4.5⭐️ This book gave me all the feels. 🥹 Childhood friends to lovers, found family, trauma and healing, and a protective MMC? Say less.

I love when a book feels so real, like I'm a part of the pages experiencing everything with the characters. The story shifts between the past and present in such a meaningful way, giving us the heartfelt moments and history needed to truly understand each step of their journey.

Maleek and Angelica had the most supportive village. Their people were hilarious, loyal, and always ready to show up for them no matter what.

This book was raw and emotional, but the author never let the heaviness overshadow the hope and comfort present throughout the story. The way Maleek took Angelica's broken heart, gently pieced it back together, and breathed life into it with so much patience, reassurance, and love... whew.

I don't want to give too much away, but just know the size of this book is absolutely worth it. Every page serves a purpose. 10/10, highly recommend!

DNF @ 22%. I love a good slow burn but I fear the repetitive phrasing got to me. I also found some of the flashbacks disruptive to the flow. I enjoyed their content but not how they were placed in the middle of pivotal moments. When the MCs meet for the first time, I want to be in the moment with them, not brought back to when they were 16.

This was really beautiful. Definitely my second favorite read of 2026. Lord send me my Maleek but not the hell to go through like Angelica had to. 🤞🏾 Please keep all fuck niggas like Gavin far far away from me! Amen. I don’t know why she chose him. And then wasn’t satisfied in anyway. Even I feel like I don’t deserve it i’ll just be alone. I can beat my own ass. I can treat myself funky. I don’t need any help with that. EVER! And Jasmine would have gotten dog walked after she dropped that baby!! I’ll even let you take it in the house first. But she was gone catch these hands and feet! Anyways I enjoyed this book so much. Can’t wait for book 2!

I knew it! I’m calling Jessica Dyme to beat her asz after she drop that baby! Lmao.

The motherfxcking audacity of this bitch to say he told me about the miscarriages….You know what I’m also calling Bambi! Bitch thinks she Erica Pankett.

I would have said that I couldn’t make that appointment and rescheduled it again. As soon as she saw that lawyer she should have walked back out.

Read this book Chile!

I absolutely loved this book!

Although it’s centered around a love story that unfolds over decades, one of its biggest messages is that you never have to settle for a mediocre version of love. So often, women mistake control for love, and this story beautifully highlights the difference.

The author explores what it feels like to be broken down by someone you devoted your life to, only to be rebuilt by someone who quietly loved and supported you all along. Beyond the romance, I also appreciated the importance of sisterhood. The unwavering support from the women in her life was a powerful reminder that we don’t have to carry our burdens alone, even though pride and embarrassment often keep us from leaning on those who love us.

By the time I finished the last page, I felt hopeful. This book reminded me that the right kind of love is worth waiting for, and it definitely renewed my faith that my Mr. Wright is out there!

Ain’t no way

Can we get some commotion for this book? If there were a way to give more than five stars, I would. There is NO WAY possible that this was her debut novel. This book is my #1 book of 2026. Slow burn. Loss. Love. Righteous anger. Hope. Restoration. Soft love. Second chances. Black love.

This book was a love letter to the broken woman, reminding her that she doesn’t have to settle when she was created to deserve more.

Every page I turned felt like home. It’s like all of the great authors came together to have this baby/book.

Leek and Angel’s love story started at five. Even though life happened, they never lost the love between them.

In the end, true friendship/love won.

PS: I love the little revelation in the court room. It made my heart heal. Whew.

10/10!! Definitely worth the read, for this to be the first book the author has ever written it’s worth every page turn. The book has details that makes the reader feel connected to the characters. The connection between past/present to get a deeper understanding of their relationship was written beautifully.

I didn’t think about how long the book was, I was simply infested in their love story. This book holds depth with realistic scenarios. Angelica understanding her worth again and Maleek being a stand up man truly a gem of Black Love. 🤎 can’t wait for more books!

Dare I say this might be one of the best DEBUT books I’ve ever read. There was drama, yearning, love, romance and comedy in all the right places. I loved every minute of this book and will definitely be getting a physical copy. B. C. Definitely did her big one with this and I cannot wait for Bella’s book. I just know it‘ll be a good one.

A debut novel where?!?!

Ms. Lovejoy wrote this book with everything she had and then some!!! I absolutely loved Angel and Maleek blossoming love story. Loved the bond between the sisters and they were hilarious 😂. That darn Gavin. I don’t think I’ve ever came across a male character as callous as he was. He literally made me want to reach through my kindle and choke him out!! Kudos to you gor creating these great characters. Maleek…ohhhh weeeee, yes he’s definitely in my top book bae’s.

truly a 5 star read

I had this book on my TBR for weeks. I really wanted to read it although I usually don’t really like reading slow burns, but I kept pushing it down the list since it’s 600+ pages. Let me just say I’m glad I finally read this book. It is extremely well written & it didn’t even feel like 600 pages was too much. I really enjoyed reading Angelica’s journey to rediscovering herself and her worth & I just loved how much Maleek loved his Angel.

I liked the book. It was a little too long, not gonna lie, and I feel like I was a little confused on the timeline because when they would jump back to when the main characters were kids, they were using language from like present day, which didn’t really make sense to me, but it was cute.

READ THIS RIGHT NOW

Oh my God this author is a woman after my own heart and I can just tell through the way she crafted this story. I fell in love with all the characters, except Lord Voldemort and his cronies of course, laughing out loud and even crying some too. Identified more than a little with Angelica and the narcissistic abuse she’d suffered from. I really appreciated the detail in the little manipulations and second guessing you fall prey to when you entrust pure love to the spawns of satan.

It’s kind of beautiful to identify with the struggles that even a fictional character has to overcome, makes you feel less alone.

Anyway, this book has it all. Love, healing, spice and even surprises at the very back of the book. I cannot wait to read Bella’s book and know I’m going to absolutely adore Tina’s someday. Kudos to B.C. Lovejoy! This one I’m hoarding, I don’t want to return it to Kindle unlimited under any circumstances.

Maleek Wright…. yassssssss

Maleek was a breath of fresh air. Similar to a lot of boyfriends yet different. He was ever the protector so sweet, so gentle nonjudgmental. He was everything that Angelica ever needed. This book to me show that you can’t put love on a timeline. Sometimes the best things for us are already there, and we don’t realize it until later on in life, which for Angelica came right in the nick of time. I ate this book up. All of the reviews said that it was a slow burn, but this was a slow burn that was so worth it.

The Wright Man was such a beautiful, heartwarming read! You could feel the history and deep-rooted connection between the leads right from the start. Childhood best friends to lovers with a second-chance twist is one of my favorite tropes when done right, and B.C. Lovejoy executed it effortlessly. The slow burn gave their relationship room to breathe, heal, and mature. In the end, true love prevailed, and that made every bit of emotional build-up completely worth it!

I know this book said slow burn but I did not expect 95% of the book to still be dealing with the same issue from the beginning. It’s sad because this is Another book not written by the author. Definitely used AI. At least she did add in some of her own words but the structure or the wording, the em dashes, overly comparative language makes it very obvious. Such a shame.

The wright man is Maleek!

I really enjoyed the banter. The sisterhood! The romance the joy and laughs. This was a thick read but the flow was oh so good. I zipped through it. Good entertainment.
