This is the last book in the series in Pinecraft and it was just a delightful read. I like how the author spun all of the characters from the previous books into this story with several sub-plots. And I am so happy for Beverly and Eric, after treading carefully through their feelings. All of the sub-plots have happy endings, a really feel good book.

A Christmas Bride in Pinecraft, the fourth and final book in the Amish Brides of Pinecraft series is my favorite SSG book to date. The storyline was wonderful and was one I could personally relate to. In addition to Beverly's story, we get caught up with the lives of the other characters from the series.

When the Orange Blossom Inn is broken into Beverly naturally turns to its owner, Eric. Eric drops everything and goes to Florida to not only see to the inn but to make sure Beverly is ok. Upon his arrival, he finds that Beverly is a mess. Her sense of security is gone and she is a bundle of nerves. A conversation between the two uncovers information about Eric's past that Beverly isn't sure how or if she can deal with it. I love how Shelley Shepard Gray wrote of Beverly's struggle with the information. Having been in a similar situation, I thought the feelings Beverly experienced were genuine and authentic.

I also liked the blossoming friendship between Josiah Yoder and Effie Kauffman. Their friendship was sweet and I would love to read more about thse characters in the future (hint, hint Shelley!). These two were my favorite "couple" in the entire series.

This book will naturally be a hit with fans of Amish fiction. I think people who love romance books or just good, clean books with a great story will enjoy this book as well. Don't be mislead by the title though as this book would be a great read any time of the year, not just at Christmas. The story may take place at Christmas, but the message is good year 'round.

I was given a free copy of this book for my honest opinion which I have given.

This was a sweet Christmas story. I have really enjoyed this series of books and I was very happy to finally be able to read Beverly and Eric's story. Some of Beverly's uncertainty and fear throughout the first portion of the novel was frustrating to me and I wanted to her to bounce back faster than she did. However, it did cement the fact that she came from a very different background than Eric and was quite naive about many things. I enjoyed Effie and Josiah's storyline a lot. It was fun to reconnect with quite a few characters from previous novels. This was an uplifting and fun Christmas book to read.

This was a sweet Christmas story. I'm so glad that Beverly and Eric finally had a chance for a romantic relationship. Eric's past was interesting and sad. Also, it was nice to follow up on Effie and Josiah. I felt bad for him, too. I was happy that each character was given a happy ending.

"A Christmas Bride in Pinecraft" by Shelly Shephard Gray

My Thoughts....

"A Christmas Bride in Pinecraft was a beautifully well written enchanting Amish/Mennonite romance. I found this novel somewhat interesting because as I was reading I found out that this was three stories in one that seemed to tie altogether. I loved how this author presents us with Beverly who manages the Orange Blossom Inn in Pinecraft, Florida and their has been a robbery where now she must call Eric the owner and tell him of this situation. It seems like since Eric had met Beverly some time ago he had feelings for her, so he leaves Pennsylvania and moves to Pinecraft Will this bring him closer to Beverly? What secrets did Eric have than may destroy any feelings Beverly may have for him? Will these two people be able to find common ground and love? But where there is 'forgiveness, mercy, happiness and good will to all men' will there be any good from all of the unexpected obstacles that are put in front of them? Well, this is a Christmas novel so what will happen after the robbery at the inn? Be ready for a read that will give you humor, tears and even finding yourself cheering your favorite character on as you will see 'such fear, faith, love. devotion, redemption and second chances' that is displayed in this well told story. The main questions.... Will Beverly be able to face her fears and move on after the robbery? Beverly has gone to a lots and when it looks like she may even love again will her faith be put to the test? How will this Amish community react to a marriage between Beverly and Eric? Now, to get all of those questions answered and much more you will just have to pick up this fantastic Christmas novel to see just how much it will capture and warm your heart.

What I extremely liked about this novel was how this author was able to bring out the realization of how there were young people going hungry in the town of Pinecraft and that solution to the person who had robbed and vandalized Beverly property was also wonderfully presented.

