Keep Me Safe is an instant attraction, kind of enemies to lovers, forced proximity, billionaire romance with mystery and suspense thrown into the mix. This story is about the siblings of the main couple in the first book. After meeting up with Jason and Laurel at an event, Jason’s brother Shawn meets Laurel’s sister Kara and is instantly enamored with her. Kara’s still recovering from coming out of a bad marriage and isn’t looking for a relationship, but she sees Shawn and knows he’s nothing but trouble. Shawn has never been shut down by a woman and begins relentlessly pursuing Kara for months, but things in their lives start getting serious when the man obsessed with Kara’s sister escapes from prison putting all of their lives at risk. With Jason and Laurel going into hiding and Shawn trying to protect Kara, will they finally realize their flirty relationship is actually the love neither one of them expected 👀

I really enjoyed the push and pull with Shawn and Kara. Kara is on her own and starting to discover who she is after her awful marriage, and she isn’t going to be another notch on the bedpost of a billionaire playboy. Shawn though, has never had a woman treat him like Kara does and he knows she is different than any other girl he’s met. He wants Kara to be the independent boss lady she is! But when it comes to her safety, he has no problem controlling the situation and making her listen. When they finally get together, the spice was definitely spicing! 👀

The audiobook was duet narrated and everyone did a fantastic job! This story had romance, mystery, suspense, plot twists, and a satisfying HEA ❤️ This book is an interconnected stand alone that can be enjoyed by itself, but I would recommend listening to the first book to get the most of out of this story ❤️

Nikki Sloane absolutely knows how to write romantic suspense that grabs you by the throat and refuses to let go. Keep Me Safe delivers everything I want from the genre: obsessive chemistry, dangerous stakes, emotional tension, and twists that keep you waiting for the other shoe to drop the entire time.

This series has such a cinematic quality to it. Every chapter feels tense, addictive, and emotionally charged, balancing romance and suspense in a way that never lets either side overpower the other. The action matters. The emotional stakes matter. And the romance burns slowly underneath all of it until it becomes impossible to ignore.

The Story

Keep Me Safe leans heavily into emotional suspense and dangerous attraction. Shawn and Kara’s dynamic is built entirely on tension, resistance, and chemistry that neither of them can fully escape. Kara refuses to fall under Shawn’s influence, which of course only makes him want her more, and their push-and-pull dynamic works incredibly well throughout the story.

What makes this one stand out is how balanced it feels. The suspense storyline constantly moves forward, keeping the danger close enough that you never fully relax, while the romance builds underneath it with slow-burn intensity. Every interaction feels loaded, whether it’s anger, attraction, fear, or emotional vulnerability.

This is one of those books where you can feel the twists coming… but that somehow only makes the tension worse because you’re just sitting there waiting for everything to explode.

And when it does? It absolutely delivers.

Honestly, this audiobook elevated the entire experience.

All three narrators completely embodied their characters and brought so much intensity and emotion to the story. Lidia Dornet captured Kara’s strength, vulnerability, and emotional conflict beautifully, while Chris Merlin and Gabriel Spires added so much depth, tension, and authority to Shawn and the surrounding suspense elements.

Together, they create an incredibly immersive listening experience that genuinely feels cinematic at times. The emotional scenes hit harder, the tension feels sharper, and the suspense becomes almost impossible to pause.

First of all, a huge thank you to the author and Valentine PR for this ARC & ALC ... you always spoil this audiobook and immersive-reading addict in the best possible way! You guys are amazing, and I honestly feel so lucky that you let me be part of your team!

I had been desperately waiting for this book ever since I finished Stay With Me, because all I wanted was Shawn’s story — the ultimate playboy falling completely for his sister-in-law’s sister? The perfect forbidden romance!!

And once again, this book delivered EVERYTHING. Especially romance, the really good kind. Hot, addictive, packed with slow burn tension, but also full of action and suspense that keeps you in a complete chokehold until the very end. The entire time, you’re just waiting for the plot twists you know are coming… and of course, they absolutely do.

But first, the audiobook...because WOW. Performed in duet narration by Lidia Dornet, Chris Merlin e Gabriel Spires, who all did a phenomenal job bringing these characters to life once again. They felt so natural in their roles, completely embodying the characters and capturing every layer of their personalities, every emotion, every ounce of passion. You truly feel everything alongside them.

