Born and raised in the agricultural midwest, I moved every year after school even as far as Shanghai before settling down with my wife in Chicago.
I have always enjoyed Wuxia stories and became thrilled when I discovered harem stories spreading to western books. I've written down my day dreams for years as an idle hobby. Inspired by the harem genre I'm finally fleshing them out into full blown novels.
I'm excited to share my stories with you as I turn them into novels and series.
The tournament got aborted before it really started, but it was sounding like a clusterfuck so it’s probably a blessing. Simone has taken center-stage as she seemingly takes over total management of the harem and Bran’s overall organization. Your enjoyment of this will be subjective to your feelings about her. Personally, I’m not really a fan and would have liked more from the others. It’s hard to tell if this story is making any progress as the goals are so vague. It doesn’t help that the author often fails to deliver the money shot. Teasing power-ups, but leaving us hanging. Promising new harem members, but stopping at the finish line. It’s dampening my enthusiasm to start anything new with this author.
A pretty solid entry. Good improvements over previous ones. The good; moving forward with the plot again, travelling around/world building, some decent character development for some HM members but more on that in a bit. Keen to see what happens with Ozzy and also the interplay with the sects and clans plus the ancients etc.
Some critiques and thoughts; something I picked up a bit in this is the absolutely overwhelming focus on Simone. Long story short it’s a bit much and could be toned down. She’s actually has become my least liked HM member at this point. Seems like with the way it’s played out and talked about like she’s the MC almost at points. Just did not hit with how prominently she is portrayed. Especially as the one doing everything if that makes sense?
Brans stats and level ups etc, this is a hard one because it sucks to continue to update these and keep em accurate, but once you start and set a certain pacing with it in earlier books, you really need to keep it up or readers get antsy. Couple other smaller things too, but the above are the main things that stood out too me. Either way always love Bruce’s work so looking forward to the next books.
I'm still very much enjoying this series but we're getting to the point of to many love interests and a lot going on, it's not inherently bad but i feel we miss out on more details and closer connections with the girls. That said i want to stress that we're NOT there yet with this series just getting close. Hopefully Bruce slows it down a little in the next one. Overall still amazing story and characters and a lot of cool things happened in this one.
Noting a bit of a pattern. In the first 3 books he had to deal with the Heros clan's issues and in the following 3 he had to fix another of the great clans and deal with one of the ancient entities of the world. Hoping this is a hint as to possible structure as we prep for the slog of the war with a demon king who wants to be as sneaky as possible. I do hope that the other worlds become available soon though, things are shaping in a very interesting way
This is a harem series. If you don't like that type of series, don't read it. I really enjoy this series and like that past knowledge is almost worthless. I don't like series where somebody goes to the past to change it, and even 10 years later they can predict what is happening. If you can predict the future after that long, you really haven't changed anything.
If you enjoyed the previous books in the series you're going to like this one. If you didn't like them I don't know why you're still reading and you're going to have a bad time. Plenty of sex fights planning and magic. I'm not going into any plot points so I don't ruin the book hope this helps
As usual another Bran book that I wish was 10000x longer and I could read it for the rest of my existence. Lol. I love this series so much. We have so many things to look forward to in the next book. I can't wait.
This book has a great mix of relationship moments, party moments, and exciting adventures. All three are wrapped together to create a compelling story.
