A woman afraid to give in. A man willing to risk it all. A story written in the stars with a surprise neither saw coming.
Aubrey After three years of pining over the same man, you’d think I’d have this incessant blush under control. But that couldn’t be farther from the truth.
When the man of my dreams offers to walk me home, I take it as a friendly gesture. Although that quickly changes when he says, “f*ck it” and kisses me with desperation.
Shane Jefferson is off-limits. He’s older and my overly protective brother’s coach. But after a night of passion where I gift him my virginity, I’m willing to face the risks. Only things take a turn when the little stick in my hand shows up positive.
Will I be able to make this work and keep my family whole? Or will telling my brother the truth land Shane and I in the penalty box forever?
Shane I knew Aubrey Ford was the woman I’d been waiting for. From her delicate smile and soft voice to her spreading blush every time she met my gaze, she held me captive.
But one thing stood in our way. Her brother.
I tried keeping my distance and doing right by him, but now that she carries my child, that’s no longer possible. I’ll do anything to protect her, whether it’s from her brother, or her own health.
Because this time, nothing will stop me from claiming her heart, and we’ll fight our way to happily ever after.
Always Been Yours is a pro hockey romance filled with swooning moments, friendly banter, lots of spice, a crazy found family, and a guaranteed happily ever after. It is book four in the Sticks and Stilettos series, and can be read as a standalone. Although for the full experience, it is recommended to read the books in order.
Chloe Rouxel is a Canadian writer who lives for romance and good books. A hopeless romantic at heart, you can always find her writing down notes about the perfect love story. Whether that involves a golden-retriever hero, or a morally gray alpha, she’ll think of a way to make you fall in love with him.
When she’s not spending her days trying to tame her three young wildlings, she’s lost to the voices in her head with her laptop in hand, daydreaming about her many many book boyfriends.
I was so excited to get an ARC for this book. This is the Hockey Romance series everyone should be reading I have been waiting for Shane and Aubrey’s story since Eternally Yours, the first book in the Sticks and Stilettos series. Shane and Aubrey are attracted to each from the first moment they see each other but their situation keeps them apart until finally he couldn’t stay away any longer. Definitely loved the F*** it moment. ❤️An amazing hockey romance from beginning to end. Shane is perfect for Aubrey, he is sensitive,, loving and supportive and willing to fulfill her every want and need. He helps her find a side of herself she didn’t realize she had. Definitely had me swooning through the entire book. There is plenty of spice 🌶️🥵and a lot of laughs and tears. Aubrey’s brother is incredibly insensitive and hurtful to her in part of this book. I love the found family trope in this book and the entire series. The banter between all of the characters carries over all the way from book one. A lot of love, laughter and support between all the characters in this book. I love Aubrey’s transformation from quiet, people pleaser to a confident woman who is willing to fight for herself and her family and she’s willing to give up anything for the man she has fallen head over heels in love with. Once I started reading I could not put it down I cannot say enough good things about the Sticks And Stilettos series and this book. I definitely recommend adding it to your TBR. This book is a stand alone but I definitely recommend starting from book one You won’t be disappointed. The romance between Shane and Aubrey is written in the stars⭐️. I’m definitely sad this is the last book in the series for now but am hoping there will be more. I am looking forward to reading Julian’s story in Suits and Stilettos series!
ARC review Antecdotal thoughts while reading Sticks and Stilettos series Aubrey and Shane get their spotlight moment. Aubrey, 💯 nothing wrong with your decisions, choices, and feelings. How old is Shane that he is a head coach? Age gap romance? ✋️ 💋 suave move there buddy. Oh wow 🎁 How could it keep getting worse and worse? How is that possible? 🫣 The rescue 💃 and blanket. 😍 What the frick...needed bodyguards?! Well, that doesn't sound creepy at all. 🤥 That is complicated. How protective is Greyson? That's a lot of responsibility. 🧁 🍪 🥧 🎂 Again stalkerish...or just really observant? 🤣 poor Octavia A bakery that closes at 11p.m.? Helpful and a gentleman 👌 Aubrey getting right to the heart of it. First, thank you so much for allowing me to ARC read this in exchange for my honest opinion! I always appreciate the opportunity to discover new authors, and I’m so glad I had the chance to read this one.
