I felt like something was "off" about this novel as soon as I started reading it. My task then, throughout the remainder of the novel, was to try and figure out which fanfic it was, or whether it was even written by a human at all. The narrative was just a bit too devoid of any real feeling, there were no contractions in the narrative at all, the characters seemed two-dimensional and the insta-love nature of their romance fell a bit flat for me. There was also a fascination/obsession/kink with the rancher's breasts which really put me off after reading several laboured paragraphs about their density, size, bounceability, pendulous nature, etc etc etc. I'm not sure the author has ever met a woman before and, if they have, their fetish with mammary glands definitely showed.

I latterly found out that this is potentially an AI author which, frankly, would track given the clunky nature of the narrative itself and the lack of any real personality in the characters. There was a really good book to be found in the exploration of the age-gap, polarised background, celebrity love story, but unfortunately this novel wasn't it.

Rowan Hale is a rancher in Texas, the latest in several generations of her family to run the ranch. She is a strong woman, both physically and mentally, caring for those closest to her, caring for her land and the people that work for her, being very protective of her privacy and that of her twelve year old daughter, Maisie.
Skye is a pop star with a huge following amongst teen girls. She writes her own songs, and much of her music hints gently at her sexuality. Her followers are expecting her to come out publicly soon. Her real love is rooted in country music, but her label is always pushing her towards the pop side because the financial rewards are far higher for them. She is in a contract where the label’s demands and her artistic integrity are in direct opposition.
Somehow, this one got me in the emotions almost immediately… Rowan trying to come to terms with Maisie growing up, trying to control everything, and then the concert in the first chapter, the emotional description of the last song. After that, it gets better and better. This was a story I couldn’t put down.
The first stories I read by Ms Goswami needed a lot of editing, but under that there was always a good story. Now her writing is so different, so much better. This is an amazing story. It moves at a good pace, with a lot of thoughtful detail, and some very intense and sexy, steamy scenes. Skye teases Rowan, drawing out the sexual undercurrents, making her - and us - want. Rowan initially thinks Skye is a superficial and spoiled star, but later Skye shows her integrity and loyalty, her insecurities and her vulnerabilities. My only slight issue is that some of the sex references were too crass and dirty for my liking.

Through the first quarter of this book, I thought the author had just never been with a woman before. The dialogue (and especially inner dialogue) was weird in a way I couldn’t put together in my brain. (There were entire paragraphs about one of the characters boobs?)

Then, after getting to 50%, a scene started in one of their rooms and then suddenly switched to a different location entirely.

After researching the author and their other books, I realized I had spent an entire day reading AI. The concept was good but the writing was obviously not.

The plot for this book was good. That’s about the only good thing I have to say. I swear in a 380ish page book, 1/3 of the pages had some description of the one FMCs boobs. I simply did not need to hear about gravity on her tits and how big her tits were and how bouncy her tits were every couple of pages. I’m also relatively certain that the person who wrote this has never had sex with a woman, sex scenes were not written well.

I really liked Skye's confidence and playful personality. She's not afraid to push Rowan's buttons, but underneath all of that, she's dealing with the pressure of fame and the realization that being surrounded by people doesn't necessarily mean you have someone who truly knows you.

Rowan is:

Rowan is an older single mother and cattle rancher who has built a quiet, stable life for herself and her daughter, Maisie.

She is basically the definition of:

"I don't have time for your nonsense."

She's not impressed by Skye's celebrity status and doesn't trust her intentions, especially when Skye goes behind her back to get permission to film on the ranch.

Rowan is also fiercely protective of Maisie, which I really appreciated. Her daughter isn't just a plot device—Rowan's decisions throughout the story are heavily influenced by wanting to protect the life they've built together.

And then Skye comes along and completely disrupts everything.

Maisie

Maisie is Rowan's daughter and is ADORABLE.

She's also a huge Skye fan, which makes the whole situation even funnier.

I really enjoyed the found-family aspect of the story and the relationship between Skye and Maisie.



Skye & Rowan's Relationship

THIS IS WHAT I CAME FOR.

The chemistry between these two is SO good.

They couldn't be more different.

You've got:

Famous, glamorous pop star

vs.

Private, hardworking rancher

And neither of them is particularly happy about being attracted to the other.

At first, there is a genuine "I don't like you" element to their relationship. Rowan sees Skye as irresponsible, intrusive, and dangerous to the quiet life she's built.

