Kate Stevens hasn't seen Cole Cutchins in years, but she sure didn't want to see him like this. Cole, a jazz trumpeter and leader of a band on tour, is caught at the end of an ever-tightening noose as the main suspect in the murder of a fellow muscician.
Now it's up to Kate to prove him innocent. She and her best friend, Vivi Lawrence, find themselves in the seany and dangerous world of Fort Worth's nightlife in an all-out attempt to do just that.
Donna Kelly is a mystery writer and freelance journalist. She is also the theater critic for the Ledger, the daily newspaper of Lakeland Florida. She is also the writer-in-residence at Arts Ensemble Education Foundation in Winter Haven.
Since childhood, Donna’s fascination with regional folklore, the stories human minds create to explain what happens in the world, and the quirky history of people around the globe, has generated poems, short stories, and book ideas. The paranormal and spiritual beliefs of mankind kindle her imagination.
In 2012, Donna set out to achieve her lifelong goal of becoming an author. Combining ideas garnered during her 15 year tenure as a newspaper journalist with her love of research and writing, Donna began honing her craft while writing four cozy mysteries for Annie’s Publishing.
A love triangle, a professional that apparently pouts in a VERY big way, dating a known murder suspect, interfering with a police investigation (but the detective is in love with her so ofc he just laughs and shakes his head after trying - and failing - to scold her), a woman who refuses to let anyone scold her bc it reminds her of her ex, cheesy writing style...no thanks🤓
Donna mixed some southern charm, mystery and down home friendliness into this book. The characters could have been my friends and neighbors. The story flowed well and kept my interest.