Secondly, this was my very first book by this author, and I can honestly say it was absolutely worth picking up. Whenever I jump into an established series, I always worry that I’ll feel lost or like I’m missing important details, but that wasn’t the case here. Even though I hadn’t read the previous books, I was able to follow the story without any trouble, and everything made sense as I continued reading.
That being said, this book definitely made me want to go back and start the series from the beginning. There were enough little connections and familiar faces that made me realize how much history these characters share, and now I want to experience all of those stories for myself.
One of my favorite parts of this book was the incredible sense of family. The huge group surrounding the MMCs and FMC felt so genuine and welcoming. They weren’t just side characters filling space—they each added something meaningful to the story. Whether it was the support they offered, the humor they brought, or the love they shared, they created such a warm atmosphere that made this world feel alive.
I absolutely love books with strong family dynamics, and this one delivered that perfectly. There was so much love, loyalty, and support woven throughout the story that it made every emotional moment hit even harder. Those relationships gave the book so much heart and made me feel like I was becoming part of their family while reading.
The writing was engaging, heartfelt, and easy to become immersed in. The characters were lovable, the story flowed well, and I found myself genuinely invested in everything that was happening.
Overall, this was a wonderful introduction to both this author and the series. It left me wanting more, and that’s always a sign of a great read. I’ll definitely be going back to read the earlier books because if they’re anything like this one, I know I’m going to love them just as much. 💕📚⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This story truly does feel like a love written in the stars and sped up by fate. Aubrey (23) is a shy baker who blushes at the slightest attention, she’s sweet and kind. Shane (37) is her brother’s hockey coach who’s been quietly obsessed with her since they met four years ago. He falls fast and hard, vowing to make her his when the time is right. Their chemistry is sweet, steady, and impossible to ignore. Both have had a secret obsession with each other over years. Keeping trinkets, sending small gifts, tongue tied conversations and stolen glances.
“I love that you’re just as obsessed with me as I am with you.”
Aubrey grows into herself beautifully, even when the accidental pregnancy throws her off. To her, everything is moving so fast she is struggling to catch up. She knows she loves Shane and wants to be with him, but isn’t sure what the future looks like. Shane’s protectiveness and steady presence is such a green flag. He truly puts her first in all aspects of life. I loved how Shane was patient and thoughtful with Aubrey because this was her first relationship.. and many other firsts too. It was a lot of fun to read as the chemistry grew and their relationship developed. There is some spice!! Aubrey learns what she wants and Shane is more than happy to give it to her.
“And maybe it’s only been a month, but I feel like I’ve always been yours, Aubrey.”
The found family is real in this one. I love the teammates, the families, and the friends! There are too many to name but they all are such an important component to the story. They offer warmth, advice, and the glue that holds it all together.
A part that I struggled with was Aubrey’s brother and how he reacted when he found out they are together and expecting. He genuinely says some awful words and his actions are horrific. All while the family and his wife stands by in silence. Shane stepping in for Aubrey is one of the most satisfying moments in the book. The extra stress isn’t good for Aubrey and the baby, so he steps in to put a stop to it. For me, the ending and the wedding scene didn’t work for me. I was like “really” it went that way.
Always Been Yours is tender and it’s messy in the way real emotions are. I really enjoyed watching Aubrey find her voice and choose the love that chose her first.
A huge thank you to Chloe Rouxel for the early copy!
Chloe definitely did it again. This woman can't disappoint 😁
Shane... I just say "swoon, swoon, triple swoon 🥰". You can read this book as a standalone, but if you want the whole experience about Shane and Aubrey, I highly recommend reading all books in this series, because their story begins at the wedding of Cecilia and Silas. AND the books are soooo good. Yes, they might have a few "non-liked" tropes, but for me, the books are more than just perfect, and yes, they are worth reading even with these tropes.
So back to this one... Aubrey was always a little wallflower. She blushes every time someone just talks a tiny bit about smex. And when it came to Shane, oooh, blushing isn't even a word enough 🙈 She's just so cute. It's a bit like "Never Been Kissed".
