Bexla Blythe has a prophecy to fulfill, a barrier to break, and no intention of surrendering to the gods who want her caught.

The magic dividing the realms is the next thread in a prophecy woven through the Blythe bloodline. To fulfill her fate, Bexla must uncover the power holding the realms apart and destroy it before the gods of Gilyx can tighten their control over them all.

But Alaric Wolfe is never far behind.

The captain has orders to turn Bexla over to the gods, and he is determined to see them through. Every time she thinks she has outrun him, he is waiting in the shadows—dangerous, unreadable, and far too interested in the woman he is supposed to deliver to the gods.

As old enemies close in and the truth behind the prophecy begins to unravel, Bexla will have to decide how much she is willing to sacrifice to free the realms.

Especially when the one man hunting her has already decided her fate is his to take.

5⭐️
3.5🌶️

I think at this point, I would read Shay’s grocery list and 5⭐️ that if she published it 🤣

Thank you Shay as always for letting me be a part of your permanent arc team!

Alaric has officially cemented himself as my #1 MMC in the Shay-universe (and that is saying A LOT bc I love every man she writes)!

Alaric is hunting Bexla, but he’s not necessarily in a rush for it to end. In an ultimate game of cat and mouse, Alaric and Bexla always seem to be one step in front of the other in this perpetual cycle of who is outwitting who.

Alaric needs to turn Bexla over to the Gods of Gilyx to ascend into his own godhood. Nothing will stop him from achieving his goal, even if it means betraying the one person he’s obsessed with.

Bexla has a destiny to fulfill, but her mother’s clues seem to never lead her any closer to her goal. And the wolf with the orange glowing eyes always seem to be watching her, and she doesn’t want him to look away.

We get some fun cameos from all our favorite characters from Secrets & Curses and the Fourth Born series 🖤🖤🖤

The spice 🌶️ once again is top notch and Shay only gets better and better at writing spice as she’s released all these series. Alaric is possessive and just down right insatiable 🥵🥵🥵 omg 🥵🥵🥵

The PLOT TWIST PEOPLE!!! I flat out messaged Shay telling her she is a witch because there’s no way how she makes ALL of these storylines flow and interconnect the way she does! She got me! And I don’t get got a lot 🤣 I am SO excited for book 3 and where we’re going with the Gods of Gilyx! You better watch out!

Books 3&4 are coming out rapid release, 11/4 & 12/2 so you won’t have to wait long! ❤️

If I thought I liked A Fate Hunted, then I absolutely loved A Fate Taken. I read this entire book in about six hours because it was so easy to get lost in.

Bexly and Alaric continue what I can only describe as an absolutely destructive situationship while Bexly pushes forward with fulfilling her part of her mother’s prophecy. This book gives us so much more backstory, and all those tiny pieces from the first book start clicking into place in ways I was not prepared for.

I dont do spoilers, but Chapters 20 and 21?! I was sitting there in complete disbelief.

This series definitely delivers on the touch-her-and-die trope, but calling Bexly and Alaric simply “enemies to lovers” doesn’t even cover it anymore. It’s more like enemies to lovers to enemies… and then who the hell knows where we’re going from there. The book constantly keeps you guessing which side of that line everything, and everyone, is going to land on.

In my opinion, A Fate Taken also had a little more spice than A Fate Hunted, but it never felt forced or thrown in just for the sake of it. It fit naturally with the relationships and the progression of the story.

The confusion, heartbreak, betrayal, and emotional whiplash Bexly goes through are written so well that it’s incredibly easy to get pulled into her head and feel like you’re experiencing everything right alongside her.

If you love fantasy, magic, gods with stolen power, wolf shifters, enemies-to-lovers, chaos, touch-her-and-die energy, complicated relationships, betrayal, prophecy, and a plot that keeps you guessing until the very end, you need to read this series.

Hands down recommend. I liked the first book, but this one completely hooked me.

Wow. Just wow.

I lost myself in this book I just couldn't put it down. I was already addicted to Bexla and Alaric's journey. Do I hate them, do I love them.

