Once their plane goes down over an ocean on Vanar, Poly is stranded and alone, searching for an island she isn’t sure exists. Dehydrated and on the brink of death, she vows to get Joey and her friends back—no matter the cost. She quickly finds herself stuck in the center of old disputes and she will need Harris and her friends to find a way out.
Joey and Samantha find themselves locked away in a fantasy land. Samantha thinks she’s found a way out, only they don’t have much time. With each passing day, Joey becomes weaker as Marcus drains his life.
They must find a way back to each other, if they’re ever going to bring Marcus down. Harris calls on the Six to do their part. The call to action must be answered, or they will all fall.
This is book 2 of the Preston Six series. It contains mild language and violence. It is approximately 100,000 words(400 pages) long.
Series order: Rise of the Six Call of the Six Fall of the Six(Coming soon)
Thanks to the machinations of Marcus and his MM army, the Preston Six find themselves separated, Poly alone in a life raft after their plane is shot down on an alternate world, and heading for an island that might not even exist; and Joey and Samantha isolated in a scene generator, where Marcus is slowly sucking the life out of Joey. Harris, the Ghost, calls on the six to tap into their strengths to help him bring Marcus down, but in order to so, they have to survive zombie assaults and take on a high-tech army—and, in the process, get back together again.
The Call of the Six by Matt Ryan is book two in the Preston Six series, and while it lacks the smoother copy editing of book one, makes up for it with spine-tingling action and profound interpersonal conflict.
This one ends on something of a cliff hanger, in some ways, similar to book one, which sets a reader up nicely for the next in the series. While I’m not ordinarily a fan of cliff hangers, I give the author a pass on this one.
I received a free copy of this book. I give this one three and a half stars, mostly because of the number of grammatical and typographical glitches.
So, this picks right up where book 1 left us. And after many twists and turns, separations, reunions, fighting, riots, you name it...we end up with the group still split. Only this time Julie, Lucas and Hank are together with Harris. Poly has joined Joey and Samantha in the MM madhouse. Things are not looking so hot for those 3 right now. Can’t wait to find out what is coming next for the Preston Six.
These stories are good and I was invested in the characters but the atrocious grammar is distracting. He should have used grammar check or a proof reader.
The story continues... This time the preston six got separated. mutant island, sanct, ryjack, back to earth... several places they went to with different adventures thinking that they have to come back for joey and samantha where they held captive in a scene simulator by MM.
I really love how each of the characters get stronger and wiser after surviving the jump from their spaceship where it was bombed on air by MM.
You wont be disappointed in this adventurous, exciting sequel of the Preston 6. You will keep cheering them on to get to each to be together as a group to rescue Samantha and Joey.
Part of me expected this book to slow down after the speed of the last one. I'm not sure why I expected that considering the state our heroes were left in. Matt Ryan did not even miss a beat! It almost seems as if he wrote the whole series and split them into books later. I love the character progression of Poly. Can't wait to see what's in store next! And how he develops Samantha.
What a great series I stumbled onto. The first book was a strong 4/5 star and the second book is even better. Hard to know what to compare it to - it has a little bit of the feel of the Hunger Games but only very generally, and it's got much more compelling characters. Now I'm just upset that I have to wait a month or two for the third book to come out.
Wow!! This is even better than the first book of this series. Very fast paced especially the ending with a lot of great action scenes. I enjoy the interaction between the six. The ending was definitely one that will make you want to hurry up and get book 3.
as events unfold, the thrill kept on going, enthralling and captivating, enough for a continuance to the next entry, which i will acquire as soon as I am able. Adios!
It's a little better than Book One. I guess Poly's name is pronounced correctly from the first audiobook because someone asks her about wanting a cracker.
