Small Habits + Keystone Habits = Big Results! 10 Power Habits That Take 5 Minutes Per Day & Guarantee Rapid Results

Rate this book
Harness the Chain Reaction of Habits to Make Positive Change in Your Life Have you ever noticed how, generally, in life, one thing leads to another? You head to the pub determined to have only one drink, but end up staying for three or four and some fried fatty food to top it all off. Wouldn’t it be great to harness this “chain reaction” to serve your life instead? To be able to get healthier? To get more productive? To get happier? To be more successful? The good news is that habits often cause chain reactions. Creating a good habit is just as easy as creating one that is destructive. The amazing thing is that you can change your life, become healthier, happier, and develop good habits in less than five minutes a day by harnessing the power of keystone habits! Discover the 10 Keystone Habits that Guarantee Results I was first introduced to the concept of keystone habits in Charles Duhigg’s breakthrough book, The Power of Habit. In their simplest form, keystone habits are those habits that automatically lead to changes in other behaviors. They have a chain effect in your life and help create multiple positive new habits – without you even having to try! The amazing thing is that by consciously developing these keystone habits, people can change their lives with minimal effort. After reading hundreds of research studies and experimenting with the habits in my own life, I wrote this book. In it, I share the ten keystone habits that are guaranteed (and I don’t use that term lightly) to transform your life. How to Go a Step Further With Small Habits I quickly realized that it’s not enough to know about the keystone habits. To create lasting change, you need to implement these habits. The way you do this is through "small habits" (Credits to BJ Fogg and Stephen Guise for introducing me to the concept). Small habits are those habits that are easy to create, take very little time, and make bigger habits easier to adopt. They are habits that are so small, they make it almost impossible to fail. Having implemented small habits in my own life and having read all the research on the topic, I realized that creating small habits was the best way to make lasting change in your life. Small Habits + Keystone Habits = Big Results The book is the result of my intensive research and experimentation. By combining the ten keystone habits I discovered, along with the power of small habits, you will see massive results in your life. This book is for anyone who wants to take control of their habits and create powerful new ones. It will help •Become more productive. • Improve your relationships. • Take control of your finances. • Live a happier, healthier life. • Achieve more success. • Adopt powerful, life-changing habits. ...

The main bonus for me was interesting idea - merging concept of minihabits with keystone habits which in theory can change lives with little effort. The idea itself was interesting but didn´t convinced me that exact method recommended in the book can "guarantee rapid results", it was not proven yet. As books about habits go, this one (for me) was not the best in terms of learning new facts - standing alone can´t be very helpful with deeper understanding the process (if you are interested in that). If it was my first book about habits, it could offer a basic introduction to this theme and main ideas, but it is not too deep. For better/deeper understanding I would recommend Power of Habits by Charles Duhigg or Guise´s Mini Habits.

The book itself has clear structure and is easy to navigate trough. It focuses more on practical application of a small version of "keystone habits"- each of presumably keystone habits has its own chapter (some structure for all of them). In every chapter there are some theoretical informations (mostly about benefits it can bring to your life) and some more practical part with tips how to implement it to your life.

Those didn´t speak to me very much, part of the tips seemed not very good grounded or doable. I am doubtful that the titul "5 minutes per day" is true if you try to adopt so many minihabits at once. And I am not sure that you can take so many new things, although small, in your life at once. It can be overwhelming or just too much little things to watch for (can be tiring). You probably fail at something during time (and author himself is speaking about this) and this can take away one of the big benefits of mini habits - psychological efects of everyday small wins (mentioned by Guise in Mini Habits). I was not convinced that this is the best approach for me but I still find very useful to think about merging keystone habits with benefits of small/mini habits - in general.

HIGHLIGHTS:
1. Keystone habits are habits and behaviors that you adopt that automatically lead to changes in other behaviors. In other words, they are habits that create a chain of behaviors or actions, for the most part, on an unconscious level.

2. Small habits are those habits that are easy to create, take very little time, and make bigger habits easier to adopt.

3. Remember it is far easier to develop small habits than it is to make major lifestyle changes. You are far more likely to succeed by adding a minute or two of exercise to your routine than you are if you try to commit to an hour of the gym a day. Set goals that are so small that it is impossible to fail.

4. By paying attention to your routine and when you spend time waiting for things, you will be able to identify numerous opportunities to add a few minutes of exercise to your daily routine.

5. The key to any habit is simplicity and convenience.

6. People are happiest when they are actively pursuing their dreams.

Shockingly dreadful. Derivative. The idea that such self evident nonsense gathers any audience at any time is extraordinary. Why must these self development books be so basic, boring and dreadful? It worries me that some desperate or needy people requiring direction would go here. Yuck.