So many questions, the journey, the lies, the manipulation. All for one goal. But what is the true goal. I will not give spoilers but I will say, this book answers the questions from A Fate Hunted. This book takes, makes you question, hurts you and gives you in all the best ways.

It is emotional and a journey and I just had to sit after finishing it because, just, wow, what a ride.

Coming from a Fate Hunted we knew Alaric was a master planner, he's smart and driven but the lengths and patience to it all is devotionally clear in this book and we get to see that Bexla is a long game player in her own right too.

Honestly I started this book and just disappeared in the world, I couldn't have stopped, I needed to see this journey and I couldn't put it down until I had.

This series is emotional, it's kick ass, it brings all your emotions to the characters which I always find a fantastic read when an author can make you feel so strongly from the characters on the pages and their actions.

Just like this entire world and every book of Shay's it only leaves you wanting more while taking you alongside the roller coaster. Always the world, the characters, the plot, the intricacies are outstanding and so well written, this is why I love reading.

I was extremely fortunate to be an Arc reader for this series but as always all thoughts and opinions are my own.

I mean, book one was amazing but this book - book two - was simply EPIC.

I literally did not want to put it down and I absolutely did not want it to end.

"A Fate Taken" is the second book in Shay Taylor’s Gods of Gilyx series and we continue to follow Bexla Blythe as she fights to fulfil the prophecy she has known about all of her life.

But as she attempts to meet her fate, there stands Alaric Wolfe - always chasing, always watching and always fighting, wanting to create a fate of his own.

Honestly, you really need to read this series.

The epic world-building and character development we saw in book one is here again but if anything, these are even better.

And the spice…well, the spice is spicing!

Bexla and Alaric though...

- the connection
- the tension
- the bond
- the manipulation
- the dynamic

...between the two of them is just something else.

I actually cried at the intensity of it all - especially when you can literally feel Bexla’s heart break as that metal clicks and in the pages that follow it...

Shay’s writing makes the emotions so incredibly real that I felt every moment right alongside her.

And then THAT plot twist…

I’ll admit I had hoped it would happen, but the way it happened - and the way certain characters got exactly what they deserved - yes, it was totally amazing.

This series will 100% be getting a re-read at some point.
I’m definitely not ready to part with these characters just yet…

…and thank goodness book three is on the horizon...

This is - without a doubt - one of my favourite reads of 2026.

Thank you Shay. Thank you.

Review from an advanced reader copy

I was really looking forward to this book and I will say I wasn’t disappointed. I didn’t really know what to expect. I will say this book does sort of give you more whiplash because Alaric is giving mixed signals a lot and you are constantly second guessing how he feels because he does one thing that has you thinking he is in love with the Bexla, and another where he just treats her as a sex object. I will say that some authors I’ve read often times switch between characters that way you can sort of know what one character is thinking in that same interaction, but that doesn’t happen here and I honestly like it. I will say that I think she really does a good job of showing the internal battle Alaric is facing without outright stating it. I think she shows it enough and doesn’t overdo it which I’m really thankful for. Some authors do it too much and it just makes it hard to read and often times, can cause people to not finish the book, but this book kept me engaged and kept me wanting to read more. I do love the story line and I do love the answers she revealed towards the middle/end of the book, it answered some of the questions I had. Can’t wait to read the next one! Would recommend reading for sure!

I don't even know where to begin.... Book 1 "A Fate Hunted" instantly took me back to high school but also gave me the smut satisfaction that I enjoy especially in Fantasy Novels.

Bexla (FMC) is on a journey of her fate to destroy the Gods of Gilyx. This is her absolute destiny, but Alaric keeps getting in the way... Making her fall in love with him then disregarding her... Let's talk about some whip lash.

Bexla has a fated mate... Which the plot twist from book one to book two about her fated mate, let's just say I silent screamed (as my baby was sleeping). I had to walk away and take a deep breath... The realization that this entire time....

God's, I was dieing!! But Bexla did get what she truly wanted in the end when completing her date and it was HOTTTTTTT.

This book is such a draw, you won't be able to put it down. You will literally melt into the pages of this fantasy world and nothing else will catch you attention. I read this within hours because I just couldn't stop! Can not wait for Book 3!!!!!

