This author is likely AI. I did enjoy this book, but I probably won't read more by the author.

4.5. Their chemistry is undeniable and his yearning/obsession, love how it is revealed. And the overall reason behind the set-up was well done. I am a new fan of this author!

I think whether this book works for you depends entirely on what you wanted from it going in. I fucking loved it.

I’m kinda tired of every dark romance needing to dissect the human condition. Sometimes it’s nice to pick up a book where the entire premise is basically: "what if this man was catastrophically obsessed AND sexually repressed?"

This book is erotica. Aggressively so. The sex is not a side dish to the plot. The sex IS the plot. And honestly, I respected the commitment to it. The priest premise, the religious guilt, the obsession, the captivity dynamic, all of it creates this constant feverish atmosphere that the story leans into hard.

And I genuinely do not understand people complaining about how much smut there is in a book marketed like this. This isn’t one of those romances where you get three bland, copy/paste sex scenes buried between emotional conversations and subplot progression. The book is here to be horny, obsessive, taboo, and fucking excessive. If that’s not your thing, you’re probably going to hate it.

But if it IS your thing? This absolutely delivers.

Wow… I am very conflicted about this one…
on the one hand it has a trope that I like and it is a very rare occurrence in a dark romance setting- a virgin MMC , with single-minded obsession (no cheating)🙌
However the story, language patterns and lack of emotional depth felt a bit odd and “off”… Therefore I went on a research and it appears that this might be AI generated content…😣Nooo!😩😑
While I know from a personal experience that many authors have a backlog of several unpublished manuscripts on hand, the way this new author appeared out of nowhere and the rate the stories were being churned out was unrealistic even for an indie author…
But if you are curious about it, here is a short synopsis:
A virgin (very handsome) priest, Father Damien and the heroine Eliza are abducted by a masked captor and locked together in a cell (very similar to Still Beating!)
They are forced into a non-con captivity with forced breeding, a scenario designed by their unhinged captors.
Father Damien quickly adapts to the situation, giving into his darker desires and becoming obsessed with the heroine.
The story follows a forced pregnancy storyline, solving conveniently some problems and steering the plot through adjustments into marriage and a happy ending…

Taboo story between a virgin priest and his obsession over FMC. The smut was high but got repetitive towards the middle which dragged. Had to suspend belief that virgin MMC suddenly becoming a sex god and making FMC 💦 when she never got hers with previous BFs.

Enjoyed the ending but would've loved to see a chapter on villain's POV or more details on his comeuppance. Nice set up for sequel with the twins.

Safety gang - this is the safest dark romance I've read in a while with no OWD/OMD. He's a virgin and she had prior boyfriends, no cheating, no sharing, no on page sex with OP.

FMC: Eliza, works as a bank teller in her small town. She has one day left on her shift before she dips out and moves in with her grandmother in the city. Why is she moving? Her mother is an overbearing bitch and also, she's utterly entranced by the "out of bounds" hot Priest at the local parish. Eliza is tired of being fascinated and infatuated with a man she can never have, so f it. She's going to leave and find someone else.
MMC: Father Damian Hayes. The heartthrob of the community church.

Story opens with Father Hayes coming to the bank to deposit a check for the church at Eliza's stall (it's also her last shift before she leaves town for good). Except two bank robbers roll in and kidnap the two of them (A priest and parishioner make for good ransoms).

Except, now they are held captive by a third entity, Rector. And Rector forces the good Father to renounce his celibate ways.

Overall, the story is very "Still Beating"-esque... But the captivity part is about 2/3 of the book. (as opposed to, like 25% in the former?)

Tropes: Celibate/Virgin Priest, breaking of vows, tons of dubcon straddling the noncon line, forced BJ, spanking, a shock collar, breeding, captivity, pregnancy, many references to religion.

Dual POV with a bonus chapter POV from the Kidnapper

Overall, pretty decent. BUT. I feel like Father Hayes devolved a bit too rapidly for me; I kinda wanted to see him fight it a little bit more. It was only 20% and they had already had sex. It was like, once he had a taste of the forbidden pussy, Mr. Good Father left the building and just became a sex fiend.

