Elite was definitely feeling herself and she had reason to. Being one of the baddest chicks in Brooklyn, Elite used what she had to get what she wanted. All she needed was her money or so she thought until Genesis came along. Genesis' swag was impeccable and although he was falling for Elite, her reputation on the streets prevented him from making her his girl. Through the drama and turmoil, Elite and Genesis finally take a chance and make it official, but will it be too late for their love to prosper? Take a ride with this power couple and see how it all goes down!
The title definitely fits the story. I was pulled into the madness and could not stop turning the pages. Elite is something else. She uses what she's got to get what she wants by any means necessary. I can't help but to think that her upbringing made her the way that she is. I have a love hate type relationship with her character. I hate her, but I can't help but to love her also. She is a hustler and a force to be reckoned with. I can't wait to see what the madness will be like in part 2. #UIP
'I'm feeling myself' isn't your average urban fiction love story and Elite isn't your average female. She uses what she has to get what she wants and doesn't care who is effected in the process. Her heart has been turned cold after being broken and the only people she cares about is her son, her best friend, & her god daughter. That is until she starts messing around with Genesis. After some time, feelings start to show but that becomes a problem because Genesis has a girlfriend who he has a child with.
From be very beginning, this story will suck the reader in. I was extremely caught up and found myself reading at every moment that I could. The character development as well as the plot twists that were included in this story assisted in it being a five star read. I recommend this book to anyone who loves a face paced urban tale. I own other books from this author but have not gotten around to reading them. I will be doing that in the near future and will surely purchase part II.
This story was so typical of the bulk of hood books being published in the past five years. There's the usual cliches: opulence, label dropping, and gorgeous women. Just for kicks we also get the recovering drug addict mom, and psycho ex-girlfriend. I'm predicting a double wedding in the sequel.
It's not that this book was terrible, it just wasn't good. There is no substance to the characters; the only memorable person is Elite. The author is not without talent, but she will have to elevate her storytelling skills.
Chrissy did her damn this! This book was juicy and had me itching for more. Elite is the type of woman who truly believes the saying "use what you got to get what you want"
I so wanted to give this book 5 stars. The grammatical errors and a bit of redundancy is what’s keeping me from giving a 5 star review. Nonetheless, still a great read! I couldn’t put it down.
Omg Chrissy I need part 2 asap!!! I loved Elite because no matter what anyone said about her they couldn't deny the fact she was getting money. She had a hustler mentality and didn't let anything or anyone stand in the way of her getting what she wanted. Ny-Ny was a true friend and they had each others back at all times. Alright I see you Genesis! I didn't agree how he handled his home situation but I respected that he never kept anything from Elite. I liked Nazir and he always kept it real with Genesis. Man Tamara was working my damn nerves. She expected her so called man to stick around but she lacked the qualities needed to keep him happy. Her and her little friends needed to find something better to do with their time instead of worrying about the next chick. And how are you talking so much trash about someone but have them in your face not knowing who they were?! Straight up dumb chick! I even liked Dolce and Gabbana because the were some bad bitches too that were ready for whatever. Noni little ass was grown and I would've straight waxed her ass. It was good seeing Nazir not only step up to his responsibilities, but also step in and treat Noni as his own. I wasn't even mad when Elite changed her mind about her arrangement with Genesis because I understood where she was coming from. Genesis thought he was that dude and felt he could do what he wanted but Elite sure proved him wrong! Once everything started being revealed, I could only shake my head. The things revealed by Elite's mom would have anybody like damn!!! I knew Tamara's crazy ass wasn't wrapped tight! I'm just hoping everything works out. How will everyone process the bomb Elite's mom dropped, what was going through Tamara's head, will things be alright after the stunt Tamara pulled, and will Genesis and Elite be able to move along without anymore complications?!
