I received an ebook arc from the author in exchange for an honest review. This is no hate to the author. But I could not get into this book. I tried and tried. But I just found it not to be for me unfortunately. I think the whole series is such a cool idea! Maybe I’ll like one of the other books better!

Pick up a J.P. Sterling book and you’re in luck. Because there’s humour and heart ,they all play their part with fun and laughter leading you into an happy ever after…

It’s the 250th Anniversary of the USA 🇺🇸 We’re in Washington DC to celebrate history ,and this the first in a fantastic series will make your day. How you say? I will tell you it’s Hockey 🏒 so I’m all beams. There’s a tournament running across the thirteen books with the Stars and the Stripes teams .

Did you also know that there’s a colouring book to go with the books? A feature of all the stories and more to enjoy. I have mine and oh boy what a super idea. My choice is colouring pencils but the choice is yours it’s a blank page at the back so it doesn’t matter if it shows through . Think of everything, they do…

Anyway sorry about that segue but it’s really great ,as is this superb story that kicks us all off and at a fast rate. It’s about two best friends who want to be more. There ain’t no finer story than that of amour. There’s the two hockey teams the running theme and there’s a prankster or pranksters about and both hockey dressing rooms are affected. Accusations are running high but who is it and why?

Anyway the reason this guy is hot under the collar is a lady fair. Tyson/Ty and Lottie both extremely shy thought they had all the time in the world but when ya ma is US Senator Halloway you go where she says and for Lottie that’s back to their home in DC and leaving poor Ty behind see.

Fast forward five years and he’s called up to play in the celebratory tournament…..It’s in DC and so is Lottie. Is this his chance of romance ? She’s all about her goats of which she has three, she treats like family . Cinnamon ,Toast and Crunch are her babies albeit mischievous ones . When she’s not rounding them up she’s fetching and carrying for her mom ,this sometimes makes her glum.

Not really what she plans long term but her mother is more than adamant she’s firm. Her daughter isn’t going to end up with a dead beat ,she wants her to marry within her status . Someone like Brett? Lottie would rather go on hiatus ,forget him! Her brother Ham who is also best friends with Tyson , works security at Hart Senate too but he’s suited to it more.

The more Ty spends with Lottie ,he knows he can’t stop. He’s all or nothing this guy,win or lose . And we’re not talking about Stars unless it’s those in the sky with the moonlight he longs to see every day reflected in his sweethearts eyes. His idea of paradise.

So a tournament to win and the heart of his dream lady . Will he win the senator over ,moreover her daughter. His mate didn’t oughta support but even he must see that his mate and his sister are meant to be…we will see.
J.P.Sterling I love this sweet and swoon book of yours and those extra characters are so funny and add a few twists . Love’s sweet kiss. This book was bliss

Such a fun first book to this Stars, Stripes, and Hockey Nights series! Plus it's hockey! Hahaha! I seriously am loving all of these hockey books. Not just about the hockey, but that many of my favorite authors are writing books in this genre, and I love their books, so of course I'm going to pick up their hockey books as well, and be hooked in the book because they're just great writers! I loved the premise of this one. A little Persuasion-esque! The waiting and longing to tell someone how you feel but being stumped at almost every turn. Poor Lottie and Tyson!

I loved the different settings in this book and how the author brought it full circle with the settings! So sweet!

I've read several of the other books in this series already! I'm hooked! I had early copies of them and finished this one and had to jump right into the next one, and the next one, and the next one! *Shrugs* Seriously such a fun series! Be careful, because you might be hooked like me!

The pranks between the characters are pretty funny. But poor Tyson gets the brunt end of several of them. And the pranks carry on throughout the series. It's a mystery as to who is the culprit! It'll be fun to see if I can figure it out by the end of the series!

If you love the sibling's best friend trope, you're going to really enjoy this one. Especially with that confession that happens with an accidental phone call. Hahaha! *Grins*

I loved Tyson's character and his love of Lottie! Lottie's character was sweet but I did get frustrated with her mom trying to run her life! But so glad Tyson is there to back her up! Cause her mom sure puts Lottie in a pickle with some of her scheming! Tyson will just make you swoon for how he sticks up for Lottie! *Happy Sigh*

Content: Clean. Some kisses but nothing further.