The three of them make such an incredible narration team. Their voices and talent complement each other perfectly, and their performance pulls you so deeply into the story that you can’t stop listening. And Shawn? PERFECT with this voice. I swear, every time he spoke German, I melted… and I don’t even usually find that language attractive!!

As for the book itself, it’s another thrilling romantic suspense story that keeps you on the edge of your seat, plays with your emotions, and completely hooks your attention from beginning to end.

This time, we get Shawn’s story, Jason’s brother, a charming playboy and notorious womanizer who’s been warned to stay away from Laurel’s sister, Kara. But the attraction between them is way too intense to ignore… especially because no woman ever says no to Shawn... except Kara!

The chemistry between them is absolutely electric, and Kara feels it too. But after escaping a toxic relationship with a manipulative man, she’s hesitant to get involved with someone else who clearly has dominant tendencies. Shawn has to prove that he’s nothing like her ex , that he’s capable of letting go of control too, all so he can protect Kara the way she deserves.

But Shawn is determined to prove he’s so much more than the man everyone assumes he is.

And then the monster from Laurel and Jason’s past returns to haunt them all, and Kara risks herself to keep everyone else safe… only to end up trapped in the hands of a true nightmare.

Sloane crafted this story masterfully. It’s layered, intense, and perfectly balanced between drama, tension, action, twists, emotional suspense, and passionate romance. Her writing is incredible, the plot and world-building are fantastic, and the characters are beautifully complex, with so much growth and development throughout the story.

Now I’m already desperate for the next book!!

No woman refuses Shawn’s advances, except for Kara, which makes him work even harder to get her to say yes. The chemistry between them is electric, something Kara feels, but coming out of an already toxic relationship with a manipulative man makes her reluctant to get involved with another. Except Shawn is nothing like her ex, and he is determined to show her that and more, but then the monster from Laurel and Jason’s past comes back to haunt them, and Kara puts herself out there to keep other’s safe and winds up in the hands of a monster. Holy moly, Juric is the master of deceit, and while he certainly met his match with the Hayward sisters, his cunning evil is tough to contend with, while Shawn and Jason are racing against the clock, trying to locate and save her. Sloane’s masterfully crafted, multi-layered story has the perfect balance of drama, angst, action, twists and turns, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions, and steamy romance. The characters are intriguing, worldly, and it was great to learn more about them. As always, the writing, plot, and world-building are fantastic, as are the complexity of the characters, their growth and development. Nikki Sloane, thank you for another amazing story and wild ride.

I received this ALC from Nikki Sloane and Valentine PR and I’d like to thank them for it. This book was narrated by Lidia Dornet, Gabriel Spires and Chris Merlin in duet (multicast) style narration and is spectacular. Their voices melded so well together it was perfection.

Just like Stay With Me, this book is romantic suspense that starts off with a bang. This book picks up with Shawn Dunn, Marshall Jason Dunn’s brother; and Kara Hayward, Laurel’s sister from Stay With Me. That book ended with them meeting and Shawn deciding to himself that he would indeed have Kara one day.

Shawn Dunn is a billionaire beer tycoon who doesn’t do “love” and “relationships”, and he’s used to people falling all over him but not Kara. She is the one woman who is not intimidated by his charm, wealth and power – and he doesn’t know exactly what to make of that.

Kara Hayward is a no-nonsense woman who loves her sister fiercely and will do anything to protect her, but she has her own relationship hang ups that stem from her divorce and she finds it difficult to believe that she’s worthy of a relationship.

She and Shawn find themselves in a precarious situation when Ryan, the assassin they long thought to have been in custody is no longer… the situation takes a turn when he finds Kara and realizes that maybe Laurel isn’t his future.

The danger and intrigue of the book will keep you wanting not to put it down. The spice was AMAZING and fit perfectly in the book. I can’t say enough about this series. I’m SO sat and ready for book three… I have a feeling it’s going to be amazing.

Keep Me Safe is the second book in a passionate, thrilling, high intense series.

Shawn Dunn is the billionaire brother to Federal Marshal Jason Dunn and he's a bit obsessed with Kara Hayward, Laurel's sister. There is an interconnected plot from book one, but the actual suspense and romance is Shawn and Kara's alone. However, reading book one would get you the most enjoyment out of reading this book, but like I said, this is truly Kara and Shawn's story.

