Crossroads

Beneath the Faultline

Rate this book
Eighteen‑year‑old Tamsin lives by rules she never chose, inside a religious community that controls everything from belief to body. But the most dangerous line she crosses isn’t written in it’s the pull between her and her adopted brothers, one cruelly devoted to the Church’s power, the other silent, broken, and impossibly tied to her survival.

As faith turns violent and desire becomes defiance, Tamsin must risk everything for a love that was never meant to exist.

ARC- 5 ⭐️

This was so good! I loved it, perfectly dark and unlike anything I’ve read before! Religious cult trapping and trauma bonding these three “siblings” seeing how they turn out and start to rebel against all they’ve known.

How Tamsin started off so clueless was frustrating at times but getting to watch her figure everything out and getting a thirst for revenge was everything. I loved Reid from the start, nothing was making me hate him but to find out why he’s mute actually ruined me and I wasn’t expecting how soft and sweet he actually was as he was so scary in the beginning 😂. I don’t know how to explain how I felt about mateo, I liked him, hated him then liked him again it was abit of a roller coaster there.

The plot had me hooked with so much unknown, twists and turns and at times a lot of gore, I couldn’t put this down. The spice was so good but then it always is from this author, perfect balance of plot and spice in this. The kinks in these books are really awakening kinks I didn’t even know I had 😂.

“She’s been mine since we were little, she just doesn’t know it yet.”

📅 Release date - May 7th

My oh myyy…Eleanor warned me it was going to get darker in the Crossroads Trilogy and boy she was not lying😈

I absolutely devoured this book in under 24 hours! The intensity and suspense in this storyline quite figuratively had me on the edge of my seat, and I just had to keep finding out what happens next, there was no waiting around! The story and some characters broke me and then put me back together, I shed tears and also smiles. An absolute 5 ⭐️ for me!

We have our FMC Tasmin who has been adopted into a family that have conditioned her entire life in letting her believe what they think is correct in society. It’s their way and their rules, no other options and she must obey and live up to the family name. She’s obedient, fragile and does what she’s told because she knows no different until she does..
As Tam is coming of age she starts to experience things that start to make her question the whole existence she’s been led to believe is rightful. Her feelings and emotions start to change, and this is where the story grows into the relationship she has with her two adopted brothers👀

One of our MMCs Matteo is the son of the man who has adopted Tam and he uses his charm to show a way of protecting her, but his charms can easily and quickly be turned into cruelness and manipulation. He wants to win at everything, he’s the golden boy and this is no exception when it comes to Tam. He wants to win her and claim her. Is he full of darkness and puts on a good front to try and win her and his society over or deep down does he have genuine feelings and has Tams best interest at heart?

Our other MMC Reid is mute and as the story goes on we learn why as to whether it’s out of choice or was he forced to be silent..He is very possessive of Tam and won’t let anyone near or hurt her if he has any control over it. The connection is deep and we learn in the story as to why.
He’s ruthless and resilient and his need to protect Tam is fiercely strong, and he will go through anything to ensure she is safe. But is it strong enough to protect Tam from the so called family they have been forced to grow up with and what is expected of her? It’s him against them all, but will his fight and love for Tam be enough to save them both..

Eleanor has smashed this out of the park again, I’ve come to the realisation that there is nothing she can write that I won’t love and I feel so privileged that Eleanor trusts me every time to be apart of her ARC team🫶🏼

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the power she has in creating these characters that make them not leave your mind is crazy! She has created some of my top tier book boyfriends, and I can honestly say they leave that imprint on your mind, and it’s all down to how amazing and creative Eleanor is with her creations and stories✨

Reid literally broke me and put the pieces back together, and he has a special place with me that I won’t forget…this is how amazing Eleanor is and how she makes you feel with her writing! It gives me hope that real love does exist in this world🖤

Thank you again for such an incredible story and amazing characters! Everyone is in for a treat with this one😍

my bestie has done it again. smashed this one out of the park over and over again 🔥 i lit never have one bad thing to say about her books 🖤

The FMC Tasmin who has been adopted into a family that have ruled her entire life in letting her believe their ways are the only ways and their rules are the only rules. She follows her families rules and does what she’s told because she knows no different. Little does she know, what her parents are setting her up for. She thought she was going into a normal life but this is anything from normal and she soon starts to realise this.

