آیزاک آسیموف! نمیخواهم به رسم مقدمهچینها از او و آثارش بگویم، چرا که نویسندهای که خلق حداقل ده کتاب در سال روال عادی زندگیاش بود دیگر نیازی به معرفی ندارد!

فکر کن یک میلیارد سال زندگی کردی. نه، چی می گم، فکر کن هزار میلیارد سال زندگی کردی. فکر کن بی نهایت سال، تمام ابدیت رو ثانیه به ثانیه، لحظه به لحظه زندگی کردی، و با این وجود هنوز میلیاردها و میلیاردها و میلیاردها سال در پیش روته. زندگی ای که هرگز تموم نمی شه.
اگه یک چیز بخوای، اگه فقط یک چیز از این زندگیِ تموم ناشدنی بخوای، چیه؟
دانشمندی می میره، با خدا رو به رو میشه، و تازه پی می بره این موجود ابدی، برای چی جهان رو خلق کرده...

آسیموف اطلاعات زیادی در مورد عهد عتیق و کلاً امور دینی داره (یک تفسیرگونه ای هم بر عهد عتیق نوشته) و یکی از دغدغه هاش امور دینی و ماورائیه. همینه که فرق میذاره مثلاً بین داستان های علمی تخیلی آسیموف و داستان های علمی تخیلی ژول ورن. ژول ورن جز همان که داره می گه چیز دیگه ای نمی خواد بگه. حرف پنهانی، نکته مستوری، اشاره ای به چیزی. خبری از این ها نیست. ولی آسیموف گهگاه، دقت که بکنید، داره راجع به یه چیزی حرف می زنه، چیزی غیر از همین داستان که پیش روی آدمه.
دو داستان "آخرین سؤال" و "آخرین جواب" ترکیبی از فلسفه و تخیله. ترکیبی زیبا، که با کمی لحن طنز، به دغدغه های فلسفی آسیموف می پردازه، بدون این که بخواد جواب واضحی بهشون بده.

I erringly assumed that Asimov's The Last Answer must be a follow up to his brilliant short, The Last Question, and though these stories both share a similar theme, they are distinctly opposites, in both plot, structure, and also in artistry. Whereas The Last Question is engrossing and profound, this short is dull and uninspired.
The writing here was more tedious to get through, and also lacked any surprise, suspense, or excitement to make it quantifiably interesting.

در سیاره ای زندگی میکنید که 6 خورشید اون باعث میشن هیچ وقت تاریکی رو تجربه نکنید! یک خورشید گرفتگی کامل چه نتیجه ای در پی داره؟؟! مردمی که هیچگاه دنبال ساخت وسایل روشنایی نبودن با اومدن تاریکی چه واکنشی خواهند داشت؟؟!
نگاه ناب و ایده های جالب و بررسی مسائل پیش پل افتاده از زاویه ای جدید،این مجموعه داستان کوتاه رو واقعا خوندنی و جذاب کرده.
امیدوارم از مطالعه این اثر لذت ببرید. ؛)

اينكه سبك نوشته هاي آسيموف رو صرفا علمي-تخيلي بدونيم در حقش ظلم كرديم.
كسي كه نوشتن ده كتاب در يك سال براش امري كاملا عادي بوده صرفا به يك موضوع و سبك نوشته هاش رو خلاصه نميكنه ، نوشته هاش تركيبي از تمام سبك هاي ادبيه با چاشني ذهن سيال و خلاق نويسنده
آسيموف از فضا مينويسه ، از آخرالزمان مينويسه ، از تقابل انسان و خدا مينويسه ، از انتقام گرفتن انسان از خدا ، از انسان زمان حال خودش مينويسه و بدرستي غرق شدن در دنياي ديجيتال رو پيش بيني ميكنه