I received a copy from the author via Booksprout. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

Happy Reading!!!

Laugh Out Loud Funny

It was laugh out loud funny, incredibly swoony, and packed with all the childhood friends-to-more goodness I could ever want.

I am officially obsessed with J.P. Sterling’s writing. This was my first book by this author, but it definitely won’t be my last. In fact, I’m already planning to binge-read her backlist and work my way through this entire series. If this book is any indication of what’s to come, I am in for a treat.

The chemistry between the characters was fantastic, and the banter had me grinning from ear to ear. The romance felt natural, heartfelt, and completely satisfying. I highlighted so many passages while reading that my Kindle looks like a rainbow exploded across the pages. And I have to give a quick shoutout to the goats because they added a few extra laughs along the way.

One of my favorite quotes was:

“What I wouldn’t do for a flat tire. I’m not to the point of slashing them myself, but if I see a nail on this road, I’m swerving. Even better if it’s a roofing nail. I don’t need to mess around with a slow leak.”

That quote perfectly captures the humor and charm woven throughout the story.

This was such a strong start to the Stars, Stripes, and Hockey Nights series. Between the humor, the heart, the friendship-to-lovers romance, and all the swoony moments, I was completely invested from beginning to end. I honestly didn’t want it to end.

If you enjoy closed-door romantic comedies, hockey romance, childhood friends-to-lovers stories, and plenty of laughs along the way, put this one on your TBR immediately. I loved every minute of it and cannot wait to continue this series.

Escapee goats, fake dating and hockey. The new multi-author hockey series, Stars, Stripes and Hockey Nights, kicks off strong with the offering from J.P. Sterling.

Lottie Halloway is the Senator’s daughter and works hard for her unappreciative mother. She lives and breathes her work as her mother’s executive assistant and doesn’t have time to date. Besides, nobody could really live up to her brother’s best friend, Tyson Lane, the one she almost had a chance with but blew it. Besides, he’s a hockey player, and her mother hates hockey players. Tyson has always crushed on Lottie for years, but the thought of his best friend punching his lights out stopped him from making a move. Now they are both in DC together, and it’s like fate has stepped in, if it wasn’t for escapee goats and fake dating (not with each other).

I thought this book had charm, humour and just the right amount of yearning. Tyson was a great hockey player; he was good at what he did, yet he was just never enough for the Senator’s daughter; he never understood why she hated hockey so much. I loved how he still supported Lottie, even helping her find a fake date, even though watching them spend time together hurt his whole being. I didn’t like how Lottie was treated by her mother and felt she should have stood up to her sooner, but I understand why she felt she couldn’t.

The shenanigans with the goats were funny; I loved those little rascals. I was just waiting for one of them to eat the Senator's blazer or something, but the incident at the parade was funny enough.

I can’t wait to see more of this series and hope it’s as good as this starter.

Tyson, Lottie, and the goats. I had the great time with this story. It was sweet and fun, and had so many good things packed inside. Tossing never should’ve set up Lottie with a fake date, because now he’s regretting it. Friends to lovers, meddling moms, and the goats!! They were the true highlight. I am so glad I was chosen to be a part of this team for the entire series. I can’t wait to read the next ones.

I struggled for a bit with the first half of this story. It was difficult to see both Tyson and Lottie be so scared to admit their feelings. And it was so frustrating to see Lottie's toxic mother use Lottie for her own political gain.

However, I am glad I continued reading, because I did enjoy some key moments as Ty and Lottie moved from friends to more. It was so fun to see them realize that they had both liked each other for so long. And it felt so good to see Lottie finally stand up for herself and openly choose a relationship with Ty. I enjoyed the way the author brought everything together and created a sweet happily ever after for these two.