As Tasmin gets older, she attends parties and ceremonies she never could before. This opens her eyes to a whole different part of this life she is about to live. Secrets, betrayal, lies. She has no idea what is about to happen but she also doesn't know who to trust. Who goes above and beyond to protect her and who are the people she can't trust?

The first MMC we really meet is Matteo. He is the son of the man who has adopted Tam and he uses his charm to show a way of protecting her. Matteo is the only birth son and will follow on in his fathers ways. She believes he is showing her loyalty, protecting her and making sure her life is the best it can be. As she starts attending different things, she starts questioning everything and everyone.

The next MMC, REID 🔥 I fear that i cannot say to much about Reid. He's mute, he's mysterious and little does Tam know the lengths he has gone to protect her. Tam grows up thinking Reid hates her. She thinks everything he does, he does it because he hates her. Is this really the truth? Reid will do anything to anyone that goes for Tam, but at what cost?

YET AGAIN, this book blew. me. away!!!!
I was hooked from page one and it had my jaw on the floor. The plot was plotting and the spice was SPICYINGGGG. 🔥
Her writting is perfect. The plots always keep me guessing. The book had me second guessing everything and everyone. I had NO idea what to expect.

I am in total awe with all of your books, but this one was an emotional rollercoaster. Just when i thought it was ok, you hit me right where it hurts 😂

I received an arc from the author and this is my honest review.

I want to start this informing that I haven't read book one as of yet.

Trigger warnings further down (skip if you don't want possible spoilers)

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wow.. just... wow...

The story was storying and the spice was spicing. 😘🤌

This was definitely a wild ride. I didn't have much for expectations going into this, all I knew was it was 2 brothers, 1 sister, and that it would be dark. Well, it's a love triangle, with 2 of them getting a HFN/HEA, and it was SUCH a good book, I ate it up and left no crumbs. 😍

I can usually figure out plot twist and what's gonna happen next, but every time I thought I knew what was gonna happen, the author took a sharp turn and did something else. It was FAN-FKN-TASTIC!! 🧎

We follow Tamsin as she enters adulthood in a cult community. As one of the "first son's" daughter, she has an important role in the community and in her family. We follow her as she finds out the darker sides of her community, and as she tries to navigate through it.

There's betrayal, hurt, comfort, so much feelings and emotions. I cried a few times, screamed at my wall, and talked to my cat like he had the answers.

I haven't found a trigger i can't read yet, however I did need to take a break a couple of times throughout this book, so PLEASE read your triggers!

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trigger warnings:
Religious extremism and cult-like indoctrination
Institutional abuse and misuse of power
Sexual exploitation and sexual assault (off-page and implied)
Coercion, grooming, and loss of bodily autonomy
Incest themes (adopted siblings)
Emotional, physical, and psychological abuse
Domestic violence
Misogyny and enforced gender roles
Trauma bonding and obsessive relationships
Self-harm ideation
Suicidal thoughts
Graphic violence
Murder and death
Fire and destruction of property
Grief and burial imagery
Manipulation, gaslighting, and isolation

It's been a week now since I finished this book and I still can't really put my thoughts into words, it was THAT good!

We meet Matteo, Reid and Tamsin who are adopted siblings to parents that are members of the Reformed Church of the Guiding Saints, a very misogynistic society where women are forced to obey their husbands and basically have no voice.
Matteo is first in line to take over his dad's roll within the church and is very competitive when it comes to who gets the girl, in this case the girl being his little baby sister Tamsin who just turned 18.
Reid has had his eyes on his adopted sister too from the moment he came into the family, first out of protection but now he wants them to be more. Him not being able to speak makes it hard to communicate, the only communicating he knows is though violence which gets him in trouble more than once and scares Tamsin away right into the arms of Matteo, who is a devil in disguise.