It took them 4 freaking years to finally make a real step. But this step caused a lot of problems. The biggest one, and the reason why Shane didn't do it earlier, is Aubrey's big brother Greyson (book 3). Honestly, if he didn't already have his story, I'm pretty sure Emma wouldn't have taken him. There is no word in any language I know (ok, I only know two) to describe these attitudes. I wanted to jump into the book and kick him in his 🍑. Honestly, not just in his 🍑 but in his ⚽ too! 🤬🤬🤬 I was absolutely furious! No, that's not even enough.
But Shane is sooo cute. Not just how he handled this situation, but the other "situation" too 🥹
There is also a lot to laugh about in this book. My favorite scene was when Shane and Clay were alone with all the kids, because yes, the gang is having a lot of babies 🙈
I'm now sooooo excited about the Storm brothers series 🤩 especially Julian the robot or ice king... But what happened near the end of the book just made me 🥹 I'm convinced he's not that icy 🩷
Thanks to the author for trusting me with a BETA 🩷
I absolutely loved this book. Chloe did a wonderful job writing these books, and yes I did cry again. This is the 4th book in this series. These can be read as stand-alones, but it’s preferred if you read them from the beginning since the characters are all the same and you will get little bits of information about these two. Shane and Aubrey’s story has always been a background kind of thing until now. After four years of pinning and yearning they get together. They stop fighting the attraction and pull they have towards each other and literally say fuck it. I’m in love with Shane. He is the absolute sweetest man ever. He’s always making sure Aubrey is happy and has anything she needs or wants. Being with Shane has changed Aubrey. She has finally found her voice. She’s more open about her feelings and finally stands up for herself. I was so proud of her. I felt so sad for her with the way Greyson was treating her(I cried during these parts). He pissed me off so much. I just wanted to jump into the story and tell him off. He loves so ferociously, but he doesn’t think before her speaks or acts. I was so relieved he finally got his head out of his ass and came around. But I do think he needs help for that anger problem of his. Aubrey had a rough pregnancy, but Shane was by her side through everything. He made sure she was healthy and happy. Shane’s best friend Juilan surprised me during this book. He made sure Aubrey was taken care of while Shane was traveling with the team. He wanted her and the baby to be safe. Julian finally showed some of his softer more caring side and I am so here for that. Even with all the chaos and drama and pregnancy scares, Shane and Aubrey get the happily ever after they deserve. I’m looking forward to reading more by Chloe, especially the stories about the Storm Brothers. Oh I also want to know what’s in the water in these books, because something’s going on with how many kids these women keep popping out 😂
Always Been Yours (ARC) – 5 ⭐️ 📅 Release Date: 17th July 2026
This is the final book in the Sticks & Stilettos series, & what a ride it has been! If you’re a fan of hockey romance with an incredible found family dynamic, this is a series you won’t want to miss.
Shane, the head coach of the hockey team, & Aubrey, a talented baker, have had undeniable chemistry simmering beneath the surface throughout the series. Unfortunately, several complications kept them apart, making the anticipation for their story even stronger. When they finally get their chance, it is everything I hoped for & more.
Shane is patient, supportive, & completely devoted to Aubrey. He sees her worth even when she struggles to see it herself & encourages her to step outside of her comfort zone. Their relationship feels genuine, heartfelt, & full of mutual respect. The emotional connection between them made every moment together feel earned.
Aubrey’s character growth was one of my favourite parts of the book. Watching her evolve from someone who constantly puts others first into a confident woman who stands up for herself & pursues what she truly wants was incredibly satisfying. Her journey felt authentic & inspiring.
As with the rest of the series, the found family aspect shines. The friendships, banter, & unwavering support between the characters add so much heart to the story. It genuinely feels like coming home every time these characters are together.
There is plenty of spice, lots of laughs, emotional moments, & a romance that will have you rooting for Shane & Aubrey from beginning to end. Once I started reading, I couldn’t put it down.
This was the perfect ending to the Sticks & Stilettos series. I’m sad to say goodbye to these characters, but I can’t wait to see what’s next in the Suits & Stilettos series.