Also, a handful of spelling errors.

Wow this book was so good. One of the best books from start to end I’ve read for a long time. I couldn’t put it down. It was almost 5 stars

I really liked the leads, their dark love story in captivity, the non con, the breeding, the male lead’s obsession with the female lead after experiencing her. I really liked the revelation that the whole reason the male lead moved to the town was because of the female lead. Even the non-romance plot was pretty solid.

Smut was decent but I wish it was spicier.

I also wish we got moments of the leads experiencing pregnancy together after the breeding kink. The whole reunion arc felt disappointing and brief compared to the rest of the book

I wasn’t a fan of the epilogue being on the side characters as opposed to the main couple. It just felt like forced advertising just as I was soaking in a happy ending between the couple

I also felt like it ended on a bit of a cliffhanger between the main couple because we never find out about the second child.

Wow this book really surprised me (in a good way). I thought it was going to be another dark romance about a priest but this took a turn and twists after twists and I was hooked until the end. I was in a reading slump for a while now. Not finishing books after books but this one really pulled me out of that slump. Definitely a great read for sure.

Now about the book. Please read the trigger warnings because it was dark and dub-con was involved. What I liked the most about this book was that it had a solid plot and storyline and not just smut after smut. Both main characters were likeable. Though I must say that the mmc really pissed me off about halfway through the book and I was this close to dnf it but the twists in the book shone through and in the end he redeemed himself imo. But the way he acted during the sex scenes was not believable. I mean he’s a virgin and was a priest for god sake but he was like a pro boning the fmc 💀

However I really wished the POV from another character was revealed later and not in the middle of book. Because it could have served as a great angsty arc for the couple and for us readers so when we found out about what really happened, I wasn’t really sad and heartbroken during the climax of the book. Such a wasted opportunity imo.

PS; I’m really intrigued with the twins book. Two men and a blind fmc? Oh yeah, count me in. I don’t think their book is released yet though.

Safety deets:
100% safe
Virgin mmc & non-virgin fmc
No other people drama

Wow, it feels wrong to rate this 5 stars but it was a fantastic read. All the tropes were done right and the plot was very good. That being said, it's very likely that the author is AI given the sheer body of work in such a short time of publication. However, if it is really AI, the level of writing is really something to think upon. If it can produce stories like this, then it's slightly concerning for the future. Now, I kinda want to read Tobias and Lachlan's story.

I want the twins and eves book so bad now. And yes that’s my main take away. Erika and Damian were okay. We don’t really learn to much about them imo other then Erika has a narcissistic mom and Damien is/was a priest. Damiens half brothers were the ones that locked him in there with Erika but I feel like he would have helped them if they just showed him the videos and promised him Erika. But also maybe not cause it really bothered me when Damien wanted to be the victim so bad. Mind you yes he was locked up to but he was the one reaping any benefit at all. The whole kidnapping was for him to be separated from the main priest. Back to him being a victim how you gonna blame Erika when you were the one who saw her first then write about her in your diary which seems to have been accessible to multiple people. Good and bye. I don’t think he ever really took accountability because he literally left Erika in the hospital letting her think he abandoned her. Maybe he had good reason but to me no. She was pregnant, basically starved and traumatized. Also Erika forgave him to quickly like omg no grovel barely a sorry. When the grandma was there putting her nose in her business I shook my head like butt out. She basically told her to forgive him like you don’t even know the half of it. Also the grandma had to have been the one to tell the mom that Erika was in the hospital. She didn’t protect her when she was healing. Yes Erika is an adult but you the grandma and your son is dead and not able to protect his daughter. All of that to say I enjoyed this book. Once Damien came around it got better. I wish things were more fleshed out and I need grovel. To much forgiveness to quick. I really hope there is news about the 2nd book cause I wanna read it.

