Crafter's Choice.
I found this book to be very clear, and loved that every border design has a real photo, a written pattern, and a symbolic pattern. I also like how they divided chapters to sort of break down the more complicated looking ones by getting you to think of them as just a modified basic stitch, eg. a picot. The introductory pages on basic stitches are very clear and have great diagrams and made great use of color to emphasize where the hook should go. I think one could just pick up this book and learn to crochet, reading nothing else. I'd love to have this in my permanent library as a reference.
Found this by chance and it was possibly the most clear, in depth overview and teaching of crochet I've ever seen in a book. I wish I had read this when I first started crocheting, and it has many new stitches for me to learn and use as an intermediate crocheter.
Since I crochet alot I was looking for more border designs for the blankets and such that I make. This book has more than I found anywhere else and is a big help. There are ones, of course, ones that I would not make bur more than enough to do.
