Amazon Top 25 and USA Today bestselling author Kayley Loring spent many years as a screenwriter (under a different name) in Los Angeles before moving to the Pacific Northwest to live out her childhood dream of being a Disney heroine who talks and sings to woodland creatures. When not trying to keep animals alive, she’s writing steamy romantic comedy novels, obviously. She’s breathing cleaner air, writing dirtier words, and staring at her computer screen until her eyeballs dry out instead of prancing around Southern California in miniskirts and going to the hair salon. Still waiting for the woodland creatures to clean her house, though.
Read or listen to Kayley’s books when you want humor, heat, and heart. You’ll enjoy top-notch banter, strong heroines, lovable characters you’d want to know in real life and you’ll swoon over perfectly imperfect book boyfriends. All Kayley Loring books are steamy open door romance. Be sure to check out her next-level audiobooks!
All the Stars! Troublemaker: The Big Picture Edition by Kayley Loring was a hilarious and swoony friends-to-lovers romance that made my heart go all a-flutter. I couldn’t get enough of Emilia and Alex’s witty banter and flirty forbidden chemistry. This single dad romance will always be a forever fave from Kayley.
Erin Mallon and J.F. Harding perform this audiobook in duet narration, and their comedic timing and steamy chemistry made this such a fun, entertaining listen. Erin’s expressive, upbeat voice perfectly captured Emilia’s passionate, elementary teacher vibes and her allure and desire for Alex. J.F.’s warm, mellow tone exuded a certain confidence and charisma that Alex had to offer. Emma Wilder’s performance of Franklin, Emilia’s housemate, made me giddy with delight while Jason Clarke and Teddy Hamilton were spot on as the infamous Lazy Wingman. This entire cast was such a joy to listen to in this audiobook.
Overall, I LOVED this book. If you are a fan of a celebrity romcom with a hot director dad, a dedicated elementary school teacher, a chatty little boy, a supportive housemate, a tipsy club meet cute, teachable moments, parent-teacher conferences, accessible skirts, Disneyland, Peter Pan kisses, finger night, Christmas break, facetime spice, intimate conversations, love declarations, and a HEA worth all the trouble, then you will love Emilia and Alex’s story. I always look forward to more from Kayley Loring.
Look, I love every word that this author puts on paper. I like them even better when she casts extraordinary voice actors to perform those words for me. So the chances I was going to love this multi cast re-recording of Troublemaker were pretty darn high. And I was not disappointed. Not even a little bit. Not even at all. (Sorry, I’m so effusive I just quoted 10 Things I Hate About You - that’s how much I enjoyed this book). Emilia has moved to LA to started work as a 2nd grade teacher after a break up with a less than worthy man. She immediately gets dragged out to a club where she hits it off with a super hot guy but ends up losing him. Where does she finally see him again? In a parent teacher conference with the father one of her new students, because Alex Vega may be an in demand film and TV director, but he is also the single dad of a 7 year old boy. Emilia tells him all the reasons she cannot date the parent of one of her students. But with chemistry like theirs, how long can it possibly be before they break all her rules? Their are three primary reason I adore Kayley Loring’s books. First is that her characters are so easy to relate to, pine after and laugh with. Her men are flawed but kind, masculine without being over the top Alpha jerks. Cocky but not obnoxious. Alex Vega is all of these things. Her female main characters are strong, smart, hilarious and a bit goofy. Emilia is a prime example of how they usually are at some sort of crossroads, either making big life changes or stuck in a position that begs for one. And that is Emilia is a nut shell, moving to LA and going after the job she wants on her own terms now that she has broken up with her undeserving Ex. Secondly, her humor is my particular brand of funny. Filled with the pop culture references that make me feel like we’ve been friends since middle school and these are our personal inside jokes. And finally, it’s how she tells a love story. Romance books don’t work without a certain structure. Loring is just so good at making the meet cute - get together - third act conflict - resolution to HEA feel fresh every time. Familiar in shape but original in its telling. The work that Erin Mallon does as a narrator throughout this series is simply top tier. Yes, her distinctive vocal style is lent to both Willa in Sleeper and Emilia here in Troublemaker, but they have unique quirks and styles that separate them. I double dare you not to grin at the way she says “f****ck you, Brent” repeatedly. JF Harding brings his patented warmth and easiness to Alex. He gives the character just the right blend of cockiness and vulnerability. Plus we get Jason Clarke, Teddy Hamilton and Emma Wilder rounding out the cast so that every one feels so distinct and the audiobook plays like a film in your head. Thank you to the Author Agency and Kayley Loring for the privilege of giving me an advanced copy of this audiobook to listen to and review.
This is becoming one of my favorite tropes: instant connection and then life getting in the way and our MCs have to find a way to make it work. On top of a great story, this book was funny! As a list maker, I loved that running thread throughout the story. (F*ck you, Brent!)
