Triple Beat

Rate this book
Dani was 17 years old when she ran from New Orleans like a thief in the night. With no idea where she was going or how she'd survive, she was certain of just one thing—she'd never again step foot in the Big Easy. Now, time and circumstances have made her a liar. After twelve long years, her beloved foster family, the Lewises, have tracked her down. And so has the very person who drove her away—her father.

Together with her best friends, Aiden and Bryson, Dani is standing at the precipice of success. Their band, Closing Time, has just signed with a major label and their star is on the rise. But Dani can't enjoy any kind of future while constantly looking over her shoulder, waiting for the past to catch up. It's time to return to New Orleans…time to confront the face that's always haunted her nightmares.

Aiden and Bryson have long suspected Dani is hiding something, some dark secret she refuses to confide. When she leaves Nashville without a word, they follow. How can they not? What they feel for her…what they want from her…won't allow them to let Dani face her demons alone. Whether she's ready to believe it or not, over the years, the men have come to know a few things for certain: they're stronger as a trio. And three hearts beat better as one.

2.75 stars. A nice easy read but could have been better.

Overall I really liked the backstory of Dani’s troubled past with an abusive father and how she reformed her life with the care of he foster family The Lewis’s and then Stella and Benji (respectively) when she ran from her home-town of New Orleans and moved to Nashville where she became friends with Aiden and Bryson and they formed their band ‘Closing Time’.

However, I wasn’t too keen on the way everything just flew into action without any real character development. Don’t get me wrong, as the story progresses we get a good idea of Dani’s character and what has led her up to the present day, but it was hard to form a deep connection with Aiden and Bryson as we didn’t know much about them. Besides the fact that they were Dani’s bandmates and best friends and their feelings towards her/role in her life, all we are told is that Aiden is the more analytical over-thinker and Bryson is a man of action and more of a dominant and demanding personality.

Even down to the various characters appearances, we are only given very minimal details to go by. For example, it is clear that Aiden and Bryson are meant to be desirable, macho and attractive but we are given practically nothing in relation to what they actually look like and the same with the other characters, including Dani — this made it harder to get into it.

So much of the story was spent focusing on Dani’s refusal to discuss her past with the boys (Aiden and Bryson) and her determination to confront her abusive father and whilst the story starts with Dani making her way to her hometown of New Orleans, so much of the story is focused around her developing relationship with her friends (as lovely as the steamy scenes were), rather than focusing on giving the story a bit more substance.

That said, I really liked the insight into the relationship between Dani, Bryson and Aiden and loved her relationship with her foster family, especially Mama Lewis and her foster brother Jett. Also, the much-anticipated confrontation between Dani and her awful father Russel was very well-written and portrayed, even if it only made up a very small portion of the story.

Although not the best book I’ve read, it was an enjoyable enough read and I would be interested to read some more of the books in the series, particularly Jett’s story.

A very quick and enjoyable read. I wish that this book would have been longer because at times it seemed like Dani, Aiden, and Bryson's stories were rushed. Told from multiple pov's, this book has suspense, chemistry, and action. When Dani is located by her former foster brother Jet Lewis, she wants to go back to see the family but is afraid to run into her father. When she starts receiving threatening messages from her dad, she feels like she has no choice but to go back and confront him once and for all. Only problem is, she doesn't want Aiden and Bryson there because she doesn't want them to know about what happened to her. They end up following her to New Orleans anyway and the first night there, they finally give in to their secret fantasies. Dani is convinced it is a one time thing because there is no way a relationship can work between the three of them. Aiden and Bryson want more with her but they also don't know things can actually work. When they meet her foster family, they discover that there might be a way to make things work. Meanwhile, Dani comes face to face with her dad and the showdown she pictured doesn't go the way she had planned. Aiden and Bryson come to the rescue and Dani realizes she can have it all.

I really need to get in to the habit of checking goodreads before I jump feet first in to a book.

Well..... I didn't do that with this book I jumped right in feet first and promptly fell right on my face. I loved this book! At one point I did wonder if this book was part of a series (to many family members in relationships) but I never dreamed it was the fifth book!

