Southern Cries by Heather Levi was an engaging, fast-paced read that grabbed my attention from the very first page and was hard to put down. The character development was excellent, and the story gave me a vibe that felt like a mix between a Frieda McFadden thriller and Stephen King's Rose Madder.

My biggest frustration was the main character. She stayed in an abusive relationship for far too long, and after leaving, she made several decisions that didn't make sense—like not installing security cameras in her new home, sharing her location and workplace on Facebook, and believing moving to another state would stop her clearly unhinged ex-husband and his mistress. I also wished she'd taken more time to heal instead of falling for Zane so quickly. I was hoping for more of a woman-empowerment journey.

Overall, this was a compelling, emotional story that kept me turning the pages, and I'd definitely recommend it.

I couldn't put it down

The opening paragraphs caught me and I stayed up until 2 am to finish reading it. Hard to believe this is the author's first book! The plot and characters were well developed and the writing was cohesive and descriptive.
I think anyone interested in romance, mystery and drama would enjoy reading it.