Emilia and Alex meet at a nightclub that they each got dragged out to only to lose each other in the crowd before the night is over. Fast forward to the start of the school year and it turns out Emilia is Alex's son's teacher. However, the heart wants what it wants - even if that is in backstage of the elementary school theater or the laundry room while said kid is watching a movie!
The banter between our MCs was perfection. They are each fully formed characters and they each know who they are and aren't waiting around for anyone to save them. They just feel when the other fills a whole they didn't realize was there. There's no malice in the teasing, they talk things out, and they just click and fit into the others' life almost seamlessly.
The side characters and how they all act together is hilarious, too. We feel like we are part of the group from page 1. Now, throw in a meddling second grader (voiced wonderfully) and we want to root for these two lovebirds.
This audiobook was great! We get multinarrator duet narration and each narrator does a great job with their characters (go to the credits at the end first to hear each one list the characters they read - thank you for this!!!) I didn't want to stop listening.
If you want a light but heartfelt story with a whole cast of characters that will keep you giggling while you find excuses to keep listening to your audiobook, here's your next pick!
Thank you to The Author Agency for an advanced listener copy in exchange for my honest opinions.
I absolutely loved this hilarious, and sweet, slow-burn romance! Alex Vega is a single dad who would rather be with his adorable son, Ryder, instead of clubbing. But when he went out to support his friends, he meets a fun, sexy, woman who seems just as out of place as he feels. They have an instant connection and share an electric passionate kiss. Unfortunately the night ends with them not getting a way to see each other again. That is until Ryder starts school and they meet his new teacher! Emilia Stiles has just moved to LA and left a bad relationship behind. When her roommate talks her into going out, she never expected to find a man who's kisses invade her dreams every night. Too bad he ends up being the sexy dad of one of her students! She has always dreamed of teaching here and doesn't want to jeopardize her new job or play favorites with her students. But Alex is not going to let go of the best thing to happen to him or his son. I loved everything about this delightful romcom, from the witty banter, the adorable, scheming Ryder, the slow-burning build, and the sizzling chemistry that made for a captivating romance that stole my heart! This special edition audio was rerecorded in multicast duet, narrated by Erin Mallon and JF Harding, with Emma Wilder, Teddy Hamilton, and Jason Clarke! Mallon absolutely nailed the quirky, yet sweet and loving Emilia and Harding's portrayal of Alex's wit, charm, and pure love for his son was palpable. Wilder's voice for Ryder and all his little boy musings was absolutely perfect, as Clarke and Hamilton were hilarious as the lazy wingmen. They all voiced additional characters making this listen even more delightful. Plus, the 2nd epilogue was so clever and an extra special treat. This fun, emotional and steamy romance captured my heart and made me completely happy!
Tropes: Elementary Teacher FMC, Hollywood Director MMC, Single Dad, Flirty Emails, Forbidden Love, Sneaking Around
More people should be talking about these books - this series is so underrated! The re-recorded audiobooks are worth giving this series another read. As a teacher IRL, dating a parent is something that I would never do (so messy), but in fiction I am loving it! All the text and email banter was so much fun - their chemistry was wild. The fact that the son/student was pushing for his dad and teacher to get together was amazing! The story is fun, so cute, and the spice is written just right! You get all the tension, yearning, and the danger of sneaking around that comes with the forbidden relationship trope…. It’s just so good! The audiobook is amazing! Duet narration with a full cast of the best narrators, it is a must listen! If it is not on your audiobook TBR, it should be.
This the re-recording of the audiobook done in duet style and multi cast. Erin Mallon & JF Harding were absolutely amazing as Emilia and Alex. They captured them perfectly. They really showed off their talent by bringing the humor and their delivery was perfect. Add Emma Wilder, Teddy Hamilton, & Jason Clarke and you have an entertaining audiobook.
I love Kayley’s writing. It was nicely written and the pace was great. The one liners were hysterical and I was bursting out laughing so many times. I loved Alex & Emilia so much. Emilia being the teacher of Alex’s son Ryder was a great set up. The chemistry between them was undeniable and loved the push and pull between them. Kayley did a wonderful job balancing the humor, drama, spice, & heartfelt moments.
This story was beautifully written and Erin Mallon and JF Harding did a wonderful job voicing Emilia and Alex, they were very expressive and their overall performance was well done.
I am a sucker for duet but even more so for a full cast! Literally this audio was a dream to listen to and I loved it!
As for the story, it as well written and paced nicely with such funny one liners. I laughed out loud many times throughout the story. Oh and Ryder! Good gosh was he hilarious and him asking his friend for advice on how to get his teacher to like his dad was the sweetest. When Alex low key encouraged and took his advice, that was amazing.
Overall this is a great story and the audio just added that extra life to it. I don’t think you could go wrong with listening to this story!
A book you will love to read and listen to again and again! This book had it all! The comedy, the spice, the angst, the character you just can't tolerate but is necessary to make us love the couple even more! I absolutely loved listening to the ALC of this book! The narrators all did a fantastic job portraying their characters! They really draw you into the story and you find yourself getting lost in the book! I absolutely recommend this book and I love that I found a new to me author to love!