When things take a very dark turn Tamsin finally starts to see who Reid really is and what this church does to women and the men that disobey.

"What the hell is he talking about? This isn’t purity. This isn’t devotion. This is something twisted dressed up in holy words. I’m not a lamb they can drag to slaughter and pretend it’s some sacred offering. I’m not theirs to give away."

Will they have a future together and ever be safe or will the church make an end to their bond once and for all?

"I love you, Reid. You’re not allowed to leave me.” She loves me… I can’t let myself think too deeply about that. Love means different things to different people. To me it’s consuming, all- or- nothing. To her it might be something softer, something safer.

This book had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. It is dark, unexpected, heartbreaking yet healing and sexy at the same time.
I think Reid is one of my all-time favorite MMC's, not just because I have a thing for a mute man but just for how he tries to protect Tamsin sacrificing himself while doing so. He deserves the world!

Received an ARC ebook from the author

Ok so the one thing I love about Eleanor’s writing is her ability to delve into a taboo topic which you know irl it’s a no go but when written into a heart wrenching traumatic fuelled story you don’t care.

Tamsin and Reid have been adopted and raised in a family which to the outside world is perfect and respectable, this is so far from the truth it’s scary.

Tamsin’s naivety to what is going on right in front of her should be annoying but knowing that Reid has made numerous sacrifices to protect her, it makes sense. But she is by no means stupid or weak, because once that realisation hits she hits back and it’s a beautiful thing to see.

Reid is the product of abuse in its worse form which will break your heart 💔 his love and protection of Tamsin has no boundaries and do you know what I’m ok with that because if anyone deserves a happy ending it’s these two.

It’s dark with a dystopian feel as they are raised in a religious society that has distorted views of a perfect society. Mute MMC, trauma bonding and obsession. And it’s not just one brother but two. One brother is devoted to the church’s power the other is silent, broken and the link to her survival.

This is a brutal example of how damaging distorted beliefs can affect the innocent, with a love story that was never meant to exist.

She's done it again! Mrs C has done it again!! After coming away from Daddy's Girl absolutely swooning and in love, I didn't think I'd fall so soon again.

But I did. I fell. HARD! How has Mrs C done it to me again!?

This book ticked boxes I never knew I needed. And now I'm on a book haul of cult/adopted brother/sister/sheltered FMC/Mute MMC saviour — I WANT THEM ALL.

This was PERFECTLY written! Never a dull or dragged out moment, pacing was spot on. Spice was SPICING! And I have never been happier for an FMC to admit that a male ejaculation tastes like garbage pahahaha... we all love a bit of realism.

The characters were so well developed, as well as the twists and turns, even the yearning. You also go from liking an mc, to HATING that mc, to understanding that mc. Incredibly done.

And Reids love for Tamsin was so die hard and I ATE IT UP.

Though, I fear, the author has now created a demon in me. So I off I go to binge stock these types of stories, tropes and vibes. And maybe beg, like on my knees, kiss her feet beg for more words, more chapters, more bonus material because like I said... I've fallen hard for Tamsin and Reid.

Well done, Mrs C. Cracking story. Perfection. And thank you so much for allowing me to read this ARC version of Beneath the Faultline because I'm an impatience pervy tart!

A good 4 stars rating. Man, i just dived into this only to binge read this. I thought this would be awful and cringe, but nooo quite opposite. I was dying for an easy-going, corrupted religious dark romance book, and this was it. I quite enjoyed Tamsin and Reids' journey and their relationship.

✝️🤫✝️🤫✝️🤫✝️🤫✝️🤫✝️🤫✝️😐✝️🤫✝️

The story follows a young girl named Tamsin. She has religious, strict parents and brothers who are unrelated to one other. One is a rebel, and one is the golden child. Reid is mute. He's also a rebel child. Who got tats and piercings meanwhile the older brother Matteo aka Mattie comes off like a teacher's pet. A follower. Then there's the youngest Tamsin. The innocent sheltered girl.

