Definitely loving this series. Samantha is still trying to get the clerics to undo the warlocking. Werewolves are added to the mix seemingly to much surprise from Samantha. I enjoy the bond between Grey and Samantha also with Kyle and Ivan. I can't wait to find out what Detective Crwys is. Still loving the world with the addition of Ceremonial Magicians and what they are all about.

I don't think I gave this an honest review so I am re-doing it. While this series keeps me interested it will never be one of those I highley recommend as a great read. Here are my reasons: A. This series lack any serious plot development and alot of the time it comes back to the same place over and over again. B. The main heroine isn't really kick-ass as much as stumble on the carpet and fell on her face kind of heroine. Sam just stumbles in to things, with out really knowing what she is doing half the time and while that can be a really good thing sometimes, in this case it just derail's the good parts about the the series. C. While it sure is awesome with a female kick-ass lead which Sam is not. A weak heroine trying hard to be strong but always lands in the hospital or get tricked by people she knows she can't trust. This just makes me want to slap the character and writer for writing her so weak and boring. This series leaves a lot to be desired. It has it's good parts sure but the author needs to take a few lessons from people like Ilona Andrews, Jeaniene frost and Karen Chance. Because when it comes to kick-ass heroine's these authors know their stuff. While Phaedra Weldon needs to sit her ass down and learn.

The third book in the Eldritch Files continues as Sam is coming to terms that Grey is more than her familiar. The Clerics have yet to remove her warlocking and the only thing keeping her sane is the Arcane Magic that resides within her. An Alpha Werewolf blackmails her to guarantee she will help him fine two of his missing pack mates. Sam has so much on her plate she doesn’t know where to even start.

Sam is such a funny character. She is fights for what is right even if it goes against the witch community, the police or whoever gets in her way. Crwys is a mystery that needs to be cracked. He’s been around for a very long time and Sam just can’t figure out what he is and to be fair I had my guess and I was wrong.

My Musings:

One more book to whet my Samantha Hawthorne's addiction! Now that I have finished the available books, I can't wait to read more. But before that, let's look at what makes this book tick.

So the first two books introduces us to Faeries and witches, Phaedra-style. Now it's time to read about other sectors of the population of Sam's world. The author has done a good job of not overwhelming us with all the details in the first book. We are slowly and steadily exposed to more of the different factors, both good and bad. The series actually reminds me of games which expose features in different levels. Same way, each book enriches our imagination step by step.

The novella has a Do-or-Die start and progresses into a race against time. Elemental Moon is equal parts action and magic. Samantha's race against the venom infection, the showdown against the Magicians and the final confrontation with Ina's friend make for a compelling read. Yeah, another super villain added to the pile at Sam's feet.

This time, there is more romance added to the tale. There are so many 'Awww' moments. Samantha and Crwys, of course! though for a second there I thought it might change, Kyle and Jack and then finally Ivan and the mysterious lady add the oomph factor. I see an emotional depth to Kyle this time around. Samantha is shown as more vulnerable while Ivan and Crwys remain as they are, protective of Sam. And Arcane is the best part of it all.The subtleties of the magic system is woven with an expert hand. We see the evolution of the arcane magic in an individual, how it corrupts and tries to overwhelm a person. The story is interesting enough to hold you captive for a few hours. So in short, I would say, "Go for it!". I would recommend it to the urban fantasy genre lovers.

My one line review : A race against time scenario with romance mixed in makes a captivating read!

My rating: 4/5

My reread factor: 4/5

The Eldritch Files is fast becoming one of my favorite series in Urban Fantasy! In this installment, Sam finds herself between a rock and a hard place. Her elementals have been taken from her by the Clerics and a werewolf as infected her with his venom. Sam has to work with the pack to find the missing wolves before the venom takes effect and turns her into a were as well. At the same time she is dodging the Clerics, a nasty magician and the evil Dionsysus.

I think the best part for me was that Sam and Crwys finally got back together!!! I was a little worried that Weldon was going to have Sam date Bastien to throw a wrench in Sam and Crwys. I was a little afraid the Lycans and the magicians would overload the series with too many factions but I think Weldon did a good job of introducing them to expand the series without making it bloated. I would hate to see Eldritch files go the way of Sookie Stackhouse where every new character ended up in a relationship with Sookie. Luckily, it looks like Crwys and Sam are in it for the long haul.