I felt it was a little drawn out but it started getting good so I'm not mad. The characters were okay but not one of them worked. Elite used her body to get what she wanted. She must have been the bomb. But what did yoshi do? I liked their friendship though they had each other's back. It got really good in the end. You see how small a world it is. I'm a little confused about whose related to who. They are all brothers and sisters and having bAbies. This is getting messy. I'm feeling it now and I have to wait for part 2.
A must read. This storyline was too much elite an Ny-ny are thick as thives and they chase paper like men and play the games. Elite is a hustler but falling for genesis was never in the cards. Ny-ny and Naz are so cute together but she lets noni get away with too much. Elite is all about taking care of family and when she starts her hosting business her friends at down for the ride and the let the drama and laughs rolls. A woman scorned is a deadly thing genesis and elite are in for a surprise.
I loved every page of this book! I swear I hated to see it end so I trued to slow it down but I couldn't stop reading! I was just waiting on Tammara's comeback! I'm glad Genesis manned up but the problems with so many men these days is they are greedy and they fail to realize that a lot of confusion can be avoided by being truthful. I'm so ready for part 2. Great job on gaining me as a fan Ms. Chrissy J!
Chrissy J I'm beyond impressed. This was my first read from you and this book snatched my mind from the very beginning. Elite's frame of mind was above a BAWSE. Furthermore she portrayed the essence of REAL. But my favorite character definitely is Nazir. He was 100% from the jump. I'm badly waiting to see how part 2 will playout especially after all that DRAMA that unfolded...! #PageTurner #ForSureFan
I tried. I tried. I really did try! Try as I might I couldn't and can't get with this book. It's the typical hood story. Girl has terrible up bringing girl meets dope boy dope boy wife's her and buys her Gucci this Louie that 50 bedrooms this Range Rover that because she has the biggest ass ever and they have dysfunctional hood love. Cliche! Blah. I'm over it. No substance what so ever.
She had a hard life her father died when she was young her mother left her to fend for herself, so she did what she had to do to survive, she had a baby by a deadbeat and vowed never to fall in love but she does a nd when her lover leaves his baby mom for her the baby mom is not having it so she tries to shoot her but he jumps in front of her and gets shot going to read part 2 now
Elite had to grow up fast. She wasn't proud of the things she had to do but she made a life her, Ny Ny and Ny's daughter. Benjie is a punk for not helping Elite with their son. Genesis is a good dude but should of been left her Tamara alone when he fall out of love with her. Glad he's taking care of his daughter. Ny and Naz is going to be a wonderful family
This is the first book I've read by Chrissy J. I must say I'm impressed. I couldn't put the book down. It was definitely a page turner and great read. Can't wait to see what happens next.
Chrissy scored again this book was great. I read this book nonstop. I am so team Elite with all the betrayal from her mom she deserves happiness. Anxiously waiting on part 2
Good book it has potential to turn into a great series just needs a lot more background info on the characters to better explain their emotions. It felt kinda rushed at times but over all a good book.
I loved this story, I can't wait for part two, I hope Genesis is okay and I knew the ex was going to pop up some where. I can't wait for part two... #PartTwoPlz
It showed a bad passed chick taking care of herself. Raising her son and doing the Damn thing well. I was most excited about the the way the story ended..now ready for the next one...oh my
Genesis & elite love is crazy! I can't wait to see this unravel. Then the revealing of who is sisters and brothers had me like "SAY WHAT NOW" ! Lol! I had to read it twice. It almost was some incest about to take place lol ok! Great read!!! Part 2 come on with it!!
I loved the chemistry between Elite and Genesis. Elite is a bad chick and handled her business. NyNy and Naz also have an awesome chemistry too. I can wait to read part 2 and find out what happens to everyone! I couldn't put this book down.
Very good storyline, I was addicted from the first few sentences. Good writing Chrissy J, now I got to read part 2 to see what the hell happened!!! I recommend everyone to read this book!!!
Elite was that chick she had everybody on lock the dudes the females. She was every man's dreams, but female's couldn't stand her because they wanted to be like her. Genesis was so stuck on her he had a woman but didn't want to see her with anybody else.
