The Rogues: A Rockstar Omegaverse Romance

Rate this book
Josie Rosewood’s life has been mapped out since birth.
Piano prodigy. Good girl. Daughter of a congressman.

Until she picked up her first guitar and realized how much she loves rock n’ roll.

Now a global sensation, Josie and her band are at the height of their career, but living in the limelight comes at a cost. Despite Josie’s attempts to keep them from drowning, it seems inevitable that addiction, fame, and arrogance will be their downfall. And when their new album fails to exceed expectations, their record label comes up with a plan that only makes things worse:

Touring with their rivals.

The Rogues may be a talented rock group, but they’re also the biggest thorns in Josie’s side. They’ve procured quite a reputation at her band’s expense, constantly going tit-for-tat with them in the press.

But when Josie meets them, they’re more put-together than they seem. An established pack with strong relationships, unlike Josie and her friends who are crumbling. And to make matters worse: they’re her scent matches.

Cyrus, the lead singer and ex-PR boyfriend of Josie’s best friend.

Remi, the mysterious bass player with modelesque features.

Malaki, fellow guitar player and suspicious ray of sunshine.

Lennon, the unhinged drummer with a sinful accent.

And Jamie, the beta keyboardist with a heart of gold.

Messy betrayals, secret rendezvous’, and the power of rock n’roll… There's a lot to unpack and Josie seems to be lost in the chaos. But one thing she knows for sure:

This is a tour no one will ever forget.

The Rogues completely exceeded my expectations. From the very first chapter, I was hooked. Layney Jones does an incredible job balancing action, and emotion, making it impossible to put the book down. I especially loved the way the book was centered around a tour and two rock bands, it really gave the book something unique.

What really stood out to me was the character development. Every decision felt meaningful, and the relationships evolved naturally, adding depth to an already compelling story. The dialogue was sharp and the world felt immersive without ever slowing the pace.

The story largely also revolves around substance abuse and in my opinion this was handled very well and respectfully by the author. The grief Josie feels at the loss of her friend is so visceral and really something that makes the story so believable.

If you love stories filled with secrets, found family, high stakes, and realistic characters, this book is absolutely worth picking up. I already can't wait to read what Layney Jones writes next.

By far, one of the best OV books I’ve ever read. An easy five stars from me!

‼️SPOILERS‼️
🌟 Read Your Triggers 🌟

Oh my goodness, this book was so worth the wait! When it comes to Layney and her books, she definitely knows what she is doing. You’re going to feel all the emotions. I really thought Finally Yours was my favorite but now, I just don’t know anymore. Layney did such a good job from the addiction in this book to the chronic illness.

Josie - I really loved this girl so much. When she discovers that her scent matches happens to be her best friend’s ex and his pack, she is in a really tough spot.

Pack Darlington were so patient with Josie. They knew they had to be with the situation. I’ve never read it where the guys had so much patience like they did with Josie. Also, the scene where they brought her clothes for her to choose from along with the hairbands that Jamie brought out. That is definitely my favorite scene in this book.

But Lennon - ugh, he took my heart out. When I found out that the character with the chronic illness was one of the alpha’s, my heart swooned. Usually, it’s always the alpha that’s the strongest character and has no issues so this was a breath of fresh air. When he told Josie about it, my heart sang. I felt so bad when he lost himself when he scared the pack and Josie.

I also loved the separate dates that she had with the guys. I loved how she got to know each guys on each of them. I will say that the first time Jamie showed up with food was so cute.

And Cleo… this girl is a piece of work. I have a feeling that when her book comes out because we all know she has to get one that it’s going to be epic.

I laughed when the guys met Lark and Nicola because they were freaking out so bad meeting her friends since they were officially a pack out in the open.

Also, Cyrus and Josie’s talk about their childhoods and their parents was everything because it really gave Josie the courage to finally stand up to her god awful parents.

