Ryder & Mori 😈

I picked this up after I saw the author's social media post about it. It's the story of a soldier on the run & his captive who was trying to kill him... I don't want to give spoilers so I'll say it's MM obvs, forced proximity, language barrier, touch starved MMC, hurt/comfort. I gobbled this up. Ryder is the soldier & he's just so safe & smart & solid. Mori is fierce, frightening & maybe frightened. They're perfect for each other. An easy 5-stars from me.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Softest Monster by Kip Ferox was my most anticipated read of the year and it did NOT disappoint. Honestly, if you follow me at all, you know I have practically been begging Kip to release this book.

This story follows Ryder, an ex-commander of a lethal government unit, and a mysterious… maybe not entirely human… assassin sent to kill him. What unfolds is emotional, intense, vulnerable, and deeply human beneath all the sharp edges.

This book explores so many powerful themes: government control, xenophobia, identity, trust, and what it means to accept someone fully despite their past or perceived flaws. The character depth was exquisite. It left me reflecting on how often we hide parts of ourselves out of fear of being seen as a monster, the walls we build to survive, and what it truly takes to feel safe with another person.

And yes, the romance and tension were incredible. Every intimate moment actually served the story and character development instead of feeling thrown in just for shock value. It all felt intentional, emotional, and earned.

I highly recommend picking this one up immediately. You will absolutely not be disappointed!

They’ve done it again. Absolutely captivated me from the first page. This has been my most anticipated read of the year and it did not disappoint. This was so different to anything I’ve read by Kip so far but the love radiates from the pages, you can feel it before the characters are even realising it. The found family aspect is so well done. This special agent and a literal Demon Sent to kill him should not have the pull towards one another that they do but you can see them slowly open up to each other. You’ve also got friends who would do anything for each other and not forgetting a cute pet ferret too! I loved every moment of this and I’m so glad to have finally been able to read this.