I received a copy through NOR in exchange for an honest review.

I have been WAITING for Beverly’s story ever since book one! While I’ve enjoyed each of the characters in every book so far, Beverly has always been my favorite. The words Shelley Shepard Gray uses to begin the series with Beverly are referenced again as the last words in the series and tied it all up so beautifully! If I really must say goodbye to Pinecraft and Beverly and the Orange Blossom Inn, this is exactly how I wanted to do so.

But not only have I been waiting for Beverly’s story, I’ve been waiting to read Eric’s part in it as well. I knew he would be involved somehow – and I knew how I wanted that to turn out – but I didn’t know if the author and I were on the same page. After all, Mattie’s story in A Wish on Gardenia Street didn’t go at all like I expected but it did end up much better than it would have if I’d been in charge so I did know this – however Shelley Gray chose to weave Eric’s and Beverly’s stories together, it would be beautiful.

And it was.

Beyond Beverly and Eric, most of the characters from previous books pop in to say hello even if only briefly. We’re able to catch up on their lives since last we saw them, and we come away from our encounter with the feeling that their lives will continue on even though the series is ending.

The themes in A Christmas Bride in Pinecraft will touch your heart as much as the characters do… maybe because the themes and some of our most beloved characters are intertwined. Forgiveness, redemption and second chances share the page with abuse, neglect, and secret pasts. And as she always does, Shelley Gray pens each word with such heart and grace that you can know the difficult stuff is treated just as gently and honestly as the warm fuzzies.

Bottom Line: If we have to say goodbye to the Amish Brides of Pinecraft, I can think of no better send-off. A riveting plot, beloved characters, and warm prose bring back everything that’s dear about the series for one final hug. If you like Amish fiction (and even if you don’t), A Christmas Bride in Pinecraft needs to move to the top of your TBR pile!

There has been a break in at the Orange Blossom Inn! Things like that never happen in peaceful Pinecraft! Not only was the Inn a wreck but Beverly was too. That a robbery could and did happen took away her sense of security. She was angry and also afraid, a feeling she wasn’t used to.

This is the last book in the Pinecraft series and I’m sad to see the series end. I so enjoyed sharing in the lives of our Pinecraft friends and I will miss them. We’ve shared in their sadness and joy. We’ve made new friends. We’ve come together to help others… even looking for their pets. We’ve celebrated at weddings.

This time we watch Beverly deal with her fears and Eric try to bring her a sense of calm again. We see an unusual friendship blossom between young Josiah Yoder, whose mother died and whose father leaves him and his older brother Peter alone and hungry for days at a time, and young Effie Hilty who we met in A Wedding at Orange Blossom Inn.

The loss of the material things at the Inn can be fixed. Things can be replaced. Will Beverly ever be the same again? Will she always be afraid the robber(s) might return? What of Christmas? Has Christmas been ruined because of the robbery? What happens to the Yoder boys? They can’t continue to live in a house with no food. Whose wedding are we celebrating in this final book?

You’ll want to pick up this well written book by New York Times and USA best-selling author Shelley Shepard Gray to find out! You won’t be disappointed!

Thank you Shelley for another wonderful read!!

It is always a joy to review a book by Shelley Shepard Gray. Her Amish-themed books are always sweet and inspirational, and I have especially enjoyed Shelley's "Amish Brides of Pinecraft" series.

Shelley bring that series to an end with her latest book, "A Christmas Bride In Pinecraft." This time the story revolves around Beverly, the manager of the beloved Orange Blossom Inn in Pinecraft, Florida and Eric, the inn's owner. Romance is in the stars for Beverly and Eric, but a tragic incident threatens to derail that special love when the inn is broken into. As the duo put the inn back to right, the mystery of who did the deed taints Beverly and Eric's relationship as secrets surface and feeling are hurt. But the story resolves with a positive outcome and perhaps a happily-ever-after!

