From #1 New York Times bestselling author and FOX News host Trey Gowdy comes the much-anticipated sequel to Color of Death, a twisty and chilling murder mystery in which vengeance and justice are interchangeable and the law becomes a tool for corruption.
When a confidential informant is found murdered and then a witness is executed— with a note taunting Assistant DA Colm Truesdale stapled to his forehead—Colm vows to hunt down the killer, no matter the cost. But as he dives into the investigation, a far more dangerous threat emerges: a ghost from his past, a highly motivated psychopath who has spent years spinning an invisible web designed to destroy him. Every lead Colm pursues draws him deeper into the trap, blurring the line between hunter and hunted.
With his career, his freedom, and perhaps his very life hanging in the balance, Colm must outmaneuver a mind as ruthless as his own. Can he expose the truth before the noose tightens? Or will the prosecutor become the one in cuffs—or worse, in a body bag?
Fresh off their New York Times bestselling success with The Color of Death, Trey Gowdy and Christopher Greyson deliver another electrifying page-turner that plunges deep into the twisted psychology of a ruthless killer—and into the heart of the relentless prosecutor determined to bring him down.

The Sound of Regret is a continuation of his first book, The Color of Death Both are good solid stories that set a fast pace for not wanting to stop reading until the end. Unfortunately, nether the first nor second book brought the reader to the end of the story. This seems to be the start of a new normal for some authors. Instead of paying one price for a complete story, this book morphs into an attempted cliff hanger and gets to charge $30.00 for the additional books. Not sure if this is the author's decision or the publisher's but definitely not good for the consumers. The Sound of Regret is not even 250 pages long and The Color of Death did not make it to 300. However, reading these types of "cliff hangers" leaves the reader less than satisfied.
Please do not take this as a universal condemnation of authors who write series about one lengthy story over multiple book issues. In many cases I'm happy to pay for the next installment. Will I buy Gowdy's next book to discover what happens to his main character? Likely, but regrettably so.
Another "Can't Put Down" from the Gowdy/Greyson team!
Great read. Interesting plot twists. Well written. These two authors showcase the best of each other. Hope they continue these thought provoking, heart felt, glimpses into the minds and souls of those that work within law enforcement on all levels - the good, the bad and the ugly. Along with insightful shots of the 'misdirected' to downright 'evil' criminal mind & soul. And equally important and difficult task of knowing who is who!
Really like this series, and can't wait for the next one...This time Colm Trusdale and his best friend, Captain Rick "Bones" Denton have figured out someone is framing Colm and they don't care how far they go to do it, even if that means committing murder more than once. I really like seeing the legal side to this series, and that it is explained for those not familiar with legal talk. Waiting for the next one...
Needs work on the dialogue. It’s a little stiff and unrealistic. Plus, a lot of things always get unresolved, like in the first novel, ostensibly to make the reader want the next novel. Interesting characters, however, so I do enjoy the series.
I reread the first book so I wouldn’t feel lost. This one is better and better. I love the book, the characters, just loved it all! Seems like there might be a third book! I sure hope so.
Gets and keeps your interest. An interesting set of circumstances and cast of characters. I was a bit disappointed with the abrupt ending but decided it may lead to another book which I look forward to reading.
Another great read by Gowdy and Greyson. The ending left you with another book to follow. Hopefully, this is true. Keep writing and I will keep reading them😊
The second book in the Colm Truesdale series is such a good read! It's fast paced, has lots of twists and turns and will keep you guessing until the end.
