June Arrives, August Stays by Cameron Tate is a contemporary romance novel about a single mother and her nanny. The relationship is complicated by the fact that Melissa is a senator who has experienced a public divorce and is currently attempting to pass legislation aimed at expanding infrastructure in rural communities. June is a culinary school graduate who was unsuccessful in the restaurant industry and had previously been involved with an older manager.
June is re-evaluating her life and takes a summer job caring for Senator Melissa Brandt's seven-year-old daughter. Unexpectedly, Melissa finds that this summer brings something she and her daughter have both been missing.
Politics is messy. An age-gap relationship involving an authority figure can be messy. Melissa and June are both strong in their own ways, and it takes strength to be vulnerable.
I like the relationship dynamics and the character development. The timeline for the relationship seems plausible. There are tension-filled moments, but I would have liked to see more of that. They bonded in quiet moments and shared moments with Lila, Melissa's daughter. They revealed their insecurities and offered each other a safe space. June gradually melts Melissa's icy exterior simply by being sincere and caring.
June is the younger partner in the relationship, but she is wise, nurturing, and in control behind closed doors. There are lovely steamy scenes, as this is the spicy version of Tate's novel, although they are not explicit. The scenes are sensual and a bit vague, but enjoyable.
I am a fan of this author. Her novels consistently feature engaging plots, thoughtful insights, complex characters, and both tender and steamy moments.
I am excited to read the rest of the books in the Bean There, Done That series.

melissa brandt needs a nanny to help with her daughter, the senator has a lot on her plate but her daughter takes precedents but there are times when she needs help.... and her daughter is worrying her... she is to grown up for the little girl she is... to quiet.... melissa wants her daughter to enjoy her life and to laugh again....
june has never met a more serious child but slowly very slowly they begin to gel and enjoy each others company, it helps that june knows interesting facts about otters
ohhh man this hits right on so many levels.... it pulls you into the centre of their world and keeps you there and when the dirt hits ohhh man it was heartbreaking to read... felt it on so many levels
but loved the ending ...no spoilers from me you will have to read it yourself
i am excited to read any book by this author as she pulls you into the world she creates with some very good characters.... i just need me to find a cook now...

You don’t read any novels about nanny’s then two come along at once! That is not a complaint but a compliment that I live in a time when two on the surface similar novels are in reality quite different. I am very lucky that recently I have had a run of good books. Also lucky that these two have been quite different dynamics apart from of course the kid-wranglers being younger and hotter that the other mains.
This is slow burn but not a slow novel. Interest builds and my interest is held. There is the spectre of jeopardy in the background as well as age gap and power dynamic.
The jeopardy comes forth and although I knew it would all work out, I enjoyed the way it was done. 3.5 up to a 4 because I did want to get back to this when I did have to stop reading.

June Arrives, August Stays is distinguished by its wonderful character development, deep emotionality and interesting plot. Cameron Tate always refines the stories she tells and knows how to excite the reader, draw them into the characters' problems and awaken questions like "what would I do?". Although this is the spicy version of the book, the erotic is beautifully veiled, without overt graphic descriptions, so the spice level is soft and subtly presented. I recommend all Cameron's stories - they are deep, emotional and worthy of readers' time.