Shelley wraps up this series with updates on the previous couples whose romances were followed in the first books, and gives her main character a mystery to solve and a romance to brighten her life. I love the inspirational message Shelley includes in her stories, and really, really love the delicious recipes she always includes in her books. This book was truly a sweet treat to enjoy and really sparks the Christmas spirit as well.

Fans of Amish-related/Mennonite-related stories will adore this book and I highly recommend all the books in this series, as well as Shelley's other series!

A CHRISTMAS BRIDE IN PINECRAFT is the end of Ms. Gray's Pinecraft series. I enjoyed each of the books in this collection. In this finale, Ms. Beverly's inn is robbed and she's a basket case. She calls the owner of the inn (Eric) and he comes to her rescue, as does the community at large.

It was easy enough to figure out who robbed Ms. Beverly and even why, so this isn't a suspense. It is really a very gentle, slow moving romance, that is focused more on the inn and on Ms. Beverly's feelings about being robbed.

I did find myself skimming most of the book, but that might been due to the emotional place I found myself in more than the writing. I'm not sure.

Fans of Mennonite and Amish fiction might want to read A CHRISTMAS BRIDE IN PINECRAFT.

I bought a copy of this very-well-used at a garage sale (will not show up as a verified buyer on Amazon) and all opinions are my own.

A break-in at Orange Blossom Inn??? What a sad state of affairs. Emotions run rampant as Beverly tries to come to terms with what has happened to her beloved inn. Her prayers and leaning on God are most evident as the story proceeds. Beverly discovers how much she can lean on Eric and also how the city of Pinecraft loves her. Will the inn continue??? Will Beverly survive??? I experienced many ups and downs reading this ever so lovely final book in the series. Again, relationships are developed as well as characters. My heart has so very much loved being in Pinecraft. I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

An emotionally charged Christmas story that can be enjoyed any time of the year. I loved the story of forgiveness and mercy that was woven throughout the book. This was well written. A Christmas bride in Pinecraft is the fourth book in the series. It can stand alone but will be enjoyed more if the series is read in the correct order. I hate to see this series end. I loved all the characters and felt like I was right there in Pinecraft. I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I listened to this book on audio, and it was enjoyable! While somewhat predictable, it included a heartwarming, slow-developing romance and a large cast of minor characters who play into the burglary that starts the story rolling. Nice message emphasizing the importance of empathy and forgiveness.

I appreciate reading the occasional Amish book that portrays real people with real problems, not isolated farmers living idyllic lives.