This book is a re-recording of an earlier version. Narrated by JF Harding, Erin Mallon, Emma Wilder, Jason Clarke, and Teddy Hamilton. This multicast style was perfect for setting the tone of the book and the entire cast did a great job portraying their characters. This book is a RomCom and the one liners had me laughing aloud. It is seriously a wonderful time. Ryder was a cute addition to this story, and the students unfiltered statements were hilarious. I think that this would be the perfect listen for anyone seeking comedy and spice. Not my typical go to listen, but I highly enjoyed it none the less. Gave me a lighter spirit.
Tropes Included: Spicy Romantic Comedy Celebrity Single Dad and a Nerdy Teacher Second Chance Opposites Attract Adorable Meddling Kid
I would like to thank The Author Agency and Kayley Loring for an entertaining time. I feel like this book is something that I could listen to again!
This story is so cute and HILARIOUS!!!!! It reminds me so much of Sleepless in Seattle. Ryder is the cutest little boy and I love his not so subtle ways on how much he wants his dad and teacher to be together. The students are also hilarious with their no filters.
The audio was the best!!! Erin Mallon always knocks it out of the park with rom-com stories. She never fails to have me dying laughing with her tone and delivery. I loved JF Harding for Alex. THese two really brought the story to life and had me doing a few spit takes from their tones and delivery of the lines.
ALC REVIEW! 🎧 it’s so upbeat and funny book. I loved the main characters and Ryder was the best! It was such an easy listen that I don’t have any bad things about it. The narrators and duet narration made the story so much better to listen to. It’s so hard to not include spoilers when talking about this book.
This was a great heartfelt rom-com, I couldn't stop laughing throughout this whole book. Its sweet, spicy and an absolutely fun listen. Th story has plenty of tension and the sneaking around made for a delicious dynamic. I loved the way this was written it felt fresh. This series has been an eye opening experience into Kayley Lorings book and I cant wait to read more.
Emilia and Alex are so much fun. The chemistry is immediately undeniable and the banter between them was fun. The text messages and emails between them are gold. They have a tricky situation to work through all with thr meddling matchmaking year old son of Alex, Ryder. Ryder is an absolute ball. He brings lots of levity and plentiful laughs. I loved this little family so muchI they had me giggling the whole way through.
This is the updated audio of this book . It is a multi-cast duet narration with JF Harding and Erin Mallon as Alex and Emilia, along with Emma Wilder, Teddy Hamilton and Jason Clark rounding out the cast for an amazing experience. They bring this story to life. JF Harding is vulnerable and warm, Erin Mallon sweet, strong and flirty. They all have impeccable comedic timing. This was an absolute pleasure and joy to listen too.
Thank you to Kayley Loring and The Author Agency for this ALC. These are my honest opinions and feelings.
What on earth is wrong with me? How is it that I have never read or listened to anything by author Kayley Loring before Troublemaker: The Big Picture Edition? It is the sweetest, funniest, and HOTTEST thing I have enjoyed in a long time. Emilia and Alex are so cute and the attraction is so strong I was surprised their eyes didn’t burst into flame every time they looked at each other.
Emilia is quirky and nerdy and used to be fun but allowed herself to be stuck in a blah, pointless relationship for far too long. Her boyfriend was critical, demanding – and boring. Break up, get back together, rinse and repeat far too many times. Until Emilia has had enough for the last, last time – she, her friends and family and all us readers hope – and follows her dream to teach elementary school in Los Angeles. She’s staying with her fabulously flamboyant friend Franklin who convinces her to dress up and step out. Off to a club they go. Franklin promised to stay by her side but disappears into the crowd with this hot guy and Emilia is left standing alone.
And let the mesmerizing begin.
Alex is a hot, handsome, very successful director, the youngest Tony nominee for Best Direction in history and single dad to 7-year old Ryder. He’s only at the club because he agreed to celebrate the birthday of an old friend, and because his two best friends will be there. Best friends who are happily married and about to go home to their waiting wives. Alex is in a funk – or something. In his ‘inspiration journal’ he describes his current mood as wistful, as characterized by melancholy, longing, yearning. Or maybe he’s ready to fall in love. Or maybe he needs a beer. Or maybe . . . . Whatever he needs, it’s not being here in this club where nothing and no one interests him. Until this very attractive woman – like a sexy librarian, glasses and all – catches his eye.
Let the mesmerizing continue.
They talk, and they dance, and they kiss. And kiss. The banter is priceless. The chemistry and tension are so thick you can almost see it. The kiss? Who thought a kiss could be like that. Just as he’s about to offer to take her anywhere – anywhere at all, just to be near her – the alcohol in her system decides it wants out; the room starts spinning and she makes a mad dash for the ladies’ room. Yes, she’s embarrassed but she sure hopes Hot Dad (later known as Hot Dad from Vomit Night) is there when she gets back to the dance floor. But he’s gone. Maybe it’s for the best; it’s too soon for her to get involved with anyone. But holey moley, she can’t get him out of her mind.
