Something we all must read. I guess we are all tempted to hold onto our Isaacs . Derek Prince helps us to see how imperative it is to put down self and pick up jesus, and give permission to Him and Him only to receive the glory. In our little worlds it’s so tempting to say about x y or z: it’s mine - our ministry, our calling, whatever else. Only by surrender however will be find our x y or z is increased vastly, not by keeping it to ourselves. Derek, your wisdom is vast. Thank you. Your legacy goes on.
It was on a nightstand in my house, I just picked it up and read the first few pages, and finished it within an hour. God apparently wanted me to read this because it talked about something's that I needed to deal with. WOW. So good, and eye opening.
A great book. He who yields loves more. The mother who preferred to yield her son, rather than see him dead, loves more! the one she didn't love wasn't willing to yield half of herself.
This book was my first exposure to Derek Prince. A powerful and moving piece, it is actually the transcript of a sermon by the long-time minister. In it, he talks about how yielding our will to God is one of the most powerful things we can ever do, as His agenda is so much better than our own. Using the words of Jesus concerning laying down our lives, along with Paul's teachings about denying ourselves for the sake of others, Derek clearly explains what it looks like to give up our agendas for the sake of God's kingdom. He also reveals the humongous benefits of so doing.
In our rampant entitlement-oriented society, the "me first" mind-set has infected even our churches. This book is a great counter-agent to that destructive attitude, restoring God as the appropriate focus of all we do. Gotta get this book--regardless of who you are!
It talks about what intentionally following Jesus entails - which is surrendering, or yielding as it is. I liked that the author clearly defined what, "taking up the cross daily"(In Luke 9:23) means. It's a good read.
How to stop with being religious and actually become a Christian at heart and soul? Derek Prince wrote out an interesting Bible study about living for God and others rather than for yourself. A recommendation for everyone who wants to build up their faith in Christ.
