After suffering a century of torture and humiliation, Jace still bears the scars that have left his heart closed to love and acceptance. He escapes the prison walls only to realize he's mystically bound to his tormentor. Believing he doesn’t deserve a Fated Mate, he keeps his distance from females. Renowned for being a level-headed warrior, his control is pushed to the limit when he meets the Vampire Queen’s sister. Not only is his patience tested by Cailyn, but his skills as a sorcerer are challenged when he fights to save her mortal soul.
Cailyn is instantly spellbound by the damaged soul she views in the sparkling depths of Jace’s amethyst eyes. The attraction is so strong that it forces Cailyn to question the direction of the life she has planned with another. Her mundane human life is shaken up by a violent car crash, a Fae spell, expeditions into the bayou, and battles with demons. Amidst the chaos, the developing bond between her and Jace strengthens, leaving their desire for one another undeniable. Of one thing Cailyn is certain, she must help Jace explore the depth of his scars to overcome the wounds of his tortured past and find a future…but will it be with her?
Really good series with excellent writing and story line. This book continues where the first let off with all of the same characters but a few more. I love how the author explores different characters and the personal demons they fight, knowing it will show up in a separate book later on. I did not like this book as much as the first but probably because the Female main character was not as strong willed as some of the others and her role fell somewhat flat for me. Overall really good second in series. I can’t wait for more, happy reading!!
Wow. There is so much packed into this book that I’m not even sure where to start. I was afraid as I got into it that it was going to mirror the first book, where Elsie couldn’t get past her dead husband, it seemed that Cailyn was going to spend the whole time trying to figure out if she could move past her fiance and explore the ties she felt to Jace. Then there was the issue of what happened to Jace when he was a prisoner to make him so dark and unwilling to acknowledge Cailyn as his Fated Mate. I will warn you now, however – if you are sensitive to scenes of troll sex, this is NOT the story for you! As you can figure out, there’s some humor in these stories, some smexiness and lots of paranormal twists and turns! The characters – and I mean CHARACTERS – from the first book are back again, and the layers of the Tehrex Realm and the battle therein continues to build and leaves this reader anxiously awaiting the next segment of the story!
I really like that the core group keeps growing. I'm kind of anxious to see what happens next. Cailyn is the sister of Elsie and she is the fated mate of Jace. Jace has not recovered since his abduction. He feels inadequate and wants something more for Cailyn. I liked that it was a different scenario because having the same one over and over again becomes redundant.
We are drawn even more into the realm with this story, full of romance and intrigue. The editing could stand improvement...mixed tense and words used improperly jar the reader out of the fantasy realm they are submerged in, leaving a sense of disgruntlement. Overall, however, the story is enjoyable and I will be looking for the next installment.
*phew* I made it thru this one without giving up. Man, I rock. Or it could be because I skimmed thru a lot of it...either or. I honestly cannot say why, but I really really hate the relationships between the main characters of these books. It's the worst when the parts I skip over are the smexy times and am more interested in reading the main story. I just roll my eyes soooo much with all the bullshit these couples say to each other, or about each other. It's all so ridiculous.
I went into this prepared to be proud of Cailyn for breaking off her engagement when she started lusting after another man. Let's just forget the fact that she became obsessed with Jace after seeing him for a handful of minutes and never even spoke to him. No? Good, because that bugged the shit out of me. Unfortunately, I never was proud of her. Because for the whole goddamn book all we hear from her is how she still loves her (ex)fiance but how she also can't stop thinking about Jace's body. The poor girl! How can she choose between these two!?
We start with Cailyn on her way home from her sister's wedding and while her and her best friend are driving, they get run off the road and attacked by the bad guys. Her best friend will never be the same, or even human, again. And Cailyn had some faerie curse placed on her that is slowly killing her. So of course they end up back at Zeum. Did I spell that right? And from there we get the lustful thoughts of both Cailyn and Jace ad nauseam no matter how dire the situation. Because PRIORITIES.
Jace is determined to save Cailyn's life no matter the cost. He may not believe he deserves a mate, but he will see her safe and happy if it kills him. Jace's past plays a big roll in how he lives his life. Admittedly, when I read he was a prisoner I most certainly didn't jump to the kind of prisoner he was. So yeah, the guy has issues to work thru. To save Cailyn him and some of the others have to not only find Baba Yaga, but make it to her alive, and then convince her to help. That part was actually pretty good.
