Maple Brook
Book 1
First time reading anything by Mase Evan’s and let me tell you it won’t be the last.

The perfect fall vibes with the perfect fall town.
Mase has a way of pulling you in with her cozy writing.

Maple Brook is literally the perfect little town. I’m obsessed and would move there in a heartbeat.

Jax and Avery have this undeniable connection and chemistry. You can’t help but to root for them both together and separately.
I felt giddy right along with Avery. Her feelings for Jax were rooted so deep. I got butterflies with her too 😭 absolutely adorable.❤️

Childhood friends to lovers always gets me and this one definitely did. The emotion was sooo on point.
Huge thanks to Mase Evans for this arc.

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Until Forever by Maze Evans was such a cute, refreshing read! I really appreciated how realistic and genuinely flawed the characters felt. They weren’t perfect, and their choices and emotions felt believable, which made it easy to become invested in them.

The storyline moves pretty quickly, so this was an easy book to fly through. There’s zero spice, but it honestly didn’t need it—the sweet interactions, chemistry, and little moments between the characters carried the romance really well.

Overall, this was a light, feel-good read that I really enjoyed. And if there’s a sequel, I absolutely need it because I’m already invested in seeing where Liam and Rachel’s story goes!

♡ ARC REVIEW FROM BEYOND THE BOOKS ♡

Avery Bennett has had four years to get over Jax Anderson, the boy who broke her heart at eighteen. Four years to move on with her life and tell herself it’s all in the past. But all of that changes when Jax moves back into their small town of Maple Brook. Now living in the same apartment complex and running in the same social circles, they find it’s only a matter of time before their paths cross and both come to realise their old feelings aren’t as buried as they thought.

This was a really cute, easy autumnal read! It’s fairly short, and the story moves quickly, so it’s definitely one you could fly through in an afternoon if you wanted to. You can tell that the author wanted to capture the cosy, comforting feel of autumn in her writing, and I definitely think she achieves that—reading it feels like the book equivalent of catching up with an old friend over coffee: warm and familiar.

There’s a natural ease to the interactions between Jax and Avery; their banter doesn’t feel forced at all, and you can really believe there’s a history there. I will say that for a romance book, it’s quite light on the actual romantic content, as both characters spend the majority of the story quietly pining, but nonetheless, I thought there were more than enough sweet moments to have me buying into their chemistry.

Overall, I enjoyed my time in Maple Brook, and if you’re looking for a quick and cosy read this autumn, Then Until Forever definitely fits the bill.

Tropes 🍂 :
- Small town romance
- Second Chance
- Slow burn
- High school sweethearts
- “It’s always been you”

This is the perfect classic fall romance for lovers of The Notebook and other sad but heartwarming stories. I was truly immersed in this from start to finish, it had loveable characters, a rather predictable but fun plot, it was very well paced and the chemistry is sizzling on every page. The funniest thing or you could also say the saddest thing about this book is that Jax is honest with his feelings and knows he’s been hopelessly in love with Avery for years, but won’t go after he romantically again because he’s scared of hurting her. While Avery is in completely denial that she loves him and claims she’s over him, even though hes the reason she doesn’t like fall anymore…and when you find out why, it’s incredibly heartbreaking. Jax moved back after 4 years and just wants to be close to the love of his life even if she just wants to be friends and yes he made a stupid mistake but he’s so determined and adorable that I can’t help but love him. Avery is such a realistic character as well and her conflicting feelings showed that and is one my favourite things about her. Sometimes when the fmc is just ready to go all in again, I’m kind of suspicious but Avery takes her time to recognise her love again and when she’s sure, she does not hold back, even if it means her heart getting broken. This book had me so emotional and I was cheering them on the entire time. I loved both Avery and Jax and definitely recommend this. I give it a 4.5/5

Maple Brook Book 1
First time reading anything by Mase Evan’s and let it won’t be the last.

Maple Brook, a perfect fall town, exudes the quintessential fall vibes. I would move there in a heartbeat. Mase’s writing has a captivating way of drawing you into her cozy world.
The storyline progresses swiftly, making it an enjoyable and quick read. While there’s no explicit romance, the book effectively conveys the romance through the characters’ sweet interactions, chemistry, and subtle moments.

Avery and Jax, who had a tumultuous relationship years ago, found themselves drawn back together despite their past heartbreak. Their love, though deeply rooted, remained a constant, even as they struggled to convince themselves of their feelings.
I thoroughly enjoyed their backstory and the natural way the story unfolded. What I particularly appreciated was the absence of any villainous intentions. There was no animosity directed towards any character for their past mistakes at the age of 18. It was refreshing to witness the author’s realistic portrayal of the novel and its characters through their actions.

