Dinosaur Erotica: The Omnibus

Rate this book
Three novels. Three dinosaurs. Sixty-five million years of unresolved tension.

She fell for a rancher's allosaurus on a sun-scorched summer afternoon. She signed a contract with a billionaire gorgosaur in a penthouse that smelled of leather and ancient musk. She strapped on a time belt and kissed her way through the Mesozoic.

Dinosaur Erotica: The Omnibus collects three complete novels by Lola Faust in a single revised edition:

Wet Hot Allosaurus Summer — A palaeontology student's summer internship at a remote ranch takes a passionate turn when she discovers the owner's secret: a living, breathing allosaurus with an intensity that transcends species and reason.

Fifty Shades of Gorgosaur — When Alessandra lands a job at the mysterious Tristan's corporation, she enters a world of luxury, power, and prehistoric desire. A merciless send-up of the billionaire romance — with a terrarium where the Red Room should be.

Triceratops and Bottoms — Erin, a woman from the twenty-second century, discovers that the deepest connections transcend not just convention but entire geological epochs. From a triceratops to a plesiosaur to a pterodactyl to a Carnotaurus on Christmas Eve — each encounter asks the same question: what happens when you look way, way back for love?

From an early age Lola Faust's fantasies and reveries tilted towards the unusual and the eccentric. Though she entertained curious private journals, it wasn't until she entered the Paleontology program at the University of British Columbia that her romantic notions concerning dinosaurs took full flight.

If you see this… no you absolutely did not.
Sometimes curiosity really is your worst enemy 😭

For those who don’t know, this book contains three short stories. (I’ll never recover from the first 😭 WHY JUST WHY 😭 BECAUSE WYM HE [spoilers removed] AND SHE LIKES IT????)

I went into this thinking it would be chaotic, unhinged fun… and it was LOL just not in the way I was prepared for. Like yes, there are plot twists, but also… I’m a baby and parts of this had me physically queasy. The spice is on another planet. Another timeline. Another species. 👀 😭😭😭😭

I can appreciate the commitment to the bit. I really can. But my brain is still trying to process what I read and my stomach would like a formal apology.

2⭐️. Points for sheer audacity, but I will be thinking about this against my will for the foreseeable future 😭😭 first dinosaur erotica and last

spice rating: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
swearing: yes

A million stars for premise, 3.5 stars for execution! Spice level is open door/plentiful. TW too many to list check author website.

I picked this collection of novellas up because there’s nothing I love more than a weird story. While it is off the beaten path it’s also exactly what it’s described as! If you’re simply curious about what this is, I’d say go for it. You probably will enjoy it more consumed in bite sized portions. I don’t think reading this cover to cover like I did helps the story.

Grammatically these are well written and don’t take themselves too seriously. Not only is one novella a 50 Shades satire but throughout multiple tropes a poked fun at. There was real skill in the way Faust juggled the humor but also fully embraced those same tropes.

My biggest complaint was the rising action felt uneven in all three stories. The stakes around each scene were the same and often the scenes didn’t feel terribly different from each other. For an author who makes some very bold creative choices others are pretty uninspired (example: title of the collection).

Thank you to Netgalley, BooksGoSocial and Lola Faust for this lovely ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Shoutout to Berry, Cole and Mysti for this buddy read!!

In the first novella Wet Hot Allosaurus Summer we get to see big al and tanis and i really liked them and seeing their dynamic together. The arm was an interesting point in the plot. i wish that we got to see more from big al, but sadly we didn't.

In the second novella Fifty Shades of Gorgosaur we meet alessandra and mr. black. it was a very faithful dinosaur version of fifty shades of grey. i also appreciated the new takes on the fifty shades aspect as well. the build up to mr.black and the reveal was done really nicely. i really disliked about this novella was the use of the line "her inner tigress". i also did not like the character of ms.hammond at all.