So, with that being said....back to Shawn and Kara...who have a different dynamic than their siblings, but it's no less intense. They are both the older sibling and it shows in a lot of ways; bossy, hard-headed, opinionated...you get the drift. It's not necessarily a bad thing, since those traits are the things that they admire in each other, while driving them crazy at the same time, but ultimately it's something they really, really like. For a bit these two seem like oil and water, but once Kara does let Shawn in these two are pure fire!!

Shawn knew the moment he met Kara he was hooked. Kara wasn't quite as hooked, not because she didn't like Shawn, she just had different priorities and had been burned...bad. Kara is a woman in charge and she's a powerhouse when it comes to dealing with just about everyone. I loved her, but her entire attitude was amazing to witness transform from cover to cover. When all is said and done, she was still this dominant woman, but somehow just a touch softer around the edges when it came to Shawn. I loved it!!

The suspenseful part was knuckle biting and I was on the edge of my seat. I could hardly turn the pages fast enough. Keep Me Safe was another fantastic book and I can't wait to see what happens in the final Dangerous Obsession book.

When I finished Stay With Me, I was so intrigued by Shawn so I was super happy when the next book is about him!!

The story picked up after the ending of the first book. Shawn and Kara have been associated with each other despite the very hard challenge coming from Kara's side. Shawn's charisma gets onto her but she's not one to succumb pretty easily. And Shawn is soo relentless with his pursuit! What started off as romantic turned dreadful when an unresolved conflict (and villain) from the past came chasing. It's pretty much a cat-and-mouse game between all parties especially when Kara is held captive. Between the distance and unspoken feelings between the pair, things are just so complicated in the wrong time.

Listen, I don't have much experience with German MMC in fictional books (my most significant one is Alex from The Life of Anna) but Shawn is written with such suave. His confidence is like a rocket: soaring and unapologetic. I like it & it somehow creates a lighter atmosphere within the serious plot. On the contrary, Kara is a complex character with so much walls around her. She has her reasons & as the chapters roll we get to see her getting attuned to her feelings amidst all the chaos and life-or-death situation.

Again, the suspense in the book is gritty. I love that the action is packed nicely & made important to the storyline. I mean it feels like there's still more to unravel & I'm so eager to know all the mysteries behind these.

I really like where this series is going! It is packed full of action, plot, and spice.

The MMC Shawn is a confident, obsessive billionaire CEO of a brewing company in Germany who definitely falls first for our FMC Kara, a strong, independent business woman and the sister of Laurel from the 1st book in the series. She continues to TRY to deny her attraction to him but really the author wasted NO time heating up the connection between these two and it was so, so hot right from the start. No slow burn here! The spicy scenes were delicious and I sucked up every juicy drop. 3🌶️

I do think there was a missed opportunity to include the German phrasing in the book, written and audio. Many times words were spoken in English, then after it would say “I said in German.” It felt incomplete to me. Also, the narrator for Shawn did not speak in a German accent, so there was no real understanding that he was actually from there. When listening to the audiobook it felt as if they could have been from anywhere. All the narrators did a good job with the performances but overall for these missed opportunities, I do not feel the audiobook adds to the reading experience in this book.

The action-suspense of this storyline is keeping me engaged and highly entertained with this series! I am looking forward to the next book! I’m excited to see how Ethan’s story plays into the series as a whole. Overall I will rate this book 4⭐️

This book completely hooked me from the start. The mix of romance, suspense, danger, and emotional depth made it such an addictive listen.

Kara and Shawn were SO good together. Kara is strong, independent, hardworking, and determined to handle everything on her own, while Shawn is protective, confident, loyal, and completely gone for her from the very beginning. Their chemistry was effortless, and I loved the tension and push and pull between them before things finally clicked into place.

What really kept me invested was the suspense storyline woven throughout the romance. The same assassin from the first book is back, and the danger surrounding Kara and the people she loves adds so much intensity to the story. Once the kidnapping storyline starts, I genuinely could not stop listening because the stakes felt so high the entire time.

I also loved how emotional this story was underneath all the suspense. Kara never loses her strength, even in the hardest moments, and Shawn’s devotion to her absolutely melted me. The way he cared for her, protected her, and loved her so openly made this romance impossible not to root for.