And on a personal note, opening the acknowledgements & seeing my name there had me crying. To be included in a book that I already loved so much was such an unexpected & emotional moment. It means more than I can put into words, & it made this final visit with these characters even more special❤️
The second this ARC dropped on my kindle I dropped everything I was reading and immediately started it. Having read the previous book in the series (Make Us Yours) as an ARC read and seeing Shane and Aubrey’s blossoming feelings for one another and the YEARNING, I was chomping at the bit for their story. And considering I devoured an almost 600 page book in like a day, I think it’s safe to say this book did not disappoint. While the two main characters have been pining for one another for four years, this book is a fast burn because they finally give in to their feelings and there’s no pumping the brakes after that.
The spice was 🥵, the found family in this series is perfection and I’m someone who loves a little drama, so when the “forbidden” love is revealed to everyone and it’s not fully accepted at first, I just ate that right up. Yes please, I’ll take a second helping of angst any day of the week. 💁🏼♀️
The unplanned pregnancy trope is also one of my favorites and the MMC that Shane is taking care of Aubrey and his “Little Star” is EVERYTHING. 😍 Aubrey being younger and inexperienced led to some seemingly immature reactions to things, but nothing was ever drawn out and there’s no 3rd act breakup. But despite that, she was such a lovable and sweet character and pregnancy hormones Aubrey was hilarious. Shane on the other hand was absolute perfection, secure in his feelings for Aubrey, steadfast and SO swoonworthy. A+ green flag MMC writing on this one, Chloe.
And as someone who loves to love side characters and tends to obsess over them more than main characters at times, JULIAN. My god, JULIAN. 😍🥵 PRINCESS JULIAN. 👑🤣 I’m dead, I’m obsessed, I love him so much. That is how you write a character and ensure that people will automatically pick up the next book you write because you know it’s about them, and I need his book RIGHT. NOW.
What to expect when reading:
🏒 Hockey Romance 🧁 Virgin FMC 🏒 Forbidden Love 🧁 Age Gap (24/37) 🏒 Older Brother’s Coach 🧁 Accidental Pregnancy 🏒 Found Family
Book #4 in the Sticks and Stilettos series - amazing!! 5 stars from start to finish!!!
This book follows Coach Shane Jefferson - head coach of the Griffins, and Aubrey Ford - sister to Greyson, who is one of the players on the Griffins hockey team. After four years of attraction and never acting on it, they both reached their breaking point and let the magic happen. And after Shane gives Aubrey her first ever kiss, neither of them want to go back to being awkward and uncomfortable around each other.
This book will seriously have you in your feels the entire time! From Shane and Aubrey finally getting together and expressing how much they are really into each other, to the drama we see with Greyson after he finds out what’s going on between his coach and his sister, and the change in the group/family dynamic when this all spirals into something much greater. We get introduced to Shane‘s entire family and his true identity and legacy are revealed to the group. We also get to see lots more of Shane‘s best friend and billionaire tech and security genius Julian (can’t wait for his book)!!
It is beautiful and expressive and emotional, spicy but also so lovingly sensual. Shane is literally the perfect man and such a golden retriever. We do get the age gap insecurities, lack of education insecurities (from Aubrey), unplanned pregnancy, Shane’s ex-wife still being in the picture, health concerns during a pregnancy, family drama that gets a bit intense between Wolf & Aubrey (prepare yourself), and lots of new babies born into the family. But there are also so many hilarious parts in this book! There is one section that literally had my stomach cramping; I was laughing so hard I could not breathe!!! I cannot wait for everyone else to read this book. It is just so amazingly written!
5.0 🌟 3.0 🌶️
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review
Reading this as an ARC was just as beautiful as the first time I got a glimpse at this beautiful story.
Aubrey is a beautiful, kind soul that loves to bake and more importantly loves Shane - her brother's coach, and her longtime crush. Shane is a devoted, loyal and caring hockey coach that has been pining for Aubrey in secret. For fear of upsetting the balance of his team, Aubrey's relationship and risking it all.
They will face many challenges not only from the acceleration of their relationship, but also the adversity that comes with finally choosing each other. This is a beautiful representation of that love does conquer all as Aubrey finds her voice and stands up to Greyson. She will not sacrifice anymore and is finally choosing herself, her happiness and that is something to be admired.