⭐️⭐️⭐️️⭐️/ ️🌶️

I have been excited for this collaboration series for a while. When Stars, Stripes, and Hockey Nights was first announced, I knew by the authors involved, it was going to be fun to read. Tying in America’s 250th birthday with hockey, JP Sterling kicks the series off with Oh Say Can You See. Each book title in this series, once all released, will recreate the Star Spangled Banner lyrics. JP brings her signature style to this story featuring two MCs who mutually pine for each other, but one lets the family's opinion pull her away. Now they are in the same city and not letting each other go again.

Tyson has loved Lottie since he was young. Being his best friend’s sister didn’t keep him from having these feelings, but it did keep him from making them known. They were young, they had time. Turns out they didn’t as Lottie ends up moving away and their time together is cut short. Five years later, Tyson has made a name for himself within the NHL and is invited to play in an exhibition game in DC. He knows he will be near Lottie again, but this time he won’t let his feelings remain unsaid. Tyson is such a sweet, kind, and shy MMC. He was a lot of fun to get to know and I melted at how crazy he is about Lottie.

Lottie’s life has always been under a microscope. As a Senator’s daughter, it’s par for the course, but it has always kept her from doing anything that might not be seen as good for the whole family. Case in point, letting Tyson know how she’s felt about him for years. Now they are both in DC, celebrating the Nation’s birthday. When her mother is caught on tape bad mouthing hockey, Lottie is forced into a fake dating situation with Tyson to help the PR nightmare her mother has created. Lottie truly does find herself in this book. Learning to speak up for what she wants and that appearances don’t always matter. She is also on the shy side, so seeing her speak up for herself is everything!

A great start to this series for sure! You also get other characters from other books from JP, which is something I always love to see in books. As we head into summer and the USA truly turning 250, this book provides a positive and romantic escape.

As always, review any author notes before reading.

Welcome to the Stars, Stripes, and Hockey Nights series! I’m glad you’re here. Now let’s get started!

Lottie and Tyson have known each other since they were kids. And for the greater part of their relationship (from teen years on), they’ve been in love with each other. But neither of them ever confessed said love. They thought they had time, and with both of them being on the shy side, things were moving slowly. Until Lottie’s mother, a US Senator, decided they needed to move back to their main house near DC, so the commute was shorter.

Five years go by, and now Ty has been tapped for an exhibition hockey tournament for the 250th celebration of the founding of the US. He also knows that Lottie is in DC. This is his chance to finally confess his feelings.

It’s sometimes painful, watching these two together, knowing they belong with each other, but each being too afraid to say it. I get it. They’re relatively young (in their twenties), and they don’t know yet how fast time can pass. (Hint: it speeds up as you get older.)

Lottie and Ty do reconnect, but Lottie’s mother isn’t happy about it. She has her thumb on Lottie, making her work as her executive assistant, even though Lottie wants nothing to do with politics. And when her mother is caught on mic disparaging hockey players, stuff hits the fans, prompting Mom to force Lottie into a fake relationship to increase positive press.

I know a little about a mom who doesn’t approve of the man her daughter chose. My mom even had all of her friends, one at a time, corner me and express their concern about my fiancé. But as this isn’t the 1700s, she didn’t have a say in who I married, and I’ve been happily wed to my husband for almost twenty-nine years. So, Moms, maybe let your adult children make their own decisions, even if you think they’re making mistakes. As it turns out, mistakes are one of our greatest teachers.

There’s some good hockey action in the book, and players from other series and authors make appearances, which is expected. It’s no secret that I love hockey romances, and getting — *counts titles* — THIRTEEN books over the course of the summer…well, that’s just the dream. It’s also cute that it’s thirteen books, because of the original thirteen colonies. I’m choosing to believe that was intentional.

Come for the hockey. Stay for the romance. And get the book!

Since I read the first book by J.P. Sterling, I have been a great fan, of her writing style and humour she weaves into these stories. So, when I learned she was once again part of a multi-author interconnected hockey romances series, called Stars, Stripes & Hockey Nights, to celebrate the 250th birthday of the USA, I just had to read that book.