A Christmas Bride in Pinecraft by Shelley Shepard Gray
An Amish Brides Novel (The Pinecraft Brides)
Beloved bestselling author Shelley Shepard Gray concludes her Amish Brides of Pinecraft series with a story of forgiveness and trusting your heart...just in time for Christmas.
When Beverly Overholt’s beloved Orange Blossom Inn is broken into, she’s shaken to her core. After all, the inn has been her whole life since her fiancé left her for her best friend. In the face of repairing what’s been lost, Beverly calls Eric Wagler, the inn’s handsome owner. To her surprise, he promises to be on the next flight out to Sarasota. Beverly’s been closed off to love for years, but with Eric, she can’t help seeing a glimmer of hope—even if they’re from different worlds.
From the moment Eric met Beverly, he’s tried to fight his attraction to her. Though now Mennonite, Beverly was raised Amish, but Eric grew up in Philadelphia and got into his fair share of trouble as a young man. Though he’s worked to overcome his earlier mistakes, with Beverly’s security scare, Eric’s sure she’s not going to want anything more to do with him. And considering how he might just want a future with her…that’s a tough pill to swallow.
But as Beverly and Eric put the inn back together, prepare for Christmas, and even witness a new love blossoming for another couple, the trust…and love…between them grows. Will Christmas bring a second chance at love for Beverly? And if it does, will she be brave enough to take it?
This is Beverly Overholt and Eric Wagler's story.
Beverly Overholt froze in shock the moment she turned the corner onto her street and spotted a group of flashing red and blue lights in front of her inn. She blinked, sure that her eyes were deceiving her. Surely she was simply imagining that the lights were located right in front of the Orange Blossom Inn! Perhaps they were merely the reflection of one of her neighbors’ Christmas lights? Some neighbors had strung lights over every tree and shrub in their front yard.
Then reality set in. The lights weren’t Christmas decorations. They were coming from the three police cars parked at the curb.
Immediately, instinctually, Beverly started praying.
The prayers continued as she started forward on the sidewalk, asking the Lord to give her the strength to handle whatever had just happened to the lovely three-story Victorian house that was not only her place of business, but her home, too. And although those prayers were undoubtedly giving her some strength, one thing was becoming very apparent: Even the Lord’s help wasn’t going to make Beverly calm, cool, or collected.
“Oh, gut,” he murmured. “Officer Roberts, this here is Beverly Overholt. She owns the inn.”
“Runs,” Beverly corrected absently.
Now she knew that Eric Wagler was the actual owner.
It’s going to be all right, Beverly,” Eric said into the phone for at least the fourth time in fifteen minutes. When he heard no immediate reply, he walked to his window, stared out at the gray Philadelphia sky, and explained himself. Again. “I know this is a shock, but you’ll get through it,” he said gently. “What matters is that you weren’t hurt.” He closed his eyes as he imagined how much worse things could have been for her. He wasn’t sure how he would have handled it if she’d been calling from the hospital.
“But . . . but, Eric, it’s terrible. It’s so terrible,” Beverly sputtered. Her voice had a definite Pennsylvania Dutch accent, a sure sign that she was extremely distressed.
He had to get there as soon as possible.
He ached to comfort her and wished he were sitting across the kitchen table from her so he could see her pretty green eyes and ascertain just how flustered she was.
Instead, he was reduced to sitting in his office with a phone to his ear, trying to do his best to reassure her.
Outside, Eric noticed that snow had started to fall, adding to the seven inches that had accumulated the evening before. He wandered back to his desk and clicked on his laptop. Hopefully flights weren’t grounded. He needed to get on one headed south and fast. “I know, dear. But—”
I recommend reading.
A Christmas Bride in Pinecraft by Shelley Shepard Gray is a wonderful well written 5 star book.
I am looking forward to reading more books by Shelley Shepard Gray.

A Christmas Bride in Pinecraft is the last book in this series. I love visiting Pinecraft, as I live only a couple hours away. Pinecraft is a quaint, cozy, very friendly small community.

** You do not need to read the previous books to thoroughly enjoy this Christmas story. **

The main character Beverly is the manager of a small bed n breakfast, she thought she inherited from her aunt In an unexpected twist she found out Englisher Eric actually owned it.

This is the fourth and last book and I love the way the author managed to give loyal readers a glimpse into the lives of so many beloved characters from past books. Including young Effie, an Amish junior high student with special challenges and her own story thread.

The story begins with a break in, which is very rare in this very quiet, small, tight knit community.
Beverly is tormented by the break in and finding it hard to follow her Amish upbringing and be forgiving toward the robber. How will she finally come to terms with the damage and turmoil of the robbery???

Soon after Eric the bed n breakfast owner returns to Pinecraft to deal with the robbery, he develops feelings for Beverly. Will Beverly accept his checkered past?

As the story unfolds the community and friends work to solve the mystery of who robbed the Orange Blossom Bed n Breakfast. Was it a a prank, was it a group of people? Will they come back again?

The story also shares Christmas memories and growth in Christmas Faith from both an Englisher and Amish perspective. How do they each celebrate the holiday? How do they decorate differently?

Effie the special needs character learns a classmate and friend is living in a dangerous home situation with his younger brother. She has a hard time figuring out if she should tell her family or protect the private conversations between her and her friend. Will Effie break her bond with her friend and reveal to her parents what is happening to her friend and his brother? How will Effie help her friend?

As the story continues the plot thickens as various community members and law enforcement piece together facts of the robbery. Also various members of the community become concerned for the student Effie is trying to help. How will this story end????

