Stephen Miller

Stephen Miller was born in Provo, Utah in 1962. While attending high school Stephen won several statewide debate competitions and received high marks at statewide drama competitions for two years running. His school won the state competition both years.

He met his future wife, crowned Miss Payson, while attending school in Payson, Utah. After graduating with honors, Stephen took on more adventure by joining the Utah Air National Guard. He attened Brigham Young University where he studied Portuguese, aerospace studies, and physics. The love of languages, flying machines, and physics are core concepts in his writing. He was a member of the Air Force ROTC for four Years.

It was in Sacramento, California, while serving in the U.S. Air Force that Captian Justo from the Planet Is was first told as a bedtime story to his children. It was so loved that Stephen was urged to write it down, and Captain Justo from the Planet Is became a rough draft. Over the years, the manuscript went through further modifications to add depth and meaning to the story.

Stephen took a break from writing Captain Justo and finished his first published book entitled The Home Buyer's Coaching Clinic, also published by TriQuest Publishing. The publishing experience was very positive, which encouraged him to continue writing his science fiction work. Captain Justo from the Planet Is was completed in the early winter months of 2008. After over fifteen years in development, not only the philosopy, but the characters and the final plot of the book were finished.

Stephen has written other works. He wrote the music for "Christmas Time Again" and "Possum City USA" in 1997 and 1998. In 1998, he wrote and produced "The Peddler's Muse."

He is currently working on a CD with his wife Edna, a classically-trained vocalist. He also recently completed an MBA from the University of Phoenix.

Stephen and Edna are the proud parents of seven children and have four grandchildren.

Let me start by saying that I probably wouldn't have thought to even give this book a second glance, BUT the author was doing a book signing and my 11 yr old daughter thought it was pretty neat to meet an actual author! So we walked away with a copy personalized for her. I managed to get first dibs on the reading, since my daughter was still finishing another book. I wasn't expecting much, but I found that I actually liked the story. It was fun and kept me somewhat intrigued. I was, at first, put off by the annoying Earth kids bickering, but I assumed it was important to the plot (it was) and kept on reading. I think that the majority of this book is a solid 3 star, HOWEVER - I gave it a 4 star review because of one seemingly insignificant plot detail that kept cropping up - something I'm not sure that I've ever seen in a YA novel (well, maybe once or twice - but I can't recall any at the moment)... the children in the book were encouraged to include their parents in their confidences, to seek their approval even. They even experienced the negative consequences of not choosing to do so initially. It doesn't seem like much, but I can't tell you HOW MANY times I am reading a great YA book and the character comes to a point where I'm screaming inside my head "Tell a grown up-DUH!", which of course they never do. Because kids can conquer the world without any help from an untrustworthy and incompetent adult, right? I know, I know... how could it be a good YA book without dead, nonexistant, or otherwise unreliable parent/adult caretakers? It worked for me and that's all I can say. I think this is a great book for kids 14 and under and we, at our house, are looking forward to the next installment!

The ideas in this book are interesting (not a religious book, but the story has some LDS perspective in it) and it's certainly a fun book to read with my seven year old who is a robot alien from another planet. It's not as polished as some books, but was a fun read. We met the author at Costco and he was very nice, of course my son was very excited to tell him his own ideas on the subject matter.

I remember when this book first came out, I was at the Provo mall in Utah with my dad. I was very big on books (and still am, of course) and I loved the idea of this book when the author told me about it. He was signing books at a booth at the mall, and my dad purchased one for me. It was a magical experience reading this for the first time. I would recommend this for anyone of any age! A fun read that is greatly paced!

The book was mainly about a guy named Marion Thomas Justo. In the begining his dad makes a bet with a space pirate. The pirate has a very valuable ship that has been in the Justo's family for at the least eight generations. They were unnintentionally tracked so they have to get out quick. They do then Marion and his dad meet in the middle of space. When they meet up In space suddenly they are fired at his son escapes but goes through a painful proccess. After six months he finds life on another planet... Earth. He needs other human DNA to make his ship work. That's when he finds two kids.

I think that the book was great, aliens, time travel and a code to live by. Also in this book there is CSI FBI and homeland security. I would give it a five out of five but there were some parts of the code/pearl that I didn't like so I'm giving it a four out of five. But other than that It was awesome.

I don't think that I had many connections to the book. One was I know how it feels to get bullied. The second was I have been lost before in some places that I dont know where I am.

an easy to read, unique and fun adventure. I will be interested when the sequel comes out. Not a book I would have initially picked up, but that's what a book group is for.

i enjoyed the deeper meanings of the book, child-parent relationships, the ideas of space travel and hearing the back story, one of the author's daughters is in our book group.

there were times when I got lost in the technicality of mechanical explanations, felt like some of the dialogue and a number of transitions weren't natural, and I noticed a few typos (I think I read a first printing) my favorite typo was the mistake of the ship's name "seration" into "secretion".

Amazing book! I would never have picked it up if I hadn't run into the author promoting it at a small bookstore at the mall. It sounded interesting enough, even though I'm not quite the target age group and I'm usually more of a fantasy person. I was thrilled to be enthralled almost from the moment I picked it up. The characters are believable and engaging, I could hardly put the book down until I finished. When I picked up a copy for my daughter a year later I was excited to hear there was a sequel coming which is out now and I'm just ready to start. I can't wait to see what more is in store for Captain Justo.

Captain Justo from the Planet Is is one of the best books I have ever read. It had better be since I am the author. I worked on this book for over 15 years perfecting the characters and the storyline. Each person I meet who has read the book confirms to me the need for books with positive messages and clear morals. Being good is more fun, adventurous and dangerous than being bad. More books need to portray this fact. I hope you will enjoy this book as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Great book for kids/teens. I'm 13 and once I started reading it, I really couldn't put it down. Great story line. I've read the Harry Potter books and lots of other books and this book tops them all. I can't wait for his next book to come out. i Strongly recommend this GREAT book.

The storyline is ok. The characters are mostly frustrating, though Marion himself is makes a good GOOD guy, and I easily identified with him. I really enjoyed this unique sci-fi universe, and it was powerful in its ability to make me want to be a better person.

Okay storyline, horrible editing. The grammar and spelling mistakes in this book were very distracting.