If you’re looking for a good time with all the feels from happy to hurt/comfort to the amazing spice scenes to just wanting to hurt a girl because she hurt our girl, you’re going to love to. Also, if you love a mix between rockstar star and omegaverse, you’re going to fly through this book like I did.

I seriously cannot wait for the next book in this series because just wow! This is just one of those books that shocks you to the core and makes you want more even when it’s over and done with.

That last chapter - oh man. I cannot wait!

I received a copy of this book and this is my honest review.

Wow. Just wow. This book honestly has me a little speechless. I finished it one sitting which always happens with Layneys books.
I don’t know how she does it but every time I read one of her books I fall even more in love with the worlds she creates.
This book made me laugh it made me cry and it made me feel so so many things.
Layney has a gift for storytelling and every time I read one of her books I’m astounded by her talent.
Josie was such a beautiful character and seeing her go through all she went through made me want to reach into the book and hug her.
I loved each and every member of her pack they were so well written and adorable honestly pack goals.
I felt like I was falling in love with them right along with her.
The last chapter absolutely blew my mind and I cannot wait for the next book!
As always I wish I could give more than 5 stars because this book deserves it.

Genre: NA/Adult Omegaverse
Spice: 3/5🌶️
*spice ratings are relative to similar books in the same genre*

The Catalog: MMMFMM omegaverse, secret scent-matches, politician’s daughter, rival rock bands, tour forced proximity, chronic illness rep (lupus), forbidden romance, bestie’s former fake ex, piercings galore (Jacob’s ladder), neurodivergent FMC, “fuck it,” tour bus nest,

CWs: classism, drug abuse, alcohol abuse, addiction, toxic friendship, emotional abuse, domestic abuse, panic attack,

Kink: power dynamics, BDSM: bondage, shibori, marking kink, pushing it back in, praise & degradation, spanking

Synopsis:
Josie and her band, Vicious Velvet, are looking forward to some rest after a grueling tour, but then their label springs the impossible on them: a join tour with their rivals, The Rouges. Josie’s bestie used to fake-date the pack leader, but if that’s not complicated enough, her entire life is flipped upside down when Josie meets the band in person for the first time and realizes that they are her scent-matches.

Thoughts:
I had the honor of beta reading this one and really enjoyed Josie and her pack! Josie, herself, is a pretty easy going rockstar who’s in it for the love of music and the connection and friendship she has with her bandmates. But not all that glitters is gold, and the band is deteriorating from the inside out as her bestie wrestles with some serious inner demons.

I’m sure you can imagine how complicated it is to tour with the men that are secretly your scent matches, while not telling a soul because everyone, especially your fragile bestie, believes that they are your greatest rivals. There’s forbidden feels, broken hearts, moments of realization that leave the characters on their knees, and a deserved HEA.

As for the romance, there’s a lovely mashup of some fast-burn spice with slow burn feels, lots of care and secret spoiling, and a pack that is so supportive you can’t help but root for them. Lastly, one of my favorite tropes in rockstar romance is a tour / tour bus forced proximity situation, and I got exactly what I wanted 😙

4.5 ⭐️ rounded up.
I've truly enjoyed everything that Layney writes!! This is a new series that's a rockstar omegaverse (non shifting). I was instantly hooked on this rivalry between bands and devoured this book in a little under 2 days. Those spicy scenes were HOTTTT.
I love Josie's individual relationship with the guys as well as how the guys' relationships are with each other. I am a huge fan of text messaging/group chats in books and I thoroughly enjoyed this one too!

I wish that the other side female characters besides Cleo were more fleshed out though. They were kind of just existing alongside the conversation and didn't have any impact on either side of the conflict.

I don't think I've ever hated a person more than Cleo in this book. It is so real to try to resist accepting the fact that your best friend who you've known basically your entire life is not the person you know anymore. And leaving or breaking those friendships can be hard - especially when you know they need help but they won't accept it. I'm guessing Cleo will be getting her own book at some point but I'm not sure I'll be too excited to read it.