This was intense, emotional, romantic, and full of high-stakes moments while still giving me a relationship that felt deeply genuine and earned.

We pick back up shortly after the events of Stay With Me. With Juric finally captured, Jason and L are trying to settle into their new normal. This installment shifts the focus to their siblings, Kara and Shawn, and their story completely pulled me in. I also loved that Jason and L still had a sizable role throughout the book, which made it feel like a true continuation of the story rather than a disconnected spin-off.
Shawn is commanding, charming, and every bit the billionaire playboy heir to a German beer conglomerate. Beneath all of that confidence, though, he’s completely obsessed with Kara and determined to get her attention by any means possible.
Kara is fiercely independent, fiery, and still rebuilding her life after her divorce. She’s focused on reclaiming her independence and standing on her own, even when the chaos around her keeps threatening to pull her under.
After a violent scare at Kara’s NYC office, Shawn is the first person to show up for her. What Kara doesn’t realize is that this incident is only the beginning of her world unraveling. As danger escalates, Shawn becomes relentless in his mission to protect her, while Kara struggles to hold onto her independence and survive the fallout of Juric’s obsession once again.
Will these two be able to resist each other, or will they finally give in to the chemistry simmering between them amid the literal chaos exploding around them?
I loved the chemistry between Kara and Shawn, and the suspense kept me fully engaged from page one. Their tension, banter, and the constant danger made this such an addictive read.

Oh my! I did not think the next book could compare to the first, but wow!!! It did and it held it's own with the saga. This book was non-stop action packed thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat the entire read. I could not put this book down. Completely devoured it. It will shatter you and then put you back together again. So much violence and destruction. Just Wow!!!!

This book centers around Jason's brother Sean, the successful CEO of the beer company their family built. He is a flirt and gets everything he wants. Kara is Laurel's sister. Their relationship is on the mend after some tough years of no contact, but they are good now and moving on with life.

Sean is relentless with his advances on Kara. After her horrible marriage, she is scared to attempt anything with the playboy. But danger is just around the corner and they are thrown into a life and death episode that will push the boundaries of the already rocky relationship.

This book was full of violence, murder, destruction, kidnapping, drugs, sexual content and controlling men. Be warned and take heed of all trigger warnings, because there are a lot. But those make this book so worth it. It is full of action, steamy scenes, scares and thrills. It is an adrenaline rush of epic proportions. I recommend this to all you dark romance readers out there. But be sure to read book one, you don't want to miss any of the important bits.

I swear I love this series so much!! Ms. Sloane what did you put in this series some kind of drug because I'm addicted. I know Laurel was a bad$$ but her sister Kara was not to be played with lol. She was most definitely not her sister Laurel.

I personally hope that the Wayward sisters and the Dunn brothers don't go through anymore trauma for the rest of their lives lol. I can't wait for Book #3, possibly Ethan's story???

The narration was spectacular. Listening to Lidia Dornet, Chris Merlin, and Gabriel Spires perform in a seamless format makes the romantic tension and suspenseful action feel incredibly real and cinematic.

If you are looking for a romance that completely grips you from the very first page and doesn’t let go until the final, breathless chapter, this is it.

Billionaire Shawn Dunn is everything you could possibly want in a hero, watching him meet his absolute match in Kara Hayward is pure perfection. Kara isn't just another woman falling at a billionaire's feet. She is fire, defiance, and fierce independence personified. The push and pull dynamic between them is incredibly satisfying, building an inescapable romantic tension that makes every single interaction feel totally addictive.

Beyond the romance, the underlying suspense plot adds a compelling dangerous edge. The looming threat of a ruthless assassin hunting Kara’s sister keeps the pacing breakneck and the stakes incredibly high. With heart-pounding escalating danger and villainy lurking around every corner, I found myself racing through the pages.

The culmination of their story was just spot on. I absolutely loved Kara's indomitable spirit and Shawn's fierce determination to not only keep her safe, but to ultimately win her heart.

I read the e-book, then listened to the audiobook. The narration was smooth and nuanced enhancing the listening experience.

This book consumed me from start to finish. Shawn’s yearning, obsession, protectiveness, and complete inability to stay away from Kara had me hooked and honestly, I love his tenacity with her. The way he *wanted* her, not just physically, but with this deep need to protect and keep her safe.. it made every interaction between them feel intense and addictive, even when Kara had her walls up.