Now that I have read said book: Oh, Say Can You See, I cannot wait to read her next book. O, Say Can You See, is the story of hockey star Tyson Lane, who from a very young age has had (and still has) a crush on his best friend’s sister, Lottie. Lottie feels the same way, but she has always been too shy to say or do anything about it. That is changing when her politician mother makes up a scheme to promote her own career. Not to say that her mother forbids Lottie dating any hockey player.

This was such a lovely sweet and cute book from the very start. Both Tyson and Lottie are amazing characters and come across so very good and sweet. Of course, true love will always find a way and it so great to read about their blossoming romance. The dual POV is a great asset in this book. It was great to read how Tyson made Lottie feel and that thanks to him she became more her own person, instead of someone who wanted to please everyone around her. And oh, the goats are awesome. You have to read this book to know what I mean, but there are many hilarious situations.

The writing style is flowing and I had a really hard time putting the book down. There is also some drama and betrayal of a sort, along with humour and of course, a hockey tournament. As someone who does not watch hockey games (maybe I should) it was great to read about those. You could feel the excitement and the sometimes-rough play of all hockey players.

Oh, Say Can You See is a great heartwarming, cute, sweet and lovely hockey romance, with a flowing writing style, with banter, humour and romance, and with two fantastic main characters you keep rooting for. I loved this book a lot and I cannot wait to read the other books in this great series, but I also cannot wait to read the next J.P. Sterling novel.

Highly recommended!

This is a wonderful start to a multi-author series of 13 books celebrating our 250th anniversary in the United States. Ty and Lottie have both been crushing on each other from afar for many years. Lottie is Ty's best friend's little sister, so Ty has restrained himself. Lottie is the little sister, so she swooned from afar as well. I knew I was going to love this couple as soon as they were introduced, and it just kept getting better.

Apparently hockey is not a valid sport according to Senator Trudy Halloway, who just so happens to be Lottie's mom. It just so happens that Ty is a pro hockey player. Thus, he would never measure up to her standards for her daughter. I really did not like this lady. I wanted to smack her. She had used and abused (not physically) her daughter for so many years that Lottie was scared to do anything on her own. Here comes to Ty to the rescue. Be still my heart.

All of that aside, there definitely was drama, but the humor outweighed everything. Three goats named Cinnamon, Toast, and Crunch steal the spotlight in so many scenes. There was a scene involving a parade float and the snobby Senator that was so funny that I laughed like some sort of maniac. Those goats provided plenty of entertainment. Eating horse treats and split pants also provided plenty of laughs, as well as the hockey pranks.

Ty and Lottie were so sweet together. They belonged together. When he came to her rescue later in the book with his sweet words, I almost fainted with joy.

For hockey romance lovers, this book has plenty of hockey action and lots of spirit, but my favorite part was the achingly beautiful romance that needed to blossom and be given a chance to grow. Both Ty and Lottie captured my heart from the beginning pages and never let go. I was almost sad to see the book end.

Thank you to Booksprout and the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This is part of the Stars, Stripes, and Hockey Nights multi author series. While each book focuses on the celebration of the 250th birthday of the United States, each book can be read as a standalone.

This is a sweet hockey romance story and focuses on Tyson and Lottie. They are childhood friends, and Tyson is best friends with Ham, Lottie's brother. Tyson and Lottie have had feelings for each other for years, but it never seemed like the right time and they didn't make it obvious to each other that they wanted more than friendship. When Senator Halloway made a negative comment about Hockey players that was caught by the microphone, she tells Lottie that she needs to start dating someone for good PR.

Oh course, Tyson offers to help her find someone to fake date, but he gets jealous because he's wanted to date her for years. But of course, they start to spend more time together and conversations start to be had.

While this is a hockey romcom, I feel the story focuses more on the journey of Tyson and Lottie. I loved how sweet Tyson is and is super protective of Lottie. Lottie just wants her mother to accept and see her, but her mother is super demanding and focuses on her career. I liked how Lottie started to stand up for herself and was able to start to change the relationship she had with her mother.

And of course, there are cereal named goats that at times steal the show!