Thank you Layney for the ARC!!

I’m in absolute love with this book. I love how patient Pack Darlington is for Josie, and they are just perfect for her. And I really love that Josie realized that she needed to live for herself and her pack, not anyone else. I also really appreciate that when everything went down that the pack didn’t part, they stayed together. Maybe I am used to third act breakups, which I am not the biggest fan of, but this caused them to be closer. I’m guessing Cleo is the next one of the series, her book will be a ride. But I know will be worth it. Because I trust Layney as an author!

4.5 Stars!

The Rogues is a gritty and gorgeous MMMFMM Omegaverse from Layney Jones and I was absolutely seated from the beginning. I love how Layney writes, and this book is absolutely no exception, and the story is fantastic.

We meet Josie, a member of Vicious Velvet, an all omega rock band. I really loved Josie, she was relatable and very down to earth. She came from a lot, and went on a completely different track from her parents and I really loved that about her because it did come at the cost of her parents being just horrible to her. We also meet her pack, Lennon, Malaki, Cyrus, Remi, and Jamie. Josie discovers they are her scent matches after their band, The Rogues, ends up going on tour with Josie's band. I literally loved every single pack member in this book, they were all so unique and easy to tell apart and that is so hard when they are larger packs! Jamie was my favorite, and the first one that really stuck out to me. He was sweet and kind as the Beta of the group, but also filthy and I loved that.

I loved that we get the why choose dynamic and the omegaverse dynamic. Queer Why Choose books are my favorite as a queer person so that was so important to me. This book ticked all of my boxes and I absolutely loved it. I really enjoyed the different relationship dynamics between the MMCs as well, and I liked that that remained important to them even after the addition of Josie.

The character development in this book is fantastic as well. Each of them have to deal with serious issues and have to overcome a lot, and it's done with care. Josie has so many complicated feelings with her friend Cleo, and Layney really did a fantastic job of showing what it's like to love an addict. Josie has to figure out how to put herself first with her developing relationship and it is really beautiful to witness.

The spice was also amazing... I won't share too much on that, but my god you really have to read it.

Overall--- this book is pretty great and I will be yelling at everyone to read it.

🎸 Why Choose (MMMFMM)
🎸 Secret Relationship
🎸 Omegaverse
🎸 Fated Mates
🎸 Neurodivergent FMC

⚠️ Be sure to check trigger warnings, there are some heavier topics in this one 🫶🏻

This book was such a great time. The Rogues had me cackling maniacally, bawling my eyes out, and sobbing happy tears numerous times over.

I love all the different dynamics in this book. There’s such drastic differences between the relationship the four omegas that make up Vicious Velvet share, the relationships that make up The Rogues, and then ultimately the relationships that eventually come together to create Pack Darlington.

The Rogues are so. Freaking. Sweet. Their patience and support when it came to Josie was beautiful. They didn’t just find out they were scent matches and immediately pressure her into joining their pack, they respected her wishes and boundaries, gave her the space she needed to figure everything out, and still stayed nearby, politely finding ways to spend time with her. I absolutely loved their bonding scene. 🥹

I’m really intrigued to learn more about the girls of Vicious Velvet as this series goes on! I’m already obsessed with Lark and the protective big sister vibes she gives off. Can’t wait for more of Nicola’s antics and to get to know her better. I’m thinking next book is going to be Cleo’s and I’m so ready for it!

I think Layney did an incredible job when it came to discussing addiction in this book. It’s such a sensitive topic and obviously so hard to see someone go through, but I think she did a wonderful, respectful job depicting it from both sides with the toll it takes.

Thank you so much to Layney Jones for the opportunity to ARC read this book. All thoughts are my own. 💗

Thank you for the arc!

This was a pretty alright omegaverse romance. Not amazing but not bad either.