Matteo and Reid had bad blood between them he reason why was betrayal. Matteo outed Reid for knowing too much. That caused Reid to get his vocal cords removed, including a tattoo of silence on him as a reminder. It was sad when all he just wanted to get Tam out of that household just to protect her. The relationship between the unrelated siblings was complicated. It was a filled mix of possessiveness, control, jealousy, misunderstandings, deception, comforting, betrayal, emotional, etc

There were talks of the party that only people who had their coming of age were allowed to go to, but Tam decided to go with her brothers there and learned the dark truth of what actually goes on in there. For some girls or women, it was bear trap, and males were the beasts to take by force. While some enjoyed or were even willing.

The parents are part of a community who uses Christianity as a disguise. Dragging the name of God to commit heinous crime and no one questioned them. In reality, what it truly was a sick man who were predators wanting to have control over young girls and women for their sick pleasures. There were 7 sons that led this. community, and Tams father was one of them. What was actually horrifying is the coming of age ceremony, but it wasn't a typical ceremony but an excuse to tie down, violating them by checking if they were truly a virgin and raped the young girls who had just turned eighteen. Tamsin had gone through this ceremony, and Matteo was the one who held it, and the other men stood by as being so-called witnesses of her entering womanhood.

The two broken souls (Tamsin and Reid) craved freedom and normalcy in their life that made them run away and shared intimacy. That didn't last long with their father dragging them back being his usual short tempered, abusive, image obsessed self threatening them if they weren't obedient. Tamsin was forced to marry Matteo, but Reid and Tam eventually escaped. They ended up killing the 7 sons, their mother, and burned the house down and got their revenge and well as a HEA so satisfying.

If I thought book one in the trilogy was good this one was amazing,
Where to start, the book had me guessing as every page as to what was happening, the twists and turns was so much more than I was expecting,
Taboo, hot scenes, broken hearts, hea, sign me up for a good time.
I’ve always said Eleanor was an amazing writer from Brook one and she just continues to amaze us with more and more books even darker than the books before
I read this book in 7hrs which is about average for me but I was frothing at the mouth from page one in the book,
But at the end of the book I’m so happy that they got the ending they deserved I mean I felt a bit bad for the mum but the dad and the six first born yes get in their they Definitely got what they deserved

Got this book from the author on her arc

ARC Review

I have had the privilege of ARC reading book 1 and now 2 in this trilogy and this girl can write taboo!!!
This is a dark taboo romance about Tamsin, Reid and Matteo. Tamsin and Reid were each adopted into Matteo’s family. They all grew up together in a very strict and religious family. They were raised to believe that the way of their church was the right and only way of life. You have one brother who is completely devoted to the church and the other who is broken, silent and looking for his way out. Tamsin is a very strong but innocent young lady who doesn’t start seeing what’s really going on in their world until after turning 18 and learning what happens in her church to the woman at this age. This story is full of heartbreak, trauma, sacrifices, grief, survival and cult tendencies. You won’t be able to put it down but I highly recommend checking the trigger warnings!

ARC 💕💕💕

If I thought book one completely blew my mind I was wrong!

I was so looking forward to book 2, I felt like a stalker....watching every move and update that Eleanor did lol.

I read this one within a few hours, my brain was buzzing with anticipation and my nerves literally were frayed. You always know when you're experiencing emotions like this, that the story is a huge hit.

The characters each have their own stories at how they ended up being in such a fcuked up family (read trigger warnings).

My heart was ripped out and stamped on at the many many situations in the story, honestly I wanted to 💀 the Father then do it all over again....yip, that's how deep I got into this book.

Unreal story writing, like...how do you do this??? I'm full of admiration😍😍😍♥️♥️🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🔥🥵🥵🥵🥵

Another book that Eleanor has smashed out the park. I absolutely loved this one!

We meet Tamsin & her adopted brother Reid and their sibling Mateo. As part of a cult community, 18 year old Tamsin is expected to take part in the 'entering adulthood' rituals. They're barbaric, abusive and Reid wants to protect Tamsin with everything he has.

