Bat Wings and Motor Oil is an instant lust, high heat MMF monster romance. I was instantly sucked into the characters lives and the plot - I couldn't put this down! I loved book one in the Bonesaw Brothers series by Lizzie Strong, Jockstraps & Newspapers, and this one did not disappoint. I'm so excited to see where this series goes next, but I have theories that I'm super excited about being potentials!

Katarina was a badass whose spark had been stolen by her abusive husband. Luckily, she leaves his ass early in the book and inadvertently moves to greener pastures with her little girl. Jessie was all himbo energy, even if he was smart enough to head a chop shop enterprise while doing most business above board. Nik was grumpy and a bugbear of few words—the muscle to Nik’s world and his bestie with benefits. I wanted to clock them upside the head a few times for being so slow in figuring out it was more than that when they’d been besties for most of their lives. I always appreciate a kid who is just a kid in single parent books, and Isabella was def that. It got pretty high stakes pretty fast, and there were plenty of just desserts.

I mean, just look at that list?!? Need I say more? This was absolutely a blast to read. Katarina, our succubus FMC is starving. Her abusive and blatantly evil ex has twisted their relationship to the point where she gets no pleasure or sustenance and all her thoughts are of survival and protecting her daughter. When he’s finally arrested for his abuse, she flees right into the home, arms and bed of Jessie and Nik. Jessie is a Minotaur garage owner and leader of a criminal family. Nik is his best friend with benefits, a bugbear who works in the garage and provides muscle back up.
Even though we’re dealing with heavier elements like a physically and emotionally abusive ex, this story never feels heavy. Part of that is the cozy monster world. Part is the humor throughout the story. And part is the power that Katarina reclaims as she both sates her succubus with these males and refuses to back down from a man that tried to victimize her.
There’s some crime boss drama and a mysterious bad guy, but there’s also a rich world packed with family. We get cameos from Elliot and Cassie featured in book 1 (not necessary to read before this one, but just as fun to read).
One of the elements of monster romance that I love is the way the monster setting allows us to bypass any real world expectations of gender and sexuality to focus on the connections between the characters. Lizzie absolutely nails this. If you’re looking for a kink positive, queer normative and consent heavy romance, check this out!

This is a steamy, MMf monster romance. It is the second book in the Bonesaw Brothers series of interconnected standalones that are also set in the King’s Fall universe. It could be read on its own, with minor spoilers.
FMC succubus Katarina has been in an abusive relationship for years. When she finally leaves with her young daughter, she ends up at the Bonesaw mechanic shop. Owner minotaur MMC Jessie Bonesaw and his roommate/friends-with-benefits, mechanic bugbear MMC Nikolai take an immediate interest and offer her a place to stay.
I really enjoyed this book. It was definitely one of the darker ones in the series. Don’t let the cute cover fool you, the MCs are involved in organized crime, and all of the characters are a little morally gray. There were some heavy issues, but Strong is good about providing trigger warnings. I really liked the story, and it covered a lot of ground, not only with the complex plot but also with the relationships between the characters and their own issues. Found family and perseverance were two main themes that resonated with me. I also appreciate that it ties into other stories in this universe without requiring me to remember everything from each book.
Overall, a fantastic read. I can’t wait to see what comes next in the King’s Fall universe and the Bonesaw Brothers series.

I will start how I usually end my reviews: This book is for all of you who wish life would just hand you two really big guys - and a tire iron!
Now that's established, let's get into it. This book is fantastic!
The book touches on some really, really sensitive subjects like physical and emotional domestic violence (remember to read those triggers, people!), which could lead to a very heavy and dark read, but in usual Lizzie Strong style, she manages to make it a fun and even semi-low-angst read, without minimizing or disregarding the emotional pain of the female main character.
And on the subject of the female main character, she is a total badass! While she needs help and fast, she is no one's damsel in distress 😍 - she is a succubus coming into her own.
This is also a book about finding your family and village, building you up and making you stronger together.
The only small, tiny, little note I have to the story is that the ending is a bit fast, summing up a lot of issues in few pages.