Packed full with found family, swoon-worthy romance, spice that will have you panting and craving chocolate, turmoil that will make you cry. Not to mention the little moments that are meant for you, the reader. You'll find passion, strength, and comfort as you experience Aubrey and Shane's story. I love this series so much as it expands on so many different emotions and experiences which make you feel seen and not alone. The author's ability to create such an amazing and incredible atmosphere within pages is something to appreciate. The care and craft that goes into each character and book is truly a gift. This series inspires and gives hope. It's not just another hockey romance, but it's proof that good things do happen, can happen and that love will prevail if you give yourself the chance.

Always Been Yours by Chloe Rouxel is an age-gap hockey romance that had me hooked from the very beginning. He's a 37-year-old hockey coach who has secretly been in love with his player's little sister for years, and she's been quietly crushing on him right back. The tension, the longing, the "what if" moments... I ate it up.
Everything changes when he shows up at her job on her birthday with a gift and walks her home, and from there their story just blossoms. I loved that this wasn't full of unnecessary drama. The obstacles felt realistic—the age gap, his past marriage, her overprotective brother (who definitely had some opinions 😂)—but at its core, this is a sweet, heartfelt love story about two people who have always belonged together.
And can we talk about this man for a second? Because WOW. He is patient, protective, caring, and completely devoted to her. The way he respects her, supports her, and makes her feel loved had me swooning the entire book. Chloe Rouxel really gave us the definition of a book boyfriend with this one.
If you love age-gap romance, hockey men, mutual pining, a protective hero who falls hard, and a love story that will leave you kicking your feet and grinning, definitely add this one to your TBR ToDAY!!!
I've been impatiently waiting for Shane and Aubrey's story, and every page reminded me why they deserved this moment.
The years of quiet longing made every moment between them feel earned, and once they finally chose each other, I couldn’t stop smiling. Shane is the definition of a book boyfriend. Patient, devoted, endlessly supportive, and completely gone for Aubrey. Watching Aubrey grow into someone who finally put herself first made their love story even more rewarding.
This book gave me everything I love in a romance. The found family, the banter, the emotional moments, and the perfect balance of heart and spice kept me hooked from beginning to end. I laughed, I teared up, and I loved seeing how fiercely everyone showed up for each other, even when things got messy.
While this can be read as a standalone, I think reading the series first makes Shane and Aubrey’s happily ever after even more special. I flew through this book and wasn’t ready to say goodbye to these characters. It was heartfelt, swoony, emotional, and the perfect ending to a series that has completely stolen my heart.
The only thing harder than finishing this book was saying goodbye to these characters.
~~~~
Huge thank you to the lovely Chloe Rouxel and her Team for the ARC! 😍 All my bookish thoughts are completely my own. ✨
AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have not stopped screaming throughout reading this book! I have been somewhat patiently waiting for Aubrey's time to shine...or blush uncontrollably should I say.
I was completely captivated not just by how perfect Shane and Aubrey are together but by how beautifully there story unfolds. Ive never wanted to be part of a friend group so much than I do with these girls, and their men, they are the most supportive found family and come together when its needed perfectly, this series has bought me so much joy as well as some scary lows but in the best way.
If you are looking for a series that will quite literally keep you on the edge of your seat, gagging for more and more twists and turns than a rollercoaster then this is the series for you.
I was certainly not ready to say goodbye to this chapter in their lives and truly cannot wait to see them all again in the future, Jules I am looking at you baby!
I would highly recommend this book as well as the previous books in the series and quite frankly anything that Chloe writes! For fans of Hockey Romance, Age Gap, Forbidden Romance, Accidental Pregnancy, Found Family and some very delicious Spicy Goodness.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and genuinely wish I had read the others in the series. Although it can definitely be read as a standalone, it is suggested that the books should be read in order. Despite this, previous characters do feature in Always Been Yours, so I got a flavour of the previous stories.
Always Been Yours follows a storytelling style I am particularly taken with, in which the will-they-won’t-they theme is resolved early and replaced by the question: can it work? I should mention that this is a spice-filled book, but the story is strong enough that it doesn't feel gratuitous.
Aubrey is beautifully naïve but knows her mind. She has been infatuated with Shane since they first met and has fallen in love with his kindness and handsome looks. I loved Aubrey as, in many ways, she reminded me of my younger self. Her determination to find success isn’t driven by her need for a man but is enhanced by the sense of security she feels once she’s in a relationship.