Alex can’t forget her either. But life goes on. And life with Ryder is never boring. Especially when his new second grade teacher starts sending annoying emails and homework assignments to the parents. Or when she requests a meeting with “Ryder’s father” because Ryder is a constant talker and a little bit of a disruptive troublemaker in class. Well, Alex will put this uptight woman in her place. No one had better criticize Ryder. Ryder is amazing.
Well, we all know where this is going, don’t we? “Alejandro” and “Emmy” from the club are actually Alex the director dad and Emilia the schoolteacher. He almost doesn’t recognize her in her schoolmarm outfit, but when he does – whoa. She can barely put two words together in his presence. To say they have a strong connection, attraction, chemistry would be putting it mildly. What they have is fire and they are about to combust. I could describe every anecdote, every scene: the observatory, the school play, the library, gelato, Ryder’s attempts at matchmaking, the dating profile, the unwritten school rules, the futility of resistance, but what you really need to know is that you must to stop whatever you are doing and start reading and listening right this very minute.
Author Kayley Loring’s plot, pace, characters, quotes, literary references are perfect. This is one of those books that the minute you reach ‘The End’ you flip back to the beginning and start again. Knowing what’s coming just makes it better. And the narration? Out of this world. Erin Mallon as Emilia: so expressive, hilariously funny, awkward, out of control, head over heels. J. F. Harding’s low-key, droll portrayal of Alex is just as you would expect: witty words but overwhelmed with desire and conflicted longing. And every time he says the word in a book I will declare every time that nobody – nobody – says ‘Baby” like J. F. Harding. Emma Wilder must really be a 7-year-old boy because her Ryder is enchanting and spot-on. And who wouldn’t want Teddy Hamilton and Jason Clarke to pop in as supporting cast?
I received an advance audio copy of Troublemaker and purchased the eBook. This story is heartwarming, funny and delightful. I laughed so much at times I was almost crying. And when Alex thought to himself “This woman is mine. I want to do all the things, with and to and for her. Into next year and beyond,” I actually was crying. Must read and must listen to everything by this author. I voluntarily leave this review; all opinions are my own.
A Remarkable Story & Multi-Cast Performance! A Joy Of A Listen!
Troublemaker: The Big Picture Edition By: Kayley Loring Narrated by:JF Harding, Erin Mallon, Emma Wilder, Jason Clarke, Teddy Hamilton
Kayley Loring has once again excelled, elevating her already fantastic story “Troublemaker” by having it re-recorded and performed in a duet by a remarkable cast. A multi-cast production that is a treat for your ears and one that will have you smiling ear to ear. This is the third book in the “Name in Lights” series and is single dad Alex Vega and Emilia Stiles’ story. Emilia always wanted to move to L.A. and did so now that she was free of her ex, who was holding her back, moving in with her friend, Franklin, who is an absolute hoot of a character. Franklin drags Emilia out to a club, despite preferring to stay home with a book, and then leaves her to fend for herself. Alex was at the same club, out with friends, and he too would rather be elsewhere, but once he saw her, he was entranced. They did not get to spend a lot of time together that night, but it was a memorable one for them both, and that would not be the last they saw of each other. Emilia starts her teaching job, and one of her students stands out, Ryder, and she soon learns who his father is, and it turns out the apple does not fall far from the tree. Alex is off-limits to her as long as his son is her student, but that does not stop him from pursuing her. There was an undeniable chemistry between them, and the push-and-pull, back-and-forth banter and witty dialogue were both amazing and entertaining. I loved all the layers of this story and how it all played out with a perfect balance of drama, humor, charming and heartwarming moments, heartfelt emotions, and steamy romance. As always, the writing, plot, and world-building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. Kayley Loring, thank you for another wonderful story, the emotional rollercoaster ride and the much needed laughs, escapism at its finest once again.
🎧📚🎧And for the incredible multi-cast production and audiobook listen performed by an amazing line-up of talent, led by JF Hardy and Erin Mallon in the two lead roles, Alex and Emilia, joined by Emma Wilder, Jason Clarke, and Teddy Hamilton, covering the roles of the side/secondary characters and they excelled in them all. They were all naturals in their roles, handling the witty dialogue effortlessly and with perfect comedic timing. Their talent and versatility as voice artists truly shine in their performance, a performance that is entertaining and a pleasure to listen to, one that keeps you glued to the story.
Troublemaker is romantic comedy perfection! When I first reviewed this book in 2020, that was how I felt then and nothing has changed. At the time, I was still fairly new to Kayley Loring’s books but quickly fell in love with her writing. She writes with such heart and humor, and her characters are always relatable – even when they’re super famous directors and former Disney stars.