In the third and final novella Triceratops and Bottoms we get to see erin in the 22nd century which is a really interesting time to be in. The vr aspect was extremely weird to me. i didn't the aspect of her messing with the natural order of things and trying to right the wrongs. also her seeking out certain dinosaurs was just extremely weird to me. saving cera and calling it love at first sight is crazy. the plesiosaur was interesting and i'm glad that it was short. the pterodactyl and joining the mile high club was a good relation, but i think it could've been done better. I was most excited and intrigued by a carnotaurus for christmas. getting banned is crazy and insane to me. The supersaurus was also intriguing and was really short.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Sometimes I really shouldn’t let my curiosity win because that’s exactly how I ended up here. That, and the cursed “read now” button.

I honestly don’t know what to say other than: this was…a book I read.

I spent most of it laughing because it’s absurd, cringey, and feels like watching a car crash in slow motion—you can’t look away no matter how much you want to. In one of the three stories, the dinosaur eats the FMC’s arm, and I genuinely don’t know what I’m supposed to do with that information.

The second story was definitely the strongest of the bunch.

Beyond that, I’m not sure what else to add except: you will laugh, it’s completely unhinged, there’s far too much description of how “meaty” the dinosaurs’ breath smells, and you should prepare to question your life choices.

I both love and hate myself for reading this. I’ve never had such a strong, visceral reaction to a book. The author is either a genius or a madman. There is a very fine line. Three stars for the author’s creativity and my everlasting trauma.

Thank you for the edifying journey. I will not soon forget what transpired between these pages.

The Omnibus of novellas:
Wet Hot Allosaurus Summer
Fifty Shades of Gorgosaur
Triceratops and Bottoms

I didn't take it to seriously and because of that I enjoyed it. This book proved to be an incredibly fun read. The first novella particularly kept me guessing, as I was constantly wondering about the direction the story would take. It was filled with several hilarious twists and turns that really added to the fun.

I have to say that Fifty Shades of Gorgosaur absolutely had me in stitches, laughing out loud from beginning to end. I genuinely enjoyed all of the familiar tropes, but it was the sheer originality and outlandish ideas this author brings to the table that really made the book stand out.

Throughout all three stories, the author consistently presented so many unique and unexpected concepts that I couldn't have even imagined before reading. It was truly quite unique, although, to be completely honest, I haven't actually read any other books in this particular subgenre.

The overall writing was well-executed and polished. While the three stories shared certain similarities, notably in the way their climaxes unfolded and ended up feeling somewhat anticlimactic, this didn't detract from the overall quality or impact of the novella as a whole.

Thank you to Lola Faust, NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for a copy of this book for an honest review.

This omnibus contains three different books, all with somewhat of a Jurassic Spark (ha)

Wet Hot Allosaurus Summer
Fifty Shades of Gorgasaur
Triceratops and Bottoms.

This book is getting three stars simply for the absolute hilarity of the 'Fifty Shades' escapade that made me literally spit my drink out.

These books are mental. They're absurd, and tbh they're also incredibly cringey, but curiosity won out and here I am 300 odd pages of dinosaur Erotica later questioning my life choices.

Aaaand it's back to dino-erotica-land! This is a compilation of two of Faust's (short) novels and some short stories that comprise a third book. I've read the books contained within already, so I was largely in this to see what the introduction would look like. I sped through the books again to see if my memories held up (short answer: yes). I also pulled a quote from each of them, because really, what the actual (dinosaur) fuck, and if some of them are quotes I've pulled before...well, let's just say that some things are so horrifying that they just stick with you.

Wet Hot Allosaurus Summer: This falls so fully in the WTF category that it would be high up on my list of Faust's books to recommend if you want your brain really, really broken. Highs include traumatic amputation that the main character basically shrugs off (I want this to be a reflection of the American health care system, as I suppose the care Tanis gets is probably about on par with what health insurance would allow; unfortunately that part of things takes place in Canada) and a dino sex cult.

Choice quote: His scent was overpowering. His breath was salt and blood and heat, a glorious and primordial stink. (loc. 276*)

Fifty Shades of Gorgosaur: Fifty Shades parody, obviously. And honestly, all I can really say is thank god this book is nowhere near as long as the original trilogy.