Shane is a top-tier book boyfriend. Kind, considerate, and incredibly successful, he definitely brought the heat to this book's spicy elements. Yet despite his reservations, he was as invested in Aubrey as she was in him. That kind of dedication is swoon-worthy.
I enjoyed the supporting cast and was intrigued by their stories. If I can, I will squeeze in the earlier books. What I will certainly do is hope to be included in the upcoming Suits and Stilettoes series, which begins with Julian and Octavia’s story and is set for 2027.
I have been ready and eagerly waiting for Shane and Aubrey’s story! And it did not disappoint.
Aubrey is the shy baker who has been attracted to Shane for years but she knew Greyson, her older brother, would never approve of her dating his coach. I loved how the romance started building for these two in the previous book in the series and how everyone, except Grey, knew it. Aubrey had some major character development in this book going from the meek and timid to someone willing to fight for what she wants, even if that means choosing between her brother and the man she loves. Shane from the get go is always the dedicated romantic and you can’t help but swoon for how is he is with Aubrey and how he anticipates her every need!
Plot wise this had a few tense moments and oh wow I never thought I would dislike Grey but for a few moments he was really not popular in my mind. There was the slight pregnancy complications but this one felt more of a love story and how their relationship was in comparison to the others books in this series that had more higher pressure things going on. I loved getting to see more of Julian and yes I’m now eager waiting for his story which can’t come quick enough. This book was everything I wanted for these two with a love that maybe you kick your legs and squeal for how cute it was.
5⭐ hockey romance 🏒 Coach X Baker Accidental pregnancy Age gap Golden retriever MMC Virgin FMC
Wow wow wow! What a book to finish this series on. Chloe Rouxel does not disappoint!!
All the feels were feeling.i absolutely loved Shane and Aubrey from the snippets we had seen in the earlier books and their story exceeded all expectations.
Shane- 😍😍😍 The ultimate golden retriever, sweetheart, swoon-worthy man! Aubrey- 🥰🥰 I felt like a proud mamma reading her come into herself throughout this story.
My fave couple yet!
Well I've never been more sad to have a story end 🥹 Always been yours was everything I never knew I needed! Another 5⭐ read (not that I expected anything different) It gave all the feels. I laughed, I swooned, I felt proud and had a fair few teary moments! A lovely end to a beautiful series. Shane and Aubrey's story stole my heart before I had even started this book! I need me a Shane 😍😍😍 Loved Aubrey's growth throughout this whole story...I felt like a proud mamma! I can't wait for everyone else to read, enjoy and experience these two! Hats off Mrs! You did it again 🫶🫶🫶
Tropes: * Older Brothers Coach * Virgin FMC * Age Gap (24/37) * Accidental Pregnancy * Forbidden Romance
This book was everything! I was so excited to receive the ARC for this book. This is the 4th and final book in the Sticks and Stilettos series, this is following Aubrey and Shane's story. They have both been attracted to each other from the very first moment they laid eyes on each other at Cecilia and Silva's wedding 4 years prior.
This book picks up from just before the end of the last book and the F**k it moment...ah yes i was giddy! I loved seeing Aubrey change and become so much more confident because of Shane, i love how Shane is with Aubrey. How calm Shane was when Aubrey finds out she is pregnant, also it was nice to see Julian soften slightly around Aubrey.
The found family as always i loved so so much. There were plenty of twists and turns that had me emotional — I was crying and furious at different points, and I think everyone will agree Greyson was the reason. Honestly, I wanted Aubrey to make him grovel even more.
Thank you Chloe Rouxel for the ARC - this is one of my all time fav series and I cant wait to do a entire series reread soon ❤️❤️
P.S I'm so excited for Julian's future book
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Such a fun read! It had it all, from making me smile to making me cry (a certain someone 😭). They are such a cute couple who communicate through both their words and actions. Angel. APPLES. I loved it all and was surprised more than I initially expected. I could have read so much more about them because they definitely won my heart over.
Shane carrying around her cravings, buying her presents, and being all in from the beginning. Aubrey taking initiative, making sweets, and understanding his past relationship. They were perfectly written together, a beautiful story that captures the essence of love.