The primary conflict came from FMC's best friend (and bandmate) being the fake-ex of a rival band, who hate each other now for unknown reasons. But it soon becomes clear that MMC and his band are absolutely precious angels that did nothing wrong (supposedly) and the best friend is just needlessly mean. That's it. That's the entire conflict.
The romance burned rather fast for my taste (but I am a slowburn lover), and as soon as FMC and the love interests got intimate, there were basically no scenes anymore with Josie's bandmembers and instead it was just romantic scenes between Josie and one (or more) band members.
I'm just mildly disappointed because I'd hoped for more. But it's a nice calm book in the series that does very little new with minimal angst.

I absolutely loved this book! Layney Jones is one of my favorite newer Omegaverse authors as she simply writes amazing stories.

This new series is amazing. In The Rogues, we meet the all omega band Vicious Velvet. This story focuses on Josie, but the other members of the band are a large part of her story. This is not a lighthearted read, as addiction is front and center for a large part of this book. Josie’s story is both heartbreaking and heartwarming, as she learns to put herself first and accept her scent matches. Their story is beautifully written, both sweet and sad as Josie struggles to help her best friend.

I loved all of the characters of this book. Josie was pretty amazing on her own, but she really shined with the support of her pack. Each of the men were well-written and brought something Josie needed.

I loved this book so much and can’t wait to see where the series goes.

Oh my heart..... Where I do begin with the review. This book is such a great opener for the series, I instantly hooked from the start, I love how Layney captures the friendship between Josie and Cleo (and then with Lark and Nic as well) and her mates perfectly. Like... oh to be young with your best friend and had a million dream and then life happened and along the way their friendship got shaky but then universe got you your scent matches, likeee whaaaa 😭🫠🥺 my heart feels like it's on roller coaster the entire time with the ups and downs throughout this book. Great job as always, Layney!!! ILY!!! Can't wait for Cleo's book! 🥰❤️‍🔥

This is probably my favorite Layney Jones read. I love a rockstar romance and combine that with omegaverse and it’s going to be hard for me not to be obsessed. This book follows Josie Rosewood, the guitarist of an all female omega rock band, Vicious Velvet and the relationships in her life.

From her strained relationship with her parents, her rockstar uncle who was more of a parent to her than her own, her frayed relationship with her best friend/lead singer of her band, her other bandmates, their fans, and her scent matches who are not only her band’s rivals but also whose lead singer who’s her best friend’s “ex,” Josie is going through a lot. To say the least.

Josie has this habit of trying to keep it all together even at the cost of herself and this book explores exactly how steep that cost is and the effect it has on her and the people she loves. The book was actually quite triggering for me because of the realistic portrayal of loving someone with a drug addiction and trying to save them only to realize you can’t help someone who doesn’t want it. It was raw and painful to read and it brought up a lot of feelings I try to bury. But that’s also what makes this so great.

My favorite books are the romances that aren’t only about the romance but include friendship and family and The Rogues is exactly that. I feel so connected to Josie. I don’t come from a wealthy family and I’m not a famous rockstar but I know exactly how it feels to grieve someone who’s still alive and how devastating it is to know you’ve done your best to help someone who’s spiraling and that made Josie real to me. I wanted to reach through the pages and hug her and let her cry on my shoulder.

As for her guys, I felt they were all distinct in personality and did not feel two-dimensional. They all have issues they have to work through and do what they can to support/protect each other and Josie. They treat her extremely well and their HEA is hard-won.

I rate this more of a 4.5 only because the ending feels a bit unfinished. It leaves some unanswered questions and left me feeling somewhat unsettled. I prefer an epilogue even in an interconnected series and one that’s from the POV of the mcs to avoid that feeling. So that’s my one nitpick but truly adore this book otherwise.

If you go into this seeing the to die-for cover thinking it’s going to be a cute and fun light read omegaverse, this is not that. This definitely has lighter moments that will make you laugh but there’s also absolutely angst and some heartbreak and drama. It’s painful and real and devastating at times. And you might want to scream with frustration at Cleo (best friend/lead singer) especially but Layney does a great job setting us up for the next book.

