Risveglia lo sciamano che è in te

Within you is a greater, wiser self that is not bound by your fears, worries, or perceived limitations. Dr. Jose Luis Stevens calls this the Inner Shaman-the part of you that connects directly to the true source of the universe. "The shamans of every tradition know that the physical world we can see and touch is a mere shadow of the true spirit world," writes Dr. Stevens. With Awaken the Inner Shaman, he presents a direct and practical path for opening our eyes to the greater spiritual dimensions-and stepping into the power and responsibility we possess to shape our reality. In this rousing and provocative book, he invites readers to discover:
. What is the Inner Shaman? How an understanding of our deeper spiritual potential shows up in every mystical tradition
. Seeing through the heart-why the heart offers us the most immediate path for accessing the Inner Shaman
. The Inner Shaman in action-how to stop living from the egoic mind and put your true essence in charge
. Eight tools to strengthen your connection to the Inner Shaman, and much more
Humanity has become enthralled by the Siren's song of technological progress, which has tempted us away from the spiritual source that truly sustains us. In Awaken the Inner Shaman, Dr. Jose Stevens challenges readers reclaim our lost power to heal, see truly, and fulfill our purpose in life. As Dr. Stevens writes: "The Inner Shaman, suppressed and ignored for centuries, can be discovered in the most obvious place possible-within your very own heart."

This book was on the recommended reading list for a meditation teacher training I recently attended. It's the stupidest book I've read in my entire life combing cultural appropriation, racism, and shitty pseudoscience.
The chapter on quantum physics has NO basis an actual science whatsoever. The universe and atoms are torus-shaped? The center of the universe is portable? WTF kind of quackery is this?
Then the section on DNA. You know what happens if you "activate your junk DNA" if you just randomly turn genes on? CANCER AND DEATH.
To top of the terrible misrepresentation of multiple fields of science, the entire book exudes racism, first appropriating indigenous traditions and spiritual practices and twisting them to something barely recognizable all the while projecting a "noble savage" view of North American Indigenous People.

I would give this book zero stars if I could.

Books keep crossing my path that I hadn’t intended to read, but once I start reading them it’s immediately apparent why it’s so relevant and necessary. This book was no exception. Dr. Stevens is clearly one of the most educated and learned people around about shamanism, and I found his explanations made this topic easy to understand and follow. I also thought it was helpful to have the exercises built into the chapters, and appreciate the cultural connections from his experiences with his travels and studies. Definitely will be coming back to reference info from this great book!

Stevens has been all over the world and studied all the ancient wisdom he could find. The result is a Shamanistic practice that is pretty impressive. It seems like something that would be worth trying, for developing your inner strength and sense of self, and then for eliminating road blocks that get in your way. Let me know how it goess; I'll meet you on the other side!

This is the first book I have read on shamanism. Since I have read many metaphysical books, a lot of what is explained in this book I am already familiar with. To me the inner shaman is the higher self. I want to learn about shamanism, specifically about the rituals, but I don't want to spent 10 years in the south American mountains to learn it. this is a good beginners book but I am ready to delve deeper.

The writing in this book was fine but I found it made too many assumptions about the reader's perspective. I was hoping for more background on shamanism. Not being religious myself (though spiritual), the lack of background or the 'why' behind the exercises in the book made it read much more like a self-help book.