I think this has to be one of the best books I’ve read recently!

The plot line was a masterpiece of interwoven connections, some spanning multiple series with a few favourite cameos thrown into the mix.

The angst was OFF THE CHARTS. This continuing push and pull between Bexla and Alaric was enthralling to read. He’d do something to goad her, she’d come back twice as crazy in retaliation - and their crazy is crazy! Their chemistry was hawt, hawt, hawt. This isn’t a sweet and simple Romantasy, it’s dark, it’s twisted, it’s oh so dirty, I loved it! Bex is one bad*** chick, she doesn’t need anyone to save her because she is simply the best. Alaric always seems to be just one step ahead of her, despite her best efforts. It was thrilling to read their entanglements, if there ever was a pair who complemented each other quite so epically it is these two.

I know that I’m always going to enjoy Shay’s books and I was super excited when the ARC popped into my inbox. This needs to be read, you won’t be disappointed!

Anything author Shay Taylor writes is gold! I mean this book had me staying up all night that I had to FORCE myself to sleep because of responsibilities. The second book in the Gods of Gilyx Series did not disappoint. The angst and plot twists are hitting you everywhere all at once!

Bexla’s badassness and power grow even more in book two than they did in book one.

What I really enjoyed about Bexla’s character was that she never disappointed. Usually, authors will write female characters who show a softer side once they “fall in love” and start making decisions that don’t necessarily benefit them. Half the time, I’m mentally screaming at them to **DO SOMETHING RECKLESS.**

Bexla bows to no one, and in this second book, she never loses herself. She remains unapologetically badass, powerful, and completely true to who she is—and I loved that about her.

Thank you, Shay, for having me as part of your ARC team. I’m so happy to have crossed paths with this author because she helped me fall in love with reading again, especially when it comes to stories about strong-ass women. 🖤

ARC Review

I literally received this arc a few hours ago. I could not put this book down for the life of me. Shay’s books sink their claws into your soul. The emotion, the depth, the storyline literally everything about her books makes you want more more more.
To see Bexla go through so much in this story had me screaming, crying and laughing. She is one depraved woman, but she is tough as nails. I love her f*ck off attitude and take crap from no one attitude. Watching her grow in this book as a person had me drawn in. I also loved getting more of a backstory of Alaric and his role in the story. His role had me gasping. You will not want to miss this one. I loved that we got to see more of Ezra, Luther and Ares as well. Alaric’s obsession with Bexla was literally magic. This book will leaving you aching for the next book and I already know it will not disappoint!

A Fate Taken
Author: Shay Taylor
Genre: Dark Romantasy
5 stars
What it has: Magic, Gods, interconnected with other books, returning characters, yearning, betrayal, revenge, secrets, ongoing storyline with a new couple, emotional rollercoaster.

My take: Shay absolutely has me wrapped around her finger with Bexla and Alaric.
Without spoilers- Shay had me cursing at the back and forth and tension, gasping at the betrayal, laughing at the revemge. Then, crying, only to end up laughing again and then crying again. This is NO LIE. She pulls my little strings like a puppet master. The characters and the secrets are so complex and the universe she has created has you falling in love with new and old characters with every book she releases. I can not recommend the Gods of Gilyx enough!!

ARC review- I read book 1 and thought it was really good but this book was even better thank you Shay for the opportunity to read this ARC I don’t know what you put in this book but all I can say is wow I think this is more a 6⭐️ rating I loved it.
The character development was amazing and the tension in this book was on point it really was, I even had a bit of a tear because the tension just got me.
The twists in the book was brilliant.
It was brilliantly and cleverly written so you didn’t know whether something was a betrayal or not or if something was true or not I am going to have to read all your books as I think you might be on of my favourite authors from now on.
I cannot wait for book 3 I’m so excited for it now.

