Escort romances are sometimes tricky for me with their inherent power imbalance, but Amanda Meuwissen did a fantastic job crafting Cal and Owen's love story. It was easy to fall in love with their companionship, to separate the payment from the feelings growing between them.

Owen was a tech genius trying to adjust to a new city all on his own. His prior relationship had left him shaken and uncertain about putting himself out there, but he craved comfort and companionship. That's what led him to the escort service Cal worked for, and from their first night together I could sense their potential. Cal's calm steady support was exactly what Owen wanted, and before long they were settling into a cozy partnership that almost made me forget about their arrangement. I had a lot of fun following along as Owen established himself on several data science projects, and it was equally engaging to see what Cal's life was like outside of his time with Owen. I have to give a special shoutout to all the amazing side characters in this book, whether they were Owen's friend group, Cal's fellow escorts, or the numerous people they interacted with in Atlas City. The story felt well-rounded and complete thanks to their presence, whether they were gently nudging Cal and Owen towards each other or lending an ear to listen during stressful times. What struck me about Owen and Cal was how genuinely happy they always were when they were together. That didn't mean there weren't issues to work through -- Cal absolutely had hang-ups about how worthy he was of a partner given his profession and Owen's nasty ex would not leave him alone. Watching Owen and Cal work through those things together is what convinced me they were made for each other, and nothing made me happier than seeing them bare their hearts to one another by the end of the book.

**I voluntarily read an early copy of this book. This review expresses my honest thoughts and opinions.

I had recevied an arc of this book and this is my honest review.

I adored this one, that's the short review. It was sweet, hot, and hit my emotions in really great ways. Even when it was rage because of certain side characters or pain because of certain issues between Cal and Owen.

Now for the real review. I was pleasantly surprised by the way things worked between Owen and Cal. For some reason, for just a little bit at the start, I had expected their dynamic to work differently but of course that very quickly shifted and became obvious they worked a different way and I honestly loved that and their every interaction.

Owen did not hire Cal for what you'd expect and oh how I adored the way Cal went with it and gave Owen exactly what he needed. The things he never recieved like he should have. I could not get enough of this book and the range of emotions that hit me while reading, just made it so much better.

This was a great read, well written, full of feelings and moments that will have you clenching your fists and screaming, sobbing when things don't quite go to plan or something else pops up, jumping for joy when things DO go to plan. It was just a reall fun and interesting read with wonderful characters both main and side and a lovely story.

Cal and Owen

"Everyone needs different things at different points in their lives, and no need is more or less valid than another."

I love a good story that pulls me right in and intrigues me right from the start. I've not read many contemporary stories from Amanda, so I was really excited to dive into this Re-release. I was definitely interested in how a seemingly popular escort could be teased into a romance and how that evolved and where their happily ever after ends up.

I absolutely love the fact that Owen has such a good support team, even when he's however many miles away from them and that they're not leaving him behind simply because he's no longer near them. I know one of them is his sister but I know I can go several days without talking to my own sister, so a semi-regular conversation is always helpful and welcome.
I made the 'mistake' of starting this book after midnight and was so engrossed in the story that I didn't stop until I'd finished the entire thing in one sitting. I'll probably regret the lack of sleep, but I don't regret reading the story all in one go.

There were a few surprises in the direction this plot went, but I loved how each moment was resolved. The few small moments of angst weren't nearly as bad as some stories, because Cal & Owen knew each other so well that any misunderstandings were based on circumstance and the shock factor of immediate disappointment. The way the story was constructed was so fun to follow and I can't help but think this would be yet another fun reread for my future.

A Model Escort was a really welcome shift in my reading catalogue, because it gave me something new to experience while also keeping so many of the moments lighthearted and fun, even when the story took its turns to more serious matters. I'm never quite sure how to describe what I get out of these stories from Amanda, but I know that I always enjoy myself, no matter the overall content.

I received an authorized copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.

A Model Escort by Amanda Meuwissen is being rereleased with a gorgeous new cover. Owen is starting over in a new place after leaving his abusive boyfriend. Afraid to date, but wanting company he reaches out to an escort place and meets Cal. He doesn’t want a sexual relationship with Cal but just the missing intimacy of a relationship. I did really love these two together a lot. Their relationship grew so sweetly and without the introduction of sex. I felt like I knew Owen so well and Cal was an afterthought. He just happened to like similar things to Owen, I would have liked to have seen more character development of him. I also would have loved an epilogue that took us years into the future. What does it look like? Where do they live? What does Cal do for a job? I did enjoy them quite a bit though. I read this in one sitting and was interested from the beginning.

I received an ARC from the author for my honest review.

I am always a fan of unconventional romance pairings in books that would be complicated in reality, which defiantly came into play with an escort and client pairing and Amanda Meuwissen did a wonderful job writing that relationship without making it feel skeezy. Cal and Owen are absolutely wonderful and I am even okay overlooking the idiots in love moments because they did not last long and they did not feel like they were just put there for no reason. The miscommunications that occurred between the two added a layer to their complicated relationship. It is not often that I have read a book where the power dynamics could fall into the hands of the younger one in an age gap relationship, so I really loved that Cal (the older of the two) was the escort and Owen was the one who was technically calling the shots. I adored their chemistry and my heart broke over and over for Owen and could not help but cheer him on as he rebuilt his life after having to deal with the words most douchiest ex. The slow build of their relationship from strangers to friends to eventually lovers was adorable, and 100% believable given Owens history.

