Iirc the novel was advertised as having a new ending from the game but its literally just a mash up of the fox wets its tail and the ebisugaoka in silence ending. BUT if you don't play the game you are missing a ton of context from these endings (for example how Shu said he couldnt handle hinako being with someone other than him or how Kotoyuki was on and off possessed by the fox, AND how both him and hinako said i hope we can meet again after we make sense of our feelings). A lot of this story is about how patriarchy also hurts men and how they can indirectly hurt women they care about even if they think its for "their own good" so its weird to see people say shu was the best pick for hinako when he still had an ulterior motive for drugging her and kotoyuki was the one who broke off the engagement and went to go discover himself so they can meet again as better people. I've seen too many bad takes on twt from just this novel so i think this couldve been a lot better.