Will Eric and Beverly true love??? Will the classmate and is brother get help????

You will not be able to put this book down, as you read this heartwarming Christmas Story!!!

In my limited reading of novels concerning the Amish, this one is different. If it weren’t for the Pennsylvania Dutch phrases scattered throughout, there would be not much evidence that it takes places among the Amish. It was difficult to keep track of who is Amish, who is formerly Amish, who is Mennonite and who is English. The cover shows a girl who appears to be in Amish attire, but the title female character is only formerly Amish. Yet the series is called Amish Brides of Pinecraft. Now that’s confusing.

Josiah is a school-aged boy of the early teenaged years. The author repeatedly tells us that he is the most popular boy in the school. If she didn’t tell us, this wouldn’t be clear. There is not enough interaction on his part with students besides Effie for us to see his popularity. The reader likes to be shown these things, not repeatedly told.

The O.E.D. cites ‘most’ in the sense ‘almost’ or ‘nearly’ as dialectical and U.S. But it still sounds informal to me. On one page in the book the author, in the narrative, uses ‘most’ in this since three times, without any substitution for variance. On the same page, ‘most’ is used in its more formal sense, meaning ‘just about all.’

Another phrase that seemed informal to me for the narrated portion of the novel was “he was friends with.” It just seems awkward, and it appears several times. I’d have preferred “the two of them were friends” or “she was a friend of his” or something suchlike.

The story is good, with perhaps more characters introduced than necessary. I haven’t read any of the other books of the series, nor have I read any other books by this bestselling author. I guess by calling the title character an Amish bride, the author was stating that since she was raised Amish and her parents were still Amish, she hadn’t yet lost many of her Amish traits.

Shelley Shepard Gray writes Inspirational fiction. Her stories are about “regular, likable people in extraordinary situations”. I have read a handful of her books over the past few years and I like her uncomplicated style of writing. A Christmas Bride in Pinecraft is the concluding novel in Gray’s Amish Brides of Pinecraft series, which also includes a novella.

Englisher Eric Wagler owns the Orange Blossom Inn, in Pinecraft, Florida, that Beverly Overholt runs. Over the course of the series, Beverly and Eric have had a rocky working relationship that has progressed into friendship. Now it seems to be blossoming into something more with Eric's return to Pinecraft. That is until he tells Beverly something that pushes her trust in him to the test. Also, young Effie Kaufmann finds an unlikely friendship at school in popular Josiah Yoder who hides his problems. Continued storylines of characters from other books in the series are also interwoven into the book, which I always look forward to reading. All the characters have to make a choice to get involved and maybe risk rejection while helping someone. Or they have to risk trusting and possibly getting hurt.

I enjoyed this story. It is a quick and light read. I have not read the whole series so I do not know the full story of the Orange Blossom Inn and Eric and Beverly’s involvement in it. I would like to read all of the previous books to find out more. I think fans of Amish Fiction and sweet romances will like this book.

Beverly Overholt runs the Orange Blossom Inn in Pinecraft, Florida. In every book of this series, Beverly's love for the inn and serving her guests is apparent. In this book, her beloved inn is broken into and money stolen. Afraid and feeling violated, Beverly turns to Eric, the new owner of the inn, for advice on what to do. Eric flies down from Philly the next day to be with Beverly and to help with the cleanup. He wants to reopen the inn as soon as possible because of all the Christmas holiday bookings, but Beverly wants to put it off until after the holidays. Beverly's ability to trust was broken when her former fiance broke off their engagement to marry her best friend. Although that happened years ago, Beverly still can't bring herself to take chances - in life or in love. But Eric's wisdom in dealing with the mess at the inn, his willingness to help the police find the culprit, and his kindness in "being there" for Beverly are causing her to question the walls she's lived behind for too long.

This is a wonderful story about taking chances, letting go, and forgiving those who've hurt us.

I love this final story. . . and how Shelley completes the series in such a productive, satisfying way. Oh yeah, I was over-the-top by the end!