This amazing story has been retold by an all-star cast in the Troublemaker: Big Picture Edition audiobook, and boy are you in for a treat! Given the characters involved, you’re also in for the best kind of Troublemakers! Alex Vega is the super-hot director and former star of That’s So Wizard who is raising his precocious 7-year old son, Ryder. A chance meeting before school begins finds him dancing at a nightclub with Ryder’s beautiful, caring new teacher, Emilia Stiles. Once they get past the surprise of seeing each other again at their first parent- teacher conference, their connection can’t be denied. And Ryder, that adorable, hilarious little matchmaker, doesn’t want them to.
I loved watching Emilia find this man who deserves her time and her heart and her steamy texts. And she completely captures his half-broken heart and fills it with love and laughter. Speaking of laughter, you will be rolling on the floor at Ryder’s attempt at a dating profile for his dad and the Lazy Wingmen comedy bit that Alex’s best friends bring out. It’s impossible not to fall in love with every one of the side characters in this story.
The duet narration by Erin Mallon and JF Harding is incredible. Together, they make the longing between Alex and Emilia palpable. JF’s warm voice expertly portrays Alex as confident and sometimes bossy but also tender and loving. Erin has such range and was excellent at conveying Emilia’s uncertainty as she starts her life over again in L.A. while building a gradual self-assurance along the way. Emma Wilder, Teddy Hamilton and Jason Clarke round out this wonderful cast and make it all the more perfect. (I am convinced that no one does a better kid voice than Emma Wilder!) Each narrator has the gift of making the characters even more relatable, funny, swoony and delightful!
I just can’t say enough about how much I loved this multicast duet version of Troublemaker. It’s sweet, spicy and fun from beginning to end. To quote Emilia, you’re always going to find something new and wonderful in a book. That couldn’t more true than in Troublemaker!
Kayley Loring’s Troublemaker is a masterclass in the romantic comedy genre, and this special edition multicast recording elevates an already fantastic story into a cinematic experience.
The plot follows Emilia, a resilient second-grade teacher who moves to LA for a fresh start after a breakup with a completely undeserving man. Her first night out leads to an electric encounter with a mysterious stranger, only for her to realize weeks later that the man she can’t stop thinking about is Alex Vega—an in-demand film director and the single father of one of her new students.
The chemistry between Emilia and Alex is immediate and undeniable, creating a delicious slow-burn as Emilia tries to maintain professional boundaries. Watching them navigate their connection through witty emails and texts—while Alex’s adorable seven-year-old son, Ryder, tries his hand at matchmaking—is pure joy.
Loring’s signature humor is on full display here, packed with pop-culture references that make the characters feel like old friends. Her leads are perfectly balanced: Alex is a flawed, kind, and sincere father, while Emilia is a strong, smart, and delightfully goofy woman taking charge of her life on her own terms.
The performance of this special edition audiobook is simply top-tier. Narrated in a multicast duet style, Erin Mallon and JF Harding bring Emilia and Alex to life with incredible depth. Mallon captures Emilia’s quirky, loving nature with a distinctive vocal style that is impossible not to grin at, while Harding provides the perfect blend of warmth, cockiness, and vulnerability.
The addition of Emma Wilder, Teddy Hamilton, and Jason Clarke creates a rich, distinct world where every character feels fully realized. From Ryder’s hilarious musings to the banter of lazy wingmen, the cast transforms the story into a vibrant "film in your head." With low angst and high heart, this is a beautifully paced, steamy romance that captures the soul of a modern rom-com.
Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
After reading Charmer by this author only a couple of weeks ago - and devouring it! - when I spotted this new special edition release of book 3 in the Name In Lights series, I absolutely had to get my hands on it!
Yep, I did it again and completely devoured this in only 2 sittings because I just couldn't stop listening.
I loved being back in this world and although we are essentially following a new couple, I loved getting to see the characters from the previous books too.
This book sees Alex and Emilia struggling to navigate a relationship whilst also trying to remain professional. Having met at a club, neither realised that Emilia had just taken over the class that Alex's son Ryder was in and although this caused all kinds of trouble, they just couldn't keep away.
I had such a great time here again and loved both our main characters. Their banter had me in fits of laughter and those emails and text messages - just hilarious.
Ryder was just the cutest and I loved the way that he and his friend picked up in the signals that Alex and Emilia were not so successfully trying to hide. Despite skirting around things, Ryder just adores them both and wanted them both to be happy. I did feel a little sorry for him at times but it seems that everyone around him managed their situation really well.
The spice was definitely spicing throughout and this was well slotted into a really sweet storyline which dealt with relatable topics. I loved some of the sweeter scenes as well as this really just suited the pair's characters.
Brilliantly written again and with the superb duet narration - with extras - this was amazing to listen to also. I really need to catch up with book 1 and really hope that I'll be adding many more books by this author to my tbr soon.
Audiobook Review: Narrated by JF Harding, Erin Mallon, Emma Wilder, Jason Clarke & Teddy Hamilton.
