Take Agatha Christie, Danganronpa, and Battle Royale, mix them in a pot, and you get this neat bit of nasty. Definitely of a piece with its forebear, Doubt, Vol. 1, with the masks, twists, and shifting of blame and guilt, it does feel like a slight step down, a bit of a retread. Then again, I did read them back to back, so that may be on me. Regardless, this is good, recommended for fans of both manga and locked-room mysteries.

A bit of a limp finish. I wasn't convinced by the motivation for the "Judge' game, I don't believe the perps could actually have achieved all that by themselves and I wasn't convinced by the perps themselves!
However, I have always appreciated Tonogai's wild abandonment when it comes to slaughtering his characters after revealing what bastards they all are.
I thought Doubt was much better and had a more interesting twist at the end. Saying all that, I'll probably end up reading Secret. Why? No idea, but theres something oddly compelling about this guys story-telling and his obsession with animal hats is just the best. His action drawings are utter rubbish though; he cannot portray movement to save his life, so all his characters look like funny robots when running down passageways etc.

I loved the entire story and had to control myself to not finish it in a day, but the ending left me a bit frustrated?
I expected something more elaborated, maybe hoped the whole sins thing would play a part; the first characters were kind of innocent and I was hoping for a build up that would lead to having all of them involved somehow, yet those ones were just.. collateral damage.
However this is the first series I read from this author and it was still good enough to make me want to read Doubt and Secret next.

I'm giving this an extra star for how audacious the twist ending was, then taking it away for the fact that it doesn't make any sense. I know Japanese mysteries don't play fair and all, but this is taking it to absurd levels. The perpetrator's identity doesn't match anything we saw him do earlier in the series -- how could he know he wouldn't have been killed far before his plan came to fruition? This is worse than Palpatine's plot in The Phantom Menace.

3.5 - Interesting until the ending. I didn't entirely see the twist, but I am not sure I like entirely how it was handled either.

Como cierre de la obra está bien. Hay puntos que no me terminan de convencer. Pero cuando descubres quien es el que lo idea, porque y el plan para que nadie lo descubra, es muy interesante.
En este caso el final no hecha por tierra toda la obra. De principio a fin está esa tensión de que puede pasar.

Tämän sarjan parhautta on osa 6. Se oli tiivis, jännä ja piti otteessaan loppuun asti. Muutenkin sarja oli sinänsä ok, mutta esim. osassa 4 tuntui kuin juonta vain venytettiin. Pieni tiivistäminen olisi tehnyt poikaa, sillä silloin tiivis tunnelma olisi kantanut paremmin. Tosin itse tarina on varsin ahdistava ja hirveä, mutta mangana sen kestää paremmin.

Mi piace troppo questo mangaka ma su una scala di piacere ho preferito Doubt a Judge. Lascio 5☆ comunque.

Pierwsza manga, po którą sięgnęłam. Fabuła jest absurdalna, a zakończenie jeszcze bardziej, ale... chyba taki był zamysł i muszę przyznać, że mi się podobało. Całość czytało się płynnie i z zainteresowaniem. Lekka i przyjemna rozrywka, bez głębszych refleksji. Najsłabszym elementem były dla mnie postacie i ich motywacje – jednowymiarowe i schematyczne – choć w pewnym sensie pasowały do konwencji. Wizualnie jest poprawnie, ale w moim odczuciu nie wyróżnia się niczym szczególnym.

Wow what an ending, one that I genuinely didn’t see coming. This was a great series that I’m glad that I decided to keep up with. Great story-telling and synchronicity. Excited to get started on Secret & the new series that’s coming out soon!

Une bonne série de manga avec une bonne intrigue en huis clos, des morts, un jugement des péchés. Le twist final est bon et l'ensemble des 6 tomes nous tient en haleine. C'est une bonne lecture, angoissante parfois. Scénario bien mené, le lecteur est toujours surpris.

This volume felt like the movie "You're Next" but less gruesome. I liked what the author was trying to do here, finding out that the main character and the girl he liked were responsible for the whole thing was kind of a shock, but I don't know, I feel like it just all fell apart in this final volume. I can say that I am glad the fox girl lived, she was one of my favorites.