This is a sweet and fun book. This starts with Katarina in a BAD relationship when she decides she’s had enough. However, she has no where for her and her daughter to go when she meets Nik at the car repair shop who offers her to stay with him and his roommate. Desperate, Kat says yes, and realizing maybe it’s the best decision she’s ever made.
I loved the progression through this book. Kat is already such a strong person who was in a relationship that was difficult to get out of due to her tiny human. Once she’s out, she becomes even stronger and grows, and it helps that she has these two hunky guys on her side. Not to mention, not only does her daughter have those boys wrapped around her finger, so does Kat 😏
The relationships that develop are so sweet. Not only romantic, but I adored Nik and Jessie with Bella. They silently would call her little terror or ferocious baby, but yet their physical actions showed they actually really cared for her. Isabella really took them for a run. She’s so rambunctious, getting into things and you can’t help but lover her despite her naughtiness 😆

King’s Fall is definitely one of my favorite settings in any book series ever! I loved the first book in the series and I’m so glad we got to see more of the bonesaws! Plus, the first throuple in the series as well. This was sooooo good. Between the pining from the MMCs that has been in love since childhood, the elaborate plot of mafia drama with shake downs and scapegoats, and Katarina trying to make it as a single mother and get away from her horrible ex husband the whole time, I was hooked. There was drama, sweet moments, and adorable kid and both Jessie and Nik doting on both girls it was too sweet.
And the spice! Omg where do I begin? Jessie goes into Heat which means it’s crazy for everyone. Basically everything but a bed. From Jessie and Nik scenes, Katarina with each other boys and then everyone all together, we were basically well fed succubi alongside Katarina. We’re talking Knotting, manhandling, both at the same time, horns as handle bars and more. Alongside that were the sweet moments, the funny moments and banter, I adored these three together. I couldn’t get enough!

Loved: Katarina finding her fire again! Also her bestie Sera being a lawyer-pitbull. May all our mid-divorce baddies find someone like her. Also her daughter’s shenanigans cracked me up, especially with “Fluffy”! I also loved the distinction of her being a strong character and no less strong for being with someone like Gil. That message that you’re not weak because that happened to you is so important.
Also, the spice in this was spicy and unapologetically so and I LOVED it
I do wish Bella had been a different age. The way she talks and is characterized is closer to a 3 year old but she’s a 6 year old in the book. It wouldn’t bother me but I work with kids prek through 6th grade and noticed! (And before you say anything, I have to have some kind of hobby to make it through that job lol!)
I was also really hoping for a Gil scene after Jessie talked to Zrazduel. I wanted an on page, drawn out death after how much he pissed me off. But I’m just glad he does and we know he does.
Overall, lovely sequel and very fun to read!

Lizzie Strong never misses for me! The D&D vibes, the unique monsters and the body type variation in the MCS across their stories! I love it! Batwings & Motoroil follows certified badass Katarina & her adorable tiny terror as they learn to navigate life away from a bad domestic situation (check the cws as always!). Kat & Bella stumble into the path of two less than legal mechanics who steal their hearts and there’s plenty of spiciness and drama along the way. Overall, this was a really enjoyable read for me, 4⭐️for me only because there were moments where the pacing was a little slow but it didn’t effect my overall enjoyment at all

It took me a minute to figure out the Jesse was Elliot's brother! I loved getting a deeper dive into the Bonesaw family.

This is a steamy MMF monster romance and the 2nd book in the Bonesaw Brothers series. I've loved every book I've read by Lizzie so far. Though I think Bat Wings and Motor Oil has become my favorite! I related to Katrina so much as a single mom who was in an abusive relationship. I really feel like reading a wonderful story where a woman who was in an awful relationship gets her spark back and finds happiness heals something inside me. The two mmcs are amazing as well, I absolutely loved Nik and Jessie, they both have great personalities and I love how they all were with each. Who wanted to have two big, strong, and sweet monster mechanics in their life. I definitely recommend reading this one!

Lizzie's books always make me laugh and this one was no exception. It's a Minotaur, bugbear, and succubus romance, which I didn't know I needed, but I absolutely loved it. Jessie is young and full of swagger and confidence, Nik is grumpy and quiet, and Katarina is a now-single slowly coming back into herself after her ex husband made her doubt everything about herself. The boys really help her get her confidence back, while having to help Jessie through his surprise heat.
I love the world Lizzie is building, I love the stories she tells, I love it all!! This book can be read as a standalone, you miss some of the context of the Bonesaw family, but nothing huge.

As always, Lizzie Strong’s writing is a joy to behind. It’s easy for me and my dyslexia to read while still feeling poetic and advanced. Her characters are always on point, i especially loved Katarina and her becoming herself again while being a bossass woman! The plot was intriguing, though I did get confused as everything was being revealed- maybe a me problem. I also wish Nik (he did accept his abandonment but it was such a small section) and Jessie had a bit more character development, yes they confessed their love but that felt just about it. But I loved arc reading this book, as I always do for Lizzie Strong.