This was a sweet second chance romance, with no spice.

Avery and Jax were high school sweethearts who had been best friends for most of their childhoods, Jax breaks up with Avery several months before going off to college as he doesn’t feel they could make long distance work and Avery would not move with him, he hoped that they would be able to remain friends, this isn’t what happens.

Jax moves away to college and comes back to their hometown four years later and they try to be friends again, but will they ever be ‘just friends?’

Whilst they’re friendship is very cute and wholesome, I just didn’t connect on a deep level with their story it felt a bit to predictable and I felt irritated that it took 95% of the book for them to both realise they’re feelings for each other had never gone away, they’re was also a lack of romance in this book for me personally and that’s why I’ve rated it 3 stars.

*disclaimer: as this is a 3 star review I will not post my review anywhere else as that is unfair to the author considering the book has not yet released.

This was such a good book! We have small town, second chance, fake dating, and exes to lovers. I love this so much.. I am a sucker for second chance romances... this book really hit me in the heart. They dated in high school and he broke up with her when they were 18 and in the middle of their senior year thinking it would be easier when he went to college. long distance was just something he didn't really wanna do. he disappeared out of her life for 4 years before showing up at the coffee shop she works at and starts a conversation about wanting to be friends again after so much time. Things escalate from there... they're both blind to the fact that they both feel the same way about the other... this is a must read

4.5 stars. This was such a light, easy read. I very much enjoyed Avery and Jax the entire way through. Very slow burn, but the tension and buildup was well done. The key factors to make me love a romance. Not overly big on second chance romance but this one sealed the deal for me and I can’t wait to read more of this series and by this author.

I am completely, shamelessly biased here because I actually narrated the audiobook for this, but walking in Avery’s shoes (or rather, speaking her words aloud) was an absolute blast from the very first chapter. I’ve loved this author's work from chapter one, so going into Then Until Forever (Book 1), my expectations were already sky-high. Not only did it deliver, but getting to bring the story to life made me appreciate the writing on a whole different level.

What stood out to me immediately was the sheer voice of the main character. Avery’s sarcasm, her style, and the rapid-fire banter are brilliantly sharp. It’s the kind of witty, effortless back-and-forth that makes you want to keep listening or reading just to see what snappy comeback is coming next. You can tell the author put a lot of care into making her feel like a real, breathing person rather than just a trope vehicle.

As a romance novel, it hits that sweet spot of feeling genuinely grounded. A lot of the genre leans heavily into melodrama or insta-love that feels completely unmoored from reality, but this one kept pulling me in with how human the interactions felt. The internal monologues are messy, relatable, and deeply authentic to how we actually process our own insecurities and overthinking.

That realism extends beyond just the central romance, too. The navigation of family dynamics and friend groups struck a chord. It’s complicated, messy, comforting, and frustrating all at once, just like real life. Watching how these relationships shift and support one another added a layer of emotional weight that elevates the whole story past a standard contemporary romance.

If you're looking for a romance that balances laugh-out-loud humor with characters who actually feel like people you'd know in real life, this is an effortless recommendation. I can’t wait to dive into the next part of the journey.

Thank you so much to Mase Evans for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC! <3 I loved it soso much!!

Then Until Forever was such a cute second-chance romance. Avery and Jax were best friends before they became high school sweethearts, but Jax left for college four years ago and ended their relationship because he didn’t think a long-distance relationship at eighteen would work. Now he’s back in town, working at the local vet clinic, and of course Avery runs into him almost immediately. Because apparently the universe wanted to make her life as complicated as possible!! 😭

I really liked that their relationship wasn’t just about them being exes. They were best friends first, and you can really see how much Avery still misses that friendship even though she’s tried to move on. There’s also the fact that Jax never actually stopped loving her, which made their whole situation even more frustrating because WHY DID YOU LEAVE HER THEN 😭 Like I just thought, for like... half the book? 'dude... YOU MISSED YOUR SHOT', but then obviously he got her back.

I also loved watching them slowly become friends again instead of immediately jumping back into a relationship. The fake-dating-for-a-wedding situation obviously made things a lot more complicated, especially when all those old feelings started coming back, and I really liked seeing them realize that what they had never actually went away. Long story short, READ THIS BOOK

Thank you to the author for the opportunity for an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was such a cute quick read that's perfect for readers who love a spice free, second chance romance, fall vibes, friends to lovers, yearning, and a close friend group. As I read this book it took be back to my early 20's - hanging out with friends, bar nights, parties, hangovers, and just being silly and fun with your friends.