This is a fun series to celebrates America's 250 years and I look forward to reading the rest of the books!

I received an advance copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The start to the series, this was a charming story about childhood friends who grow up together. Their worlds are as different as can be, yet they still rely on one another. Lottie's mom is the stereotypical politician - tunnel visioned, self-focused, and unkind. The senator has Lottie working for her and makes all of Lottie's decisions for her. This was the real story to me - not the romance part of it, though that was good. Lottie's maturity and growth as she learns to think for herself and stand on her own two feet is the real nitty-gritty here.

Tyson is a hockey play who has finally made it to the NHL. He grew up spending summers with his best friend, Lottie's brother. Hence, he also spent a lot of time with Lottie, and their friendship grew stronger each summer. When Lottie's family moves to DC, they lose a lot of their contact. But then Ty is called to play on the national hockey team for America's 250th anniversary. That tournament will take place in DC and suddenly, they are able to spend time together again, rebuilding their friendship.

While the story is a hockey romance that is sweet and clean, it has a theme of strength and resiliency and standing on your own principles, understanding who you are and what your purpose is, where your goals lie. I really like that part of the story.

Of course, there is some humor, mostly provided by Cinnamon, Toast, and Crunch - Lottie's three mischievous goats. Look for the comic relief they provide. It is a joy.

Definitely a story worth reading. I am looking forward to the other stories is the Stars, Strips, and Hockey Nights series.

J.P. Sterling will always be an instant read author for me! Her books will ALWAYS make you smile and warm your heart! This book had me laughing so hard in just the first chapter! Ty and Lottie are lovable characters that will steal your heart. You will laugh, swoon, smile throughout the book, have your heart melt, fall in love with 3 crazy goats (just wait until you hear their names LOL), and you will be left with a wonderful happily ever after ending!

Ty is best friends with Hamilton (aka Ham) and they have always spent summers together with Ham's sister Lottie. Ty has only had eyes for Lottie but he knows her mother who is the Senator won't allow her to date a Hockey player.

Ty and Lottie will keep you entertained throughout this book. I love their friendship and how it blossoms into more. They have such great chemistry. Plus the goats are an extra bonus with their story as well. You will also love Ham. He is such a great brother and best friend. That man had my heart melting a few times.

This story does have a few moments that will make you a little irritated because Lottie's mom is a one way mom. But I love seeing Lottie become a stronger women because of it. Lottie was a terrific character and she will find herself in the end! If you want a book that will take you away from life and just make you forget about things then this is the perfect book! You can sit down with a cup of coffee or your preferred beverage, this book and enjoy this heartfelt hockey romance story!

Thank you J.P. Sterling for allowing me to read this ARC for my honest opinion.

Lottie and Ty have known each other their entire lives. They grew up in the same town, and he is her brother’s best friend. Ty has had a crush on her from afar, but has never made a move because her mother, a Senator, is very adamant about the type of man that Lottie will end up with - and Ty doesn’t fit that ideal, mainly because he is a hockey player.

The two lose touch, but are brought back into each other’s orbit when Ty is brought to DC for hockey, where Lottie’s family has moved to. Lottie is working for her mother’s campaign, while trying to be the perfect daughter in order to keep her mother happy. When her mom makes comments on a hot mic that drop her approval rating, she decides the perfect way to get the heat off her back is to have Lottie be in a relationship, with an acceptable young man, of course.

Lottie has been so focused on making sure everyone else is happy, and apologizing for being herself, that she isn’t sure what happiness actually looks like to her, but by the end of the book, I’m glad she decides to figure it out for herself.. Be prepared for a butt dial that changes the course of everything between these two, with the slight hiccup of Lottie fake dating the Brad Pitt of the Smithsonian. Throw in some mischievous goats and you are guaranteed to smile while reading this one.

