So far I like this book even better than the first one. It’s funny and also, it’s funny to have characters in an epic fantasy novel with high stakes be funny. I like clever writing. The new characters are compelling and the author does a good job explaining where we’ve been without too much exposition, so it feels like a reader could jump in at the second book even if they had read the first one. It’s nice that there’s sort of a rag tag group of beloved characters that all have their own well developed personalities for the action to unfold against. So far reading this book makes me feel cold, it all takes place in the cold haha!