OK let me just say, I can't believe I've nit read or listened to any if your books, Kayley Loring!! If this book is anything to go by then I know I will love the others. I'm at a place in my life, where something funny and uplifting was required and this story ticked it all. The multiple narrators made it so much more fun too. They all did a fantastic job with all the humour, friendship and emotions. It really felt like a proper sitcom. I loved Emilia Stiles & Alex Vega. They were destined to be together, so opposite yet so right for each other. Emilia is nerdy, fish out of the water and spent way too long making her ex happy. My favourite moments were when she randomly shouted out Efu Brent or the universe 🤣. Had me giggling every time, even when it wasn't his fault. She is starting fresh in a new place with a fabulous room mate, that keeps her young. Alex is a famous Hollywood director and a single dad to a very cheeky Tyler. I loved that he s famous but fell for the ordinary, glass wearing simple woman like Emilia. They meet at a club that she was forced to go by her roommate. They share a hot moment and then events cause them to separate. 2 weeks later Tyler's new teacher is Emilia. I can't write everything but it is a must to either read or listen too. The way Alex breaks her walls down and makes her breaks rules was genius and HOT!!! It was absolutely hilarious, spicy and heartwarming. I can't express how much I loved this story. Oh I think her Christmas surprise to him was my favourite haha. Again you need to find out. Just don't be drinking anything as you will spit it out randomly. Emilia can't help herself. I am definitely a new fan of Kayley.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ a spicy, hilarious, classic second chance romcom that performs as good as it reads 🌶️🌶️ perfect rom com meets steamy scenes vibes 🎉Happy pub day! April 24th, 2026 Audiobook length: 6h 39m perfect multicast rom com vibes
🎧 Narrators: JF Harding, Erin Mallon, Emma Wilder, Jason Clarke & Teddy Hamilton 🎙 Format: Multicast Duet Narration
Thank you Kayley Loring and The Author Agency for this impeccable gifted ALC! This is my honest, voluntary review.
This audiobook was pure rom com dopamine. Kayley already writes with heat, humor, and heart so this audiobook just leveled up the experience.
The chemistry between our FMC and MMC between Alex and Emilia I felt through every email and every moment they attempted and miserably failed at keeping things professional. These three troublemakers to me were Alex, Emilia and Ryder. Such a cute time that had me kicking my feet in delight. I love the “we shouldn’t” but they do micro trope.
JF Harding and Erin Mallon absolutely owned these roles. The perfect adorable single dad and Emilia’s uptight but obviously interested vibe were delivered BEAUTIFULLY. Add in Emma Wilder, Jason Clarke, and Teddy Hamilton, and you get a full cast that feels like a rom com ensemble you’d binge on a Sunday afternoon. RYDER was such a little sweetheart.
I was blushing as much as a brown person can listening and kicking my feet because the performances were that good.

🎧 The multi cast duet narration was absolute perfection and made it so much funnier with all the banter! The main narrators for this book were JF Harding and Erin Mallon and they did an exceptional job at playing the characters. Erin Mallon was hilarious throughout the book and I couldn't stop laughing every time she said F*ck You Brent! I love hearing their chemistry and the flirty banter through emails and texts. The other narrators were amazing as well at playing the side characters. We had Emma Wilder, Jason Clarke and Teddy Hamilton and we couldn't ask for a more perfect cast for this book!
I found it so cute and fun to see how much the son played matchmaker to try to get his single dad with his teacher. LOL that dating profile was just too funny!! I love monkeys hahaha
I really enjoyed how the author Kayley Loring integrated texts, emails, inspiration journal and lists into the story while still moving the story along and it gave us a fun way to get into the head of the main characters but also see their hilarious banter and flirting with the texts and emails. As someone who loves making lists, I had a blast reading all her lists and the way Erin Mallon read them was too funny!! oh and don't get me started on the incident that happened when she was trying to do s3xt!ng with him for the first time plus all the time after that haha
This book definitely made me giggle and laugh aloud so many times so I highly recommend it if you are in the mood for a fun spicy rom com with amazing duet narration!! You won't regret it!
Tropes in this book: 💗 Spicy rom com 💗 Single dad 💗 Teacher x dad 💗 Flirty texts & emails 💗 She upgrades (from her ex) 💗 Fun banter 💗 Adorable son playing matchmaker
Thank you The Author Agency and Kayley Loring for this ALC in exchange for my honest opinion.
Emilia is a cool casual teacher. Alex is a cool casual director. Emilia is Alex's son Ryders teacher. Alex fell head over heals for Emilia in just one night in the dance club where they first met. Their connection was truly electrical. They each felt that spark in moments of meeting on that night, before Emilia had to run off like Cinderella. The school year has now began and emails are going out to the parents to introduce their child to the teacher and find out any other important information. What are the chances? What are the chances of the truly delectable man you met at the club that sent shivers down your spine and made you feel in one night like your ex NEVER made you feel in a whole relationship, is the parent to one of your little students? Where do you draw the line in this new sparking relationship and being parents/teachers to a young kid? Can you fight it? SHOULD you fight it? Well, I guess that all depends on the 'rules'.