Outside of the main characters in this book all of the side characters were great with the exception of two but they get theirs so it’s all good. At the risk of going on and on I to shout out to the author for highlighting sex work in a positive note and not making out to be seedy or unsavory. Thank you for not making Owen hypocritical in his stance on sex workers and making him down right lovable all over.

I usually steer clear of escort books. But the blurb for "A Model Escort" was interesting. And I have a thing for geeky, awkward scientists/techies. Didn't hurt that this was an Amanda Meuwissen story.
Cal and Owen's love story was sweet. Escort stories usually have a power/societal imbalance. But from the start, it seemed escort, Cal, held the power. Hiring an escort fort comfort and cuddling isn't the most original storyline. Neither is the hooker with a heart of gold.
Cal did that whole "I'm not worthy" scenery chewing. And of course we got that touch of danger with Owen's ex. There is the pitfall of misunderstanding. I wasn't surprised that this was a HFN rather than HEA.

Owen and Cal are one of the sweetest couples I have ever read. They have a significant age gap and come from different worlds, but they compliment each other so well. They meet at the perfect time, where they are poised to be exactly what the other needs. Their relationship begins platonic and is a breath of fresh air for both of them. On the face of it, they should work, but they really do. I loved how supportive and sweet they were with each other and neither wanted or expected the other to change. They just wanted to protect each other. It was clear to see how the relationship deepened and blossomed and the way they were able to blend their worlds together was very sweet.

A Model Escort is a sweet, angsty, hurt/comfort story. Owen has pried himself from the clutches of a toxic relationship but still isn't settled on his feet. He hires Cal to fill in the empty spaces in his life - positive social interactions and skin to skin contact, with nothing more. Owen is nerdy and awkward and maybe a little clichéd by occasionally being clumsy, too. Cal and Owen are very sweet and domestic for most of the story. The book gets pretty tense and suspenseful with the poisonous ex and jilted lover working against both men.

Major trigger warning for past domestic violence. It's a big theme in both men's backstories.

I enjoyed A Model Escort by Amanda Meuwissen. I liked Cal and Owen's story. I loved how Owen started over after leaving his abusive relationship and got a better job with a lot more money and high placed and influential bosses. And Owen's sister was smart enough to include a card to an escort service because she knows how hard it is for Owen to make friends and dates, especially after his last relationship. I liked Cal and his outlook on life. He was just what Owen needed. I would have liked a little more chemistry between them, though.

I read an advanced reader copy of this book, and this is my honest opinion.

Owen and Cal story gave me complex feelings as there were things that made me sad, and things that made me happy, but also ones that made me feel conflicted.
They had a unique relationship that evolved, but had their obstacles along the way, they had to learn to communicate truthfully and freely, as well as trust in each other and themselves.
It also had a bit of danger and adrenaline, as well as drama from exes that are difficult on principle.
I was glad they achieved their happiness in the end, and the changes they made in their lives.

4.5 stars. Owen has just moved to a new city, ready for several new jobs and escaping a very bad relationship. He is quite adorably awkward, and very anxious - so to become a bit less lonely and no longer touch starved, he hires Cal. Cal becomed the support in all ways that Owen needs, and Owen's slow growth into confidence was touching. There were quite a few enjoyable side characters, and some who were awful who fit into the plot particularly well.
Thanks for the advance copy, I am happy to leave a voluntary review.

Sweet, slow burn, hurt/comfort

Owen is shy, awkward, absolutely brilliant, in a new place in life after escaping an abusive relationship.
Cal is an escort he hires to help him learn social cues and perhaps more.
I loved the slow burn aspect of their story and that they took their time to actually get to know one another first, becoming friends before things developed physically between them.
There's some minor danger in the form of the abusive ex and a jilted lover but thankfully they're able to resolve everything.

A Model Escort is the story of Owen and Cal. I really enjoyed this book because Owen and Cal felt so real. I could actually see how something like this could happen. It was wonderful watching these two build a relationship as they overcame their insecurities and awful exes. This was just a great story to spend time with. I'm looking forward to seeing whatever Amanda Meuwissen writes next. I would definitely recommend this book.

I just love Owen! He is just so cute, cuddly and brave and i love how confident Cal is. I enjoyed reading their story and seeing how they fell in love. I especially loved the scene with the lord of the rings trivia, i thought that was soo cute. If you loved the movie pretty woman, you will love this story even more and its a must read. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This book was so dang satisfying! Cal and Owen were perfect together, even though their individual insecurities kept them in the friend zone for most of the book. The side stories were well done, and I loved the supportive cast of people in Owen’s new life. I pretty much devoured this in one day. Low angst, low heat, HFN.

This is my honest review of an advanced reader copy.

Cal and Owen were so real. They were both insecure and unsure but presented it very differently. Their connection and feelings caught them off guard. That was the beauty of how the relationship evolved. I adored that there was cuddling. Owen needed safety and connection. We also have an ex that will not go away!

A love story. But what a sweet one! It just feels like cuddling up on the sofa in your favorite blanket with a hot chocolate and just induldging in that slow heated love.
The characters are impassioned and full of warmth, you just want to love them, while the story is low angst but enthralling.
Whenever you need to float away with a wide smile on your face, then this is your book!

I am such a fan of this author’s work - the contemporary just grabs me. Cal is such a complex, interesting character and Owen is a bit fragile but very determined. Their relationship starts out in an unconventional way but the journey is sexy, intimate and unique. Great story!

Actually, let's make that 4.5*. But I really liked how one of the baddies got his comeuppance. The other one... I'd have liked to see more than blacklisting. But it was a fun read.
