Just bought this one last night! I was drawn in by the beautiful photographs of Jam tarts, Plum pie, Asparagus with hollandaise sauce, Rib of beef with Yorkshire puddings, Watercress soup, and more! Yum!

I'm not much of a cook but have pledged to learn now that I'm almost 40. I ignored most of my mother's valiant efforts to teach me when I was growing up, and I've been at a complete loss when it comes to food and cooking for most of my adult life. Time to stop the trend and learn to love food!

Michael is teaching me some tricks he's learned, and we're reading cookbooks together to determine what we want to attempt to cook together. English Traditional Recipes will be a great addition to our cookbookshelf because it's got clear cooking directions that the novice can understand and photographs accompanying most of the steps--a big help for me. Plus, M and I both love that many of the recipes involve pints of stout being poured directly into the pot!

Cheers!