Dive in to find a contemporary love story that's spicy AND very sweet, humorous, has emails, opposites attract trope, and a single dad and a teacher relationship. With a secret relationship element, you'll find pushing boundaries and rules to find the time to be around the woman that you've fell so hard for.
This duet narration recording with JF Harding and Erin Mallon, with Emma Wilder, Jason Clarke and Teddy Hamilton bring a true audio experience for the listener!
Troublemaker, part three of the Name in Lights special editions series by Kayley Loring, is another hilarious hit! I don’t know what it is, but Kayley Loring has me belly laughing at almost every turn of the page. I chose the audiobook route, and I was thoroughly entertained! JF Harding and Erin Mallon, along with the rest of the cast, knocked it out of the park. Their timing was spot on. How many times can I say hilarious in a single review??
Book three of the series follows Alex Vega and Emilia Stiles. Alex is a super hot director and single dad to Ryder, and Emilia is Ryder’s elementary school teacher. Emilia moved to LA to work as a teacher after a breakup. Needing to let go and have fun, she is dragged to a club where she meets a mysterious hot guy who she hits it off. Never in a million years would she expect to see him again at a parent-teacher conference! With school rules strictly in place, Emilia is not allowed to date a student’s father, but with chemistry this hot, how could she not?!
I absolutely adore these characters and the reappearing side characters that you love from other books in the series. Emilia and Alex’s interactions, in all forms, are perfect. A true rom-com. In Charmer, I loved the comic relief of Lulu and Granny, and here Ryder steals your heart. Loved every minute of this book.
Thanks to Kayley Loring for gifting me an eARC of Troublemaker. I am leaving this review voluntarily. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Troublemaker: The Big Picture Edition is another fabulous romcom from Kayley Loring. With amazing narrators voicing the most charming characters, this audiobook is one I’ll listen to again and again.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Teacher Emilia Stiles broke up with her boyfriend—FU Brent!—and is moving to LA. Her first night in town, she meets hottie Alex Vega at a club, but they don’t get a chance to exchange numbers. A month later, both are shocked to discover that Emilia is Alex’s son Ryder’s second grade teacher. But as hard as they try to ignore their sizzling chemistry, their mutual attraction is obvious.
It’s not a secret that I think Kayley Loring writes some of the best romcoms around. But her writing is also perfectly suited to a multi cast audiobook. The distinctive characters let each narrator stretch their comedic voices. Erin Mallon and JF Harding are perfectly cast as the MCs, and I truly need Emma Wilder to voice every child in every audiobook ever; she is a delight each and every time.
If you love romcoms, Kayley Loring is a must read author. And if you are an audiobook book lover, download Troublemaker: The Big Picture Edition ASAP. Not only is is the story tons of fun, but the narrators do an amazing job of bringing this hilarious and steamy story to life.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this audiobook. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Troublemaker is a cute little romcom with some spice added into the mix. What happens when a cute nerdy elementary school teacher finds out her student’s dad is the sexy mystery man she met at the club? A lot of awkward moments, secret flirting, and some pretty hilarious internal monologues 😂 Alex and Amelia were so perfect for each other, but Amelia tried to be a professional and keep her distance from him. Alex got the memo, ignored it, and went after her anyways! What I loved though is that Alex wasn’t the only one falling for her, his son adored her as well and even tried playing matchmaker 🥰
The romance was so sweet between Alex and Amelia, and it was so funny listening to nerdy Amelia trying to be sexy 🤣 But their spicy times were spicing when they got together! The side characters were funny and witty, and I loved the relationships they had with the main characters.
The audiobook was duet narrated with a multicast of talented narrators! JF Harding and Erin Mallon portrayed Alex and Amelia perfectly! Emma Wilder, Jason Clarke, and Teddy Hamilton rounded out this all star cast narrating the rest of the characters and bringing this whole story to life 🤩 I really enjoyed this book and I’m definitely going to check out more from this author ❤️
(Duet Narration Audiobook) This is a re-recording of the book, now done in duet style. I thoroughly enjoyed this story! Alex, a film director in Hollywood, and Emilia, a school teacher, meet at a nightclub. They share a passionate kiss, but Emilia’s inebriated state ends their night early and no information is exchanged. Cut to a month later and Emilia finds that one of her students father is Alex. They begin flirting, and start a relationship.
The book was really humorous, and I think the narrators had a large part in how much that came across. Erin Mallon’s inflection and delivering of the lines was great. JF Harding as Alex showed wit and dry humor so well. I found it entertaining that a lot of their communication was done via email and texting, since they were trying to stay under wraps while Emilia was still Ryder’s teacher. They were so funny with each other.
The book is pretty low angst, and the only conflict is that while not expressly prohibited, dating a student’s parent isn’t good optics for a teacher. They work through that though, and are able to be together. I want to thank The Author Agency and Kayley Loring for the copy of this audiobook, I voluntarily chose to leave a review.