Choice quote: A frothy, slimy mixture of dinosaur saliva and goat-gristle ran in rivulets down her breast and dripped from her nipple.
Why is this sexy? Why, in God's name, do I want this creature to ram me like a monster truck?
(loc. 1271)

Triceratops and Bottoms: This is basically a set of short stories about Erin, a woman in the future who is just so bored with the ease of her life that, when presented with a time machine (nobody else wants to use it, apparently), she uses it exclusively to run around the Jurassic era and have sex with dinosaurs.

Choice quote: She'd hoped to travel back in time to a crazy era, maybe have sex in the deep trenches of the WWI combatants. Dangerous, sure, but it would be worth it. Besides, she would be safe because she had the gadgets to protect her. (loc. 1764)

A bonus second choice quote: The ladies screamed delightfully and turned to each other, looking at the fluids dripping down their bodies. They kissed and smeared each other with the stuff, feeling the hotness of the moment. (loc. 2245)

Foreword: The foreword is short, and normally a foreword wouldn't even really rate a mention. But this is the only new material in the book, and it is oddly confusing. Dated March 2026, the foreword says Taken together, these three works represent the complete (for now) canon of my dinosaur erotica (loc. 11). But this is...categorically false, no? I have read my way determinedly, irrationally, against-my-better-judgement-ly through Faust's oeuvre, and there is quite a lot more on the list. What about Dino Stud, All I Want for Christmas Is Utahraptor, Dino Scores (which just came out in February), Don Juan Velociraptor, or the short stories that aren't in this collection? Obviously they don't have to be included in this omnibus, but it's very odd to have them written off entirely.

Best if read purely for entertainment purposes. If you are curious—and don't say you haven't been warned—this collection does give you more dino-bang for your buck...but, you know. Maybe read a single shorter work first to see if it gives you a laugh, or if you can stomach it.

Thanks to the author and publisher for providing a review copy through NetGalley.

The curiosity got the better of me, so please don't judge me. I think I should start a separate shelf for collecting the weirdest kinds of books my brain randomly thinks might be at least somewhat funny to read.

If, under any circumstances, you're considering reading The Dinosaur Erotica and are hesitant about what to expect (not that the title is or isn't clear enough), just read the triggers section in the preface of each novel; it will give you the shortest yet very precise description, both literal and not, of what to expect in a nicely well-defined list. All of those nouns standing side by side in just one sentence gave me a chuckle, that was, until I started reading.

The book is at the top of the second page (21st place) right now on NetGalley's most requested books and is a good fit for people who don't expect it to be historically accurate, have a high level of tolerance for how packed and absurdly twisted, aforementioned, usually sensitive topics can get, and look for a spicy, quick read.

Brace yourself for the writing rich in physicalisms, doubting decision-making right from the third page, heavy exaggerated dinosaur & human love relationships drama, unintended artificial intelligence (AI) jokes your brain will occasionally make as often as one of the main leads' name has been mentioned, characters behaving like it's The Sims 4 game with only one need bar, running dinosaur carriers 24/7, casual dead arms bitin' off, MC smarting herself out intending to play corncobs-distract-manuvre at nameless NPCs, and other shocking stuff.

Stopped reading halfway through because I expected it to be more on the comical side than suggestive, at least this is how the cover looked to me.

Thank you, BooksGoSocial, for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

Book Review: Dinosaur Erotica: The Omnibus by Lola Faust

I went into this fully aware of what it was, and somehow it still managed to be funnier than expected. This is not a book that asks anything of you intellectually. It’s chaotic, ridiculous, and completely committed to the bit. I laughed through all three novellas, not because the situations are subtle or clever, but because they’re so wildly over-the-top that you can’t really take any of it seriously.

Each story leans into a different flavor of absurdity. Wet Hot Allosaurus Summer has the most structure, with a bizarre attempt at emotional stakes layered over a human-dinosaur relationship. Fifty Shades of Gorgosaur is exactly what it sounds like, a straight-faced parody that somehow becomes funnier the more seriously it tries to play the power dynamics. Triceratops and Bottoms is the most chaotic, leaning into sci-fi and episodic encounters that feel like they exist purely to escalate the ridiculousness.