With the odds stacked against them and Reid being pulled away from Tamsin and subjected to his own punishments, Tamsin has to learn to fight back against institutionalised power & misogyny, whilst nabigatthe dark side of her community.

Reid & Tamsin together were perfect. The spice was spicing and the banging on top of the coffin was diabolical in the best way ever! 🤣🤣

I'm not sure what I was expecting going into this beyond a step siblings darker romance, but Eleanor delivered!
There's heavy plot, spice, trauma, familial ties that bind too tightly, a church that's not on the path of others.
The absolute trauma that comes to these characters is heinous and I was so so relieved to see Tam and Reid make it out. At least, I hope they truly made it out... This is a trilogy...
I have to go back and read book 1, then read book 3 when it comes out!
I won't lie or hide, the social media post involving the open grave is what pulled me in and that scene DID NOT disappoint! None of this book did. I'm sure this will live in my head for a long time to come!

This was a fantastic, brilliant read. Tam & Reid are my idea of perfection. Adopted and raised in a culture, who silence the truth and use lies to get what they want. The adopted brother and sister are the only ones who protect what they love and fight for their freedom. I can not describe just how much I loved this book. The plot had twists and turns and trauma on every page. It was an intense, dangerous, and beautiful all at once . Eleanor knows how to keep us on our toes with just the right amount of taboo action. This was a masterpiece of every trigger warning, all wrapped up in a bloody bow 😍🖤📚

Taboo, cult, mute mmc with piercings and tattoos, plus theyre adopted siblings! I literally could not have asked for more!

Okay so first, are you kidding me with Reid Petrovic?! Jesus this guy has it ALL! I am obsessed!

I am in love with everything about this book and if 10 stars was possible this would be it!

The cult themes are perfect, the characters ohh theyre so flawed, Tamsin (bless her the naivety was unbelievable) done a total 180 and reading her rise from survival to badass was fantastic! Eleanor you have outdone yourself with this one, it is phenomenal!

Omg such a good book. If you grew up in a very religious household this book may be triggering. This book is dark and can be triggering for some. Tamsin our main character is realizing the community and religion she was believed to be good isn’t wasn’t it really is. Her family has many secrets that she is learning so fast with no time to comprehend all of what is going on. Her brother Reid is an amazing man and has been trying to protect her but can’t always protect her from their family. This book is so good. I loved the ending absolutely epic.

Eleanor did it again!!! The queen of taboo!!

I honestly couldn’t love this book enough!
The storyline
The characters!
I never go into detail when I write reviews just for the fact I do not trust myself not to give too much away!!
Reid is something else!
Instantly fell in love with the MMC. Who doesn’t love a taboo romance?!
If I have any advice it is that you NEED to read this book.

I love Eleanor Crowe's writing style! And this one sucked me in from the get-go!

I'm all about the dystopian, culty vibes in a book, and this one definitely gives!
I felt ALL the emotions while reading and was very happy with how it all concluded!

10/10 recommend 💯🤌🔥

The characters, the spice, the story, the taboo vibes, it was all there for me!

You need to stop what you’re doing and add this book to your TBR!! Because wow I was obsessed. I honestly cant put into words how good this book was and I felt the same about book 1 (Daddy’s Girl)
The book is written beautifully drawing you into this world and having me on the edge of my seat as you are invested in the characters.
The book has dark themes but how this amazing author wrote it and navigates the scenes is amazing. You definitely feel for the FMC Tamsin and you go on this journey with her. Love Reid he is one of the MMCs and how protective he is of Tamsin is something that I love in a character.
A visit from the characters from book 1 got me excited! And I cant wait for book 3.

You need to add Book 1 to your TBR and read this amazing book!

Another Saucy Read

Not my normal genre, but from reading the first book in the trilogy via a book club I thought I’d complete them. If you enjoy a bit of taboo with saucy outcomes then this book is for you! They’d make good holiday reads, on the beach with the girls…. :)