I also want to mention two things: 1–that I love how her one mate has an autoimmune condition (Lupus) and his struggles felt researched, accurate, and realistic and 2–how immersive the rockstar life aspect felt. The best rockstar romance books make the rockstar life feel authentic and this was exactly that IMO.

I read an ARC but it did not affect my genuine thoughts. I recommend this for anyone who loves a rockstar romance/RH/omegaverse/hurt/comfort/emotional depth.

Layney has done it again!! Another amazing omegaverse romance, I just love these worlds she creates and the characters?! A-mazing

I really liked the way this story went. It was something really different, with all of them being in bands and loving music.

I knew I was gonna love Josie from the very first moment. She just seemed so loving and caring and just a super amazing omega. And then add 4 even more amazing, loving alpha's and one super cute beta, I mean, what more could you need.

All off the mmc's added something interesting and different to both the story and pack dynamics. With some of them having difficult pasts and then others having big loving families, the only thing I would wish I could have read was the families meeting Josie, omg that would have been everything!!

These mmc's were just perfect, like there is nothing, literally nothing they did wrong. They listened to Josie and what she wanted even if that might hurt them a little, but just shows how much they care, SWOOON. And then there's of cource they relationships with the guys, loveeed it, they just all fit perfectly together.

I think this might just be my favorite books Layney has written so far, it just had everything from a good storyline to some amazing characters and her writing is always amazing of cource and that was no different here!

Thank you so much to Layney for letting me read The Rogues in advance and I cannot wait to see what more you have for us in this series! And if you love a good omegaverse with FIVE amazing mmc's who are just like the fmc in a rock band, than The Rogues is the book for you, it's coming out today July 2nd!

I love Layney’s books. She writes some amazing omegaverse stories and this one was a great start to a new series. If you love the omegaverse world, stories with swoon worthy moments, spice, found family, drama, then you might love this book.
This story revolves around Josie and her mates. Josie is in a band with her friends and her mates are all in another band. There is tension between the groups from the start.

I felt bad for Josie. She didn’t have a warm and loving home growing up and the one person who truly cared and loved her passed when she was little. She found a family within friends and started a band that turned out to be a hit. But things started to change. Her best friend, Cleo, had become unpredictable and she never knew how to respond.
Josie met her scent matches early on in the story. And for most it’s a wonderful thing. But in this case it happens to be with the band her best friend hates. Josie tries to keep her distance because she doesn’t want to hurt her best friend or lose that friendship. The guys are understanding and take things at her pace. But after a while things start to change and Josie can’t stay away anymore. And to be honest she never should have. Cleo has her issues with the band, but none of that was Josie’s fault. Plus these men are Josie’s scent matches. She shouldn’t have had to choose between her mates and her best friend.
All the guys were so sweet and caring throughout the book. They went along with whatever Josie wanted. They stepped back and let her figure things out. When they learns about her sensory issues they made sure to remember that for her future nest. They took her on fun dates. They made her feel loved and wanted and special. There were so many swoon worthy moments. I fell in love with this pack.
I really hope things work out in the end with Josie and Cleo. Cleo went through a lot during this book but she took her anger out on Josie and put her through the wringer; which she didn’t deserve. She has some big apologies to do.
Looking forward to reading the rest of this series.

Josies already trying to stop vicious velvet from falling apart and thennnn her label decides the obvious solution is to send them on tour with the one band theyve been publicly beefing with like plz i love that for her.

The Rogues have spent ages taking shots at them in the press so josie already has opinions before she even properly knows them and then she finds out theyre her scent matches. as if that wasn’t messy enough Cyrus is also her best friends ex pr boyfriend so theres literally no version of this that was ever going to be simple.