This book was a cute and fun quick read. Lizzie’s books are my go to for a palate cleanser book because they just feel so good and cozy to me.
You might like this book if you like monster romance, insta-lust/love, MFM, no third act breakup, found family, all the spice.
My literal only complaint is that the kid is supposed to be like 5 and acts like she’s 2-3 and that drove me kinda crazy (as a mom of 5 kids and my youngest being currently 5), and obviously that wasn’t a deal breaker for me. lol.

Bat Wings and Motor Oil has a lot going for it, the world building is fun, the paranormal elements are interesting, and the characters have strong chemistry. Jessie and Nikolai especially stood out, and the mix of danger, found family, and romance kept me invested. Katarina’s storyline had emotional weight, and I liked the balance between softer domestic moments and the darker underworld plot.
That said, the pacing felt uneven at times, and the story occasionally tried to juggle too many threads at once. Some conflicts were resolved a little too conveniently, while a few side characters could have used more development.
Overall, it was an enjoyable paranormal romance with heart, humour, and an engaging cast just not quite as polished or gripping as I’d hoped. A solid 3-star read for me.
That said, the pacing felt uneven at times, and the story occasionally tried to juggle too many threads at once. Some conflicts were resolved a little too conveniently, while a few side characters could have used more development.
Overall, it was an enjoyable paranormal romance with heart, humour, and an engaging cast just not quite as polished or gripping as I’d hoped. A solid 3-star read for me.

I binged this book in one day because it was so amazing and I swear everything Lizzie writes makes me ✨️emotional✨️
(And yes I was in her DMs today because of it 😅)
I left an abusive relationship in 2022. And have put myself back together piece by piece.
And still, reading this book...
It healed something in me.
Watching Katarina take her life back after all she'd been through made me think about all the work I've put into myself.
All the tears and heartache and pain.
But all the smiles and support I've had.
Watching Jessie and Nik allow themselves the freedom and vulnerability to love and be open with Katarina while she allowed herself to love again.
And I just really loved how Lizzie created this tone and really allowed us to sit in it.
She does this exceptionally well with every addition to the Kings Fall universe.
AND CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE BI KINGS????
Can I have a Jessie and a Nik please and thank you?!?!?
The spice. Top tier as always.
And overall the book was wayyyyyy better after reading Jockstraps and Newspapers yesterday. Definitely make sure you have that background when you read it.
And honestly just read all of the books because I love seeing little Easter Eggs from the other books.

I’m a sucker for anything Lizzie writes! And once again she wrote another story that I absolutely loved! I love that everything writes is another spinoff within in the same world. It makes it easier instead of starting over with a new world. I am so glad she is continued the Boneshaw story. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for Rex.

Sweet and spicy; serious and silly. This book is everything!
This is book two in the Bonesaw Brothers series, which is part of the larger King's Fall universe. Lizzie Strong is always a winning author in my book.

5 stars just isn't enough, Lizzie really knocked it out of the park with this one. I loved getting to see some past characters too (I love me some Mama Bonesaw & Aravis has a permanent spot in my heart forever)

Loved this story! So many appearances from other beloved King's Fall characters, it felt like coming home 😊 Katarina lucks out with not one, but TWO hunky males who love her and her tiny terror of a child. A sweet story with plenty of spice, found family, and justice served to those who deserve it most!

As I always say, if you've spoken to me for more than 5 seconds then youd know I'm a HUGE Lizzie Strong fan. I don't think I've ever read one of her books and didn't rate it a 10/5, and this book is no exception. Since our first look into the family that is the Bonesaw 's I've been dying to know more about Jessie and the 'family business'.
This book was not only a great addition to the Kings fall universe, but it really was a touching story about 3 people coming together under tense circumstances and forming an unbreakable bond that would shape the rest of their lives. Jessie, Nikolai and Katarina really were absolutely perfect together and I loved every moment we got with them, from the domestic family dinners to nights out 'working'. Lizzie always does this amazing job of flushing out her characters and giving us every angle of their lives, personalities and emotions and it always just makes me fall in love with each and every character she writes. In this book, seeing 2 big grown, scary men who can shake someone down for owed money and then turn around and protect and love the most adorable child EVER that isn't even theirs? (And ofc share their favorite plushies) Priceless man.

Katarina was such a fun FMC. I love a good succubus, but damn was she a baddie!!!
Jesse was a sweet angel baby with a wicked knot ;)
But Nik, my babygirl. I think he took the cake for me. I love the moody ones who don’t know how to explain their emotions, until they bubble over, but are an absolute love bug.
