Neural Wraith 4

Rate this book
Assassination rocks Neo Babylon, leaving Police Commissioner Kim dead and Nick racing to nail the murderer before the city tears itself apart in paranoia.

His investigation stands in the shadow of a greater crisis, however. Terrorist attacks strike with eerie timing and accuracy. Friends and suspects alike go missing when needed. The military bucks the law while protesting its innocence.

Trust is worth more than gold, but Nick can't measure it and finds himself with only the robotic Archangels and police mainframes truly by his side. He can't help but wonder if he'll recognize his home after he solves this case.

Or worse, if he'll be the one who steps forward and changes his city before its broken beyond repair.

Another certified hood classic from K.D.

I'm glad this was as good as I hoped.

I always enjoyed cyberpunk/bladerunner esq stories and Neural Wraith had cemented itself as being up there in my eyes.

I won't go into spoilers but it involves much of how you'd feel Neural Wraith to feel. Nick has a crazy big conspiracy case and the world goes downhill because rich a-holes are acting like a-holes who are rich.

Also I always appreciate how much of the lewder/smutty elements aren't the main focus themselves but more about an emotional bond between the characters. I feel like K.D. has always been good for this sort of development in harem stories compared to others.

Another certified banger in my eyes.

This book was pretty fascinating, but it still has the weakness of the fact that not a single LI is human, and the MC does little to have the various AI driven "dolls" fall for him.

This particular book is full of political and military twists and turns. Much of the political stuff can be viewed as commentary on current U.S. political nonsense, which may put off some readers that read for escapism and don't want it put in their face. It certainly wasn't subtle at some points.

I found the plot twists held my attention much better than the personal stuff. This is probably the series that could most easily have the harem element ripped out and still hold reader's attention.

I look forward to book 5.

I have no words for how much I love this series

As said in title, I genuinely don’t know what to say. Whatever I have to say will sound pompous spiel, so to save myself the embarrassment I’ll just say that KD really keeps you on your toes through the whole book/series, keeps you constantly pondering on philosophy and current world events. I enjoy that a lot honestly, there’s not much else to say other than how I love the characters, the interactions, the world building and well Nick getting boosted to global dicta- I mean uh new positions of power in the police. Yes just that. He totally can’t take over the world soon, nope. Anyways thanks for the great book as usual author

I just can't give this a 5 as a reading experience. It's well written, but took 800 pages to tell a 300-ish page story.

It's a police procedural which includes sex with gynoids (though the book uses the generic 'androids'). Its' failing in my eyes was that through all the byzantine turns this took, it really didn't go very far in terms of story progression.

It didn't put me off the author or the series, but it was a bit of a slog to get through for very little resolution. That may have been intentional, but there had to be a quicker way of establishing the MC's frustration.

He's done it again

Finally after way too long, Roberson gets us the next installment in this series. Its a perfect continuation of the past three books, and I hope we dont have to wait anywhere near as long for the next to roll out.

Sci fi noir detective is a really rare combo for some reason, yet its become my favorite series out of all the many many books I've read. I can't recommend this series enough.

Amazing

Id recently read online from the author that due to a lack of interest/sales that he wasn't going to continue this series, which was disappointing because it's one of my favorites. I was surprised when I saw the pre-order pop up for this book and I couldn't have clicked faster.

It did NOT disappoint. I sincerely hope the author continues this series as like I said, it's definitely one of my favorites and this entry is no different.

hooked from beginning to end

Without spoilers it is always fun to try to guess who or what was the criminal before Nick does. It’s a good book that builds a cohesive story, leaves clues, and is fun and interesting enough to keep you engaged enough to care all the way through.

The book felt like it had more commentary on current social events than I recall the others, but not in a platformed way, more like art and reality and all that. It’s good.

one humdinger of a story

Another great mystery detective installment as always higher stakes, higher mysteries, and more androids. This so far is the pinnacle of futuristic detective books. It was almost impossible to predict what was going to happen next. Can't wait for the next installment.

Absolute (Written) Cinema

Genuinely one of the best detective/mystery books, which, while I can say that for the others 3, makes this more impressive, not less.

The writing, characters, and pacing are all excellent with no real plot holes or errors. I may be glazing at this a bit, but I'm not lying.

Way too convoluted and too little payoff.

This one has been my least favorite of the series. Too much of this book is way drawn out conversations on fiction technical jargon and ancient Roman anecdotes. The plot that needs to be solved spins in pointless circles the whole book till the last 10% where the MC just “solves”it out nowhere in a deus ex machina moment.

An incredible read

I've always said Robertson writes a really good detective novel and the android women are just a plus but man do I love this group. Nick does the best he can in a world increasingly removing the human element and shines. Now we just gotta get Zeke gully inducted into the group.

God I can't wait for book 5. This is my favorite novel series bar none.

Gum shoe who!!!

KD Robertson is bar nun, one of the greatest riders in the aroma genre. This story was incredibly sophisticated and complex, and yet kept all the simple shenanigans that make it special. It's good to see nick again.Back in the saddle. Thank you, KD for writing such a great story

KDs Best Series

I love this man's books. I love this series more. Honestly his best series, though I love all his books. He really just gets too much grief about them though.

If you dont like it , why harass the author? Just move on.

Please keep writing this!

A Provocative Mystery

A really good look at a dystopian cyberpunk thriller with lots of dolls. Another fun murder mystery to solve in complex environments, technology, and politics.

Very good book

This is a fine fantasy harem fantasy adventure novel. It is well written and edited. I especially like Tengu and the old maid bot. I anxiously await the author's next novel.

Story Never Lets Up

4 volumes in & the Story Never Lets Up. Nick keeps advancing AI Dolls joining the Team/Harem. We'll written & detailed without logging down in the technical plot. Looking forward to #5.

Book 4

The series somehow just gets better as it gets longer. Characters continue to be awesome. The only problem, is that you wont be able to put it down.

Philosophy, Androids, and Sexy Time

All wrapped up in a fairly coherent plot. Now we just need to find out what "AI Satan" is really up to...

I like this series - a dystopian cyber punk detective mystery series is cool when done right and kd manages it well.

Effing outstanding

What a unique take on the old gumshoe mystery trope. And the full incorporation of AI into the matrix is really well thought out and executed!

Another Epic book

Another great book from KD and his writing has only gotten better. It’s a shame that the next book in this series will be the last. In my opinion Neural Wraith is one of the best Cyberpunk books i have ever read. I look forward to the next and last book in the series and to see how this concludes.