What really makes this work is the tone. The writing doesn’t wink quite as much as you’d expect. It commits. That’s where a lot of the humor comes from. Even the throwaway descriptions are unhinged in a way that sneaks up on you, like casually comparing a corn stalk to an uncircumcised penis and just moving on like that’s a normal observation. It’s that kind of book.

This isn’t something I’d recommend if you’re looking for actual romance, depth, or even consistent storytelling. But if you want something completely unserious that fully embraces how absurd it is, it delivers. I had a good time with it, mostly because it never pretends to be anything other than what it is.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC. This is my honest and unbiased review.

Out of pure fascination on how these stories would pan out, I decided to pick up a free ARC with this set of short stories. Let’s start at the beginning, shall we? The story hasn’t even began, when what do we see on the trigger list, but vegetables.🥬🥕🍆🌽

Wet Hot Allosaurus Summer
The first book has Tanis and Big Al on the run; away from her family, away from the dinosaur-human love farm, and away from some creepy men who captured them. I will definitely say that most of what I read, I wasn’t expecting, so there’s always a surprise element. There were some spelling errors, and some strange pet names. Not sure I would want to be called a “savory little tortilla” during the deed. If you want something strange and surprising this is the book for you!

Fifty Shades of Gorgosaur
Obviously, as titled above, a dinosaur play on “Fifty shades of Gray.” This was pretty much fifty shades but with more blood and an extra playmate, and not much BDSM. The plot wasn’t really plotting, as it went from everything being fine to the end of the world to everything becoming fine again in about 15 pages. There wasn’t as much development in this one as there was in the last story, which made it harder to stay committed to the bit. Everything just happened way too fast.

Triceratops and Bottoms
Some grammatical errors in this story. Erin saves Cera and his herd of triceratops from a T-Rex when she takes a trip through a time travel machine back to the Jurassic. When she mentioned that his (Cera’s) *thing* was prehistoric and wondered what it would feel like inside her, I doubled over laughing!

Also, just a heads up, this book is written in 3rd person!

Thank you Netgalley and Lola Foust for this ARC in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Wet hot Allosaurus summer: Overall, there’s a strange angle on immigration throughout this dinosaur romance book which is an odd choice to allude to and make no wider commentary on? The inclusion of the triggers does also read like the author is poking fun at the need for them which, again, odd choice.

In terms of both plot and character, it’s a farm girl running off with her dinosaur lover after knowing him for five seconds and letting him eat her shotgun damaged arm. There’s a commune, there’s a slaughterhouse, this would be best enjoyed being read aloud to a group of sightly drunk friends, it’s got that kind of vibe as a book.

Fifty shades of Gorgosaur - This story gets minor extra points for the inclusion of a hot secretary alongside the dinosaur millionaire philanthropist. How is he a millionaire? Don’t worry about it. There’s a deliberate sacrifice of any sort of explanation in favour of a variety of spicy scenes and this would probably be the story I would expect upon picking up the omnibus. There’s a rapid shuffle through common romance tropes (rich boss, sexual contract, jealous ex), but I wasn’t expecting anything more than received. The MFF angle was the only true surprise.

Triceratops and bottoms - I can accept the time travel, I can accept the time travel for the character’s gratification reasons. However.

Crucially, these dinosaurs are not sentient, they cannot communicate overtly, and there’s two additional mini stories that are incredibly similar to the first, just with the dinosaurs and minor details changed. It’s just not good.

Well… there is absolutely no false advertising here. What you see is exactly what you get: three novellas, three dinosaurs, and an alarming commitment to taking interspecies romance very seriously.

This omnibus is unhinged in the best possible way, equal parts cringe, chaos, and “why am I still reading this?” energy… except you are still reading, and somehow having a great time doing it.

