In a world where only women wield mana, Matt is an impossibility. An anomaly. A threat to the natural order.
When a single accidental burst of power saves his village, Matt’s life as an ordinary villager ends. Whisked away to the all-female Mystic Mage Academy, he’s a lone wolf in a den of high-stakes magic and otherworldly beauty.
But Matt isn’t just different because he’s a man.
While others push mana out, Matt consumes it. He’s a sponge. An amplifier who drinks in the elements and unleashes them with god-like devastation.
To survive the fire raging in his veins, he must forge unbreakable bonds with his classmates. Beautiful classmates like Amelia—a ravenous flame-wielder who craves the very heat Matt generates—and Chloe, a gorgeous socialite whose elegant manners can’t hide the desire in her eyes.
Between predatory professors, vicious monsters, and dark mages hungry for his power, everyone wants a piece of the man who shouldn't exist.
Especially when his power threatens to reshape the world.
I DNF this book after 30 pages. The premise just doesn't work for me.
The MC is a young man in some tiny village near the edge of livable space from the "boundary" or whatever they called it. He has little to no prospects outside of farm work or becoming a guard. But lo-and-behold, he's apparently the first male "mystic mage" in over a thousand years. And he's discovered by a wandering visitor to his tiny village, a woman of extreme beauty who just happens to be the headmistresses of the magical academy. Yeah, the headmistresses is wandering to some podunk village because that makes sense. He's going to get to go to this most prestigious academy, where he will be the only student that has a penis. This is setting up to be harem, super easy mode to the point that you might as well compare it to fishing with dynamite.
I've decided I really don't to read stories where the MC puts no effort into getting a harem, and all female academies are one of the worst culprits because I had to read about high school level stupidity on top of it.
I'm so tired of the stories that revolve around a convoluted plot device. Especially ones where the MC's skill.or.power is actually really weak but through the.use of dues ex and plot armor, the author tries to make it seem like a really strong skill/power. Secondly, the MC is a 18 year old with a mentality of a 13 year old. And finally, the story is really slow. At 50%, we are just beginning to learn what his power is and why he couldn't wield it.
Spoiler ahead
His power is to use other peoples power. Well, not even that. Its to absorb other peoples power make it stronger then give it back. In other words, he isn't the MC, he's the MCs side kick that buffs the real MC to make them stronger. He doesn't have his own power to fight his own battles. Someone else has to fight his battles for him while he just cheers them on while buffing them.
i took a chance on this book and it paid off well. Well paced and plenty of action. Characters could be fleshed out more but they're not just npcs. interesting magic system. good nookie. can't wait for the next book.