The last chapter was a doozie but I'm not worried, I have a feeling that Sam will rescue our hero in the nick of time.

Bye bye sleep, I found something to keep me awake! This series is awesome!!!! As soon as the other book was done I HAD TO buy this book. Wow Phaedra is now firmly one of my favorite authors! I love the relationships between the characters, the team work, the possibility of something between Crwwys and Sam. Then BAM! Not only is Sam still unsure of her relationship with Robin, and her strong urges and feelings for Crwwys....yet ANOTHER hot Alpha male is in her life. Only this one is by force. Bastian the Lycan Alpha thrusts her into his world with no warning with a bite. Either she finds his missing family before she turns into one of them which will result in him removing the curs; or she doesn't find them and becomes his mate permanently.

I really recommend you read this series. So worth it!

Excellent, as always!

Sam's in trouble, as usual. Her powers sealed by the council in charge of policing witches, she is expected to turn to madness and die. Except they don't know she has the witches hammer bound to her permanently and has access to the forbidden Arcane. It's power is destructive and as she fights to contain to she also fights the fever that precludes her turning into a Lycan, thanks to a bite from the local Alpha. She's on a deadline to find a missing Lycan and her unborn child. If she fails, she will become one and the mate of the Alpha. If she wins, Cryws is by her side, fighting for her, and promises to tell her what he is at last. But things never go as expected when it comes to Samantha. A must read for anyone who has read the first books in this series or the Grimoire Chronicles!

I downloaded the Eldritch Files- books 1-3 as a Collection . This book was book 3 in the anthology. I downloaded the Eldritch Files- books 1-3 as a Collection . This book was book 3 in the anthology. As I mentioned in my review of book 2, the author shows so much promise. Once again she condenses potentially full-length novels into novellas. I enjoyed the addition of the werewolves-- great plot line, but Sam is too dense to see obvious clues in front of her, reducing her character to a weak protagonist. There's still so much to discover about the overall series story thread, but I'm done. This book didn't advance the characters so much as stall the plot to draw things out endlessly... the following books seem way over-priced for the page count.

this series is getting better and better...

sam is still warlocked and kept away from her elementals...she has now also been bitten by a wolf so that she can be forced to do as they wish...find the missing wolf that is having a baby...

all this with fighting off the arcane..that seems to be taking over and not in a good way

can she do it in time before the wolf virus takes over and she turns....

Oh, oh, oh, it's magic...

Witches, magicians, my fans, oh my! How much trouble and pain can one witch survive? Lots of intrigue, backstabbing, love, and loss to keep you reading and I need to read the next book to see if all is made right in the world. It is a good thing I don't have any arcane magic because the story would have ended differently if I did! A great read!

Sucked into the story

Again, I lose sleep because I can't put the book down. I'm going to read the next installment, but I need a breather and some sleep. Samantha just can't catch a break. She gets out of the current crisis with the help of friends, but there is always something worse second the next corner. My hope is that somehow, she will find happiness in the end.

My first read

This is the first book in this series I have read but it is definitely not the last. There is romance, adventure, excitement and shifters and mystery thrown in for good measure.

I liked the story. Thing I'm not sure is the choice of the title... There's nothing in the name of the series or the title of the book that makes me have a connection with the story. I mean, it's been three weeks since I read it and I had to read the excerpt to remember what the book was about....

We got some answers

I enjoy the series, some of the answers are predictable. Sam is becoming stronger, at the beginning she is letting everyone basically walk all over her. I'm glad she is growing some back bone and not going totally crazy.

Another great read. Honestly, these books are so engrossing that they are almost impossible to put down. With each new book, more and more information is gleaned about the characters, which only adds to the enjoyment. Next up, "Elemental Flame (The Eldritch Files Book 4)"

Good tension

I love the way this series is building, both short and long-term. Ina continues to have influence, which builds a good sort of learning curve for Sam. The tension between Cryws and Bastien is really well done...and hopefully not over.