Out of the three, I have to talk about the dinosaur take on Fifty Shades because it absolutely sent me. It’s a full-blown parody, and it knows it. I was laughing, sweating, and genuinely impressed by the sheer creativity. The terminology alone deserves recognition; love-flower, pleasure boat… I will never emotionally recover. And honestly? I will now be measuring things exclusively in “a pumpkin spice latte’s worth."

Is it ridiculous? Yes.
The Red Room? Gone. Replaced with a terrarium. And somehow that’s not even the wildest part.
Did I have a wildly entertaining time? Unfortunately… yes again.

If you go into this expecting high-brow literature, you will have a bad time. But if you lean into the absurdity and just let it happen… it’s weirdly iconic.

Thank you to the author and NetGalley for an eARC. All opinions are my own.

Curiousity might have actually killed the cat.
This was an insane read, I saw the title and could not stop my brain from reading it.
I am convince that anyone who voluntarily reads this is neurodivergent of some flavor.
If you’re going into this expecting subtlety… don’t, just don't do it.

I give 3.5 out of 5 stars.
Spice is hard to rate as its basically dinosaur porn and lots of it.

This book leans fully into its absurd, over-the-top premise and delivers exactly what it promise which is a campy, unapologetic, and wildly unconventional spice that will have you googling terms unless your 'tism leans towards dinosaur, mine does not.

What works is the author’s commitment to the bit as the entire 3 story omnibus collection is bold, weird, and oddly entertaining if you’re in on the joke. What doesn’t work is the lack of real plot or character development, which makes the omnibus feel like a novelty collection and not a story you can become invested in.

My final verdict is...Ya no probably don't read… but also kind of unforgettable if you’re in the mood for something completely unhinged. Which I usually am, maybe a pallet cleanser as I did laugh at some of absurdity...

I received a free copy of this publication for the purpose of review.

Ok, look. You get exactly what's on the tin with this, so you only have yourself to blame if this is too weird. This is all camp, all ridiculous, and it's really really funny. I pulled so many quotes from these to share with my book club group and I was just cackling the entire time. My personal favorite from novella 2:

God, the adults in her life always said, could do anything.

So why couldn't she have a billionaire dinosaur boss who wanted to fuck her and fly her around the world in luxury?

Fuck you, Pastor Joseph, My God can do anything.

I get this kind of humor isn't going to appeal to everyone, but it was absolutely worth the read for me. I would say this is fine to read on your own if you enjoy this style of campy erotica, but I would highly recommend doing a buddy ready or having a group of people to share bits and pieces of it with because it absolutely elevates the experience.

***Thank you NetGalley, the author & publisher for an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review. Unfortunately I must be harshly honest here, as always…

When this book popped up as an option to arc read I got excited because I’ve never read anything like this before. I figured it would either be incredibly funny or weirdly sexy. This book of short stories was absolutely TERRIBLE!!! The plots were ridiculous and awful, and the characters were too far-fetched and unbelievable in every way. The spice scenes made absolutely zero sense, and I couldn’t picture any of it. The author did a terrible job world building as well as character building. The character development was also just non-existent in all of these short stories. Not a single character learned something or grew in any way.

This was straight up dinosaur smut. If this is something you would be interested in, then kudos to you, friend. I need a little bit of world, a little bit of characters I like, and a little bit of plot in order to enjoy my stories. Reading this felt like a chore, and I’m having trouble getting back into reading after getting through this. If I could rate less than one star for one book in my lifetime, then this would be that book.

haven't even read ts but I heard of it and just KNOWWW its terrible. What are ppl writing these days?? Do they not realize that this is what gets them in mental institutions? You have a major in Eng Lit and choose to write ts? Are we DA rn??? How did you pass college for this? How did your editing crew feel about this? Are you proud of THIS??? This is just a no. Authors these days must be obsessed with s3xualizing dead things and animals bc its become so freaking normalized that NOBODY is pointing this out clearly!!! Like, I can understand if its a fantasy romance about a werewolf, vampire, demon, Prince, etc., but this is js below the belt. Do we really have low standards and are so lonely or desperate for romance that we need to write stuff like this? No, we don't.....And as a dinosaur lover and for anybody that's a paleontologist, we do NOT accept this. this is insanity at its finest.