Josie had me stressed bc shes constantly trying to keep everyone else together while her own life is getting more chaotic by the day. The stuff with Cleo and addiction gets heavy and you can feel how badly Josie wants to fix things she just can’t fix for someone else. then Pack Darlington are just patient with her like they already have their own relationships and instead of expecting Josie to instantly slot into the pack they actually give her room to work out what she wants. I loved that because there are 5 of em and that could have become overwhelming real quick. the guys are also so easy to tell apart which I neeeeed in why choose. Cyrus has all the awkward history, Remi is harder to read, Malaki is sunshiney, Lennon is chaos and Jamie is such a sweetheart. plusss Lennon having a chronic illness was not something I expected from an alpha character and I was veryyyy here for it, we need more of this.

all the tour stuff was fun bc youve got rival bands, press drama, secret meetups and everyone being stuck around each other while pretending this situation is not getting wildly out of hand.

obsessed is not strong enough of a word to describe how i feel about josie and her lack of perfect men. each way she met them had me screaming and kicking my feet. jamie and the fact that he got that *redacted* after just meeting her once???? SOLD. where is my split hair crop top wearing keyboardist??? and Cyrus with his steady love and dominance. He had a melting at any mention of him. Malakai is the total blue haired golden retriever package and he was always just so ready to move any mountains for josie. And Lennon…GIRL LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT LENNON. He is one smooooooooooth criminal. Oh my god. I know you’re not supposed to pick favourites but he’s the flavour I prefer today LOL. And Remi…BAHSJHSGWJDIWB!!!!!! he has me panting and screaming!!! Josie though. Girl i love you so much. Can we be besties?? (lol ik that’s not possible). She has endured so much bitterness and pain in her life, and from the exactly moment the men came into her life they were on a freaking MISSION to give her everything and make every day be better than the last. Every member of the pack loves eachother so much and it is so evident and just radiates off the page. I absolutely loved this book. My heart hurts so much for Cleo and Josie’s relationship and i can only hope they can build up to something better in the future. It breaks my heart that Josie blames herself, but everyone makes their own decisions in life and their self destruction has nothing to do with you. And that’s a hard lesson to learn. I also LOVED the neurodivergent rep in this book. I totally got it when Josie said that being overwhelmed while performing and being somewhere overwhelming were two different things. I loved this book so much and I CANT WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE!!! 💜💜💜

Oh. My. God.

I love Layney so bloody much, honestly, I do not how she does it!!
I always go into any ARC with caution, so worried THIS will be the book I may not love, but let's be real about this - Layney could write a 5000 page manual on how to unclog a drain and I'd be like, yes ma'am, 5 stars

This was such a powerful read for me. Having a neurospicy FMC was so refreshing for someone who is both Autistic and ADHD, Josie was so incredibly relatable to me, I have the very similar traits and have dealt with very similar situations, where you have to remove yourself in fear of anxiety attacks or Meltdowns. Neither are fun and the guilt from leaving it to other people to clean up, it was so raw, I wanted to cry. So thank you, for writing about Neurodivergency so well and so beautifully.
I felt the pain through each character, the circumstances they'd found themselves in, not being able to be out and proud of their Pack, their mates, their love. It was so visceral, my heart broke for them.
I love how we got to see their relationship blossom, those bonds strengthening throughout the book before we saw any conflict, the angst isn't directly involved with our main characters, they just fall in love, become a unit.

This was a love is love pack, with deep adoration and deeper connections, we felt it all through the story, the characters and the way they grew with each other.
This entire read lit me up, it was perfectly balanced with the sweet and the cozy and the angst.
If you love,
Scent matched mates, forced proximity, chaotic meet cutes, golden retrievers, Cinnamon Rolls and Broody musicians who are soft only for them, secret and forbidden relationships then this is definitely the book for you!!

This book was simply phenomenal. One of my favorite reads of the year so far.

There were so many emotions to unpack with this book. As someone who has lived through a person I love having a substance addiction, I definitely felt so much for Josie.

Cleo brought so many emotions to the surface, mainly of anger, but that’s what the best books can do. I just want Cleo to be okay, hopefully she can find peace in her story.