Skye, meanwhile, finds Rowan's stubbornness incredibly frustrating...

...and also incredibly attractive.

The enemies-to-lovers progression worked really well for me because their conflict actually comes from their personalities and circumstances rather than them simply being mean to each other for the sake of the trope.

The age gap also adds an interesting layer.

Rowan is 18 years older than Skye, and Rowan is very aware of that difference. She has a daughter, a ranch, responsibilities, and an established life, while Skye is at a completely different point in hers.

So there's a lot of:

"This is a terrible idea."

followed immediately by:

"...but I want her anyway."

And I LOVED that tension.

Their relationship also becomes complicated by Skye's fame. Rowan doesn't want her private life turned into entertainment or dragged into headlines, while Skye is accustomed to having almost every aspect of her life scrutinized.

So when their relationship becomes public, it isn't just romantic drama—it genuinely threatens the life Rowan has worked so hard to build.

The ranch setting was such a fun contrast to Skye's celebrity lifestyle.

💭My Review

I HAD SO MUCH FUN WITH THIS.

Give me a famous pop star + grumpy rancher + huge age gap + small-town Texas + enemies-to-lovers + sapphic romance and apparently I will eat it up every single time.

The premise immediately grabbed me.

Skye comes to Texas expecting to film her music video, deal with her scandal, and get out.

Instead, she meets Rowan.

And Rowan is basically the exact opposite of what Skye needs...

...which obviously means she's exactly what Skye wants.

I LOVED their chemistry.

Their relationship starts with so much friction because Rowan genuinely doesn't trust Skye, and Skye is absolutely determined to get under Rowan's skin.

And honestly?

Watching Skye annoy Rowan was one of my favorite parts.

The flirting, the arguments, the tension, the stolen moments... YES.

The age gap also worked really well for me because it wasn't treated as something that could simply be ignored. Rowan is 18 years older, and she's at a completely different stage of life. She's a mother, she's established, and she's spent years building a stable life.

Skye is famous, impulsive, and constantly surrounded by chaos.

So Rowan has plenty of reasons to think:

"Absolutely not. This woman is going to ruin my life."

And then she falls for her anyway.

I also really liked how Maisie fit into the story. The fact that she's a huge Skye fan while Rowan is desperately trying to keep her distance made some of their interactions genuinely adorable.

And the ranch setting??

SO GOOD.

I loved the contrast between Skye's glamorous celebrity life and Rowan's quiet ranch life. It made the romance feel like these two completely different worlds crashing into each other.

The scandal and leaked videos also added a lot of tension because their relationship isn't happening in a vacuum. Skye's fame means that falling in love with Rowan has consequences, especially for Rowan and Maisie.

The spice was also VERY enjoyable.

There is a lot of chemistry between these two, and I thought the spice worked especially well because there was already so much tension between them beforehand.

That said, there were a few things that kept this from being a 5-star read for me.

Some of the drama felt a little predictable, and there were moments where I wanted the characters to communicate instead of letting certain problems snowball. A few conflicts also felt a little more dramatic than necessary.

I also occasionally wanted more depth from the side characters and some of the external conflicts. The romance was definitely the strongest part for me, while some of the plot surrounding the scandal/legal issues felt more like something to push the romance forward.

BUT.

I still had such a good time reading this.

It's fun. It's romantic. It's spicy. It's sapphic. There's a hot older rancher. There's a pop star. There's a daughter who is probably living her best life watching her mom fall for her celebrity crush.

And there is SO MUCH tension.

I am basically leaving a review to address other reviews saying it’s AI or that this author hasn’t had sex with a woman.

Is this the world’s greatest piece of writing? No. Are there some issues where a flashback/dream randomly start and we don’t know where the line is? Sure.

Does it feel like AI slop? Honestly no. I’ve read some AI slop, this felt just like a bit of an inexperienced author, but I felt like it had enough depth and character to be safely out of AI’s way.

Finally, it seems some sapphics in this review section forgot that we don’t all have sex in the same way. The scenes in this book are definitely quite reminiscent of real life (at least my real life), and as a boob obsessed person I can say I am annoyed other books DON’T have a page long description of a character’s perfect rack thank you very much.

