This quick read was filled with laughter and teachable moments. Mega was just being Mega! And so was the rest of the clan. I like how all the previous characters from other books come together as one big family.
Mega’s love for his daughter was unwavering; wanting to protect her from heartbreak and being taken advantage of. Talking to the Big G helped Mega a lot. The Bible study with the young men was really nice, teaching the values and opening their eyes about the overall scope of respect.
No matter the age to a loving father, his daughter will always be daddy’s girl!! 💕
It's always a good time when Mega's involved. I enjoyed this story too the fullest. Watching him and his crew navigate the complexities of watching and coming to terms with their children growing up and moving into new stages of their lives was both heartwarming and nostalgic. We are privy not only to the base crew's updates but also those of did of Mel's OG characters. While this may be the end of Mega's story, I hope we get to see more from the next generation.
I have been a part of this fictional universe from the very beginning with the Washington and Smith crew so to hear Justin referenced as a "great great uncle" has me all kinds of tight and also let's me know that I have really been through some things with these characters. So much so the universe is becoming a bit too much for me with all these character mentions that at times I am trying to remember which story I knew them from. This story showed a sneak peak of what we could expect in the future- especially with the epilouge, and while I enjoyed seeing Mega grow up for his baby girl and see what the rest of their generation has been up to- It's been about 6 years in real time since I first read about the OG Washington- Smith crew but apparently like 40 years in this book universe time. And while I am typically a fan who wants more from the characters I like, I think my time with these characters is done.
I am still a fan of this author and will gladly read a standalone from her. But I am no longer interested in stories with a matrix org-chart of characters where the OG's are all dead and gone and their kids are now the grandparents and great great uncles.
A Very Mega Time by Mel Dau is an absolute joyride from start to finish. This delightful short gave me the perfect chance to spend time with one of my favorite families, Megaton and Ruth—and let me tell you, it did not disappoint.
Watching them navigate the ups and downs of parenting had me cracking up, but it also delivered some surprisingly heartfelt moments. There’s real insight tucked between the laughs, especially when it comes to pouring into our children and the youth around us. And can we talk about Mega? He had that woman praying for patience because he was being... well, extra Mega. At least Ruth managed to keep it together without completely losing it!
The family dynamic is both hilarious and relatable, and Maggie being a full-on mini version of Mega in attitude just takes it to another level. I’m still laughing thinking about it.
This is one of those rare reads that makes you feel all the feels while keeping you thoroughly entertained. Fun, loving, and full of personality. A Very Mega Time is definitely a five-star experience and a must-read!
When I say I love my book bestie, I mean that with all of my heart!!!
The journey Mega and Dem have been through together holds a special place in my heart cause it reminds me that you can be a lot special and crazy and love Big G with your whole heart.
If you have never read any of Mel’s books about my book bestie Mega and Dem please start from the beginning cause they are one big happy, crazy family and they truly all blend together!!
So definitely add this book to your TBR, you will not be disappointed!!
I smiled and laughed even more!!!… I love how Mega took his torment about his daughter straight to the Big G and allowed himself to learn and as well as educate and equip others!!!… When your circle is strong, the children in the village are just as strong and determined!!!… Maggie is going to be her father’s kindred spirit, because that mouth is LETHAL!!!…I love how intentional Travis was about dating Maggie and understanding his role and treatment of her was very important!!!… I can’t wait to see what becomes of all the children of this family group!!!…
Mel Dau, what a wonderful update on one of my favorite men. Mega is the best! He really has grown with the family. Ruth, has grown as well. She knows how to handle Mega. The children are growing as well. To see how much love was given to one another was so good. I know you are putting him away. but I hope every now and then we can get an update. Love this series. 🤗🤗🤗🤗
As always, I enjoyed reading about Mega, his family & friends. They give new meaning to the saying, "birds of a feather, flock together." I find Megatron has calmed down a tad bit. He's not as unhinged as he used to be. I guess you can say that he matured (but he is still hilarious). This was a short one, and the ending was bittersweet. Hopefully, we'll learn what his offspring and sister do with their lives.
I love when we get to visit coreland with my favorite family. Watching Mega and Ruth navigate as parents to rising teenagers was a nostalgic feeling from when we first were introduced. The laughs and lessons were so very heartfelt and warming. I cannot wait to see how the children navigate life as adults if we are blessed to. Black love and excellence are always a must when Mel pens a story and I’ll always read it.
