Book one of NEPHILIM CODE series Nephilim walk among us. Descendants of Angels who just want to live their lives without humans knowing they exist. Some of them anyway. Then there are the ones who want to rule over us. Like in the days of old, they want to be considered our ‘gods’. My name is Nova Quinn. I’m a photographer…and human. Well, I was. Now I’m fighting for my life. I wasn’t supposed to survive, but I did. Caught in a world where ‘superhuman’ abilities are normal, it’s hard enough trying to get a grip on this new reality. But when the other side shows up and wants to use my genetics for their experiments, suddenly it’s no longer enough to know Nephilim exist – I have to be one. My name is Nova Quinn. And I’m the created Nephilim.

I absolutely loved this book!
Everything I could want in a story all in one package! Nova is your average girl and she comes across the new people in her building who are a little odd but nothing prepares her to catch one flying!
From that moment she knows her life will never be the same. She then goes for sine ice cream and then life goes from confusing to insane and she has to learn quickly who is friend or foe.
I love the pace of the story, I wasn't rushed through the story but I also didn't feel like I need to dig for references.
Nova is anextremely strong character and readers can pick up on her strength and humor from page one. She has a true sense of loyalty and I hope she works it out for the love she deserves! !
I can't wait to read book two!!!

*I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.*

I do have a thing for urban fantasy books with angels. So when this book came up for review, I raised my hand to read it. I’m glad I did.

Nova is a human. Or should I say was a human. Out of a chance of fate, she was changed into nephilim, a being of angel and human descent. With the help from Ben, Zeph, Ransom, and other nephilim, they are trying to help her figure out how and why she is changing. What she doesn’t know is that there is another group of nephilim, Ibira Corp, who wants to study her to find out why she was able to be changed. Now she’s in a struggle for her life and freedom.

The story has a little sci-fi twist with genetics. While I normally suspend reality in urban fantasy/paranormal stories, the genetics gave it plausibility to it. The story was action packed. Plus we have nephilim with abilities! No two abilities are alike. We meet some interesting characters. There are people who can cure illness, take pain away, freeze you, fly, and be able to control you with their voice. There are many more, both interesting and terrifying. It had an X-men vibe to it. Nova was a great character. She is strong, smart and sassy. She’s a fighter. While the book did have some romance in it, it was light side. Ben is swoon worthy guy. His abilities have caused him to distance himself from others. Nova does an incredible job acquiring his trust and being patient for him.

Overall, the book is solid. It’s a new take on the angel genre. The end has a little cliff hanger, and the version I read had a sneak peek of the next book, Nephilim Code- Edward. I couldn’t help myself and had to read it. I will be signing up for updates for this series as well as pre-order the next book when available.

First off.. I wasn't sure about this book. I'm usually not into the urban fantasy/supernatural like stuff. When I read that Nova was a photographer..that got me interested since I like photography as well. I was also interested in Nephilim since I love The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare.

So from the first couple pages I was hooked! It was a quick read since I couldn't put it down. I found it to be fast paced and I really enjoyed it. I loved the characters! Besides Nova I think my favorites were Ben & Zeph! Especially Ben! He just seemed like he needed a hug!

So heres the blurb:

I have to say I hated Julius at the beginning but he grew on me and I ended up liking him at the end.

I really enjoyed the whole book. It flowed really well and I loved the banter between Nova & Kate & Clancey, and Zeph & Ben.

I wish it was longer! I wanted to see more!

Great read!

Nova Quinn is a smart, sassy, fearless young woman with her eye constantly searching for the perfect shot to be photographed. One night on the roof of her apartment, minding her own business with her camera, she hears a disturbance and starts taking pictures. No way did she just see two men fly up into the air..What the heck just happened and why is her strange but handsome new neighbor one of them that disappeared like a shot into the night sky?

Ever curious Nova sets out to meet her new neighbors to get answers.. When a chance introduction with her roommate's new love interest makes her sick, only the new neighbors can help Nova deal with what is happening to her.

Zeph and Ben Angelis are brothers and Nephilim. Only other Nephilim can see each other's powers and abilities so why is it that Nova can see what they are? As in any society there are good and evil, having a human see what they are makes Nova dangerous and wanted. Her human side is dying and now they need to get to the bottom of what her new powers may be.

First off, we love stories involving Angels/Nephilim etc. Nova did not disappoint. There is a great combination of action, humor, intrigue, good vs evil and a wee bit of romance brewing through this easy to read and follow story. Nova is strong and fearless, Zeph and Ben (even Julius) are dreamy and they each deal with their powers differently. Every character we meet are well written and described without being overloaded with dialogue. We are super excited to continue this journey and pick up Book 2: Edward, when it is available. 4.5 Sighs

Nova lives a normal life as a photographer, until one night on the roof of her apartment she sees her new neighbor fly off into the night. Yup I said fly as in superman style. But after that things get even weirder for her when she gets an electric zap from a guy at the ice cream shop and all the sudden she seems to be getting powers. Oh and light seems to kill her eyes making sunglasses an absolute must these days.

Finding out your flying neighbor is really a nephilm and now she's suddenly turning into one is just the begining, when the guy who zapped her kidnaps her she has to figure out her strange abilities fast and then figure out how to save herself. Plus there the whole who to trust question.

Nova is strong, independent, and self assured. She's happy and content with her life even with her best friend trying to set her up on dates all the time. When everything changes for her she has her freakout moment but doesn't let her new circumstances get her down for long. She does what she needs to do to figure things out and continue on with life.