I also loved how seamlessly this tied into the first book while still fully standing on its own. Everything connected so beautifully, and that ending?! The teaser into the next book has me ridiculously excited because I already know I’m going to devour it the second it releases... at this point, I am sure I will be needing the entire series at shelf trophies!

And this AUDIOBOOK?! The full cast duet narration elevated this story to another level! It felt so immersive and the emotion from the narrators was incredible. You could feel the tension, the desperation, the fear, the longing... all of it. They really brought these characters to life in a way that made it impossible to stop listening. Literally. I listened to around 90% of this in one sitting because every single chapter ended with some tiny cliffhanger that made pressing pause physically painful. I kept saying “one more chapter” until suddenly hours had passed and the book finished.

Nikki Sloane once again fills my craving for an amazing romantic suspense. This is book two of her Dangerous Obsession series and it picks up after Jason and Laurel are married, Her sister Kara is being pursued by Jason’s brother Shawn. She does her best to resist. His wealth helps him manipulate the situation and he ends up flying her home to find it had been ransacked, and luckily he is there to get her out and to safety. The question is who is after her and why? This roller coaster is a wild ride. The suspense is high, the danger is real nd it made my heart race! The love that built between Kara and Shawn is full of passion and the way they want to get back to each other is had me rooting like crazy! Laurel, Jason and Ethan are right there when all of action is going on and the ending is shocking. Love the glimpse of what is to come, and now I can’t wait!

Lidia Dornet, Chris Merlin, and Gabriel Spires are the story tellers and they are fantastic. True chemistry, rising action, and complimenting voices create a listen that is easy to get lost in. I know I didn’t want to stop listening, it’s that captivating! Fabulous job and enjoyable narration!

It is a dark and twisted tale of revenge, secrets, and lies. There's danger lurking around every corner and non-stop action. It's about wanting what you can't have, but you can't seem to resist. Shawn was a goner for Kara the minute he laid eyes on her, but falling for her is dangerous, and it could cost them everything. Kara is fresh out of a bad marriage. She doesn't want to risk her heart to a player. Will she be able to resist Shawn's relentless pursuit of her? Will they or won't they? You'll have to read to find out!

This was such an addicting book! It has everything I love in a romantic suspense. The plot is fast-paced, gripping, and intense. It kept my attention and had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. The emotions run deep. The steam is high. The attraction is palpable and undeniable. The push and pull was sexy and entertaining. The characters are real and have depth. What more could you want??? This is an addictive series, and each book gets better and better! This is a complete standalone that ends with an HEA. It isn't necessary, but I also recommend reading the first book in the series. It is a great read, and you'll meet Kara and Shawn in book 1.

Keep Me Safe (duet audiobook) by Nikki Sloane is pure tension from start to finish ��� The spice between the MMC and FMC is strong—like constantly simmering right under the surface until it finally boils over in the best way 😮‍🔥 There’s so much push and pull in this one, it keeps you hooked the entire time.

The narration really brings it all together 🎧 The narrators know exactly when to soften things and let the emotional moments land, and when to fully step in and give the characters that extra intensity they needed. It never feels flat—every scene has life to it.

Overall, super steamy, super tense, and the duet narration just elevates everything.
“Maybe it was sex for you… but it WASN’T for me.” 🔥and that’s our MMC just laying it all out there!!!! GAWD!!!!

Definitely one that lingers after you finish 🖤

Man, I have to say, I was NOT rooting for Shawn in the beginning. But, as the book went on, I couldn't help it. He was actually more open with his feelings than I expected. Leave it to Nikki to be able to flip me on a character! He became SUCH an interesting and multidimensional character.
Now, Kara, goodness gracious! She is one powerhouse of a woman. I want to be friends with her, I want to just talk to her (though I doubt she'd open up to Lil ol me, cause she is fiercely protective of herself and her loved ones). She is tough, and I'm not sure what those Heyward women are drinking, but it needs to be shared. They are everything a strong independent FMC deserves to be in this day and age.
In short, and because too many details would be spoilery, these books are romantic suspense perfection! They keep moving, there's plenty of spice, and plenty of mystery and nail-biting suspense!
I immersive read this one, and it was wonderful. The voices were perfect, and I was so thrilled with how each character had their own personality that shown through in the vocal performance.

