Captain Jon Pike's actions and decisions cost him his ship and the lives of many of his crew. The survivors are scattered around the galaxy in escape pods. The one he occupied, with Breeah and Anki, is found by a freighter captain, but once again Pike takes a series of actions that serve to make things worse. He ends up on the run having been falsely accused of murder and Breeah plus the freighter captain and his family have been named as accomplices. A ship of Chaanisar soldiers who mutinied against their Juttari masters has rescued some of Pike's crew from the Hermes and now comes to try to rescue him and his group. And in the background, unknown to any of them, the Kemmaar he attacked in the battle that cost him the Hermes alerted their authorities and are now on a mission to annexe the Otan's region of space, the peaceful region that separates Kemmarian space and that occupied by the humans of the lost tribes that Pike had originally been sent to find.
Wonderful Second Act: EXPLORATION/ ALIEN/SPACE OPERA EPIC
G. P. Hudson's second story is as good as the first, smoothly following the wild twists and turns of Captain Pike's adventures as he explores/battles the galaxy's star systems. But Captain Pike's toughest battle is adapting to changing circumstances...and they do change dramatically.
WONDERFUL SECOND VOLUME OF THE PIKE CHRONICLES: EXPLORATION/ALIEN ENCOUNTER/MILITARY SPACE OPERA SERIES!!
I tried to read the first volume and wasn't able to finish it. I have this one a shot as a free download but kept expecting the same bad writing and lack of direction as the first.
This started out much better but I couldn't get past the first volume and put this aside rather than get my hopes up.
Would have been 5 stars if the jump system needed to recharge after a few jumps, like it did in Sol Shall Rise. Made for an easy out in battles using infinite jumps which didn't exist with the more reasonable limitation in place.
Action packed adventure full of intrigue and plot twists will keep you glued to the pages. The characters awesome and well developed. I really like this book and I highly recommend it.
It's a fun enough read. I probably should have reviewed this one soon after I reading rather than a couple of weeks after finishing but sadly, it was not memorable enough for me to say more.
"Prevail," Book 2 of "The Pike Chronicles," continues the SciFi of a super Marine, battling aliens away from Earth, while attempting to locate Earth's lost colonies. What also continues, is poor writing, lacking in basic skill or talent. There is truly inept (perhaps absent?) editing, evidenced throughout the book.
The storyline has potential merit here in Book 2, as did Book 1. Since the eBook author cannot take the time to put forth an adequate product, I won't waste anyone's time trying to explain more of the storyline.
I cannot recommend this book-it's a sophomoric, sloppy and immature effort.
This is as good as Sol and kept me intrigued all the way through and again I was disappointed when I turned the page and it was over. Bummer! Well , next is Ronin yahoo!. A truly gifted writer!
