The ride of a lifetime reaches its final destination! In the sixth and ultimate volume of Steve Stewart’s The Free Bird Files, the legend of Breeze and Fancy comes full circle. For fifty years, Steve Wallace and Nancy Collins have defied the odds, proving that a Lynyrd Skynyrd soul and a Barry Manilow heart can create the most beautiful song ever written. In SIMPLE MAN, the wild days of the 70s give way to a legacy of parenthood, leadership, and grit. Steve finally finds his true calling as a teacher and basketball coach. Meanwhile, Nancy finds her calling as a dental hygienist while also breaking barriers as a member of the local Board of Education. But adulthood brings the hardest miles yet. From the tragic passing of family pillars to the staggering loss of Steve’s dearest mentor, Breeze and Fancy must lean on their “undefeated” love to navigate a gauntlet of grief that would break most couples. The East Gadsden Boys are back, reuniting on a replica of the iconic Shack porch to prove that some bonds are forged in steel. Through miracles in the dark and the quiet joy of retirement, Steve and Nancy prove that while time marches on, passion doesn’t have to. So, grab a Miller Pony and climb aboard one last time. It’s the final, emotional, and triumphant chapter of a story where LOVE ALWAYS WINS!
The series conclusion. Lots of softball and basketball..... Steve played and coached sports A LOT in this book. Beau grows up and gets married. Parents and loved ones pass. Steve becomes a teacher, and Nancy becomes a dental hygienist. They both retire. They lived happily ever after. While this book wasn't as exciting as the others, it was a realistic conclusion.
I don't know how I stumbled onto this series, but I truly enjoyed it.