This was the perfect blend of romance and suspense.

Shawn may be the kind of billionaire who always gets his way, but Kara challenges him at every turn, and their chemistry is electric. I loved watching their constant push and pull as Kara slowly learned to trust someone as protective and determined as Shawn.

What really made this story stand out was the balance between romance and suspense. The danger from their past added genuine tension, and the action-packed moments had me racing through the pages to see how everything would unfold.

This was an emotional and thoroughly entertaining read with the perfect mix of heat, danger, and heart. Their relationship grew in such a satisfying way.

This was an exciting, emotional read that delivered on every level.

This series is so dang good. I love the romance, the spice, and the suspense. The FMC is also another badass FMC. She is not going down without a fight just like her sister who is featured in book #1 Stay with me.

Shawn is a billionaire bachelor who is very interested in Kara but she is fighting the attraction. Kara is just 2 years out of her divorce and still not ready to let anyone in. Shawn is determined to be with her but he doesn't realize that it is more than lust and one night that he wants. When Kara ends up in danger and captive Shawn and his brother Jason (Book 1 MMC) will stop at nothing to get her back and safe.

This is a gripping, twisty, and addictive book. Once I started reading I did not stop until I finished the book. Nikki Sloane's writing is easy to follow and very well done. The narrators were fabulous. I can not wait for book 3 which appears to be about Ethan.

🎧📚 Book Review – Keep Me Safe by Nikki Sloane

I legit have no words for this audiobook — it was THAT amazing! 🤍 The tension between Kara and Shawn was absolutely steadfast from beginning to end, and the chemistry between them was written so incredibly well. Every interaction had me hooked, and the emotional build-up was perfection.

The details throughout this book were so good and really pulled me into the story. I was completely invested in these characters and their journey.

And can we talk about Ethan finally getting his book?! I’ve been hoping since his appearance in book one that he’d get his own story. Now I’m already counting down the days until book 3! 🎧✨

I loved book 1 so much and I went into this really excited and honestly it was a no for me. The MMC rubbed me the wrong way immediately - he’s arrogant and rather icky and while he did semi redeem himself, the male narrator was not it. His voice makes him sound much older than the character and honestly he just sounds creepy and not in a dark romance way. Maybe reading this one would be better but it feel short for me. The FMC is the sister of the FMC in book 1 and she is being harassed and kidnapped by the criminal mastermind in book 1, the MMC is the brother to the MMC in book 1. He’s a billionaire, it’s semi enemies to lovers but really it’s more he wears her down and is gross.

3.5/5 for this one for me and I can’t recommend the audio.

This series is nonstop!

I am absolutely loving this revamped series that Nikki is doing. They are action packed, filled with emotion and steamy as hell. With MMC’s that know what they want, and FMC’s who make them work for it.

Kara and Shawn are perfect for each other, Shawn knows it, now he just has to get Kara to believe it. But life has plans that neither of these two could have expected, and you have to question if their connection is strong enough to get them through.

I can’t stop reading this series, and thankfully I have one more book until I have to. These are interconnected standalones but I feel like you really need to start at the beginning for the full experience. And you are going to want the full experience.

This book was really good!

The love between the two characters felt a little rushed and forced, but somehow still true. If that makes sense?
You could feel the agony of them being apart and the yearning to get back to each other. I just think it all happened a little fast and that makes it feel forced/rushed.

Kara is freaking SASSY!! That girl will take no shit from no one and I freaking love that. But her self doubt annoyed me a little at some points. I get she godt screwed over by her ex, but comparing everyone to him and how he treated her is not fair, especially not to Shawn.

I enjoyed it & definitely recommend it.

But I do have a feeling the last book will be my favorite.

I did enjoy this book!!! Book 1 still has my heart 🤭 It had a lot of action to it and I liked bringing back Laurel and getting to hear about where they are at! I also though sean and Kara were perfectly matched at so many points in this book!! I'm glad the ending happened the way it did for sure!! The audio for this book was amazingly done just like the first book!! I enjoyed both the narrators a lot, they brought so much emotion and heart break to this book!! I really like the way Nikki writes her characters and develops them throughout the book!
