My warmest greetings to you, the reader. If your eyes are roaming through the lines of this page, then I understand that you have invested a bit of your time, curiosity and money to gain possession of this book. I acknowledge that you and I share a passion for the expressive power of poetry. And it is that passion, that emotion that has connected us over distance, race, tribe, nationality, gender and possibly… time. The poems you will read are expressions of self, soul and heart, inspired by my experiences in life and love over the last decade. I like to think of it as my first decade into manhood or adulthood as it were. There were many times I thought I must be the only one going through some of the things I went through. In retrospect, it is rather comforting to know that I was not. So it is with that knowledge, that I hope and believe that you my dearest reader, will connect with something you find in here. If this stirs something in your soul. If it wakes you up or puts you to sleep. If it answers a burning question or ignites a flurry of inquisition. If this book, makes you feel, then my ultimate goal has been achieved. So, that being said, thank you for starting the journey of The First Decenary with me. It is my hope that I will see you when the next one comes around, wherever or whenever we may be at that time. Happy reading… Kelechi