Jax and Avery were both very likable characters. The second chance worked so well in this book, because the break up wasn't nasty or due to anything hurtful. Instead, it came from a place of not wanting to losing your best friend. I think it was totally realistic for an 18 year old to be afraid of a long-distance relationship. It was also very on brand for 18 year olds to not communicate their feelings well.

The reunion was totally realistic especially in a small town where you share a friend group. It was so obvious to the reader and friend group that they were still in love with each other - but Jax and Avery were so in their heads they didn't see it. That's another micro-trope I love... two characters being totally unaware of the other person being in love with them. It was refreshing to see them get their friendship back and then the pay off of the HEA at the end.

I loved the friend group and now want everyone's stories. Rachel and Liam I'm looking at you.

Then Until Forever is a cute, charming story about second chances and a cat named Sir Fluffington, whom I would have loved to see a lot more of!

This small-town romance follows Jax and Avery, high-school sweethearts who never really got over each other. The story centres around them deciding to be “just friends” again, when it’s painfully obvious to just about everyone except them that they’re still in love.

The storyline is cute and endearing, and I really enjoyed the friendship between Jax and Avery. Although, there were definitely moments when I wanted to scream at them to JUST TALK TO EACH OTHER! 😂 but watching these two dance around their feelings added plenty of humour to the story.

Their friendship groups bring even more charm and laughs, and I’m definitely curious to see what happens between Liam and Rachel if there’s a second book.

I would have really preferred a LOT more Sir Fluffington, especially since he was the main reason I signed up for this ARC. I was promised cat content and I want my cat content! 😂

Overall, Then Until Forever is a cute and charming second-chance romance with likeable characters, plenty of friendship and small-town warmth. Just... please give Sir Fluffington the page time he deserves. 😂

🎃 Friends to Lovers
🍂 Slow Burn
🎃 He Falls First
🍂 A cat named Sir Fluffington
🎃 "It's always been you"

As my first read by author Mase Evans I had such a fun and enjoyable experience falling for Jax and Avery's love story! I really enjoyed this second-chance love story and it serves a a great reminder that we should never wait to tell others we love them and it is never too late!

Avery is Jax calm space and reminds him that he is not alone. The way she helps him through visiting his parents for the holidays with no judgement is just what Jax needs. I also have to mention that I enjoy Avery's knack for graphic design as a designer myself. We cannot fail to mention Sir Fluffington who could totally get their own novella, star of the show material!

Thank you again to Mase Evans for a lovely read and I cant wait for everyone to enjoy it on October 6, 2026! 🍂

Sometime over the summer, I spotted a book recommendation on the Beyond the Books PR Instagram, and I quickly signed up to be an advance reader. ❤ Just recently, I received an email letting me know I’m part of the team! 🥳 A huge thank you for the opportunity! *-*

This was such a cute and heartwarming story!❤️

I really love small town stories where the main characters go from enemies to lovers or friends to lovers. This book featured the latter, and I was rooting so hard for the two of them to find their way back to each other!

Let’s face it, that’s no easy task—given how they parted ways, I didn't see much hope for anything happening. But their feelings are so genuine that they can’t fool themselves for long—and certainly not their friends!

It’s just the icing on the cake that it’s autumn right now, just like in the book, so the whole experience completely enchanted me!

Oh, and then there’s Sir Fluffington, the cat!!! Isn't he just the cutest thing?

I rated this book: ★★★★★

Review of ARC received from the author.

This book wrapped me up in all the cozy, small‑town feels I crave in the fall. Maple Brook book one hit every emotional note and left me wishing I already had book two waiting on my nightstand.

Avery and Jax’s second‑chance story picks up four years after their high‑school breakup, with both of them trying to rebuild the friendship they lost before college pulled them apart, or so they thought. Jax is back home navigating complicated family dynamics and starting "his" chosen dream career working with animals, while Avery is juggling her job, shifts at the coffee shop, and planning her brother’s wedding. They may be in different places now, but some feelings clearly never faded—they’ve only just begun to grow deeper.

The tight‑knit friend group, the charming town, the everyday moments… Mase Evans made me feel like I was right there with them. I wanted to sip a hot chocolate at Maple Mornings, snuggle with Sir Fluffington, and belt out karaoke on a Tuesday night with this crew. Cozy, fun, and full of heart—this story was everything.