My only regret is the timing. They spent so much time being scared to express their feelings, and I wish we could have seen more of that period because they both secretly wanted each other and did so many cute things. I can’t wait for Julian’s HEA because of how he protected Aubrey and his gift to baby S******a (so many spoilers at the end). I feel like there’s still so much left to unravel. It’s all so sweet 🥲.
If you couldn’t already tell, my favorite side character was, in fact, Julian.
Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Always Been Yours was such a sweet, heartfelt hockey romance! The story follows a hockey coach who's been “secretly” in love with one of his player's sisters for years, and the best part is that the feelings are completely mutual. The tension and longing between them made every interaction worth the wait.
One of my favorite things about this book was how attentive and caring the MMC was. He was incredibly patient with the FMC and handled her insecurities with so much understanding and reassurance. Their relationship felt genuine, and it was easy to root for them from the very beginning.
The pacing flowed well throughout the story, keeping me engaged without ever feeling rushed. I also loved seeing characters from previous books make appearances. It added an extra layer for returning readers while still allowing this book to be enjoyed as a standalone.
Overall, this was an enjoyable, feel-good romance with lovable characters and plenty of heart. I can't wait to see what's next from Chloe Rouxel
First of all, the first chapter is so incredible, it hooks you in if you weren’t already invested in the series. I love a good age gap but add in the hockey an family drama and I’m so there. Definitely a wild ride if you’ve followed the series as no one could predict that little Brey could be such a spicy girl!! It’s Also shocking how incredible of a man Shane truly is. Their love is one of fairytales and absolutely beautiful, watching brey basically overnight find herself and love is absolutely beautiful. I loved the characters added in from other books, the author did such a beautiful job with all their character developments. I love this series so much and the deep love Shane has is so beautiful and refreshing to read. For an age gap book if doesn’t feel like one, it reads like they were meant to be! I cannot rave more about how much growth we saw in brey! I loved the dance of family and family isn’t blood that hockey created this family for the couple. I also loved seeing the softer side of Julian I thought it was super powerful. I am so excited for the next book although there will a long wait!
This is book four in the Sticks and Stilettos series, and I was practically giggling like a teenager the second I opened the first few chapters! I've been waiting so eagerly for this story and Baby Ford's HEA!
Aubrey's transformation is absolutely incredible. Watching her grow from a shy, innocent, and easily flustered girl into someone who knows exactly what she wants and isn't afraid to stand up for herself was stunning. She goes from avoiding the spotlight and just settling for things, to grabbing her own happiness and holding onto it with both hands.
And the catalyst for this whole transformation? Shane, and his pure love and devotion to his Angel! It took them almost four long years to finally cross that line, but oh my god, this book was worth every single second of the wait!
The story is packed with joy, laughter, an overbearing found family that loves to meddle, and plenty of awkward, cringey moments full of laugh - but it also brings tears and a strong urge to slap Greyson across the face! I've completely fallen in love with this author and desperately hope we get a book for the Storm brothers next!
This was a story that had me on a roller-coaster of emotions. This can be read as a standalone but there are definitely some things that are lightly mentioned that happened in other books in the series that aren't explained.
Aubrey is a total sweetheart who goes through alot of growth when it comes to voicing her wants. She has watched Shane for years but becomes a shy mess around him. Shane was a true gentleman and was perfect for Aubrey. The accidental pregnancy trope may not be for everyone but this was a well done one.
I think everyone will agree that Greyson is the only reason to be mad at in the book. He needed to GROVEL alot more than he did. I found what he said and did especially at very important moments to be unforgivable.
I enjoyed the ARC and I am so interested in Julian's future book!!
This book had me all in my feels! Shane is the perfect man… and Aubrey deserves the world! Their story was fast but so alive and kept me on my toes. Aubrey and Shane were made for each other and seeing their relationship evolve on page was so much fun. Shane would do anything for Aubrey and would never give up on her. There is a lot of spice but balances perfectly with tender moments.
The side characters added so much to the story. I was laughing and crying and embracing their chaotic world. Greyson still has more groveling to do imo. Julian… I LOVE him even though he’s so robotic, his relationship with Audrey and how he shows up for her and the baby made me fall in love with him too. I was A-OK for another MFM situation, but that ending is making me very excited for what Chloe has next!