Thank you to J.P. Sterling for my ARC of this fabulous book. This 5 star story was the series opener and based on this one it is going to be a great series. Oh my goodness! It has been sooo long since I laughed out loud as much as I did with this book. I had tears streaming down my cheeks I was laughing so much. My husband came to see what was so funny. He was positive I was watching something on tv that was making me giggle so much. I loved Lottie and Ty and their chemistry and antics kept me interested from beginning to end. The goats! What can I say about the goats? You have to read this book to find out. I am not going to spoil it. This was a fabulous story and it had everything a reader could want. Great writing, fantastic conversations, beautifully painted scenes with words, humor and love. Plus gorgeous hockey hunks and a wonderful sports and DC politics environment. I think J.P. is up there with my favorite authors, many of whom are writing for this series. I highly recommend those who are not familiar with this author to pick this book up and read it as it can be read as a standalone. If you are a fan of the author I am sure this one is already in your hands or will be very soon and I promise you will not be disappointed.

Two shy people find love in this great story about Ty, a hockey player who has always been in love with Lottie, and Lottie who has lost her identity to support her mother’s career as a Senator. They have a moment after he saves her from a bad date, but then they don’t see each other for another 5 years until he finds himself in DC playing for the Stars hockey team for the 250th anniversary of the US becoming a nation.

This is a story of Ty finally having the courage to act on his feelings (but only after a butt dial reveals them to Lottie) but then he is all in, and Lottie realizing that she has lost herself in everything that she has given up for her mother and her campaign. It culminates with a fake relationship that makes her see that her mother doesn’t value her sacrifices; the lies make her feel guilty, especially when Ty and her finally start to explore their feelings.

Her mother adds a lot of suspense to the story as you’re never sure just how far she will go to get her way and improve her image. Ty will make your swoon, and Lottie will make you root for her to standup to her mother. The goats will make you laugh. A fun read with lots of romance, hidden feelings, and humor.

I absolutely adored Tyson and Lottie. This story has so many hilarious and heartfelt moments.

I was so sad for Lottie as she navigated her relationship with her mom. She has lived her entire life to support her mom’s career, and it broke my heart to see her put off her own life to do that. Her lack of relationships was so relatable though. I loved seeing her work through it all and finding her voice.

Tyson has excellent character growth in this story. He starts out with a bit of imposter syndrome with the Stars team, but ultimately finds his place as captain. I loved seeing how he handled his interest in Lottie and navigated the tricky situation of being her brother’s best friend.

Tyson and Lottie together…all the heart eyes! Especially the first hand hold! They had their work cut out for them, from classic lack of communication issues and family drama, to team shenanigans and rascally goats, Cinnamon, Toast, and Crunch. The goat on the float was priceless!

“Ollways July” had me crying happy tears as these two found their way back to each other and into love.

This is the first of 13 books in the Stars, Stripes & Hockey Nights multi-author series about 2 all-star hockey teams playing a tournament in Washington DC to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the USA.

And can we talk about the goats?! 🐐😂 They completely stole the show and added so many laugh-out-loud moments. Between the charming romance, political backdrop, and lovable characters, this story was impossible not to enjoy.

🎧 I listened to the audiobook narrated by Kasey Miracle and Kyle Snyder, and they did a fantastic job bringing the story to life. It was an entertaining listen that I would absolutely revisit.

If you’re looking for a sweet, clean romance filled with humor, heart, and plenty of chemistry, I highly recommend adding this one to your TBR!

I received a digital ARC of this book. This is a stand alone in a sweet hockey romance series celebrating the 250th birthday of America. The teams and players overlap in the stories so they are connected that way. Tyson and Lottie have known each other since they were kids because Tyson is the best friend of Lottie’s brother. Tyson is now a professional hockey player and Lottie works for her mom who is a senator. Tyson has had a crush on Lottie forever, but with the bro code she’s been off limits. Then you add in that for some reason her mom hates hockey players, and it’s a double whammy. But when Tyson gets chosen for playing in the 250th birthday hockey tournament they are brought back into each other’s lives after years apart. If you like Hallmark movies, you will enjoy this book. I read most of it in one sitting. There’s hockey, cute goats who cause trouble, fake dating, childhood crushes, protective brother/bff, and of course we have to throw in an overbearing Mom/boss in there too. You’ll be routing for Lottie to stand up to her mom and take a chance with Tyson. Plus, he calls her Queen!