I almost immediately fell in love with Dani, Aiden, and Bryson at the exact same time I instantly wanted to murder her "father" *glares at the screen* whew still want to murder his butt ooooo wait never mind I'll just give him to the sisterhood (fern michaels series for those that don't know).

Was I the only one who almost jumped for joy when they finally got together? I literally had the biggest smile on my face while simultaneously think about damn time. If I really had any critique about this story it would be that I wanted it to be longer and not end so fast. Now I'm not sure what to read next.

I will definitely come back to this book and series sometime though.

Great story

Dani is a guitarist in a band with her two best friends, Aiden and Bryson. They have signed a record deal and is about to go on tour. Her foster brother finds her and convinces her to visit. After running for twelve years from a past she has tried to forget, it’s catching up with her. Her father abused and almost raped her when she was younger. Now he’s out of jail and has somehow found her. She leaves without telling Aiden and Bryson and finds them in her room when she arrives. They start a sexual relationship but she still hasn’t told them about the threatening calls from her father. She is ready to face him but on her terms until he kidnaps her. Can the guys get to her in time to save her?
Sex. Threesome. Edge of your seat suspense. And an evil father.

Dani is running from a terrifying past in New Orleans. She leaves in the night, reinventing herself as a country singer in Nashville. Her band mates Aiden & Bryson have always been there for her. Now that they are signing a music contract, Dani must go home and face the man who tried to destroy her. Aiden & Bryson know she is hiding something from them, but all they can do is offer their love and support. If that support ends them in each others arms, so be it. It is exactly where they have always wanted to be. Now back in NO, she has reconnected with the only family she ever cared about(the Lewis'), and faces her biggest fear. With her men by her side, she can do anything, right? Checkout book 5 today!

Triple Beat is a fantastic contemporary romance by Mari Carr. It is a M/F/M menage book though so it may not be for everyone. Ms. Carr has once again had me glued to my e-reader from start to finish with this well-written book. Dani ran from New Orleans when she was 17 along with her best friends Aiden and Bryson. Their band has signed with a major label but Dani knows that's going to bring her trouble so she leaves Aiden and Bryson and runs. Their story is packed with drama, bits of humor, sizzle and lots of suspense. I loved reading this book and look forward to my next book by Mari Carr. Triple Beat is book 5 of the Big Easy Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliffhanger.

I absolutely loved this book! I had no idea it was the fifth book in a series either so it can very easily be read as a stand-alone (although I can’t currently comment on if the first four books will add more backstory/context to this instalment).

Whilst the progression of friends-to-lovers did occur quite quickly, it still felt organic and not rushed as the characters history was described in detail.

The sex scenes were also perfect - not too many that they detracted from the plot (also note that there is still a mature plot to follow) but enough that I would enjoy re-reading. Highly recommend and will definitely be reading the others in the series!

OMG! I'm fan girling, it about a rock group after all...

This was a romance and suspense as well; almost like a romance on steroids!

I did not read the previous books in the series and this one read quite well as a stand alone. However, with the huge cast of characters, if you've read the whole series, then getting glimpses into the couples from previous books would be exciting.

I enjoyed this story so much. I loved the characters. How their relationship evolved and grew over the years and how the three were afraid to change the status quo in case it ruined the dynamic or the relationship crashed and burned. They had to evolve with each other to realize they found their forever.

Dani, Aiden and Bryson
3.5 stars
I liked this but didn't love it. I liked the balance of plot vs steam and the steamy scenes were good. I wasn't keen on Dani's refusal to tell her best friends/ bandmaster, they friendship between the three didn't seem as strong as the author wanted it to be. This links to another niggle, the boys insistence on no physical contact. It didn't need to be bi but at least a conversation around the emotional connection or at the very least not so blatantly against it. It left the story being more of a hinge than a throuple. The revenge plot went too far for me in terms of the threatened actions for this type of book.

Holy wow! I love this story. So much terror in Dani's life and its coming back to haunt her. Dani has come up in the world since she took off from New Orleans all those years ago. But she has come back to sort her demons and reunite with her family. Only trouble is....her bandmates beat her to it and they are not easy to shake.

Bryson and Aiden are there for Dani even though she doesn't want to bring them into her past. When they rush to comfort her after a particularly bad nightmare, things change for them.