Oh I loved this book so much, my early thoughts were loving every minute of it, it's like an autumn hug in a book and after finishing the story I can honestly say I did love every minute, I loved how I just fell into the storyline and how easy it was to connect to both Avery and Jax.
I loved their back story and how naturally it all played out, I especially loved how no one was the bad guy, there wasn't any hate on either character for what their 18 yourselves did in the past. It was refreshing to see how realistic the author made this novel and the characters with their actions.
Mase Evans is a new to me author but I'll definitely looking out for more stories from her. I loved her writing style, it was easy to get into, easy to connect and get swept away with. The ending of the novel went where I expected and I was definitely rooting for that. I've got to say this is one satisfying fall read, it's got everything I want from a second chance small town romance!

When the first line is “I hate fall”, I knew it was because of a boy 👻

They were once best friends and high school sweethearts. Then he ghosted her at 18, only to return a few years later still in love with her. She has spent those 4 years convincing herself she’s over him. But both are determined to go back to being “just friends”.

This is a cute second-chance story filled with a lot of pining and serious lack of communication ~ but perfectly accurate to their age and maturity level. I love a good yearning and while I didn’t totally buy into their chemistry, it definitely brought me right back into the feels of those awkward young adult years!

Would love to read Liam and Rachel’s story next! There’s definitely something brewing there!

Thank you to Mase Evans for the opportunity to read this ARC ~ releasing October 6th! 🍂

Hi everyone!
First, I should mention that this is the first book in the Maple Brook series.
The story centers on Avery and Jax, who had a relationship years ago that ended abruptly and unhappily. Yet, no matter how much they try to fool themselves, they never stopped loving each other deeply.
As for the plot, it is strong and has depth, with a narrative flow that is smooth, fast-paced, and emotionally charged.
I won't say much about the author's writing style, as anyone who has read her work already knows more or less what to expect. For those who haven't read her books yet: run and get them! You’ll be enchanted, captivated, and thrilled; you’ll find your breath taken away and enjoy every single word, paragraph, and chapter...

Many thanks to the author and Beyond The Books PR for the eARC!

This book gave me what I’ve been looking for all year. This has to be my best read of the year so far, for sure.

The book is set in a small town where two childhood lovers meet again, and the MMC tries to win her over all over again. This was such a sweet read and captured the yearning so beautifully that I got completely glued to the book and didn’t want it to end.

The MMC went so far away to pursue his studies that the FMC thought she had lost him, but he eventually came back to find her, love her, and be with her. The side characters are also so supportive.

This is my first read by this author, and I’m definitely adding her to my favorite authors list.

Highly recommended if you like childhood lovers, yearning, second chances, close proximity, and cute, fluffy romance.

I was blushing the whole time because there are just so many cute moments.

Thank you so much Mase Evans for giving me an ARC of your book!

I really enjoyed this cute and cozy book! There was a lot of will they, won't they and miscommunication running through the book but it makes sense in the context of their relationship and how it ended. I loved the banter between Jax and Avery and with their friends as well and it had me giggling a lot in places!
I would have loved a longer epilogue or end chapter to see where their relationship had ended up but if there is a second book, I'm sure it will be featured in there as well as Liam and Rachel's relationship as I neeeeeddddd to know what is going on between them two!

This was an extremely cozy, sweet fall romance. I loved the fall vibes, second chance romance, and character development.

Then Until Forever had the perfect combination of romance tropes. We had absolute yearning from both the FMC and MMC, miscommunication, and a second chance love that you cant help but root for.

I enjoyed the small town feel that Evans created and I definitely want to come back and spend more time with these characters. I'm a sucker for found family and this book was the definition of that trope. I look forward to seeing more of how this series evolves.

Cute second chance love story.
I won’t lie, I had a hard time getting into this during the first few chapters. It picked up when the characters started to reconnect and it ended up being a sweet story.
What I liked : solid friend group, family dynamics (though I wish we had a little more background of why his parents were so disappointed in his choices), the characters’ protectiveness over each other, and the fact that he wasn’t a player during their time apart
What I didn’t love : lack of communication about how they were feeling made the characters feel pretty immature (miscommunication is my least favorite trope)

Received this as an ARC copy and boy oh boy am I glad I signed up for it!
Even though I called Jax a moron prolly 27times, and had an exasperated sigh in every chapter....the last 30% had me clutching my "pumpkin spice latte".
Beautiful beautiful plot, perfectly paced had me jumping to next page as quick as possible (i mean obviously considering i finished reading this in one sitting!)
There were some moments or rather....places in the book that seemed a little flat but that was more on editing than the story plot.
100% enjoyed the whole experience
Def recommend picking it up, especially as a palate cleanser!!