Ms. Mel I have fell in love with Mega. He is a wonderful Father, awesome friend, magnificent Husband and keeps me laughing. I've enjoyed reading about Him and his Family and friends. Please continue the family saga with the twins also. Of I'm going to read it over again . I'm working my way thru all of your books. Thanks for making my reading enjoyment so GREAT. Going on to my next book.🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🔥🌟🌟🌟
It is always a good time with mega and dem. I can't believe we have come full circle. This one had me cracking up with mega loosing it about his Lil girl Maggie dating. Family of loons for sure and I love them for it. Travis didn't back down and that's how you have to be with this family and friends. Ruth and Mega still cutting up in their respective ways. Def an enjoyable little short.
Don’t read this book, if you haven’t read at least the last book which is “I’m so mega “ , it just won’t hit the same, so please read that one before you dive into this book. This is the prefect ending to the Mansfield family and all their friends. Maggie is all grown up and having her first boyfriend, we follow the journey of parenting and teenager.
In the beginning, I thought that I would be a little confused while reading this book, because I had not read all of the previous recommended books. But I absolutely loved this short, well written book. There was a lot of laughter and love in it. It was so refreshing to see the growth of young love. Mega was an absolute God fearing, family man who still had some gangster left in him. I would definitely recommend reading this book.
I love this wrap up to Mega nem! I loved how we eased introductions into the younger generation! Mega with his Bible study group was so warming to the soul! We got to see a more mature side of Mega but don’t get it twisted, Mega is still Mega it’s just he has to let Megatron take the lead lol. I can’t wait to see Maggie, Kellie, the twins OMG all of them in the near future!
Mega and his family are always a time. It was entertaining to read about Mega not wanting his baby girl to grow up. Mega was tight 🤣🤣🤣. I wish we could gotten a Maggie & Travis POV but it was still good nonetheless! Mega and Ned had me laughing. I really enjoyed the word and knowledge a mega gave not only to his Real Men love the Lord group but also the teenagers. It’s definitely something everyone can get a lesson from! Thank you Mel Dau
This was too cute!! Mega and Ruth are gracefully letting their children grow up! It's comical to watch all the crazy, psycho parents, Megan's friends, watching thief kids grow up. This so good. I can't wait to see if Ms. Dau take us on the kid's iPhoto adulthood! I can already tell Maggie is going to be just as crazy as her dad! Can't wait to see what's next!!
I love Mega. He has grown over the years. I am glad we were able to catch up with the families and friends. We have watched them get married and have children it is a beautiful thing. Mel, thank you for catching us up. We love your pen game. Hopefully, we can get updates from time to time.
It’s always a good time and plenty of laughs when a story involves Megatron and crew and this one kept me laughing seeing how Mega was handling his daughter growing up. I’m looking forward to future books with the kids of this crew because it looks like it will be a time just like with their parents.
While the Mega and the crew is stepping back I’m sure there will be appearances here and there. The wrap up was sweet and very Mega and I’m glad Mel Dau gave is glimpse into the future while quietly closing the door on the past. There will always be room for Mega and the gang.
Mega is at it again. Not bodies were buried, no blood was shed. Big G has really touched Megatron Loric Manfield! Now, if Big G can touch Mega's heart and see to it that he can watch his little girl ease into womanhood... without her little boyfriend becoming a face on a milk carton. Hope there are more Mega stories in the future!
Mega struggling over his baby growing up. He and his friends. As usual, Ruth had to intervene but it doesn’t help he still on the same craziness! Let’s not leave out the rest of the crew. Miss Mel Dau thanks for catching us up and keep them coming!
This book had me laughing from the beginning to the end…Mega is still the same crazy god fearing man since the beginning of the Mega a friends series…All the young women and the young ladies in this book are going to give the men heart attacks with the way these young men are all googled eye about them…Hopefully they will come out alive 😂
Mega is still Mega! He and Ned are hilarious with the growth of their daughters. Having such respectful young men come into their lives made things a lot easier. These families are funny, yet strong. It's amazing how they all stick together with everything. Awesome read!
What wonderful bite-sized morsel of Mega. Whew, Mega was being his Mega self. He will have you laughing outloud with his shenanigans. The next-gen is growing up and the girl dads are struggling. The end was bittersweet as I knew it was farewell to Mega and dem.
When one of my favorite authors drops a book, I'm locked in. Not to mention it's about one of my favorite characters, a good time was had. This book had me laughing, swooning, & blushing with these characters that she's created. If she writes it, I'm reading it!!!
You can believe there will always be fun, laughter. Good praying to BIG G, and a happy place. I love mega and crew. All the love, loyalty, teaching, and raising respectful children is awesomr