I loved Lark from the start, I think the first note I took in the book was literally “I already love Lark” 😂 I hope she gets a book because I need to see her get a happy ending.

Nicola was really stuck in her own world and I’m honestly glad she was shaken by the incident. She needed the wake up call to her own behavior.

They guys were all absolute green flags of perfection. It made me so happy that multiple boyfriends were also boyfriends.

It made me inexplicably happy that all the main characters were mature adults who communicated and were un-afraid to show their feelings and emotions. Any miscommunication was quickly fixed with an open and honest conversation. 🙌🏻

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Layney Jones has done it again. At this point, she’s cemented herself as my queen of Omegaverse because every book she releases somehow gets better and better.

I knew I was going to love this book before I even started it, and it still managed to exceed every expectation I had.

Josie is such a beautiful protagonist. Her kindness, protectiveness, and selfless nature made her impossible not to love, and watching her journey throughout the story was incredibly rewarding. She faces some difficult moral dilemmas and carries so much guilt, but seeing her slowly learn to put herself first with the support of the Rogues was such a satisfying emotional journey.

I fully expected Lennon (ginger beer scent and all 🫣) to steal my heart, but I wasn’t prepared to fall in love with every single member of the Rogues. Each of them had their own personality, their own charm, and together they created such a supportive, loving dynamic that I couldn’t get enough of.

The rock band setting was so much fun and added a fresh twist to the story. The chemistry between the characters, the emotional moments, the humour, the romance, and, of course, the scent matches all came together perfectly.

This book hit every emotional beat. It made me laugh, swoon, and ache for these characters in all the best ways. If you’re a fan of Omegaverse with incredible character development, found family, emotional healing, and a genuinely lovable pack, I can’t recommend this enough.

Now I’m counting down the days until Cleo’s story… and I have a feeling a certain Ethan is going to have a big role to play. 👀

Thoroughly enjoyed Josie's and The Rogue's journey from start to finish! Josie's conflict with wanting to get to know her scent matches in contrast to wanting to be a loyal best friend to Cleo. Every single member of The Rogues was loveable too; each had their own distinct personality that separated them from each other. The spicy scenes were great, the plot kept me invested and was weaved well into the relationship development. Lark was definitely Josie's lifeline in helping keep the band going and loved her character so much for that. Nicola got a rude awakening in this but still felt she was trying to be supportive in her own way. Can't recommend this standalone enough and excited for the rest of the books in this universe!

Cyrus was always looking after his pack members to the best of his ability being the best prime he could be. Jamie, the beta, was such a sweetheart who was always checking in with his pack mates and had a relationship with Malaki and Cyrus (the photo section was hot). Malaki treated Josie to a secret celebrity tattoo artist with Jamie for their date which was so cute; loved Malaki extra piercings! Lennox and Remi were only scent matched to Josie and it was a cute bonding between them both. Lennox suffers from autoimmune disease but it doesn't take away from his fun side and his extra piercings which made Josie one happy girl! Lastly we have Remi whose a little quiet and mysterious but he is definitely protective and slightly possessive when it comes to Josie and loved their dynamic.

2 band, 1 tour, ALLLLLLL the emotions

This is my first book by Layney Jones and it definitely won't be my last. This book did a great job of building the relationships, the struggles and the tour itself.

This book starts with being told you will be touring with The Rogues whom one of the members had a fake relationship with in the past. During this announcement meting you also discover that you are scent matched to at least one member of the band. Let the tour begin.

Josie started this band with her friends and has loved everything about it. Except that Cleo turned to drugs at the end of the last tour. Now the band is watching out for her. Josie having to juggle the scent matches and her best friends feeling over her "ex" is a delicate balance.

I loved how Josie slowly let the pack in. The individual dates were freaking adorable. The intimate moments were thoughtful and helped build the relationships. I loved seeing the beta take charge where he is usually so submissive.