Oh Say Can You See is a sweet hockey romance set in the midst of the fictional exhibition tournament celebrating America’s 250th birthday. What a fantastic idea and why is this tournament not happening for real? Really!

Tyler Lane plays hockey in Minnesota. After a failed attempt at a first kiss with his best friend’s little sister many years ago, Tyler is taking advantage of returning home to the DC area for the hockey tournament. He’s not backing down on the ice or with Lottie.

Lottie works night and day as the personal assistant to a highly driven, high-powered, senator—her mother. Currently she is forced to divide her time, and her heart, between rekindling a connection with her childhood friend Tyler and managing the fallout from Senator Halloway’s accidental public discussion of her disdain for hockey and hockey players. She is feeling the tension of being caught between her mother’s expectations and the love of her life.

What to love:
Secret relationship
Goats gone wild
Fake dating the wrong person
“My Queen”
He stands up for her
A fun romp through our nation’s capitol

Oh Say Can You See is the first book published in the multi-author stand-alone series Stars, Stripes & Hockey Nights. Reading these books is a great way to gear up for the big birthday.

I received an advance copy of this book, but a review was not required.

Sweet hockey story
This story is part of a multi-author shared world, Stars, Stripes & Hockey Nights and this is the first book in the collection.
Lottie’s life is determined by her mother, a US senator and how her actions affect her mother’s career.
So being forbidden to date hockey players is one of her stipulations.
Pity her brother’s best friend Ty is one and she has always liked him.
Now that Ty is here in DC, being chosen as Captain to play in a hockey tournament, Lottie will get to see him again.
For Ty being close to the only woman that he cares about has him wanting to spend time with her.
Realising that his feelings have not changed only gotten stronger he eventually makes his move, however Lottie’s mother still seems to be against them reconnecting.
With lots of banter plus three unruly goats and an interfering mother this story is full of fun moments, some drama and emotional ones too.
Will Lottie do what is right for her and stand up for herself?
Or will she lose the man she has grown to care for?
A lovely sweet slow burn story with wonderful characters.
Thank you JP Sterling for the opportunity to read this story.

I had the honor to be an ARC reader for this book which I am so grateful for! I am so excited for a hockey romance series to get me in the mood for the 4th of July. Oh, Say Can You See had a really fun concept for the story. I loved how it wasn't your normal fake dating or forbidden love tropes. Ty is Lottie's brother's best friend, and they've known each other for years. Lottie has to find a fake date to help with her mom's PR. Ty takes over finding the perfect fake date for Lottie, so he doesn't have to confess his feelings or see her in love with someone else. It was easy to adore Lottie, but for some reason, I could not get behind Ty. Yes, I was rooting for them as a couple, but I didn't like Ty's chapters the way I liked Lottie's. I also loved Lottie's side plots as she dealt with her senator mother and crazy goats, but Ty's side plots weren't as interesting for me, even though I love hockey romances. I will say that I did love the way he stood up for her. Lastly, I wish we could have gotten to know the other guys on the teams a little more, since it is a part of a series. I am still really excited for this series and am kind of sad to be done with Lottie's story.

When this series was revealed, I knew it was going to be awesome. A multi-author series bringing together their dream hockey teams from each of their successful, sweet hockey romcoms to be showcased in an all-star exhibition in DC for America's 250th? I was in!

I loved that I recognized some of the players right away, but also that this story could stand on its own. Ty and Lottie's story is a brother's best friend romance with mutual pining, with a surprise dose of fake dating. I loved Lottie's uber-controlling senator mom as the villain-of-sorts. Sometimes the most sinister things are done by people who are supposed to love you well, and Ty comes in as the antithesis to that.

I had the pleasure of both reading the ebook and listening to the audiobook. Let me say that the duet narration was spectacular, and maybe one of my favorite performances by both narrators. The exasperation of Lottie, the perseverance of Ty and the senators condescension were all just perfectly done. I particularly loved the epilogue brought to life- SO adorable.