Dinosaur Erotica: The Omnibus is a highly unconventional anthology that leans into bold parody and genre exaggeration to create something intentionally provocative and distinctive.

Each included story plays with familiar romance and power dynamics tropes, but reframes them through an absurd and unexpected prehistoric lens, giving the collection a clear satirical edge.

What makes the book notable is its commitment to concept-driven storytelling and its willingness to push genre boundaries for comedic and exploratory effect. It will likely appeal most to readers who enjoy parody fiction and unconventional romance experiments.

A niche but memorable anthology for readers who appreciate satire, genre mashups, and offbeat storytelling concepts.

Thank you to BooksGoSocial and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this title.

*To start, there are quite a few content warnings, so please consult the author's notes before reading.*

I grew up deifying John Waters and all of his creations, so I'm no stranger to camp. Even though I'm not a huge fan of romance stories, I liked this. It was not perfectly written, and certain plot lines were stronger than others, but it sure was a fun time. The encounters were consensual. The girls were respected. The girls respected each other. Aside from matters of taste, there's not much for me to criticize. These tales aren't winning the Pulitzer, but who cares? Sometimes things just have intrinsic value. If it's for you, it is and I'm glad it exists.

This book contains three books in one so let me start with that first one alright the one that had my mouth dropped to floor and slightly grossed out. This was my first Dino smut book and I read monster smut here and there so this one is out there. The writing felt a bit off and confusing sometimes but the spicy scenes had the spice even though my thought process throughout this was why? Just why? The book went downhill with the writing and story as it we got further in with the rest of the books . my first and last Dino book

Thankyou netgallery for the advance ebook copy of this book.
what have ijust finished reading??? so there are 3 different stories in this book. the first one felt a little boring but was an okay read felt cringy at times. the third one felt like an episode from Black Mirror but make it adult themed. however, the 2nd one???? "Fifty Shades of Gorgosaur" I AM QUESTIONING MY MORALS ON THAT BECAUSE OMG???? It was so hot. never knew i needed to read erotica till i met Mr. Black's assitant? i dont remember her name clearly. at first i thought it would be same as fifty shades since the start felt same but it was so fire.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ (2.5 stars, rounded up)

Thanks to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is a collection of three short stories that definitely do not take themselves too seriously. For books that are mostly spice, I was actually surprised by how much depth the stories managed to have in such a short amount of time.

That said, these stories are absolutely ridiculous—but in a fun, sexy way. They fully embrace the chaos and weirdness, which honestly made them more entertaining.

I’d definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a quick, playful read.

Lola Faust is one f my favorite unhinged authors. Her books are ridiculous, but also thought out at the same time? I think the book title tells us everything we need to know 😂

If you are looking for something that allows you to get silly and escape from reality then this omnibus is for you!

Omnibus includes:
Wet Hot Allosaurus
Fifty Shades of Gorgosaur
Triceratops and Bottoms

Very spicy, clever, and absolutely hilarious 😂

I went in expecting chaos. I got chaos, cackles, and… feelings??

Wet Hot Allosaurus Summer = dusty ranch + one very intense allosaurus. Fifty Shades of Gorgosaur = billionaire parody but make it Jurassic. Triceratops and Bottoms = time-travel situationship speedrun through the Mesozoic.

Lola Faust is unhinged in the best way. The prose is sharp, the satire bites, and somehow I ended up emotionally invested in a plesiosaur. My Kindle has seen things. My brain will never recover.

You can't be mad you picked this book to read when the title SAYS WHAT IT IS. It is ridiculous and over the top and it is exactly what it says it is. There are 3 short stories, and EXTENSIVE trigger warning lists. Either read it, or don't. Stay curious. Thank-you, BooksGoSocial, for this complimemtary copy. Opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

Sometimes it’s better to stay curious 🤣.
2 stars because do you know what, what creativity and insanity of an imagination the author must have to write this. I laughed, cringed, gasped, was horrified, traumatised, nearly sick and yet overall found it so absurdly hilarious. Definitely an acquired taste read