Thank you, Shelley!

In The Promise of Palm Grove, you met Beverly Overholt, who runs the inn, and receives some disturbing news from Eric Wagler. In the sequel, The Proposal at Siesta Key, Beverly hears from Eric again, as well as several other unexpected guests. In this final story, A Christmas Bride in Pinecraft, Beverly has trouble adjusting to being at the inn after a break-in. Will Eric be able to convince her to stay? I think Shelley handled everything perfectly, bringing everyone together at the end.

Don’t miss this amazing series!

God bless you!

This is the final book in the series, which did an excellent job of closure for the reader. In all of the books, there was a bit of a tease of a relationship between Mennonite Orange Blossom Innkeeper, Beverly, and Englisher, Eric. This last book was primarily their story. But once again you meet the wonderful characters found in past books, in a beautiful setting with a delightful plot. The author is a very fine storyteller, and I was very pleased that I chose to read this series, one book after the other. I recommend this author and her books to anyone who enjoys Amish or Christian fiction. I’ve read a few series of hers, amounting to a number of her books, and have enjoyed all of them.

I listened to this while crocheting and exercising and believe me I found extra excuses to do both so I could find out what was going to happen with Beverly. I have only read one other of this series and enjoyed it also. I will have to look back and see what I missed as I see there were four and this is the last.
I was a little worried when the book started off so sad that I just couldn't see us getting to a Christmas Bride in time.
I like how there are main characters and the supporting characters have their own story line but they are so closely tied to the main characters that it really feels as if you are visiting with friends and catching up on everybody.

You can't go wrong w/ a Shelley Shepard Gray book. Apparently part of a series, Amish Brides of Pinecraft, but easily a standalone read. Sweet romance set in Florida. A robbery at the inn Beverly manages throws her for a loop but when the owner arrives, he is able to bring sense to the destruction. And in the end, a second chance at love. Lots going on in the story, teenagers, children in need, foster home, friends, healing relationships. Tavia Gilbert does an enjoyable job narrating the book. I listened to a library copy of the audiobook and wasn't required to write a review.

The main character, Beverley, was wonderful to get to know. I enjoyed seeing the romance between her and Eric progress. I loved the secondary characters. I loved learning about the town this book was set in and it really made me want to visit it. I also loved learning about the traditions and all the delicious food descriptions from what Beverley made sounded so yummy! This book was well written and definitely kept my attention.

This was the perfect conclusion to the Amish Brides of Pinecraft series! This book wraps up the other three, but also has some unexpected twists and turns that pull your heart strings in ways you never imagined. This book gives you a new mindset of what kindness, love, and compassion really are when God is the center of your life. Thank you, Mrs Gray for sharing your God given talent so beautifully. Bless you!

The final book in the Pinecraft series.

A gentle book with a few serious overtones. Continues the story of Beverly manager of the Orange Blossom Inn and its owner Eric. Will they find love?

When the Inn is broken into, a chain of events unfold leading to the discovery of Peter and Josiah's dire home circumstances.

This was enjoyable reading, but nothing spectacular. It was about Amish People that had drifted away from it somewhat. Beverly is the manager of an Inn. Someone breaks in and leaves her a nervous wreck. Eric the owner of the inn who has been living in Philadelphia flies to Florida where the inn is located.
It helps her to have Eric near and of course a romance blossoms.

I just came off some heavier books, and wanted a palate cleanser. This truly was. I gave it 2 stars because I found myself saying, seriously, a lot! I didn't get many of the Christmas feels. I feel like a book that has Christmas in the title should give you a whole lot more Christmas. But, still entertaining, and by the end I had been cleansed.

Beverly runs the Orange Blossom Inn in Sarasota, Florida. Coming home from a shopping trip, she is shocked to see police cars I front of her business & more so to find her in had been broken into. Beverly is a Mennonite and scared senseless. She calls Eric, who owns the inn & he immediately flies to Florida to be with her & help. A delightful read; recipe for cookies included!
