Forgetmenot

Rate this book
Forgetmenot is the opening short story in the Tales of Merrie England in the 473rd century.

Space has been tamed with the development of faster than light travel via ‘non-space’; meetings and wars and friendships and eventual long-lasting peace between the twenty-nine space-faring species in the Galaxy and changes of every sort, technical, social and otherwise, too numerous to mention have taken place. One thing that survived and thrived throughout all this time is England with what for many, many centuries had been the longest surviving monarchy in all known history.

In the 473rd century (47237, to be precise) things are at a nexus point, momentous changes are about to take place that will not just affect England, but will change the lives of virtually every sentient being in the Galaxy.

Read the opening salvo in what will be a Space Opera of epic proportions...

Sorry, but presently it's forget-me-yes

It's suffering from very new writer syndrome. At least I hope so.
Not good, not yet. Needs a thorough edit, punctuation needs addressing and rambling sentences need tightening. Then maybe it would be enjoyable, because there are some good ideas hidden in here and a couple of unusual characters that show promise.
An example:
'Everything was fine for a further full two hours and then the dramatic event that happened was that Patrick and I, had ordered some food and drinks from the autoserve and the drinks came out cold not hot.'
Hmm, a touch underwhelming, but a good example of one of the many sections that needs another edit.
The synopsis was well written - that quality needs to be transferred to the short story.
This was a free download - just as well or I'd be very unhappy right about now!