بالاخره تمام این کتاب رو کامل کامل خوندم تا بتونم در موردش نظر بدم. این اولین کتابیه که انقدر با خودم این طرف و اون طرف بردم که جلدش رو خراب کردم! به نوعی یه کتاب ناتموم بود که از تلاش برای تموم کردنش دست بر نمی داشتم حتی وقتی به شدت کند می خوندمش! یادمه وقتی شروع به خوندن این کتاب کردم که قصد داشتم یکی از کتاب های آیزاک آسیموف رو ترجمه کنم و به همین خاطر نیاز داشتم ترجمه نسخه های مختلفش رو بخونم و یادم هست که تا چه حد از ترجمه الهام حق پرست ناراضی بودم چون اصلا یک دست نبود و کلی نیاز به ویرایش داشت تا ترجمه همگون و یک دست و بی غلط بشه. اما از اون زمانی که من این کتاب رو دست گرفتم خیلی میگذره و من کتاب آسیموف رو ترجمه نکردم و خیلی بیشتر از مسائل ترجمه و مترجم ها و ناشرها آگاه شدم.
بگذریم.
بریم سر داستان های کوتاه آسیموف. کتاب شامل چهارده داستان کوتاهه که مطمئنم بعضی از داستان ها رو به کلی فراموش می کنم اما بعضی داستان های دیگه رو بارها و بارها به یاد میارم. داستان شبانگاه اولین داستان کتاب بود که با وجود اینکه هرگز شروعش یادم نمی مونه اما فضای کلی داستان حتما یادم می مونه. یه جای این داستان می گه:
بچه ها با سه ترس غریزی به دنیا میان. ترس از صدای بلند، ترس از افتادن و ترس از تاریکی.
موضوع اصلی داستان ترس از تاریکیه و اینکه چطور این ترس می تونه آدم ها رو به جنون غیر قابل باوری بکشونه. حتی به خاطر آوردنش هم نفسم رو بند میاره.
داستان دوم داستان رویا چیزیشخصی است بود که داستانش از اونایی هست که یادم نمی مونه چون ایده باحالی داره ولی خط داستانی قوی ای نداره. خوب نفهمیدم چی می خواد بگه؟ رویابین ها تسلیم سرنوشتشون هستن یا چی؟
داستان آخرین جواب هم چون اسم کتاب بود انتظار داشتم خیلی حرف خاصی داشته باشه ولی فقط یه گفتگوی فلسفی جالب بود که واقعا به جایی نرسید.
داستان کال عااااالی بود. جزو داستان های محبوبم توی این مجموعه بود که هر بار با یادآوریش هیجان زده می شم. به طور کل من داستان های رباتی آسیموف رو همیشه بیشتر از داستان های کهکشانی و غیره اش دوست داشتم و دارم.
الکساندر داستان متوسطی بود. داستان برادر کوچک هم از اون داستان های بدبینانه نسبت به آینده رباتی و پیشرفت تکنولوژی محسوب می شه.داستان طلا به سختی و کند و کسل کننده پیش رفت تا به آخرش رسید. به نظر من روده درازی بیش از حدی توی این داستان داشت و کلی بخش های اضافه داشت و اهمیتی نداشت که اون اطلاعات رو بده...نهایتا اینکه این داستان رو دوست نداشتم اما عوضش داستان بعدی که غلط گیر بود، کامل توی ذهنم حک شد به طوری که مرتب در زمان های مختلف بهش ارجاع می دادم.خداحافظی با زمین چیز خاصی نداشت.مرگ شب بیشتر شبیه داستان های شرلوک هولمز و پووآرو بود! با تم علمی تخیلی البته! لبخند چیپر تونست من رو غافلگیر کنه یه بخش هایی از داستان توهم برام جالب بود..مخصوصا ملاقاتش با اون چیزی که فکر می کردن توهمه. بی ثباتی به شدت مسخره بود داستان آخر، یافتند هم یه جور داستان ترسناک علمی تخیلی بود که من رو یاد فیلم بیگانه مینداخت...متوسط رو به بالا. در کل خوندن داستان های آسیموف تجربه لذت بخشی بود