It is definitely a long book which can be a struggle for me especially when their relationship moves quickly. I had to put it down a few times but was excited to pick it back up every time. Sometimes I would be annoyed with certain characters but overall it did not take away from my experience.
I have read many of the books in this series and with every book I soaked up every little detail Chloe would give us about Aubrey and Shane’s story. The background: these two are timid around each other. And got a good reason: he’s the head coach of her brother’s hockey team. Oops!!! Doesn’t stop them from feeling all the feels. And it’s adorable watching these two as they fall deeper for each other. The focus of this book is built around what happens when these two give in to their feelings for each other. And an accidental pregnancy pushes the two to put their love front and center. I have waited with excitement for this book. And so happy that the focus was on the journey of their relationship as a couple and throughout Aubrey’s pregnancy. It’s a refreshing perspective for a romance book. And I loved it! The supporting cast is equally fun. Aubrey’s sister in law is one of my faves. Their chemistry together is spot on. Absolutely loved this read and would definitely ask that you pick it up!!
Thank you to the author for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. 3.75 out of 5 stars. In the beginning, I initially wasn’t sure if it was going to be the right fit for me. The beginning was a little harder for me to settle into, as I struggled somewhat with the instant connection once Aubrey and Shane really started interacting. That is also to blame on me going into this book without reading the previous books in the series, so I occasionally felt a little lost with some of the background information and character details being introduced. After that, I found myself enjoying the story more and more as I continued reading. I definitely preferred the second half of the book as I got more connected to the characters and their relationship. I also enjoyed the accidental pregnancy aspect, and I really liked Aubrey and Shane together. Shane’s protective side was one of my favorite things about his character, and I loved seeing the care and support he showed for Aubrey.
Review... Well where do I start? This book was everything... Amazingly Written, Chloe did it again. This is book 4 in series and absolutely loved it as much as the other books in the series. You can read this book as a standalone but Aubrey and Shane's story has been on going in the back ground from book 1. I highly recommend reading the whole series. Aubrey and Shane's story was 💋 😘 beautiful and everything you need to complete a series. After 4 years they finally get together and in the most perfect way. Ok Greyson needed a slap but he finally sorted himself out. But wow wow wow. I love this whole series, I really do. I cant wait for the Storm brothers... I feel a story between Tavie and Julian (or maybe that's what im hoping for.) Amazing. If you love Age gap, Hockey romance, Older brothers boss, Forbidden romance and accidental pregnancy... Preorder this book now...
I am normally not a huge fan of the age gap trope, but I thought it worked with this one.
I absolutely loved the relationship with Shane and Aubrey. Shane is a walking green flag the entire book and was so attentive to Aubrey and what she needed. Aubrey’s transformation was amazing, from people pleaser to standing up for herself and showing more confidence.
Grey on the other hand, was horrible! I understand being protective, but come on! His behavior was so selfish and uncalled for. I am glad he figured it out in the end (with lots of tough love from friends).
Great spice. Great banter.
Now I need to go back and read the rest of the series because I started with this one. Also excited to see more of Julian in the Suits and Stilettos series.
I received this book as an advanced copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I have been waiting what felt like forever for Aubrey and Shane! Now that their story is here, I am so sad to say goodbye to these characters! I fell so in love with them over the course of 4 books, that this ending was bittersweet.
Now, I really did enjoy Shane and Aubrey. Their story was a long time coming and everyone could see over the course of the other books how much they orbitted around each other. I guess, everyone but Gray. I'm glad they finally got their story and did like the storyline of how they finally got together. I even understood the issues Aubrey and Gray had, even when it broke my heart.
While, I am sad this series is over, I am so excited for the next series to come!
Finally! Aubrey and Shane-Squee! I’m so happy to get to read this book ahead of being published. As usual and expected, this author delivered a fantastic read. I think I love this book the most out of all the series. Talk about yearning and slow burn through the previous 3 books. Well, not in this book… We all get what we have been wanting-the spice, the conflict, the chemistry that has been waiting-the ending and Epilogue! I truly love how the author entwines all the other characters from the series into the book. This has been done since book 1, and really makes the group a family. The reader is not left wanting in regards to how everyone else ends up. I highly recommend it!!