The character and situations were all so real and charged with emotions. Watching Josie's struggle between wanting her pack and not wanting to hurt her friends is felt through every interaction. Seeing the cracks in everyone's armor made them more human. You see intimidation from family and the label. You see the drug addiction. You see an alpha with an autoimmune disease that no one but his pack and family know about. You see an Omega finally allowing herself to find happiness even if it is messy.

I can't wait to see what is next. I just know Cleo's story is going to be messy.

i wanted a little bit more from this. i think this book could’ve gone a little more slowly and been more detailed. i wanted more romance from the actual romance and i wanted more from josie and her bandmates. the conflict with cleo and her drug use is probably the most interesting aspect of this book, and it just doesn’t really get interrogated that well. it poses more questions than it really answers. like okay cleo has been using drugs since before she met raven, but that’s apparently a surprise? so when did the drugs start? was this just a “party girl” who took it too far, or was this something deeper? why is raven out here handing out free drugs to strangers seemingly just to piss off josie?

now i do generally like josie and pack darlington, i just really wanted this to feel deeper and more intense. because so much of this book is kinda josie fighting the scent match for a little bit and then suddenly we’re all in love and going on dates and everything is wonderful. i think they just needed more time. especially because even with josie fighting it, she’s still out here fooling around with remi after meeting him one minute ago, and that kind of comes back in other ways as well. like even when she decides not to fight the scent match, she jumps right into the sex instead of actually exploring this possibility, which just doesn’t feel like what this character would do. she’s so worried about cleo and the band, so i just feel like she would wait to get to any of the physical stuff until she’s fully felt out this connection and decided whether or not the risk was worth it.

The Rogues is the first book in the Rock N’ Roll Omegaverse, an interconnected standalone series of rockstar romances. I received an advance review copy and my thoughts are my own. Thank you to the author for my eArc.

What to expect:
✨ Why choose (mmmfmm)
✨ All omega rock band
✨ Rivals to lovers
✨Scent matches
✨Chronic illness rep (lupus)
✨Neurodivergence rep (sensory)
✨Nest on a tour bus
✨First hear & bond marks
✨Multi, first person POV

Rating: 4/5 Stars 3/5 Flames
Nicknames: Petal, Bubbles, Little Vicious, Baby

The Lovely: I absolutely adore the pack of alphas and the beta. They are all swoonworthy and mature enough to be patient and respectful when it comes to the FMC. I appreciate that they took the time to understand her (I.e. with courting gifts) rather than just being showy.

The Mundane: Some of the plot didn’t feel believable to me - namely, that no one learned of their secret until the pack revealed it. Her omega band mates didn’t scent the alphas all over her? No one questioned why she was always with the pack? It stuck out to me, especially given the perceptions about the two bands.

Recommendation: This was an interesting start to the series and I’m curious to see where it goes with the other omegas. My understanding is each book will follow one of the omegas in the band. If you’re in the mood for a rockstar omegaverse romance with messy friends but a swoonworthy pack, I think you would like this book.

Book one of this new series from this amazing author is a read and a half you start off with Cleo and and Josie or Josephine are their best friends as kids and they're talking about starting a band because Cleo apparently has an amazing voice and Josie just doesn't want to be the perfect little doll that her parents want.

This is a rock and roll white shoes for sure you've got Josie who is the main character in this book but it looks like all the friends that they're peeling around with will be getting their own book and I cannot wait for that but Josie is the main and she finds of all people Cleo's pretend ex-boyfriend which is Cyrus , his boyfriend Jamie who's got a boyfriend named Malaki , you also have their other two best friends which is Remy and Lennon and these five guys have been best friends from England since they were like teenagers

I can just say that the spice is off the chart you have a lot of boyfriends with boyfriends and girls and boys and new girls and girls on page I will let you know that this author always has the spiciest and some of the best story lines they are very genuine and knowledgeable in some of the things now I do recommend read this trigger warnings cuz it says cover a lot of sensitive subjects but I cannot wait to see what else comes over the series