What a great start to the series!

I received a copy of the author's story to read and review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The first of thirteen books celebrating our nation's 250th anniversary with one of the most popular sports in 2026...Hockey!

The top players from teams throughout the United States are selected to play on two teams...the Stars or the Stripes. And unless you're new to hockey romance books, you probably know many of the players mentioned.

Starting with this terrific book by J.P. Sterling, the main characters are Tyson Lane and Lottie Halloway. Ty is chosen as Captain of the US Stars hockey team and Lottie is his best friend's sister and daughter of the US Senator Trudy Halloway. Unfortunately Senator Hallway was caught on mic after a news conference complaining about hockey. Then PR tries to control the damage from her statement, and things just got complicated!

It was a fun, but emotional story, that I devoured as quickly as possible. I loved the main characters, the goats (Cinnamon, Toast, Crunch), the phoney romance, the hockey pranks, and the satisfaction of the story. I laughed, sighed, swooned, and was sad when I reached the end. A perfect beginning to a fun series.

This is a charming and sweet romance of Lottie and Tyler. They have known each other for forever as Tyler is Lottie‘s brother’s best friend. They’ve always had an attraction for each other, but both are too shy to say anything. But then the kicker that put a stop to their relationship was when Lottie‘s mother declared her disgust for hockey and it’s players. Of course Ty has just been named Captain of the America’s 250th celebration Stars & Stripes hockey tournament of games. Lottie’s mother is a state senator and likes to flaunt her importance. She couldn’t possibly have a daughter involved with a hockey player.
This really is a darling story of friends to more. There’s a lot of fun, banter, awkward situations, and no support from her mother, which makes you root for their relationship even more. This is the beginning of a fun series focusing on America’s 250th anniversary and hockey. Can’t wait to read the rest. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

“Of course, the one guy I have feelings for is watching me fake date someone else while I wrangle a rebellious goat in front of the entire city. Can this get any more ridiculous?”

In a style reminiscent of the old slapstick comedy shows, this book takes the reader on a quirky and hilarious mash-up of hockey, goats, and politics…with a hefty dose of swoon. Boom! The start of the Star, Stripes, and Hockey Nights is fantastic.

Tyson is back in town for a hockey tournament and his best friend’s little sister, Lottie, is trying to choose between her senator mother’s high expectations and following her heart. Is there a love triangle of sorts? Yes, but it’s fake and totally works for the plot, revealing true feelings and heartfelt confessions.

I loved this reconnection and watching the precarious balance between duty and love. Infused with loads of humor, and three attention-stealing goats named Cinnamon, Toast, and Crunch, my heart was quickly won over.

They’ve been waiting for years
Two people attracted to each other but both afraid to make any move toward a relationship. Such a fun book with a lot of depth. Lottie had grown up with Tyson as her brother’s best friend. She had felt attracted to him for years. But when her family moves to DC she loses touch except what little her brother shares. Tyson had been attracted to Lottie but had been told by her mother that he was not acceptable. He could not help her mother’s career and worse yet he now played professional hockey. When Tyson gets chosen to play in a tournament in DC he hopes to reconnect with her. But her mother has other plans including fake dating someone ‘acceptable’ to help raise her ratings. However, the attraction both feels is only stronger than before. With her mother in the way is there any hope at all? I received an early copy and this is my honest review.

Ooh the Stars, Stripes, and Hockey Nights series is definitely off to a fabulous start with this one!! First off, I have to say that this is such a unique idea to have the books in this series each written by a different author, but the MMCs are all playing hockey together in an exhibition tournament and show up in each other’s books. They can be read separately but I’m going to have a lot of fun recognizing the players from their own books when they appear in other ones.

This one is a brother’s best friend and friends-to-more story. Lottie and Ty are so cute together and I love that he is always there for her, no matter what harebrained scheme her mother has come up with for her. It’s sweet to see their friendship blossom into a romance. And the goats! They had me laughing out loud at all of their antics. I’m a huge fan of hockey romance and there is plenty of it so far. I’m excited to see what comes up in the next book!