Once Cailyn is better we can move on to fighting the demons, trying to figure out what they're up to with all of their kidnapping of women, and figuring out prophecies. All of which was good and interesting. Ruined by Jace and Cailyn and how they can think of nothing but what they want to do to the other. I truly don't normally mind this. But there is no balance in these books. It's overwhelmingly the lustful thoughts of these characters who don't know a goddamn thing about the other but want to spend the rest of their lives with them. With a story sprinkled in here and there. A good story at that. Just to be overshadowed by two adults that can't keep it in their pants.
Oh. Also. That ending was a complete and total cop-out. What a predictable and stupid way to make it so Cailyn doesn't have to choose.
A lot happens in this book that will lead to a bunch of future books. I planned on going forward with them too. I really did. But I just can't. I'm not enjoying these at all enough to keep wasting my time.
Brenda Trim & Tami Julka continue the Dark Warrior Alliance Saga with more action, adventure, romance, and steamy sex scenes. Jace is a Dark Warrior and a sorcerer with a dark past that haunts him. Cailyn is a conflicted young woman with her own unique gift whose sister happens to be mated to the Vampire King. Ever since her sister's ceremony, Cailyn can't get Jace out of her head, and she can't determine if the feeling is mutual, but when demons and skirm begin abducting women, Cailyn is thrown more deeply into Jace's world. He must face his past, and she must decide her future, all while facing down dangers, both familiar and unexpected.
One of the reasons I really enjoy Mystik Warrior is that the characters continue to be developed with details from their past which can both surprise readers and shock them, but which again makes the characters more realistic and ones audiences can sympathize (and occasionally empathize) with. The dilemmas they face in the present may often be of the supernatural variety, however, mundane human life problems are at the forefront - pain, friendship, family, lust, love, insecurity, loss - which only serve to strengthen readers' ties to the characters. Additionally, the writers continue to give more glimpses into the thoughts and actions of other individuals in the Dark Warrior household, creating more dynamic interactions that leave readers curious about their stories, too.
On a side note, one reason I especially like Cailyn is that she does not conform to many people's idea of the "perfect" female protagonist: "Cailyn carried an extra ten pounds, which only added to her insecurity" (Chapter 5), but that also adds another layer of "realness" to her, for me, and I appreciate the spectrum of body types, abilities, and insecurities Trim & Julka instill in their characters (along with the steamy sex scenes and engaging plot twists).
As with the previous novel, my disclaimer holds that these fabulous reads are best for audiences ages 18+ due to some scintillating and descriptive sex scenes but also due to the inclusion of other highly mature content.
Mystik Warrior: Dark Warrior Alliance Book 2 by Brenda Trim, & Tami Julka ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Mystik Warrior is book 2 in the Dark Warrior Alliance series. This is another Awesome book by Brenda Trim, & Tami Julka. Mystik Warrior is full of romance, excitement, action and intrigue that features more great characters. This book has the ability to transport the reader into a exciting different world. I really enjoy reading Mystik Warrior it's a fabulous and amazing story. The characters are fabulous, captivating and magnificent. The pace of the book flows seamlessly from book one to the next book 2. This book 2 features the fated mates Jace and Cailyn. Jace is a gorgeous centuries old sexy sorcerer who is a doctor to the Warriors. But he believes that he doesn't deserve a fated mate after his being captured and torment and humiliated. Even after he escapes the prison walls Jace still has all of the scars that was left on him, which makes him closed all of his emotions off to love and acceptance. Cailyn is Elsie sister she is with her sister for her wedding. When she meets Jace. At this time Cailyn is engaged to John Which she breaks off because she can't stop her feeling for Jace. This book has everything readers has come to expect from Brenda Trim, & Tami Julka. The romance is amazing and just right not overdone. I enjoyed the relationship between Jace and Cailyn their relationship is so charming. This book will leave you feeling happy and in a loving mood. This is another Fantastic Book it's scorching hot, sexy, it has romance with a attitude. I enjoy the way in which the characters interact with each other. Overall, this book is so enjoyable that once you start reading it, you won't stop until you are finished. The book is more than what I was expecting and what I got was something that captivated me to the last page. All I can tell you all is that I will definitely be adding these authors to my list and I highly recommend this book.
