The Correspondence of Joseph Justus Scaliger

Rate this book
These volumes contain a critical edition of every letter written by Joseph Scaliger or sent to him which the editors have been able to locate. The text of every known source for this correspondence has been examined, and where possible collated. The notes accompanying each letter are intended to bring together information which allows the reader to understand its immediate concerns and its wider significance in Scaliger's life. In pursuit of this end, an attempt has been made to assign a date to every undated letter in the corpus.
English synopses have been provided for each letter to enable their contents to be quickly assessed.