An atheist dies and speaks with... dare he say, God?
The line that ticked me off :
“That sounds like a bit of Eastern philosophy – something that sounds profound precisely because it has no meaning.”
But Asimov keeps smacking the protagonist-come-antagonist with some solid Vedanta:
Without changing intonation or in any way marring the perfection of the sound, the Voice managed to sound amused. “It is strange that I am always asked that in, of course, an infinite number of ways. There is no answer I can give that you would comprehend. I am – which is all that I can say significantly and you may cover that with any word or concept you please.”
The Voice said, “I do not wish to constrain you directly. I will not need to. Since you can do nothing but think, you will think. You do not know how not to think.”
The Voice said, “In that case, of what use is it to assure you that you are not in Hell? Nevertheless, I assure you. There is here neither Heaven nor Hell. There is only myself.”
As a Hindu, I see the Voice as Brahmatman... even the phrase "I am" is "Brahmasmi" translated in Sanskrit. But as a westerner, I see a very plausible origins dialogue between Yahweh and Lucifer.
In all, this a great, great read.

Un físico ateo muere y es recibido por un ser de conocimiento infinito que se hace llamar la Voz y con el cual entabla una conversación.
Como muchos, tenía la esperanza de que este otro relato corto de Asimov tuviera relación con La última pregunta y que, de paso, sea igual de bueno. Tal vez lo único que compartan estos dos relatos es el tema filosófico. Vale la pena leerlo.

عجب كتابى بود
داستان ها همه جذاب و تامل برانگيز بودن و فقط يه داستانش به نظرم در حد متوسط بود
يادمه چند سال پيش هميشه زنگ انشا بهونه مياوردم كه تو چهار/پنج صفحه نميشه يه داستان خوب نوشت ولى همين كتاب بهم ثابت كرد تو چهار صفحه هم ميشه يه داستان فوق العاده نوشت
اميدوارم كتاب برجيس را بخر هم مثل اين كتاب خوب باشه

Not quite as good The Last Question, but Asimov's The Last Answer is still an enjoyable thought piece about eternity and human will. If you've got an eternity to do nothing but think, might as well use that time to try and screw someone else over, right? Oh humanity :)

قوانین 3 گانهی اصلی رباتها و چالش ما در تقابل با آنها که توسط آسیموف طراحی شدهاند، تا سالها جوهرهی اصلی فیلمهای علمی تخیلی و سنگ بنای درک ما از هوش مصنوعی بودهاند. مخاطرات هوش مصنوعی فقط به شکلی که در فیلمهای هالیوودی یا در بیشتر داستانهای آسیموف به آنها پرداخته شده نیست. بهطوری که در اکثر این فیلمها و داستانها رباتها باعث مرگ انسانها میشوند. بلکه هوش مصنوعی چالشهای جدیتری نه فقط در آینده که اکنون به وجود آورده که به ندرت در این گونه داستانها به آن پرداخته شده. مثلا شرکت فاکسکان که به عنوان یکی از بزرگترین شرکتهای تولیدکننده قطعات الکترونیک شناخته میشود، 60 هزار ربات کارگر جایگزین نیروی انسانی کرده و به احتمال زیاد این رویکرد توسط شرکتهای بزرگ دیگر دنبال خواهد شد و این شروع یک چالش جدیست. اما اکثر داستانهای علمی تخیلی، ما در تقابل با آنها را به صورت جنگ رباتها و کشت و کشتارهای کلیشهای نشان میدهند؛ نمونهاش داستان کال در همین کتاب. وقوع ما در تقابل با آنها اجتناب ناپذیر است اما فکر نمیکنم این یک تقابل معمولی باشد چون پیش از تقابل، ما با هوش مصنوعی در خواهیم آمیخت و تا جایی پیش خواهد رفت که آسیب به یکی باعث ورود ضرر به دیگری میشود. در این تقابل یا وا میدهی و میشکنی، یا به خودت میگویی من باید کاری کنم
در اهمیت آسیموف همین بس که ایلان ماسک همراه با راکت فالون هوی مجموعه کتابهای بنیاد را به فضا فرستاد تا ادای احترامی به آسیموف کند. آسیموف در زانر علمی تخیلی جوابش را پس داده. تحصیلات آکادمیک و مطالعات وسیع آسیموف او را از بقیه متمایز میکند و وقتی آسیموف میخوانی خیالت راحت است که علم فدای تخیل زیاد نشده.مثلا در داستانهایش کسی با بیشتر از سرعت نور حرکت نمیکند یا درمورد ستارهی نوترونی اطلاعات علمی صحیحی میدهد. تمام حرفم این است که دوست دارم آسیموف را به چشم یک داستاننویس شگفت انگیز ببینم، نه آنطور که بعضی معتقدند، او را پیشگو و نوستراداموس قرن بیستم بدانم
مخاطب سال 2019 که سریال بلک میرر میبیند و با دارکوب کاملا آشناست، دیگر آنچنان با همهی داستانهای آسیموف ارتباط برقرار نخواهد کرد و هراسی در او ایجاد نمیشود. هرچند هنوز ترجیحم بر علمی تخیلی نویسهای کلاسیک است. فکر میکنم دهه شصتیها خیلی مدیون آسیموف هستند و باید دهه شصتی باشی تا قدر آسیموف را بدانی.