This twist at the end was ridiculous. Lol. Choppy art style, too many awkward close ups, the faces did not match the action in the scene, clunky statue-like characters and confusing and claustrophobic panel layout made this a hard read. Not one of my favourites.

Mmm.... I really didn't feel this ending. Even after re-reading, I kind of see how it could work, but there's a lot in the other volumes that makes this feel forced. Ah, well.

the moment the mc and well,, the girl hikari revealed their scheme and their bat shit concept of 'judge', i was severely dissapointed. like, i already saw it coming! how it unraveled was dissapointing as well, and although MC was at least good at acting nice, it's so lame how the whole plan was revealed in the end? maybe it's because of the length of the manga itself? would have loved to see more of how they come up with the scheme, how they drugged all these people and brought them, only the two of them bringing around 18 people on one building, and how they got the mask ideas ... how their mind work when the whole plan finally takes place ... and so on.
the concept of seven deadly sins and the use of trippy masks was smart, but the characters weren't even using it for the most part of the story!! it would've been more creepy if the characters stayed anonymous throughout the story, with their mask on. the ones in the next room, though, why were they all wearing suits? and why did they all wear masks while in judgement? and the locks, too, what was up with that? why is it different from the MC's side? was it a large hint that even if they both have the same reason to kill these people, in the end, hikari's motive and revenge was different from MC and he would later be bertrayed by her? (I knew it would happen tho, so again, very predictable)
overall, apart from the cool concepts and the 'reality' of the plot besides the phycopathic MC and heroine (do i even call her that?), it was just very edgy and trippy, but other than that, a bit of a letdown.

While you could have in fact gotten it much more intresting game with focusing also to the ones that mattered; team 2 and have them experiences down too. Overall the kids's group was the one that didn't even really matter as main targets were their parents and also one who actually had it coming since volume 1 and it kinda lingered there. But hey.. gotta have the plotarmor on no matter what.
Yes, through the all 5 previous volumes there had been team/group 2 in similar setting at the other part of the building dying one ather another depending who team 1 votes to die. They are handled as prop to be taken out at the seconth last volume.
Compared to Doubt this was graphicly and storywise really not that great. There had been ingridients to maket it much better but why it wasn't better, i really don't know. Editor's or author's choices? Animal masks symbolic wasn't deeper than on volume 1 and referring to characters as animal names. Sin concept wasn't really that well thought or used over either other than three obvious characters. Neither it wasn't much explained why did the two culprits invented this game, was it related to Doubt or other stories. Missed an opportunity to link stories together there big time over. As well as have some characters talk about the rumors.
I can now be at peace though that there was a time when I thought that I had missed out something good while not getting this into my shelf. Ended up loaning this and yea, I had not missed nothing grand. In a way I do feel bit bummed though for wasting few hours reading these through though.

I'm not a huge fan of this series. Again, the problems I had with the first five volumes (boring art, predictable story, bland characters) run rampant here, and I'm not sure that's all forgivable, since art and character and story are really why I'm here.
This volume did have a few excellent twists that I will admit I didn't see coming, some of which were planted way back in volume one. It also answered quite a few questions, though it also left some things open to interpretation. One thing that really bugged me was the whole "seven deadly sins" angle, which almost happened but not really. While there is an explanation for the game and the "sins" of the players, it has nothing to do with the seven deadly sins. Still, I will admit that I found the conclusion pretty satisfying.
Overall, I liked this better than doubt. I'm sure there are more creative, interesting, creepy manga series out there. (Horror Mansion comes to mind, although it's quite old.) But if you're bored, this will probably provide a brief distraction.

Any nut job who would do something so screwed up must be someone who's harbouring a grudge against the nine of us who were in there.
9 strangers, each with a deadly sin in their past, are kidnapped and locked in an old courthouse to face their judgement. Every 12 hours they must vote for one of them to be judged.
This final volume sees the remaining players joined by a family member, also kidnapped and forced to watch their loved ones Judge each other. Suddenly the final 4 are a final 8 and they are ordered to fight to the death.
Who will survive? Will the addition of their family and friends help reveal the secrets behind the judgement? Can Hiro save everyone or are his efforts destined to fail?
This is seriously good and completely gripping. What a finale! 5 stars.