The characters in the story were interesting and the storyline itself keeps you interested and guessing at every turn. I enjoyed getting into this new world and am excited to see more of it!

Ask most kids what superhero power they would like to have and they are pretty quick to come up with an answer. What happens, though, when you find yourself with a strange new ability and your whole world is turned upside down? Nova finds this out first hand.

TP Hogan has once again woven together a brilliant fantasy story. Nova is a normal woman with normal aspirations and career goals, right up until she meets a Nephilim - a descendent of the Angels. Through circumstances beyond her control, she is 'infected' with the Nephilim gene and develops her own kind of superpower. While she struggles with the changes to her physical and emotional state, Nova finds out that there are other other Nephilim that are interested in her new abilities for less than noble purposes.

I'm a big fan of sci-fi and fantasy books and this story doesn't disappoint. I found the characters well developed and the story progression natural. Even the romantic aspects of the story were tastefully done and not overly erotic.

I fully recommend this book as a good read, especially if you like fantasy stories with just a hint of romance and the supernatural. I look forward to the next book in the series!

This is the first book I've read from this author and I wasn't disappointed.
It had me hooked from the get go and I soon found myself staring at the last page wishing that the author had accidentally included the second book in with the first.

It had characters that are likeable, relatable and real, baddies whose motives have not been made clear, and baddies who weren't all bad.
It had characters with substance, that need to be worked out and can't always be taken at face value.

The only thing that niggled at me is that there seemed to be an awful lot of men that forced kisses on Nova, it felt a little odd, but all in all it was a face paced and great read.

This book was a build up book so we don't find out what and why yet, but as a first book in the series it looks as if it promises to be a goodun.

I won't give you a summary, you can read the blurb for that, you probably already have, which is why you're now on reviews.

I was intrigued by the unique premise behind this novel, and swiftly drawn in to cleverly developed plot. Nova is a strong, intelligent female protagonist. Though she received significant support from friends, old and new, as she grappled with the debilitating effects of being the unwitting recipient of a genetic experiment, she never gave in to her circumstances and was smart enough to learn from them. The author has invested significant creativity into the details that flesh out the idea of experimentally modifying a human to become a Nephilim, which I felt really worked to create another dimension to the story. The first in a series, I couldn't wait to get into the next story once I'd finished reading this one.

Looooved it! I have such a love for YA Fantasy as a genre especially Nephilim. This was a fantastic first book in the series. I am excited to see where TP Hogan takes these characters.

Nova (awesome name) is a photographer living with her two roommates and going about her normal existence until a strange encounter sends her life into chaos. She was so sassy and awesome, I loved her.

I will collectively call them "the guys" due to the NO SPOILERS rule :) I loved the guys so much. They were so funny and sweet and caring towards her. Each one so interesting. I'm excited to see how each of their stories play out through the series.

Great storyline, action and suspense. I loved it.

This book captured my whole attention by the second page and I couldn't put it down.

The characters are fantastic. Nova 'was' human but has now been turned into a genetic experiment. As she enters into the world of Nephilim she realises she has an ability, as all Nephilim do, but no two abilities are the same.

Ben is super shy and adorable, but his ability causes him to withdraw from everyone except his brother Zeph.

Zeph is superhot and arrogant, but is still swoon-worthy. He does everything he can to protect his loved ones.

This book is unique and brilliantly written and I can't wait for more.

This book was really good. I just started reading stories about Nephilim, so the concept is still pretty new to me. I love reading this take on them.
So Nova was a regular human. Then she found out that her neighbor is a nephilim because she saw him flying. Now she is starting to develop these powers. It that wasnt bad enough, she is kidnapped to become a lab rat. They want to figure out how she came to be. Not because of the powers but because she somehow is becoming a nephilim.
Alot of mystery and just a great book. I loved Nova. She dealt with the situation better than I think most would have. This is a must read.

I just loved everything about this book! I was hooked from the very beginning.
The story was well written and I soon found myself at the last page, waiting for more. A story with relatable characters both the good and the bad, and a paranormal twist that was new fresh and exciting. Can't wait to read the next book by this author!

This story wasn't bad. Towards the end I was craving a little more, however. The book is about Nova who is injected with Nephilim DNA, turning her into the first successful human to become Nephilim, which are basically decedents of angels that have human DNA. The story was engaging enough that I wanted to read through it in one sitting. Towards the end though, I find myself impatient towards the outcome of what the story had been building up to. The characters are engaging enough, the main character is likeable, the quips in the book were put into place perfectly, that you would find yourself chuckling at it. It ends on a mini cliffhanger, but it's really not bad at all. The story moves at a good pace, though it amazed me how fast time went by in the book because you easily go over a couple of months. The cover of the book too made perfect sense once you got into the book because I had been questioning that. Overall it was a good engaging read, and it would perhaps create some loyal readers to the beginning of this series. I'm not sure that I liked it enough to then read about another character that I didn't care for in this book (because that's the sequel). It doesn't mean I won't read it eventually though.

Nova has to sort through truths and lies as she reassembles her world that was shattered by the revelation of nephilim existing. This book is the first in the series and takes the reader on the journey of how Nova becomes nephilim and the side she must take. A fun read for those who enjoy paranormal books. This felt like an introduction to several characters who will develop throughout the series. Looking forward to the second book.

more like 3 1/2 stars.

Interesting concept. I liked it a lot and can't wait to see where this series goes.

Could use a bit more editing and more clarifying in certain scenes (hence not 4 stars) but still a good read :)