“Pardon me if I sound like a jackass. Are you God?”
That Isaac, what a hoot!
In The Last Answer we sympathize with a man, recently deceased, who has a conversation with ...well....God but God who doesn't call itself God, certainly not as religion thinks of it. It has given this man eternity. Why? Basically to entertain itself. (It becomes clear that eternity would be really boring.)
The man doesn't like the idea of eternity, especially given by an entity that doesn't really seem to be enjoying eternity all that much itself except by giving eternity to various entities in the universe, and then watching what they do.
What does our man, the recently deceased, do? He concocts a way to spend eternity, of course.
Because what else could you do?
P.S. You might want to read Asimov's The Last Question first, which I also loved.

This review will obviously have spoilers. Its a short story, its impossible not to have spoilers!
The Last Answer by Isaac Asimov is about a man who dies and moves on to an eternal existance. Is he now in heaven or hell? We don't know. What we do know is that there is another being there known as the "Voice". The whole story is based around the dialogue between the Voice and our protagonist, Murray Templeton.
Similar to The Last Question, Asimov, through the dialogue between the Voice and Murray, discusses the concepts of time, eternity and existentialism. However instead of having the focus on the future of human kind, instead the focus is on the idea of afterlife and whether an afterlife would have a purpose.
Asimov, however, does not offer any answers. Instead he only invokes the reader to ask more questions. For some readers this may be confronting and frightening as the idea of an eternity is delving completely into the unknown. Nevertheless there is a lot to gain from this reading. The reality of death and the idea that our existance may not go on forever is worth contemplating.
I recommend this story to everyone. If you've never pondered about your own death and the after life, this is a great read to begin that journey.

A brief deliberation on the concept of eternity. For some, life's value is derived from its limited quantity. With that no longer being a limiting factor, from whence does life or consciousness derive meaning? The Last Answer draws a surprising conclusion to this question.

I really enjoyed "The Last Question" by Asimov, but I feel "The Last Answer" is lacking in the cleverness and originality that made "The Last Question" really enjoyable for me. I don't believe this short story is necessarily bad, but I feel that I was tricked into believing this short story would resemble or be as good as "The Last Question" because of the similar titles.

واو. واو. اصلا محشر.
انتظار داشتم یه مشت داستان کوتاه کسل کننده ببینم ولی از همون اول کتاب جذب شدم تا آخرش.
بعد هر داستان می گفتم خب بذارم کنار برم بقیشو بعد بخونم ولی از همون صفحه اول داستان بعدی دوباره کشیده می شدم.
در کل کتاب محشری بود. پر از خلاقیت.
آدم بعد از خوندنش تازه می فهمه یه سری خزعبلات تو ذهنش در واقع داستان علمی تخیلی ان :D