Sanctified Sin somehow took a premise that should’ve been absolutely insane in the best way and made it feel weirdly hollow.

The kidnapping arc alone felt like it lasted seventeen business years.

It just kept going in circles: trapped somewhere, conversations, sex scene, dramatic statement, another sex scene, vague mention of danger, rinse and repeat. At some point I stopped caring about what was even happening because the story itself felt completely buried under all the smut. And listen, I’m not a spice hater. But if your plot can disappear for multiple chapters and nothing changes we have a problem.

And the thing is… this could have worked.

The whole priest aspect should’ve added so much tension and internal conflict but instead of feeling tortured or emotionally layered, Damien mostly just felt horny with guilt attached to it. I never fully bought into his struggle because the book was way more interested in making him sexually intense than psychologically compelling. And Eliza adjusts to everything happening around her so fast that it completely took me out of the story. Nobody reacts like this in real life. The emotional realism just evaporates almost immediately.

Also for something marketed as dark romance, it never actually felt dark to me. Messy? Yes. But dark romance needs emotional weight, manipulation, tension, consequences and something deeper underneath the taboo. This just felt like the book wanted to shock you with the premise and hoped that would carry the entire thing.

And honestly? After a while, even the shock factor wore off.

By the end I wasn’t emotionally invested, scandalised or obsessed. I was just tired.

I finished reading Sanctified Sin and I have to say, it was a great book! If you enjoy dark romance that leans into extreme tropes, this one delivers on its premise.

The story revolves around Father Damien Hayes, a priest who has taken a vow of celibacy, and a heroine who finds herself in a nightmare scenario. When they are both taken captive, they are forced into a horrific situation where the priest is compelled to break his vows. It features some intense triggers, including on-page rape, as the two are coerced by their captors into a breeding scenario where the priest is forced to get the heroine pregnant.

What made the dynamic particularly gripping was watching the priest’s transformation. He starts as a figure of discipline and restraint, but under the pressure of their captivity, he becomes deeply, darkly obsessed with the heroine. It’s a intense, heavy read that definitely doesn’t hold back on the moral ambiguity or the darker elements of the genre. If you are looking for high-stakes, forbidden captivity romance, this is definitely one to check out.

An automatic 1 star.

I saw that some reviewers suspect this was written with the help of AI and I might be inclined to agree.

I did notice a lot of rambling and some typos but as I was reading, AI didn't cross my mind. Looking back, it would make a lot of sense. There were long paragraphs of inner monologues that I mostly skimmed over because they were tedious to get through and it did strike me as unusual how detached the characters felt even when they were supposed to be going through an emotional time.

A lot of it didn’t quite make sense, but that’s common in works by actual authors as well. However, in the middle of one page was the word Delete almost like a command to the model and on another page the quotation marks weren’t in the proper places. I guess I should have realized it was abnormal but I thought the author didn’t have a good editor.

The parts of this I liked were the taboo aspect and non-con but that can easily be found elsewhere. I’m disappointed in this book and the fact that I didn’t pick up on the AI earlier.

I really wanted to like this story

I opened this with excitement to get my dark and twisty fix and then...

The FMC ruined it for me. Absolutely ruined a story line that could have been great. She was a loud mouthed, insufferable twit. Her inability to keep her GD shut at critical times rendered her TSTL but unfortunately, she did live. Sadly.

The book was well written and the plot pacing felt fine. I found it hard to get into it because my disdain for the FMC was front and center whenever she was on the page—roughly, 90-95% of the book—consequently I can't say that it was a surface only novel because I have no idea if it was or not since my focus was on hating the FMC.

Would I recommend this book? No. Would I mention it if books of a similar ilk were being mentioned? Probably, but not without a warning about the FMC. Ugh. I need something to get my mind off of this one.

If you’re looking for something super spicy, heavy on the noncon, and full of religious trauma, this is right up your alley.

It starts with a bit of lust before diving into kidnapping, body betrayal, identity crises, and a relationship built entirely without consent.