Needing a fresh start after a breakup (that clearly the ex doesn't agree with), 2nd grade teacher Amelia moves to the place she's always planned to move to: LA with gay best friend (who loves to dress her and coaches her on dating). After a cute club makeout session with our director Alex, she starts work at a new school and picks a fight with one of the parents via email - since he's not descriptive or as engaged as she wants him to be, only to discover hot club guy is in fact hot single dad.
Amelia initially comes across as a bit frustrating, particularly in how she’s somewhat aggressive with Alex over his lack of detail in emails and texts—though his situation as a busy single dad with a demanding high profile career offers some context. Despite clear warnings from the principal about maintaining professional boundaries with parents, the two quickly become entangled in each other’s lives through school events, field trips, and outings. Not to mention, an involved 7 year old who asks her to help build a dating profile for Alex.
Alex and Amelia’s attraction is not a slow-burn tension and instead a mutual fixation—they come across as almost starved for each other’s attention and touch, to the point where it feels distracting.
I totally enjoyed listening to "Troublemaker: The Big Picture Edition". The audiobook was narrated by an amazing cast: duet narration by JF Harding and Erin Mallon, with Emma Wilder, Jason Clarke, and Teddy Hamilton. The book has a large cast of characters, including Alex's son Ryder, Emilia's ex, her friend Franklin, Granny Todd, Nico Todd, and others. These talented voice actors made sure their character was evident in every scene - it is a tremendous audio production. Ms. Loring supplied a wonderful story, making the most of the "teacher/parent of a student" situation that Alex and Emilia are embroiled in. So much yearning, and I loved the way Ms. Loring wrote it - so believable! The spicy scenes were just right, engaging and evocative, and convincing enough to make me jealous. Occasional "aside chapters" (not sure what else to call them) with Emilia's lists and Alex's Inspiration Journal were additional "mental banter", which I loved. This is a great story that really shines in audio, and I am certainly glad it made it out into the world. I was given an ALC and volunteered to write a review.
Thank you to The Author Agency for my advance audiobook copy of Troublemaker by Kayley Loring in exchange for my honest review.
I love how immersive these special editions are!! JF Harding, Erin Mallon, Emma Wilder, Jason Clarke, and Teddy Hamilton did a phenomenal job at all coming together in this seamless audio and create a listening pleasure!
Alex and Emilia meet at a bar one summer and share a special moment. Emilia just came to town and that extra attention was nice. She goes on, never really forgetting that moment, until she sees him again in the worst place possible, her classroom. It turns out he's the father of one of her students AND off limits (unless she wants trouble at work).
Alex decides to keep putting himself near Emilia until she can't resist him. Will it work?
The banter in this one is top notch. I loved Emilia's friends and the conversations they offer. I even loved Alex's ex-wife (I love when healthy co-parenting is displayed in books). This is such a light, fun hearted spicy romance. Again...the banter. What a great 4 star read!
Alex has transitioned from his career as a child actor into a successful career as a director however his driving force is being a single father to his son Ryder. This is the reason why after exchanging some correspondence with his son’s teacher he is determined to meet the woman behind the emails, but he never expected that he had met her previously at a bar but had to leave before they could have the steamy evening he was planning.
Emilia is looking for a fresh start both personally and professionally however finding out that her student’s father was a witness to a night she would rather forget was not part of the plan. Her head tells her to keep their relationship business only however her heart doesn’t seem to be getting the message.
Fun and flirty this story is sure to bring a smile to your face. The chemistry between them is hot, the banter is humorous and Ryder is a scene stealer. The narrators only make this story better as Erin Mallon brings out the sassy side of Emilia’s personality to perfection and J.F. Harding brings out the swoon factor of Alex.
Troublemaker: The Big Picture Edition is a funny, delightful friends to lovers romance between Emilia and Alex. Emilia has recently moved to Los Angeles for a new teaching job. She goes out with her best friend Franklin to a club where she meets Alex. They share a life altering kiss and then part. Alex and Emilia meet again at a parent teacher conference at Ryder’s school. Emilia is Ryder’s new second grade teacher. What happens when they start dating? Can their relationship go the distance? The full cast duet narration was absolutely magnificent. Erin Mallon was spectacular as sweet, kind, somewhat shy but sassy Emilia. J. F. Harding was superb as loving, caring, besotted Alex. The chemistry between them was palpable. Emma Wilder was brilliant as Emilia’s funny friend/roommate Franklin. She was perfect as adorable, meddling, manipulative Ryder and anxious, slightly unstable Nova. Jason Clarke and Teddy Hamilton reprise their roles as Nico and Shane. This fabulous cast brought this story to life beautifully. I highly recommend listening to this audiobook. Thanks to the author and The Author Agency for this ALC. AUDIOBOOK REVIEW: Story 5 stars Narration 5 stars