Heart pounding excitement!! Wow..just wow 🤯
Book 2 Gods of Gilyx has left me speechless…staring at the wall, contemplating existence. Why you ask? Because you will NOT be prepared for the heart pounding twists in this book. A Fate Taken picks up right where A Fate Hunted ends, right in the middle of deliciously savage chaos. The world building is still absolutely insane and has you right there beside Bex and all her unhinged, sassy, sexy fates. If you love fated mates, a hunted FMC by a deranged wolf shifter, obsession, touch her and die x10000, mixed with karma’s a bitch…this is a must read! You will not be able to put it down! Just when you think you have it figured out..you don’t. 5 stars for Gods of Gilyx and Shay Taylor!

I devoured this book! I liked it even more than the first one.

We get to know Bexla and Alaric—and their pasts—better. I really liked how everything is interconnected and the various plot twists. Both of them planned things out, but the ultimate "planner" of them all is her mother. I really enjoyed their romance. It reminded me of the Della and Haden book, with all the twists and schemes.

I can say that, once again, I loved the story and am eager to see how it unfolds. I love Ezra, and I admit I’m really looking forward to reading the next book and getting to know Farris’s character better; she’s been a mystery up until now. I felt a lot of compassion for her character by the end of this book.

Next book, here I come!

HEA for these two tricksters
Book 2 of these duet for Bexla and Alaric picks up again with Alaric chasing Bexla. The dynamic of these two is very interesting since Alaric is so hot and cold and Bexla never knows which way is up with how he feels. I do feel a bit bad for her. The book itself was pretty well paced, even though I was just ready to get to the good stuff, there were some things they had to learn along the way before we could get to the final battle with Rolph. And boy there were some reveals that were AMAZING. I love that the author kept us guessing, even with the clues along the way. Great read, definitely recommend and so excited for the next book in the series.

I swear whatever magic has in her brain is so powerful. I would write anything she writes. The way ALL OF her stories have slowly evolved and had tiny little bits of information from the very first series is so masterful and just I can’t say enough how special this whole universe she’s created is. I highly recommend starting from the very beginning when reading her books so starting off with secrets and curses of exile. THIS BOOK WAS SO STEAMY! And it wasn’t even that much on the page spice it was mostly the antici…..pation 😈

This book was as captivating as book one. The suspense build up from book one carried perfectly throughout this book. The way both Bex and Alaric were altering fate to meet their goals included plot twists that were heartbreaking, and the pain experienced by Bex felt very real. Alaric becoming a god and bonding with Bex as her true mate proved Bex’s intuition was on the right path when she killed her fated mate. The heartbreak was worth it in the end when Bex completed her prophecy and was mated to a god, just as her mother told her she would be.

Book 2 Also wonderfully written

5/5 book, could barely put it down.

So many plots and twists that you always want to know what happens next, which keeps you reading.

The story of how things went on between him and her, and everything she does and everything he does. You come to hate him and love him. He does everything
For her, even though he has many secrets that you don't always see clearly or realize too late for her, and she experiences a lot of pain and sorrow, but also love. She has to endure and go through a lot to achieve her goal, but so well written, amazing.

Sometimes fate has to be taken into your own paws🐺

The second book in the Gods of Gilyx was filled with so many twists and turns and enough clues to catch on if you really try!

We’re one more step closer to saving the Kilryn realm!! The 3 Blythe sisters are in full action and a certain God by their sides👀

The combination of Bexla’s gifts/powers I don’t think have been seen yet, I am eager to see where this heads next!!

The next book is a fate cursed and I truly hope Shay Taylor doesn’t break my heart!!

The magic this lady puts into her books has reached new heights! With a slightly different (much steamier 🔥) take in this one, Bexlas much anticipated book did not dissapoint! Shay always writes badass FMCs but Bexla really doesnt take no crap from Alaric and he sure can give it back. Absolutely loved the plot and the guessing really got my brain working... among other things 👀 cant wait for the next! Xx

I was frustrated and pissed for like 80% of this book, but I understood the why. 😂 I kept hoping Bexla would figure out Alaric’s motives earlier and save herself some heartbreak, but the continuation from book 1 pulled me in right away and held me there!

I was so happy for their HEA, and I can’t wait to read book 3. I love Ezra and I’m so excited to learn more about the third sister… who shall remain nameless for now. 👀