I gave it 3.5 stars because, while it was entertaining, it felt a little hollow at times. I never became very attached to the characters, so the emotional moments didn’t hit as hard for me.

The religious themes were a little uncomfortable but I appreciated that Damien was being manipulated and coerced rather than willingly making many of his choices. Watching him wrestle with the guilt and trauma added depth to his character.

Overall, a fun, dark read!

Well i did not expect it to go all the ways it went haha. It was definitely a surprise, i did not actually read the blurb and just dived in based on a recommendation. It was dark and heed TW if any. But it actually dives into a more problematic side of a religion that we know til this age could be happening behind the scenes, the corruption, the darkness and the lives that are played into their games. I will delve on that but this book aside from the taboo nature and even though the less one star was bec i honestly could not get into their chemistry as we are thrown right into the middle of a climactic moment, i was more focused on the plot and side story rather than what was happening with them.

I absolutely inhaled this. This would have been a 5-star read for me if it wasn’t for the fact that it felt like this book was part of a series and I somehow missed the first book?? I just checked again and it says it’s a standalone so I’m confused.

There were two characters in the book who were introduced in a way that made it feel like we were supposed to already know who they were, their history/motive, but we weren’t given any of that until one of the very last chapters of the book.

When we finally find out their motives behind a major plot point, the FMC says she had already guessed it?? Were we supposed to have guessed it too??? How were we supposed to when we didn’t even know who these people were??? Lol

This was………. Perfect for me! It had banter, dub-con, non-con, religious guilt, power dynamics etc. I loved every bit of it. Damien Hayes has a complete transformation throughout this book as he wrestles with who he wants to be and who he was raised to be.

A priest and a woman in his Parrish are kidnapped together. The priest is then forced to break his vows with her or she will be killed. All through this there is a reason and story behind why these two specifically are kidnapped and made to do the things they were. I really loved Damien struggling with himself over what he has to do so they can survive and his struggle to accept that he likes it.

🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ (explicit and plentiful)

At first I was like AI, what AI? And then around 50% it was undeniable. And really hard to keep going. Just repeating the same info over and over and every AI indicator known to mankind. The beginning was really interesting - like the first 30% or so—and I suspect this is where the author put in the most work. It felt like AI just took over in the latter half. The concept was very interesting and some of the biblical references etc in the beginning fascinating but yeah it just totally devolved unfortunately. I wouldn’t mind an author/AI collaborating in theory as long as it is good all the way through, but this wasn’t that.

4.5⭐️

This book was so different from anything I've read in dark romance. The premise alone hooked me, it was trauma, grief, survival, and two completely broken people trying to hold onto each other in the worst possible situation.

My heart genuinely broke for both Damien and Eliza. They were trapped physically, mentally, and emotionally, and you could feel the desperation on every page. The chemistry was intense, the tension was suffocating, and yes, the SMUT WAS SMUTTING!!

Dark, heartbreaking, emotional, and unlike the typical dark romance.

-no cheating, no ow drama

As a self proclaimed connoisseur of dark romance, this one was just okay. I can’t put my finger on it, but it felt a bit hollow. The elements were there to add depth and texture to the story, but it felt like dress up rather than the real thing.

It was easy to put down, too. I usually devour a dark romance of this length in 1-2 days, but I found myself saying, “that’s enough for today.”

The typos were also a bit annoying but we all know I can overlook those when it’s well done (IICHY 👀)

spice level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

found this gem on reddit, and it honestly exceeded my expectations. the premise was unique, the plot kept me hooked, and the spice was very HOT. some of the routines could've used a bit more detail or variation. overall, this was such a great creative dark romance and deserve all the hype!

A great read!

This was the first book from Lux Kane that I've read and I really enjoyed it. It was dark and spicy and I couldn't put it down. I'm hoping for more of the same from this author in the future as I've noticed that her other stories are under 100 words mostly. This was a great read and I'd highly recommend it!

and the premise of this book would’ve been fine too if the MMC wasn’t a priest. Didn’t understand the need for his character to be a priest