This was my first sapphic book and i loved it. Have been having some thoughts on maybe being lesbian and i wanted to read a book where there would be a lesbian couple. This was the first book that popped up so I didn’t have really high expectation, but boy was i in for a treat this book was absolutely amazing, the tension between Rowan and Skye was to die for. Maisie was just an absolute sweetheart trough the whole book. The plot, the drama, the lawsuit and the ending were absolutely perfect! The only thing i would ad, would be a litte more spicy scenes between rowan and Skye, but they us just my personal opinion, cause the book is absolutely phenomenal as it is

This is pretty clearly AI slop. The characters are completely inhuman - their motivations and intentions change wildly from one page to the next (or probably from one prompting session to the next). A telltale sign of AI writing are the insane metaphors just slamming you in the face repeatedly, and none of them make any sense. The romance is nonexistent, the sex scenes read like the author has never had sex with a human woman, and there's a wildly uncomfortable obsession with one of the MC's breasts. It's giving "she breasted boobily down the stairs" the entire time. The best thing about this book is that it was free. Give this a miss.

I thought it was an interesting concept. I love sapphic romance so when this one popped up on my feed I decided to read it. I have mailed feelings on whether that was a good idea or not. I read the whole thing not because it was good or because I was obsessed with the characters, but because I liked the genre and trope. The characters didn’t really hit home and I feel like most problems were just skimmed over until the main conflict. Another thing is there were a lot of errors, both grammatical and continuation ones. A lot of questions left unanswered, but i genuinely felt so disconnected from the characters that I don’t want them answered.

Overall…meh. There were a number of inconsistencies, typos, and grammatical errors that just felt like the author (and some suspect AI prompter) got lazy and never thought to look back on. The characters seemed to not stick to their personalities from one chapter to another and lacked any real depth despite the shoehorned in tragic backstories that didn’t make much sense.
Finished it only because I had used my Amazon digital credits on it on a whim but will not be reading anything else from this author in the future.

A Texas rancher and her daughter are invaded by Hollywood!

Rowan is divorced, thank goodness. Unfortunately her ex husband stills owns half of the ranch and agrees to let Hollywood into the ranch with restrictions from the divorced wife. Unfortunately for her the star named Skye they brought to the ranch was younger than her but beautiful and she just notified everyone she likes girls. Hollywood as we all know doesn't care about feelings, if is sells, yay! Until it doesn't! Enjoy!

Music and ranching

Rowan has ranch come on by your ex-husband. Sky wants to shoot her video at the Hale ranch but Ronan is not in favor of it. This is a story about two different personalities from two different areas to find love. I found the plot very good and the book was very steamy and the love area. I like the characters and the way the story develop I recommend this book for all romance readers.

Not for me personally.

I find the characters in the book underdeveloped and rushed. The story falls a bit short especially with consistency and the age gap being 12 years isn’t really a problem for me but the fact that she is only 4 years older than her new step daughter and not over the legal limit to drink. Overall I like the premise of older rancher meets spoiled pop star but the characters are all so short term explosive and not that enjoyable to read.

I finished chapter 1 and couldn't continue any more. I have a feeling this is AI and i didnt like how the mum treated her 14 year old daughter.

I get not liking something your daughter likes but doesn't mean you have to shit on her likes. And God forbid a girl wants to wear glitter to a concert. THE HORROR!!!!

It clicked quite early on that this was either completely written with ai or ai helped and im not about that.

this was cute but at times it felt rushed or almost like the mcs didn't know each other at all but kept having such strong emotions and feelings for one another. there weren't enough one-on-one scenes or moments that showed the depths of their connections.

one other little thing was noticing a lot of words from the UK, such as "mum" a few times. it was funny reading about an american southern ranch but reading english words haha

Hay muchas inconsistencias en la historia, por ejemplo: la hija de la vaquera y la popstar JAMÁS tuvieron una interacción previa al beso entre la vaquera (su madre) y la cantante; así que cuando se filtró lo del beso entre ambas y todo lo que sucedió después fue muy ???? Porque ellas nunca tuvieron ese tipo de relación, es mas ni siquiera tenían una!

No soy muy hater del insta love peroooooo, diossss que horror; de pronto solo tenían algo la noche anterior y ya querían ser algo o actuaban como si ya lo fueran fue muy ???

No puedo asegurar que TODA la historia sea hecha con IA pero si noto bastante su uso, el uso excesivo de los puntos y seguido (.) cuando debería de ser una coma, el que se perdiera el hilo en una parte donde en un párrafo se narra en primera persona (POV de la vaquera) y al siguiente se narra en tercera persona (?), algunas frases…

La premisa y los temas estaban interesantes pero vaya historia resultó 🥲