Hot stuff and such a happy ending.

Could have been better

Overall, this could have been a great book except for the father's story line. I understand his story line while she was a minor but for him to wanting to rape his 25-27 year old daughter is just nasty and I felt totally ruined this book. I could have understood him stalking her to get revenge for sending him to prison but all his threats and stalking just to finish the attempted rape I just could not rap my head around it. Sorry this book was a major fail for me.

This was not good, it’s just ok to meh, in my opinion . There is a storyline here I just didn’t enjoy it. Main character was annoying as an adult. Character development was shallow. The sex scenes are blah, no heat.

I haven’t read any others of this series and it didn’t take away from this story, but I don’t want to read anymore of it based on this one.

I think I’ve graduated from this author. Check out her Wild Irish series it’s better/good. I’m going to try her Compass Brothers series some time, fingers crossed. Making His Play is also connected to the Wilder Irish series, as Colm makes an appearance.

There was some depth of emotions in this story. Our heroine has had a terrible past and she is now facing it. She hasn’t let anyone from her present in on what has happened in her life, and her two bandmates/best friends sense there is more. It was almost as if there was a split personality, to the book, the relationship and smexy times between the three characters was hot, sweet, and fun. The storyline with her past was deep, dark, and painful. Each worked on its’ own but put together it felt fractured

Love at the end of the tunnel.

This book takes you from a really bad situation to a very happy place. Dani is young woman on the run and she can sing. She meets two men that can play and sing also. Bryson and Aiden has been in love with her for years. While she was on the run her foster family is trying to find her , will they. There is lots of emotions , scenes that keep you on the end of your set and so very hot sexy one.

Couldn't put it down!!

This isn't the first book that I've read by Mari Carr and it most definitely won't be the last! This is however the first review that I have left for her work, and I just have to say I was amazed at how real the story was and the raw emotion that she made me experience. I just love it when a book can take me to another reality. It's the whole point of picking up a book and this author can deliver!

sweet and steamy.

3.5 stars A good read. Lots of heat. If you’re a fan of bedroom scenes, you’ll like this one. Good characters. It started with a few flashbacks to catch us up on their past. The family was lovely. The focus was definitely on their evolving relationship, but the evil stalking her kept the tension pretty high. Not overly long and paced well for it, this book was very easy to read.

Listen, I appreciate this book had a generic trigger warning and the beginning of the book. But it really should have had an extensive list of them because this book deals with HEAVY topics (and not in the best ways)

I do like that we have all agreed that love triangles are boring and the couples should become throuples but I did not appreciate the two guys basically going “no homo bro.” Mari Carr, STOP BEING A COWARD AND LET THEM BE BISEXUAL

I really liked the book some of our you knew what was coming but still always a little extra. The abuse to someone young is hard but unfortunately it's a sad truth that people need to realise they are not at fault and it touches on that , really liked how it shows you can get past it and live a normal life.

Short but good

I love this author and how she is able to make non conventional seem like the norm. This book touches on a Dani and may have some triggers for readers so pay attention to the warning in the front of the book. For a short read this was really good as it still had a nice plot, some drama and of course some heat.

Terror

Why are so many children terrorized? Dani barely survived and thought she had outrun her past BUT it came slinking back in. Many people tried to help along the way but she didn’t truly let anyone in until the end. Her men, her foster family and her employers all helped to make her but she had to decide to truly live.

*This does have some potential triggers*
I enjoyed the character storyline, backstory/history about going back home. I loved the chemistry between Dani, Aiden and Bryson and how different their styles were but how well they meshed as friends, and band mates. The suspense and drama helped to make this a well rounded read!

A story of lost childhood to fear.

Can Dani (Patton) Lewis hide from her past any longer? Can her two band mates show her how they truly feel? Bryson and Aiden have been there with Dani through thick or thin. Now she goes home for a reunion with her foster family she has not seen in twelve years. Beautifully written. Loved it.

Nashville strong

This book is really short, novella size. However that didn't stop it from felling like a well written detailed story. It has steamy bedroom scenes . Some of the book could trigger issues. These is abuse and well I won't mention what else, as I want you to read it for yourself. I do recommend this book
