Nina high is one of my favorite authors of novellas! She always seems to know how to make a good story even if it’s short. I always wish they were longer & I got to know more. The beginning of the book had me cracking up at her first date 😅 it was like a movie scene. I wish I got to know the characters more and what they really liked about each other. There was one spicy chapter that is easy to skip over. It would’ve been nice to get more of a personal connection with the characters at the end, but it was a cute funny read!
I really enjoyed this novella from the first page. Lydea goes on a really bad date, and this man has the nerve to ask her what she brings to the table lmao. After leaving and catching a ride share, she meets Champ, her driver, and they ended up in effortless conversation, and unplanned date. My favorite types of novellas, cute, swooning, funny and the right amount of spice. Their encounter felt realistic and I was drawn in immediately.
Imagine going on the worse date ever. You leave even before it starts because the guy is a talking red flag. Getting into your rideshare, all you can think about is taking a break from dating. What you didn’t know was that, the night isn’t over and you are about to experience the best date ever with your ride share driver. This is the story of Lydea and Champ. The ideal novella you need to read!

My favorite romance subgenre will probably always be contemporary romance. As much as I enjoy the angst and chaos of urban romance, there’s something about a soft, funny, feel-good contemporary that just resets my spirit. And Nina High has become one of my go-to authors for exactly that.
The second I saw her post this one, I downloaded it immediately because I already knew the vibe was about to be immaculate.
And listen… rideshare apps make me nervous in real life. But THIS driver? Baby, I would’ve risked it all. 😭
The setup alone had me crying laughing. Lydea goes on an absolutely horrible date with a man who has the audacity to look her up and down and tell her she’s “thicker than he thought.” Sir??? Immediately no. Then the man proceeds to complain about food prices and ask what she “brings to the table.” Yeah… the date was cooked from the start.
Thankfully, leaving was the best decision she made all night because that rideshare home introduces her to Champ and whew… the chemistry was chemistry-ing immediately.
What I loved most is that despite being short, the story still feels complete. The banter is sharp, the flirting feels natural, and the connection between them develops in a way that feels easy and believable. It’s cute, funny, lighthearted, and exactly the kind of palate cleanser I love between heavier reads.
And Nina High always manages to create MMCs that feel warm and intentional without unnecessary drama. Champ was sweet, funny, and smooth in that effortless kind of way.
Short, flirty, drama-free, and guaranteed to leave you smiling.
Another book off the shelf. We keep reading with intention. 📚
Nina, you're hilarious girl. I cracked up laughing at that date. Lydea definitely took too long in gathering her stuff and leaving 😂 no words necessary!! Champ was so sweet and I love a good placed " I know" 😌😌😌😌. This was a short read but it feels like a full story. Love that you can achieve so much in so few pages ! 💗
This was yet another short, sweet, cute and drama free short story by this author. Her books always tend to make me feel good and leave me smiling. I loved the meet cute idea and the easy yet organic chemistry between this couple. The story was short but felt complete even though I wanted more because I loved their energy.
“Here to save the day…” (remember the Mighty Mouse’s chant 🤔💭), Mr. Champ is on the way🤭‼️Nevertheless, “Just Keep Driving: A One Night Romance” - Book 1 from blind dating disaster to an impromptu master class recovery & perfect date checkmate😉🤩. More so, “JKD..” was a great, entertaining & realistic mature audiences only adults romantic comedy.
This was soooo cute!!! I was giggling and kicking my feet the entire time. Its funny, sexy, sweet. Loved every minute of it. If you want a quick light read that makes you smile this is it!!
Nina does a great job with writing. She used 50 pages to give a solid beginning, middle, and end. It was the cutest story. Short but believable. Enjoyed it. 4.5 stars.
