P.A. Lassiter just made a superfan out off me.I loved reading Edwards point of view in the book and whole fan fiction series by this author is truly great. This book has five parts. The first part starts of with the epilogue bit of Eclipse and to their wedding and honeymoon the author stuck to the plot except for a small detail.the second parts begins after their marriage. The honeymoon bits were a bit steamier than the original version and we really can fill all the missing pieces in the plot.the next part of the book has Bella's transformation and Reneseme's growth and development.the next part shows how all of them are adjusting to their new life and this part quit short in the original version here was stretched out but I couldn't enough.the last part of the book is the voultori and all the other vampires scene, which again I loved.
Very pleasantly surprised! I was expecting a YA version on 50 Shades of Grey which I personally detested for its lack of character development, plot and good writing in general. But this was really good. Loved seeing into the Cullen clan further. You also get much more insight into the Volturi which was fun.
I understand it's fan fiction, but the way the writer wrote Edward's inner dialogue is giving Nigel from The Wild Thornberrys. And sparkly vampire Nigel wannabe isn't as sexy as you're trying to make him.
As a series conclusion, I can say now that as fan fiction goes, this author has not done badly at all in the whole series from Edward’s point of view. I think that at the lest, her writing is not worse than Stephenie Meyers at all, certainly even better than Meyer’s own Midnight Sun, which I found highly derivative and even (oh, the sin!), almost boring.
Only that as dictated by the plot progression, the previous books in the series were rather clean, definitely much tamer than this one, and their story was both plot and character driven. This made me enjoy them a lot more than this one.
First of all, it was unnecessarily long. Too long by about 150-200 pages filled with waffling, circular thinking and Edward’s self-congratulatory “poor me” and it contained way, way too much smut. I’m not a prude and I have read my fair share of erotica back in the day, but there was too much of very explicit sex in this book, to the point that despite the disclaimer, I was surprised by the crudeness of it. I think overall it detracted from the quality. The book could have been much better with a ruthless editing.
I loved being able to see Edward's perspective throughout the whole thing, and I understood the thought behind the adult portions (it was also impressive how there was actual character building throughout the adult scenes and not just... adult things xD).
The only thing that I, personally, could have done without was the NUMBER of adult scenes. Some fit in quite well with the rest of the story and some seemed to detract from the rest of the story just because of placement and frequency. While I understand and appreciate that the author wanted to eliminate the "fade to black" moments in the book, I would have liked to have been able to move on a little more with the storyline. I'm not a "skipper" when it comes to reading (or video games, for that matter. I am a full-on completionist, lol) and found myself wanting to at some points.
That was the only thing I took issue with. Adding all the mommy and daddy moments and seeing a bit more development of Renesmee's character from edward's ability was amazing. All-in-all I thoroughly enjoyed it!
I enjoyed reading this fanfic along with the Breaking Dawn novel by Stephenie Meyer. It tells the story from Edwards perspective, and many parts are VERY graphic and sensual, so I'm not sure I would advise this read to individuals in their preteens or younger (thus the 4 star rating). That being said, I did enjoy getting a glimpse into what was going on in Edwards mind throughout the experiences with gain, loss, family unity, friendships and an epic battle.
WOW WOW WOW!!! Just WOW!!! I take this, Eclipse and New Moon by P. A. Lassiter as headcanon!!! P. A. Lassiter really finished the Twilight: Missing Pieces series with a bang. I was in tears at the end because of how happy I was! It was perfect. I honestly doubt if Stephanie Meyer herself could have written it any better! Edward's point of view was perfectly explained and I liked how we got to see scenes with Edward that weren't in the original Twilight Saga. The ending was just so good. Edward's feelings and thoughts were written and communicated very effectively. If you are a Twihard you should definitely read this AND the other books. Click the link below to read online for free! I loved how the book was divided into sections to make it easier to understand. I really enjoyed getting to know Renesmee so much better and getting a peek into her mind. I think she was given a lot more attention in this book and I really liked that!
* For fans of the Matched trilogy by Allie Condie, I am happy to say that Kai and Cassia's poem "Do not go gentle into that good night" was slyly referenced at one point in the book!!!
