I JUST LOVE PETER. Sometimes, you’ll hear pastors and theologians give him a hard time for nearly drowning due to a lack of faith when he attempted to walk on water to Jesus. Or they’ll criticize him for not being in tune with God’s sovereign plan when he ripped out his sword and sliced off the ear of one of those who had come to arrest Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane. But to me, Peter was the ultimate picture of courage. Throughout his life, both while he walked with Jesus and after his Savior’s death and resurrection, Peter was so brimming with zeal and excitement about what Christ had done in his life that he could not help but testify about what he had seen and heard. In other words, Peter’s life had been so radically transformed that he literally could not contain himself—he could not keep quiet— about Christ’s intervention in his life.
