The Storyline Fizzles, But The Romance Sizzles

With all the rave reviews I was really looking forward to enjoying this debut novel. Unfortunately, this was not the case. The novel starts off too slow for me. First we meet Jessica who co-owns Utopia with her best friend. It seems all of a sudden Jesse wants out of the company and takes an extended vacation to find herself. The author doesn't give enough background information to allow you to understand why she's dissatisfied with her career and life, but apparently something major has happened to her. But you don't find out what it is until almost the end of the novel. I must admit I did enjoy the heated arguments between Jesse and Cloud Walker, it was the most entertaining part of the novel. But then it turned into overkill when all they seemed to do was argue, even after they became intimate. The HOT and STEAMY love scenes were well written and probably the most appealing part of this novel. Ms. Hawley definitely has a way with the sexual imagery. Unfortunately, the great sex and the heated tension wasn't enough to keep me interested in this novel. I kept reading hoping it would get better, but it never did. I was disappointed because as sexy and intriguing as Ms. Hawley portrayed Cloud Walker and because she portrayed Jesse as a realistic woman, one with real womanly curves and scars, both physical and emotional, I really wanted to like them and bond with them, but I just didn't get caught up in their story enough to give the novel more than 2 stars.

It's very slow at first but gets better after a few chapters. The storyline was a little dull but not that bad. There wasn't much romance between the two, just lots of hot sex (I have the book hidden so no one finds it!)There is lots of fighting and you wonder if they're ever going to get together and eventually they do and have a nice romantic wedding (really the only romance in the book).I would reccomend this to someone who wants to read something really erotic. If you're looking for a romance you might be dissappointed.

I liked this book but the first 2 chapters were just confusing and I stopped reading it. They made no sense at all. This is my second book by this author and the heroines seem the same to me. I loved the interaction between Cloud and Jesse but I didnt understand why she stopped having sex with him after the first time. Some characters were told about and explained in some chapters, giving the idea that they would have a part in the book, but were never heard from again until the epilogue.

I found this treasure in a bookstore. The summary was intriguing, so I figured it would be a good read. J.S. Hawley, you did not disappoint. The story started slow, but I was immediately connected with Jesse and everything she was experiencing around her. From there, she leaves to find herself and meets Mike Walker, and acclimates to a new utopia. I loved every moment of their banter, their struggles, and their hesitancy to show and express their emotions. Their story is complicated in the best way, spicy, and empowering! The description was amazing! I felt like I was sitting in the room with the characters, watching and feeling everything play out before my eyes. I was so sad when it all came to an end. I know this book was published quite some time ago, but I just had to leave a review. I hope you see this. Thank you for this experience!

This book deserves a negative one. I didn't finish it and I don't care to ever pick this book up. Life is too short to read a book that you can't connect to the characters and it doesn't make sense the direction they book is going.

So, I'm saying that I picked this book up for a $1.25 at the Dollar General Store and I should take it back and demand they give me my $1.25 back plus the cost of my time that I wasted trying to finish this book.

I'm so disgusted right now. Just a complete waste of time. I read some reviews (after struggling to complete one page) and decided that I'm not giving the book several chapters to see if it picks up. Can't seem to let myself waste my time reading something I don't like when there are other books I could possibly be enjoying.