While I love these to characters there was a recurring theme that I don't like. So fair warning if you don't want to read a book about bondage I wouldn't read this series. I have trouble reading books with graphic words or descriptions of love making. Using those words so I don't get flagged and my review stays up. My heart breaks for Jace! His backstory is tragic. It's based on a new twist on torture I've never read about before. It is a little annoying how no one jumps to the conclusion that Caitlyn is Jace's mate. I mean they keep stating that she's human. Hello, Elise was human when she first met Zander. Plus the goddess did state that there would be no more turned vampires. Anyway in this book a new type of demon is created. The archdemon bites a female. And the Dark Warriors face a new type of demon, other than the one I just described. Kyren goes off the deep end. And be prepared to meet famous witches.
Jace's 100 year captivity has left him emotionally scarred and bitter. He is fighting the attraction he feels for Cailyn since he deems himself unworthy of her.
Cailyn's life was on track to happily ever after. She is engaged to a man she loves, has a great job and life in San Francisco and her baby sister is safe and happy. That all changes when she sees Jace for the first time, and her world as she knows it comes crashing down.
Can a damaged soul be fixed? Can Cailyn overcome her guilt? Will the Dark Warriors be able to stop the Demons advance on humans?
Great H/h dynamic, interesting plot line and steamy scenes bring this second book in the series to solid 4 star rating. Secondary characters add rather than distract and you will find yourself flipping pages to see what happens next.
Jace and Cailyn's story. Beneath the abundance of some very mature content, you will find yourself within a world filled with Demon's, Evil Fae, Lol Trolls named Elvis & Priscilla, Shifter's, Sorcerers, Witches and Vampire's. I may have given this Bk only a 3.7 star review, but I'm still intrigued by what may happen next and will continue with Bk3, as I've found this Bk better than the last, and am hoping this set's a trend, with each consecutive Bk only getting better.
Major Peeve: WTH! Kyran, Really! No matter what happened in the past, there should be no get out of jail, no pass go, no collecting $200, without first paying for the consequences committed against an innocent. Please let there be some sort of justice, that's more then a foot note in the next bk.
Ok so I LOVE "BLACK DAGGER BROTHERHOOD" BY J.R. WARD I thought these books will be similar, when I first started the book's I was blown away at how similar but how different these books are. These books are another"Edge of your seat, hold on for the AMAZINGLY WONDERFUL FAST RIDE. IF YOU LOVE VAMPIRES, SHIFTERS OF ALL KINDS SORCERER'S, AND EVERYTHING ELSE PARANORMAL. ADD IN A HELL OF A LOT OF HOT MEN AND REALLY BRILLIANT, SMART, STUBBORN, AND LOYAL WOMEN, OH YEA AND A LOT OF OTHER HOT & STEAMY STUFF. YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL PNR SERIES THAT I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHAT'S NEXT..
Loved book 2 of the series which features Elsie's sister Cailyn and the sorcerer Jace. Jace has a problem with intimacy due to being a prisoner in his distant past. I won't go into that. He never expected to be blessed with a Fated Mate and doesn't feel he deserves Cailyn.
Cailyn has traveled home to San Francisco from her sister's wedding in Seattle when she and her best friend are attacked by demons and skirm. Cailyn is bespelled to prevent her from being magically healed and Jess is attacked by skirm. Apparently females cannot be turned to skirm but the bites do change her.
The book has everything from witches to the Voodoo Queen and the action never stops. I am continuing on!
Jace and Cailyn are our stars for this book and wow is Jace one poor tortured soul. He maybe a warlock, warrior, healer and doctor but that doesn’t mean that life is all okay. The man hides some really big secrets. Cailyn also has her secrets as well. She breaks off her engagement as she just feels that things are wrong, and needs to sort her heart out. There are twist and turns galore through this book and Jace does eventually break the curse that has been placed on him. Whilst the main focus of this book is Jace and Cailyn there is other stories starting to weave their way through. And wow I can’t wait to get to those books.
