Have you ever wondered what you would get if you married “The Big Bang Theory” and 1993 romance comedy “Groundhog Day”? Me either, but that’s what I was thinking while reading “The Paradox Cycle” by David Kersten. While I found the premise interesting and was entertained with the read, I was a bit annoyed by the repetition, I was a bit annoyed by the repetition, I was a bit annoyed by the repetition (do you get my drift?)... If you don’t pay attention you may miss the slight differences in dialogue from one telling to the next (and at times the difference is minuscule) and miss out on a whole different outcome of circumstances. I found myself wondering if I’d lost my place and was rereading what I’d already read. It was a fun, fast read however.

Synopsis (from back cover): Dillon Walker is on the verge of proving his theory and successfully altering the past. Main character, Dillon, is an MIT genius whose research focuses on dark matter and time travel. He has found a way to send a message to himself, in the past, that proves that his theory is correct. His colleagues are concerned about the creation of an endless loop of events, a paradox cycle, that could bring out the destruction of the universe.

This short story is a heck of a lot of fun to read, and is interesting from start to finish. As the story progresses, the reader begins to make discoveries about the course of the events in the book that changes your perspective on things. This was a pleasant surprise. The writing itself is simple and plain, allowing the story to be the true focus. The characters are all likeable and well fleshed out.

I was looking forward to this story and it absolutely love up to expectations. I will be reading David Kersten's novel, The Freezer, very soon.

An original take on time travel

Chosen primarily for the theme and in appreciation of the author's previous books.
Few typos and proof that when editing your own work, you read what you expect to see but, as I said, only a few minor mistakes which do not detract from the excellent story telling.