Mystik Warrior is the second book in the Dark Warrior Alliance series by Brenda Trim and Tami Julka. This series gives off ‘Black Dagger Brotherhood’-like vibes. It is a paranormal romance/urban fantasy series with warriors, vampires, demons, witches, action, adventure, intrigue, tension, chemistry, sizzle, drama, danger, mystery, the supernatural, violence, magic, high stakes, agendas, and fated mates.
Fate has not been kind to sorcerer, Jace Miakoda. After a century of pain and torment, he escapes only to realize that he's mystically bound to his tormentor. What ensues makes for an intriguing read.
Second book in the totally awesome and kicka** series. Tons of action, Magic, good vs. evil, gorgeous as hell men, women that can kick but and some hot scenes. What more could you want from a paranormal romance story? Highly suggest reading book one so you can fully enjoy this series.
He has a messed up past. She was engaged but after just seeing him she can’t get the man out of her mind. Put in some life and death situations and fate will make sure they know who they were made for.
Mystic Warrior: (Dark Warrior Alliance Book 2) by Brenda Trim & Tami Julia. On her way home Cailyn along with her friend Jessie are captured by the demons. Jessie is bitten by skirm but they are rescued by Dark Warriors before Cailyn is harmed. Jessie is turned but not completely and a tracker is found inside her. Cailyn and Doctor Jace need to work out their attraction to each other especially as Jace needs to work out why his attraction to Cailyn makes him physically sick.
Normally I only read about women getting nauseous so this is new, in a good way. Immortality isn't all that great if you have to live with something like that, and drained powers too. There's so much in this book, so many stories of the main characters, but not too much. I really like that Cailyn still goes after what she thinks is right, beside all the doubts about John and the strong pull to Jace. All the magic is great too.
Another great entry in the realm of the Dark Warriors. Cailyn and Jace are on fire as they are drawn by the mating bond they can not resist. Damaged Jace needs healing and liberation from the spell of the evil witch Angelica. Can Caitlyn’s love give him the power to undo the spell? Will she be willing to forgo her safe and normal life and embrace all this Warrior offers? Brenda Trim and Tami Julka tell an exciting tale not to be missed.
Caitlyn, engaged, to one man feels deeply connected to Jace, a Mystik. Unfortunately a prior incident is keeping him from acting on his claiming of her as a mate. Both have conflicts they must face while demons and others plot against the Dark Warriors. Will they win the upcoming battles?
Cailyn, Elsie’s sister is Jace’s fated mate and I couldn’t wait too see their story unfold. This series will suck you and you will love every character. We learn what happened with Jace and Cailyn is the only one that can help him and finally he realizes he is deserving of a mate. With more enemies coming to light, I can’t wait too read what is going too happen next.
I enjoyed this one much more then the first book. Jace's story stated of so heart breaking. It's hard not to jump books, I want Kyran's story so bad but i will read them in order. Who I'm wondering about the most right now is actually Jessie. I hope everything works out for her.
Jace is a sorcerer and healer for the Dark warriors . Cailyn is the Vampire queens sister and a human, who can read minds. She and Jace are fated mates. But many years ago an evil sorceress kidnapped, tortured and put a spell on Jace. Only Cailyns love can save him.
A new twist on the paranormal romance genre, likable characters, decent world building and hateful villains. Best of all there's 14 books! That should keep me busy for a bit. My only concern is I wish the under 200 page novella (i.e. Rowan sisters) were a little less $$$ Off to start the next book, Deviant Warrior
Mystik Warrior is the second book in the Dark Warrior Alliance series. It can be read as a standalone, but the story and characters make more sense if you have read the previous book. There is a lot of violence and the sex is hot and steamy so 18+. The storyline is average but I am enjoying the characters interactions and development.
I have been provided with a copy of Mystik Warrior by the author for an impartial review. This is the second book in the Dark Warrior Alliance series and it was great getting to go back into this world. In this story we get to see Jace and Cailyn and I absolutely loved getting to see this happen. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
Due to what happened years ago Jace doesn't believe that he deserves a mate. Cailyn is confused with how she feels about Jace but knows that she must end her engagement to John until she is sure who she wants. Readers should enjoy this book which I heartily recommend following these two fated mates.
Jace and Cailyn's story is so much better. While each book is a stand alone, clearly it's better to read the series in order. Jace was tortured for over a century and believed he wasn't a fit mate.... Plus all kinds of things are going on with the demons. It just keeps getting better!
